 I scolled down by now to page 345. I didn't crashed yet.

Same here, no problems noticed (sid system). But I use xserver from
experimental (intel driver) (no idea if this can be related).

 I would suggest to downgrade it, until there is an approach to reproduce
 this bug (don't think is security related, either.)

Done.

Bug#512374: flashplugin-nonfree: Flashplayer isn't shown in list of installed plugins and neither works

2009-01-22 Thread Paul Romanchenko
Ok, I suppose it's my fault to have 32bit flash installed.
I removed old version and manually linked .so from /etc/alternatives.
With this flashplayer gmail became broken (iceweasel silently crashes)
although some other pages (youtube.com) opens fine.

 You could give some more info: in which browser are you trying to use
 Flashplayer? how do you check the list of plugins?

 Additional info:
 $ ldd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flash-mozilla.so
 […]
 libm.so.6 = /lib32/libm.so.6 (0xf6b8e000)

 You are trying to use a 32 bit flash plugin on a 64 bit (amd64) install.
 It is almost bound to fail.

 The question is, why does it install the 32 bit version when /var/cache/
 apparently also contains the 64 bit one.

 Can you show a log of update-flashplugin-nonfree --verbose --install ?

 libnss3.so = not found
 libsmime3.so = not found
 libssl3.so = not found
 libplds4.so = not found
 libplc4.so = not found
 libnspr4.so = not found

 Some libraries are missing. The dependencies only ensure that the native
 libraries are installed and not the 32 bits variant.

The workaround of adding ipv6 to /etc/modules, as mentioned in #413428,
also solves this bug (#512553). So they presumably are the same bug.

Probably because of recent changes in Lenny's kernel or sshd, the ipv6
module is not loaded in time for the ifup -a command during boot.

Bug#512510: Bug #512510, boxbackup: FTBFS in lenny: DebugMemLeakFinder.cpp:165: error: '::malloc' has not been declared

  During a rebuild of all packages in a lenny chroot, your package

 Thanks for your report.

 I tried to rebuild boxbackup on my machine, but succeeded without
 problems. The FTBFS on your system is caused by this:

 openjade:/build/user-boxbackup_0.11~rc2-4-amd64-nneCfU/boxbackup-0.11~rc2-4/documentation/instguide.xml:3:56:E:
 error connecting to www.oasis-open.org (Connection refused)

 This is already reported as bug #507973

(I'm not from the release team, etc.)

I'd say merge both.

 The build error you are seeing in the build log is in the test suite,
 which isn't run.

No. It *is* run. But it is ignored, which is quite different. For those
following at home:
| ifeq (,$(findstring nocheck,$(DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS)))
| -./runtest.pl ALL
| endif

 That should be fixed as well, of course. From the first glance, this
 is very similar to #505696, a patch would add some further '#includes'
 to enable the testsuite to run.

You want cstlib. But well, that memleak finder #undef's some bits:
| #undef malloc
| #undef realloc
| #undef free

Good luck.

KiBi.

Hi,

the current version fails to build on GNU/kFreeBSD.

It needs a small fixup for cmake/modules/xwin.cmake
for both kfreebsd-i386 and kfreebsd-amd64.
Moreover, kfreebsd-amd64 does not have yet gnat,
it have to be treated as other architectures without gnat.

Currently it holds building of at least pdl and libgimp-perl.

Please, could you consider to upload fixed plplot soon.

Many thanks

Bug#512490: zope2.10: Problems with zope-formulator with this version of zope (fwd)

2009-01-22 Thread Andreas Tille

Hi Martijn,

I would like to report a problem with the latest version of zope-formulator.
I can confirm that I also have a similar problem with export / import of
zope-formulator objects so there really seems to be a problem.

I have the impression that zope formulator is not very actively maintained
any more (other people just droped the package form the Debian distribution
until I just grabbed it up again). It would be nice if you would keep us
informed about the development status. The last message I see on the
developer list from you is

  https://lists.infrae.com/pipermail/formulator-dev/2006-February/000142.html

which is quite some time ago. Is there any solution for the problem
which is reported below in SVN? Do you see a chance to fix this
problem?

Kind regards and thanks for your work on Zope Formulator

 Andreas.

