Bug#443936: xserver-xorg-video-mga: windowmaker and 1.9.99 get along terribly
kls wrote: I finally got around to upgrading my laptop (ATI M6LY)'s install of sid, and found that this is *not* a problem in the mga driver. It's a problem in some other random xorg component, presumably libxcomposite1. To work around it, I have to disable both the Composite extension and AIGLX -- it seems that with only one disabled the other caused it to be re-enabled. (Any suggestions on tracing down what's actually wrong?) (e.g. Section Extensions Option Composite disable EndSection Section ServerFlags Option AIGLX no EndSection ) So I guess that means this bug should either be moved to a different package or closed. If I understand correctly, you are seeing WindowMaker being very slow on both MGA and ATI with Xorg 7.3 (xserver-xorg-core 1.4) when AIGLX/Composite is enabled? And it worked fine before? Does it help if you switch to EXA on ATI? EXA shouldn't as bad as in MGA on your board. Brice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#445213: acpi-support: video-vesa-state and video-restore give errors
Jerry Quinn wrote: During suspend, /etc/acpi/suspend.d/80-video-vesa-state.sh gives the following error: line 7: [: !=: unary operator expected This appears to be because the test in that line looks like: [ $VBEMODE != 3 ] and VBEMODE gets a value of: Real mode call failed Hence the broken shell script. /etc/acpi/resume.d/17-video-restore.sh has the same issue. Bug#445184: meld: would benefit from an option to save the diff as a file
Hi Neil, On 07/10/03 21:37 +0100, Neil Williams said ... It would be very useful if, after editing two files, meld would have an option to save the final difference as a .diff or .patch file. I usually meld already has an option to create a patch file and save it to a file or the clipboard. If you right-click in one of the two panes that meld creates while editing / viewing diffs, you can select the Create Patch item to do this. If this is what you are looking for (and you did not find it because you were looking for it in the main menu), we can patch meld to probably add that to the File drop-down. I just realized that there is a rather huge side-effect. octave-headers triggers the installation of quite a lot of -dev packages (fftw-dev, gfortran, ...). I'm still in favor of merging the packages, though. We might also move pkg.m into octave2.9-headers and avoid the huge side-effect you mention above. How about scheduling this for 2.9.15? I don't think we should change it somewhere in between two Debian revisions. Different topic: it seems http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=420080#29 didn't make it to the list. Bug#445232: Document auto-execute better

I wasn't able to reproduce it here. I don't think I would be able to reproduce it with a package based on the mssql extension. As the author of the original bug report to php.net pointed out, he could fix it by adding explicit support for the CS_UNIQUE_TYPE to php_sybase_ct.c. So unless that support has been forgotten in the mssql extension as well, you won't be seeing that bug. But because unstable will take a while to become stable, I wouldn't mind if the tiny fix would be applied to the current stable. That identity then can be held accountable for the message. . This is a Perl implementation created by Jason Long of Messiah College. It performs signing as well as signature verification. Neither spamassassin nor libmail-dkim-perl lists any dependency on Crypt::OpenSSL::Bignum. I noticed this comment in Mail::SpamAssassin::Plugin::DKIM: # Have to do this so that RPM doesn't find these as required perl modules. # Crypt::OpenSSL::Bignum included here, since Mail::DKIM loads it in some # situations at runtime and spews messy errors if it's not there. BEGIN { require Mail::DKIM; require Mail::DKIM::Verifier; require Crypt::OpenSSL::Bignum; } but I can't find any reference to Crypt::OpenSSL::Bignum anywhere in Mail::DKIM, so I belive this is a dependency bug in spamassassin. If the comment were true, this should have been reported as a bug against libmail-dkim-perl instead of an ugly workaround. Resolvconf is recommended in unstable/testing hence will be pulled by default, and then the default configuration should work out from the box for most systems around. This is hence fixed. Bug#445238: vim: write errors in swap file when on remote FS
Package: vim Version: 1:7.1-056+2 Severity: normal When using vim to edit files on a remote FS (in this case sshfs, but I imagine this happens with others too), vim starts throwing errors saying E297: Write error in swap file if the connection to the remote dies and then comes back up again. I'm guessing that vim is keeping the filehandle for the swapfile open, and this filehandle becomes invalid when the connection dies. Steps to reproduce: mkdir tmp sshfs -o reconnect localhost:/tmp tmp vim tmp/foo Type some stuff in, save it, then keep it open. In another window, kill the ssh process that's been spawned by sshfs, then go back to vim. Start pressing u/^R to undo/redo, and you should start to see the aforemetioned error. The above example is a bit contrived, I actually noticed the problem when using software suspend, which makes the ssh processes die. According to strace, the error returned from the write(2) call is EIO. Perhaps instead of just throwing an error, vim should attempt to re-open the swap file and THEN throw an error if that fails as well. select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], NULLselect(4, [3], [], [], NULL)= 1 (in [0]) read(0, u, 4096) = 1 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) _llseek(8, 0, [0], SEEK_SET)= 0 write(8, b0VIM 7.1\0\0\0\0\20\0\0\304\247\4G\0\0\0\200)\0\0chr..., 4096) = -1 EIO (Input/output error) select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) time(NULL) = 1191487479 time(NULL) = 1191487479 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) write(1, \33[53;1H\r\n\33[?25l\33[1m\33[37m\33[41mE29..., 156) = 156 ioctl(0, SNDCTL_TMR_TIMEBASE or TCGETS, {B38400 opost -isig -icanon -echo ...