While ldap_initialize is /documented/ in a manpage, the manpage is only installed as ldap_init(3), not ldap_initialize(3) - so not very findable. I think there's a fix still required here. ldap_initialize is a link to ldap_open, so man should cope, no? I admit that I assumed without checking that the latest release fixed all the man page symlinks, since 2.4.7-5 didn't make the last archive pulse. Aha - this is accounted for upstream, but the Debian package didn't have these listed as manpages to install. Ditto ldap_get_option; I can't even see any manpages in libldap2-dev that look like obvious candidates for this. Where did you find this documented? Well, doc/man/man3/ldap_get_option.3. Are we not installing it? Nope, that one wasn't making it to the package either. I've corrected these now in svn: using a single wildcard for man3/* is a bit easier than listing the manpages one-by-one in debian/libldap2-dev.manpages :) -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. Bug#454242: kic software and its manual page - updated (fwd)
Hello Stephen You might be interested in the changes to your software I have gotten. Yours, Guerkan -- while(!asleep()) sheep++; -- Forwarded message -- Date: 2008-02-04 18:28:46 +0100 From: Yargo [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: kic software and its manual page - updated Hi Gürkan, i just wanted to let you know that i used your draft version of manual page for kic and debian. i hope you don't mind. i can update it anytime, no problem. it's in debian now http://packages.debian.org/kic Thanks for your efforts, I really appreciate this. In the meantime, I improved an entry routine somewhat, as I encountered a problem while trying to draw another test mask. The corresponding fix is attached (should be applied with 'patch -p0 -u'), together with the new version of the manpage which has minor modifications, but makes reference to the improved entry routine. Anyway, documentation and help is still bad, I know.. The patch just changes version number (from 2.4a to 2.4b) and modifies point.c to use floating point instead of integer numbers for coordinate entries, with integer type cast after conversion into internal units. This allows to enter coordinates by values at the highest possible precision. In case this diff is problematic, all the files and new tarball can be found at http://yargo.andropov.org/src/kic/. and it could even be really free software if this could be fixed: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=454242 Ok. Bug#464938: d-i on i386 with 16 MiB RAM (using swap)
Using bzip2 doesn't save RAM, but it saves space on the root floppy. (If you add all three ide modules on it, you would normally (using gzip) end up with image bigger than 1.44 MB). Therefore I suggest to compress initrd on the root floppy with bzip2, which claims for using a bzip2 decompressor on the boot floppy, insted of the gzip one. (I don't use that tool, so I wouldn't have seen that issue.) I am unmerging your own bug report from #452357 and marking it as fixed in 2:2.2.0.90-2. In #452357, the lockup appeared 10s after the startup of the server, Ken's bug might be more similar to this one. Brice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#464384: elinks_0.12~20080127-1(experimental/amd64/xenophanes): -Werror, warning: cast from pointer to integer of different size

I pushed the following patch, which should fix these. Debian bug 464384: fix OFF_T_FORMAT mismatches on amd64 On AMD64 apparently, off_t is long but ELinks detected SIZEOF_OFF_T == 8 and defined OFF_T_FORMAT as lld, which expects long long and so causes GCC to warn about a mismatching format specifier. Because --enable-debug adds -Werror to $CFLAGS, this warning breaks the build. When both SIZEOF_LONG and SIZEOF_LONG_LONG are 8, ELinks cannot know which type it should use. To fix this, do not attempt to find a format specifier for off_t itself. Instead cast all printed off_t values to a new typedef off_print_T that is large enough, and replace OFF_T_FORMAT with OFF_PRINT_FORMAT which is suitable for off_print_T altough not necessarily for off_t. ELinks already had a similar scheme with time_print_T and TIME_PRINT_FORMAT. --- commit 61019c31304f89141248b0381974d1e3886cf160 tree a3343d1895bfd6892bbc6cf275930c513a508bec parent 6555359f8e56b6e08bd1a8f40fd363506a0e3ff5 author Kalle Olavi Niemitalo [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun, 