Bug#512221: please add a symbols file to gpgme

2009-01-22 Thread Bernhard R. Link
* Jose Carlos Garcia Sogo jcs...@gmail.com [090121 00:10]:
 I have been looking at this, but I have a couple of questions:

 1. Where/how/when is dpkg-gensymbols called? I have not seen it called
 when I have added yout file to debian/ dir and rebuilt the package.

dh_makeshlibs calls it

 2. How does this combine with shlibs info? I mean, while packageing I
 create a shlibs file telling that other packages have to depend on
 mine version =1.1.8... how will this info treated together with the
 one contained in symbols file?

hat's described in dpkg-shlibdeps' man page:
| dpkg-shlibdeps has two possible sources of information to
| generate dependency information. Either symbols files or shlibs files.
| For each binary that dpkg-shlibdeps analyzes, it finds out the list
| of libraries that it's linked with. Then, for each library, it looks
| up either the symbols file, or the shlibs file (if the former
| doesn't exist). Both files are supposed to be provided by the library
| package and should thus be available as
| /var/lib/dpkg/info/package.symbols or /var/lib/dpkg/info/package.shlibs.

i.e. the shlibs file is then merely compatibility for older version of
it. (and perhaps it might also be used when a binary links against the
library with no symbols from it at all, but I am not sure).

Hochachtungsvoll,
Bernhard R. Link

sm sometimes fails to layout text properly, but this seems to depend on
the text being displayed, as well as the screen resolution.

One case I can reproduce is on a 1920x1200 display, with the text

colin\n
colin\n
colin\n

(\n being a newline)

Until the last newline is typed, everything is layouted properly:

+---+
|colin  |
|colin  |
|colin  |
+---+

As soon as the last newline is added, all the 'c' are drawn on the left
border, while the rest of the word 'olin' keeps centered. The result
looks something like

+---+
| c   olin  |
| c   olin  |
| c   olin  |
|   |
+---+

Bug#512615: Following manpage instructions overwrites /usr/sbin/sshguard

Bug#512614: xset dpms rejects reasonable values as illegal

2009-01-22 Thread test123
Package: x11-xserver-utils
Version: 7.3+5

SUMMARY:
xset blanking delays occur in series not parallel
xset dpms 30 60 90 means a total of 180 sec before monitor off
thus xset dpms 90 60 30 should also be legal -- but it is not

Hi!

$ xset dpms seconds seconds seconds

sets the delay before X turns your monitor to standby mode, to
suspend mode, and then off.

Pretty simple. Seems to work fine too. Sample output:

$ xset dpms 30 60 90
$ while true; do echo `date +%T` `xset -q | grep Monitor`;
sleep 10; done
00:59:01   Monitor is On
00:59:11   Monitor is On
00:59:21   Monitor is On
00:59:31   Monitor is in Standby
00:59:41   Monitor is in Standby
00:59:51   Monitor is in Standby
01:00:01   Monitor is in Standby
01:00:11   Monitor is in Standby
01:00:21   Monitor is in Standby
01:00:31   Monitor is in Suspend
01:00:41   Monitor is in Suspend
01:00:51   Monitor is in Suspend
01:01:01   Monitor is in Suspend
01:01:11   Monitor is in Suspend
01:01:21   Monitor is in Suspend
01:01:31   Monitor is in Suspend
01:01:41   Monitor is in Suspend
01:01:51   Monitor is in Suspend
01:02:01   Monitor is Off
01:02:11   Monitor is Off
01:02:21   Monitor is Off
01:02:31   Monitor is On
^C
$

Note that it took exactly 30 seconds to reach standby, 60 seconds
AFTER THAT to reach suspend, and then ANOTHER ADDITIONAL 90
seconds
before the monitor turned off. Great, I get it, now I know how
to ask for what I really want.

So! Suppose we want X to wait three minutes before standby and
then 30 seconds each before suspend and off?

$ xset dpms 180 30 30
illegal combination of values
  standby time of 180 is greater than suspend time of 30

Oh no!

OK, this is not of earth-shattering importance, but on the other
hand it should be really easy to fix.

Thanks!