}) = 0 gettimeofday({1191487479, 947304}, NULL) = 0 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {4, 0}) = 1 (in [0], left {3, 208000}) select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], NULL) = 1 (in [0]) read(0, \r, 4096) = 1 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) uname({sys=Linux, node=spawn, ...}) = 0 write(7, \22\0\f\0L\0\200\3\'\0\0\0\37\0\0\0\10\0\0\0\25\0\0\0v..., 116) = 116 uname({sys=Linux, node=spawn, ...}) = 0 write(7, \22\0\10\0L\0\200\3%\0\0\0\37\0\0\0\10\0\0\0\7\0\0\0vi..., 100) = 100 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) write(1, \33[m\33[1;1H\33[2L\33[?25l\33[1;1Haoeu\r\na..., 115) = 115 ioctl(0, SNDCTL_TMR_TIMEBASE or TCGETS, {B38400 opost -isig -icanon -echo ...}) = 0 gettimeofday({1191487480, 740168}, NULL) = 0 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {4, 0}) = 1 (in [0], left {3, 472000}) select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], NULL) = 1 (in [0]) read(0, \22, 4096)= 1 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) _llseek(8, 0, [0], SEEK_SET)= 0 write(8, b0VIM 7.1\0\0\0\0\20\0\0\304\247\4G\0\0\0\200)\0\0chr..., 4096) = -1 EIO (Input/output error) write(1, \33[?25l\33[m\33[53;1H\33[1m\33[37m\33[41mE2..., 60) = 60 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) time(NULL) = 1191487481 time(NULL) = 1191487481 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) write(1, \33[m\r\r\n1 change; after #2 52 sec..., 98) = 98 ioctl(0, SNDCTL_TMR_TIMEBASE or TCGETS, {B38400 opost -isig -icanon -echo ...}) = 0 gettimeofday({1191487481, 267523}, NULL) = 0 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {4, 0}) = 1 (in [0], left {3, 96000}) select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], NULL) = 1 (in [0]) read(0, \r, 4096) = 1 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) uname({sys=Linux, node=spawn, ...}) = 0 write(7, \22\0\f\0L\0\200\3\'\0\0\0\37\0\0\0\10\0\0\0\27\0\0\0v..., 116) = 116 uname({sys=Linux, node=spawn, ...}) = 0 write(7, \22\0\10\0L\0\200\3%\0\0\0\37\0\0\0\10\0\0\0\7\0\0\0vi..., 100) = 100 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) write(1, \33[m\33[1;1H\33[2L\33[?25l\33[1;1Haoeu\r\na..., 129) = 129 ioctl(0, SNDCTL_TMR_TIMEBASE or TCGETS, {B38400 opost -isig -icanon -echo ...}) = 0 gettimeofday({1191487482, 172142}, NULL) = 0 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {4, 0}) = 1 (in [0], left {3, 32}) select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], NULL) = 1 (in [0]) read(0, \22, 4096)= 1 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) time(NULL) = 1191487482 time(NULL) = 1191487482 write(1, \33[?25l\33[53;1H2 more lines; after..., 51) = 51 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {0, 0}) = 0 (Timeout) write(1, \33[4;51r\33[4;1H\33[2L\33[1;53r\33[53;1H\33..., 86) = 86 ioctl(0, SNDCTL_TMR_TIMEBASE or TCGETS, {B38400 opost -isig -icanon -echo ...}) = 0 gettimeofday({1191487482, 851962}, NULL) = 0 select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], {4, 0}) = 1 (in [0], left {2, 464000}) select(8, [0 5 7], NULL, [0 5], NULL) = 1 (in [0]) read(0, u, 4096) = 1

Bug#445239: qtiplot: crashs on Gauss fitting
Package: qtiplot Version: 0.9-1 Severity: normal After opening the following ASCII file 1 1,1 2 1,9 3 3 4 4,5 5 3,5 (in a German locale, , is required instead of .) and selecting Fit Wizzard in Analysis it crashes once I click with my mouse on the Gauss function in the dialog. It seems to work with most other functions. I'm sorry but I'm unable to provide a backtrace as I have my Debian box running in a Xen session which doesn't like gdb. Also it seems that DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip debug is not respected so that I had to change CONFIG += release into CONFIG += debug in qtiplot/qtiplot.pro. Probably it should default to debug as dh_strip is called in debian/rules which respects DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS. Bug#445236: gdm: the font in text-input field is way too big
All themes are affected. Of course to configure gdm I hat to login, then start gdmsetup as root from a terminal, because it's impossible to select the configure option from the menu directly in gdm login-screen: fonts are so big that that option gets out from the screen. Also the menus displayed by clicking on Session, Actions or Language are written with too big fonts and fill the screen, so menus are unusable. Does it happen only with the default theme, or are other GDM themes affected as well? -- mantager-at-gmail-dot-com - I may never find all the answers I may never understand why I may never prove what I know to be true but I know that I still have to try If I die tomorrow I'd be allright because I believe that after we're gone the spirit carries on -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