10 Feb 2008 11:20:33 +0200 committer Kalle Olavi Niemitalo [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sun, 10 Feb 2008 11:30:27 +0200 src/cache/cache.c |8 +--- src/cache/dialogs.c |8 src/dialogs/document.c |5 +++-- src/osdep/types.h | 22 +- src/protocol/fsp/fsp.c |3 ++- src/protocol/ftp/ftp.c |3 ++- src/protocol/smb/smb2.c |3 ++- 7 files changed, 35 insertions(+), 17 deletions(-) diff --git a/src/cache/cache.c b/src/cache/cache.c index db9efe1..8b05080 100644 --- a/src/cache/cache.c +++ b/src/cache/cache.c @@ -40,9 +40,11 @@ static void truncate_entry(struct cache_entry *cached, off_t offset, int final); #define dump_frag(frag, count) \ do { \ - DBG( [%d] f=%p offset=% OFF_T_FORMAT length=% OFF_T_FORMAT \ -real_length=% OFF_T_FORMAT, \ - count, frag, frag-offset, frag-length, frag-real_length); \ + DBG( [%d] f=%p offset=% OFF_PRINT_FORMAT \ +length=% OFF_PRINT_FORMAT \ +real_length=% OFF_PRINT_FORMAT, \ + count, frag, (off_print_T) frag-offset, \ + (off_print_T) frag-length, (off_print_T) frag-real_length); \ } while (0) #define dump_frags(entry, comment) \ diff --git a/src/cache/dialogs.c b/src/cache/dialogs.c index b0a33b3..29a9446 100644 --- a/src/cache/dialogs.c +++ b/src/cache/dialogs.c @@ -82,10 +82,10 @@ get_cache_entry_info(struct listbox_item *item, struct terminal *term) } } - add_format_to_string(msg, \n%s: % OFF_T_FORMAT, _(Size, term), -cached-length); - add_format_to_string(msg, \n%s: % OFF_T_FORMAT, _(Loaded size, term), - cached-data_size); + add_format_to_string(msg, \n%s: % OFF_PRINT_FORMAT, _(Size, term), +(off_print_T) cached-length); + add_format_to_string(msg, \n%s: % OFF_PRINT_FORMAT, _(Loaded size, term), +(off_print_T) cached-data_size); if (cached-content_type) { add_format_to_string(msg, \n%s: %s, _(Content type, term), cached-content_type); diff --git a/src/dialogs/document.c b/src/dialogs/document.c index ba55ea2..458e839 100644 --- a/src/dialogs/document.c +++ b/src/dialogs/document.c @@ -152,8 +152,9 @@ document_info_dialog(struct session *ses) if (cached) { unsigned char *a; - add_format_to_string(msg, \n%s: % OFF_T_FORMAT, -_(Size, term), cached-length); + add_format_to_string(msg, \n%s: % OFF_PRINT_FORMAT, +_(Size, term), +(off_print_T) cached-length); if (cached-incomplete) { add_format_to_string(msg, (%s), _(incomplete, term)); diff --git a/src/osdep/types.h b/src/osdep/types.h index 2404ac0..f1c42f8 100644 --- a/src/osdep/types.h +++ b/src/osdep/types.h @@ -146,12 +146,24 @@ typedef unsigned long long uint32_t; */ typedef long longptr_T; -/* Define internal off_t format macro for printing variables. */ -#if HAVE_OFF_T == 1 SIZEOF_OFF_T == 8 -#define OFF_T_FORMAT lld +/* To print off_t offset, ELinks does: + * + * printf(% OFF_PRINT_FORMAT, (off_print_T) offset); + * + * The cast is necessary because it is not possible to guess + * a printf format for off_t itself

The player itself is rather useless, but the library is a nice means to provide MIDI processing without the overhead of timidity (and avoids any need to split out a libtimidity to allow build-dependencies without running a daemon). Bug#426238: Bug # 426238: ntp: kernel time sync error 0001
In response to Bill Wohler's comment on 28 Aug 2007: since 2.6.18 in lenny is now obsolete, this bug can probably be closed please be aware that, as of today (2008-02-10), anyone using the most recent nvidia-kernel package (nvidia-kernel-2.6.18-6-686) is using linux-image-2.6.18-6-686, and that, therefore, 2.6.18 in lenny is *not* now obsolete, and that, therefore, this bug is still a problem and should not be closed. I am hoping that an nvidia-kernel-2.6.22 package will be available soon, but I have not yet heard back from inquiries into this. In the mean time, any report of progress in addressing this bug would be much appreciated. -- Steve Lane System, Network and Security Administrator Doudna Lab Biomolecular Structure and Mechanism Group UC Berkeley -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. If the error message were at least fixed to not lead users on a wild goose chase for codecs, as I suggest in #464624, and it instead suggested using totem-xine, that might be enough to leave totem-gstreamer as the default. After all, libdvdcss2 has to be manually installed to play most dvds, and so we can't aim for perfect dvd support out of the box anyway. Bug#465034: libcomplearn-mod-ppmd: FTBFS on 64 bit arches.