Otherwise some IPs (like 2001::127:0:0:1:0) will match..

Bug#512486: wordtrans-qt: uncompressed man page (although with .gz suffix)

2009-01-22 Thread Evgeni Golov
On Wed, 21 Jan 2009 08:33:38 +0100 Robert Luberda wrote:

 And in fact the page is not compressed

That is true, however I wonder why. When I rebuild the same source on
my Sid box, all manpages are correctly gziped. A binNMU should be
sufficient, but the package is not binNMU-able :(

 moreover it looks like a
 preformatted cat page with few nroff formatting sequences added at the
 beggining

Also true, but the file is still somewhat useable, I dont really want
to fix that now, maybe the maintainer wants? :)

I'll prepare an NMU, making the package binNMU-able, and hoping the new
build will have correctly gziped manpages.

Regards
Evgeni

Bug#512616: [openmpi] missing symbols?

2009-01-22 Thread Christophe Prud'homme
Package: openmpi
Version: 1.3-1
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Hello

I just upgraded to openmpi 1.3-1. The compilation of my codes went fine.
The linking stage sometimes failed with

undefined reference to `MPI::Win::Set_errhandler(MPI::Errhandler const)'
undefined reference to `MPI::Comm::Set_errhandler(MPI::Errhandler const)'

in some external libs (trilinos) using openmpi

When linking is ok, runtime fails with for example

symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libHYPRE_FEI.so.2.0.0: undefined symbol:
_ZN3MPI3Win14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE

After playing with nm I got

nm /usr/lib/openmpi/lib/libmpi_cxx.a
 W _ZN3MPI6Status9Set_errorEi
 W _ZNK3MPI3Win14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZNK3MPI4Comm14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZN3MPI6Status9Set_errorEi
 W _ZNK3MPI3Win14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZNK3MPI4Comm14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZN3MPI6Status9Set_errorEi
 W _ZNK3MPI3Win14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZNK3MPI4Comm14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZN3MPI6Status9Set_errorEi
 W _ZNK3MPI3Win14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZNK3MPI4Comm14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZN3MPI6Status9Set_errorEi
 W _ZNK3MPI3Win14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZNK3MPI4Comm14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZN3MPI6Status9Set_errorEi
 W _ZNK3MPI3Win14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE
 W _ZNK3MPI4Comm14Set_errhandlerERKNS_10ErrhandlerE

which mean that the missing symbol is registered as a weak symbol.

PS: I have -lmpi++ -lmpi at the linking stage and libmpi_cxx.* are present in
/usr/lib/openmpi/lib

Am I missing something with 1.3? shouldn't it be a drop in replacement ?

Bug#512617: kernel repeated warnings

2009-01-22 Thread A.T. Georges

the /var/log/kern.log file grows rapidly and fills up the /var partition

Bug#501275: [Pkg-hpijs-devel] Bug#501275: 2.8.10 is out

 Not yet, I had installed the binary from the hpijs website in the
 meantime.

 But I'll give it a try in the next days, and give you feedback.

I just managed to test the current experimental version (2.8.12-1).

It does not work yet. The hp-check -t output is attached.

 error: Required plug-in status: Not installed

This seems to be the culprit.

But I did run hp-setup and it installed the plugin...

Thanks,
Markus

Bug#512620: update section on handling security issues

2009-01-22 Thread Thijs Kinkhorst
Package: developers-reference
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi,

Please find attached a patch to update the section on handling security
issues. I tried to bring some things more up to date, added a section on
the tracker, and added emphasis on the checks needed before you upload a
package.

I'm available for any comments or suggestions you have to improve it further.

thanks,

Bug#507720: sm: May be related, more garbled text

2009-01-22 Thread Ico Doornekamp

Hi Joachim,

  sm sometimes fails to layout text properly, but this seems to depend on
  the text being displayed, as well as the screen resolution.

 thanks for your report. I have had similar issues as well (first line
 moved up front). Unfortunately, the code in sm is too simple to cause
 this (I think). I guess I???m using pango where no man use used it
 before...

Guess you're right, I've isolated the issue down to the following
snippet, which shows problematic behaviour on my debian machine, but
seems to do ok on a standard ubuntu 8.04 system:

-
/*
 * gcc -o sm sm.c `pkg-config --cflags --libs pango gtk+-2.0`
 */

#include gtk/gtk.h

GtkWidget* window;
PangoFontDescription *font;
PangoLayout* layout;
GtkWidget* draw;
GdkGC *gc;

static void redraw()
{
gdk_draw_layout(draw-window, gc, 0, 0, layout);
}

int main(int argc, char **argv)
{

gtk_init(argc, argv);

window = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL);

draw = gtk_drawing_area_new();
gtk_container_add(GTK_CONTAINER(window), draw);

layout = gtk_widget_create_pango_layout(draw, ico);
font = pango_font_description_new();
pango_font_description_set_size(font, 120 * PANGO_SCALE);
pango_layout_set_font_description(layout, font);

gtk_widget_show_all(window);

gc = gdk_gc_new(draw-window);

g_signal_connect(G_OBJECT(draw), expose-event, G_CALLBACK(redraw),
NULL);

gtk_main();

return 0;
}

---

It doesn't get much simpler than this. My guess is either

a) There's an issue with pango
b) The above snippet does not properly use the pango API

Since the problem does not show on ubuntu, option a seems to be
plausible. If I find the time I'll try to dig a bit deeper into the
libs, although I find these kind of internals a bit scary myself.
Posting on the pango list might be an idea.

Thanks,

Ico

I've called this a minor rather than a normal or serious bug because lenny
still uses python 2.5 by default but this will become a serious bug at the
point where python 2.6 is the norm, unless it is fixed in the meantime.

I've never used python, so I may be the least qualified to hack at these
files to fix the warnings, but if it's as easy as its proponents say, maybe
I'll give it a go ;-)

I've not yet tried playing with the tool, so I've not checked whether I
should also submit a bug to represent any similar issues with running the
tools themselves, but if I find any, I'll submit them at that point.

Cheers  God bless
Sam SammyTheSnake Penny

Bug#512346: Re: Bug#512346: inkscape: window do not maximize and hide borders

2009-01-22 Thread Klebson Porfirio
Any further information...

libgnome-window-settings1   2.22.2.1-2
gnome-panel   2.20.3-5
metacity   2.22.0-2

I discovered another thing:

You can just resize window for the laterals, no vertical movement. But,
when you move one of the Gnome panels for the right or left side the
window is maximized normally. When you move panel for initial position,
the maximize button don't work again and borders disappear. Add another
panel for xfce and try to reproduce.

your patches do not apply anymore to the new evtouch source (0.8.8)
currently in git.
Could you refresh them to apply?
Also, would you mind Cc-ing the upstream developer when resubmitting
(you can find his address in the sources of course)?

Thanks

Bug#512623: mysql: does not start (always crashes)

2009-01-22 Thread Axel K. Stammler
Package: mysql
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Starting mysql from the command line always results in Illegal Instruction,
then execution terminates (of course). The
parameters seem not to change anything. The situation is the same with
mysqldump. (I am trying to connect to a My SQL server
running on another machine in the local network. On that machine, incidentally,
everything runs without any such errors or
warnings.)

thanks for your report. I have had similar issues as well (first line

this (I think). I guess I’m using pango where no man use used it

You could check with pango, fontconfig etc. from experimental, some said
that that works better.

Hello Axel, you shouldn't report the bugs against non-existent binary package
names if you
want to receive the response from the maintainer. It seems you didn't even used
reportbug
utility, because version is not specified too.

However, I'm reassigning this bug to proper (or at least related) package.

Bug#512629: ITP: pct-wired-setup -- program to configure wired networks with system width configuration

2009-01-22 Thread Jelle de Jong
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Jelle de Jong jelledej...@powercraft.nl

Hello everybody,

I would like to get this program into the debian repository, I will package it
and
upload it to debian mentors, I will be looking for a sponser and mentor. This
package is
part of a larger group of packages that will form the pct-desktop-environment
that I have
been working on.

Thanks in advance for any feedback and help.