Package: libcomplearn-mod-ppmd Version: 1.0.6-3 Severity: serious Hi, It seems you changed from a arch any packages to one that lists all the arches, but removed all the 64 bit arches. I can't see a good reason why you did that. I'm guessing that this is related to ppmd failing to build on those arches (#370419)? That's not a reason to restrict the architectures in your package. However, that can be a good reason to get added to Packages-Arch-Specific. Note that version 1.0.6-1 in available in unstable on those arches. If you think it's broken you should get those versions removed from unstable first. Kurt -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#465043: anthy: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review
Package: anthy Version: N/A Severity: normal Tags: patch Dear Debian maintainer, On Tuesday, January 22, 2008, I notified you of the beginning of a review process concerning debconf templates for anthy. The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates, and the proposed changes are attached to this bug report. Please review the suggested changes are suggested, and if you have any objections, let me know in the next 3 days. Please try to avoid uploading anthy with these changes right now. The second phase of this process will begin on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, when I will coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates. The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will receive an updated PO file for their language. Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to the debian-i18n mailing list. Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with. The call for translation updates and new translations will run until about Wednesday, March 05, 2008. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or changed debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of course, other changes are safe. Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact that I simultaneously work on many packages. Around Thursday, March 06, 2008, I will contact you again and will send a final patch summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates, updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations). Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.23-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash --- anthy.old/debian/anthy.templates2008-01-14 08:36:11.957485672 +0100 +++ anthy/debian/anthy.templates2008-02-10 12:05:08.529240714 +0100 @@ -1,11 +1,20 @@ +# These templates have been reviewed by the debian-l10n-english +# team +# +# If modifications/additions/rewording are needed, please ask +# [EMAIL PROTECTED] for advice. +# +# Even minor modifications require translation updates and such +# changes should be coordinated with translators and reviewers. + Template: anthy/dictionaries Type: multiselect Choices: ${dictionaries} Default: base.t, extra.t -_Description: Add-on dictionaries to use: - The anthy package can use add-on dictionaries to the system - dictionary. the following dictionaries are currently available: +_Description: Extra dictionaries to use: + The anthy package can use add-on dictionaries in addition to the + system dictionary. Bug#464837: should warn about merciurial files
Hi, A fix for .hgignore was commited by Frank Lichtenheld: r1201 | djpig | 2008-02-09 19:03:58 + (Sat, 09 Feb 2008) | 5 lines Merge all the tags for vcs ignore files and vcs control dirs. Since the explanations don't actually differ, different tags make no sense. While at it, add the mercurial equivalents as well. I think this is the right approach, but we could go further in merging a few of the random checks for control files together. The attached patch (against r1202): * Merges the - vcs-ignore-file-in-package - arch-inventory-file-in-package tags into the package-contains-vcs-control-file tag, modifying the existing regression tests to suit. * Adds regression tests for .httags, .hg_archival.txt, .httags, etc. The argument for this is basically an extension of Frank's: a developer does not need to know exactly what the control file really does, just that it is /something/ to do with revision control (and the file should be removed). In addition, this tag is trivially extendable to other control files. What this patch doesn't do is apply the same cleanup to the diff-contains- FOO-control-{file,dir} tags. Is this wanted? The Vim Addon Policy[0] describes the suggested ways for a Debian package to provide an addon's functionality to the user. Since halibut only ships syntax/halibut.vim, it could also simply document that the user can symlink the file to ~/.vim/syntax/halibut.vim. I can understand why plugins should be disabled system-wide, but surely syntax highlighting should be available automatically once the package is installed? After all, in the absence of filetype detection you have to use ':setf halibut' to enable it. It seems absurd to me to make users jump through an extra hoop.