  Package name: pct-wired-setup
  Version : 0.0.2
  Upstream Author : Jelle de Jong jelledej...@powercraft.nl
  URL :
https://secure.powercraft.nl/svn/packages/trunk/deb/pct-wired-setup/
  License : GPLv3
  Programming Lang: BASH
  Description : program to configure wired networks with system width
configuration

This package contains a script and configuration system to easy and
efficient configure the /etc/network/interfaces file with configurations
like dhcp, static or bridged network setup. It has a configuration file
structure where different setups can be defined, this makes it easy
to switching between network configuration. The script is designed to
setup and maintain simple network configurations for all network clients.
The package is maintained by PowerCraft Technology. Take a look at the
help argument for all the useful and simple options of this tool.

pct-wired-setup is a helper program to efficient setup common
wired network configurations. You can debug this script by
running it as bash -x pct-wired-setup [options]. The script
is a setup wrapper with a profile system to setup the standard
/etc/network/interfaces file.

Bug#512394: Intend to NMU nautilus-python for fixing #512310 and #512394

2009-01-22 Thread Evgeni Golov
Dear nautilus-python maintainers,

I intend to NMU nautilus-python to fix the following two bugs:
#512310 - does not load extensions on archs where int isn't the same as
Py_ssize_t
#512394 - nautilus freezes/crashes when extension calls file.get_vfs_file_info()

The debdiff is attached, are there any objections from your side?

Regards
Evgeni

Bug#512633: The mod_wsgi.Log object does not have a 'closed' attribute

2009-01-22 Thread Arto Jantunen
Package: libapache2-mod-wsgi
Version: 2.3-1
Severity: minor

Some background: The Hatta wiki engine uses a Mercurial repository as
storage for it's data. It does this by directly importing the needed
parts of Mercurial, not by running the actual hg command. In my case
this lead to trouble when my Mercurial repository was in a funky state
due to completely unrelated reasons.

Mercurial wanted to print an error message to sys.stdout. This would've
been easy to correct with the sys.stdout=sys.stderr-trick, except
Mercurial contains code such as if not sys.stdout.closed:
sys.stdout.flush() and the same for stderr. The mod_wsgi.Log object
that replaces sys.stderr doesn't have the closed attribute, so the code
fails and debugging a minor problem with the repo turned into an
interresting project.

It would be nice if an always false closed-attribute could be added to
the Log object for additional compatibility even with code that isn't
originally meant to be used with wsgi.

Bug#512604: netatalk: Lenny Security update breaks existing installs

2009-01-22 Thread Nico Golde
Hi,
* Jonas Smedegaard d...@jones.dk [2009-01-22 09:40]:
 Netatalk store metadata in BerkeleyDB databases per fileshare. These
 databases are specific to the version of BerkeleyDB used and netatalk
 does not automatically upgrade databases when newer version of the
 BerkeleyDB library is used.

 Netatalk build-depend on libdb-dev, which on Etch pulls in libdb4.2-dev
 but on recent Lenny instead pulls in libdb4.6-dev.

 When users update to the recently released security update, all file
 shares will appear empty until the metadata databases are either
 manually updated or the databases removed to have new metadata be
 recreated from scratch.

 Build-depending on libdb4.2-dev instead of libdb-dev fixes this issue.

 Will it be ok for the Security team that I prepare a security update
 2.0.3-11+lenny2 with above one-line fix?

As I didn't touch the build-dependencies in the security
update and didn't really caused the breakage by myself I
would be more happy if you could fix this via t-p-u.

Cheers
Nico

Bug#505269: Bug#498502: Fwd: irssi-plugin-otr bugs and thoughts.

2009-01-22 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
* Uli M a.sporto+...@gmail.com [2009-01-20 23:36:34 CET]:
 By the way, I've seen your other bug(505269) and I've never observed or heard
 of
 what you describe, namely that irssi-otr spits out stuff to random windows.

 Well, it's not completely random, to be honest.

 Usually it will write stuff to the appropriate query window and if that
 doesn't
 exist to the status window. Maybe you could describe a scenario where this
 always happens so I can reproduce it here?!

 When I have an OTR session open with someone and do a /window close I
will be taken to the last window I was in and the OTR finished line goes
to that exact window. I looks like to seems to have the idea of writing
it to the current window expecting it to be the corresponding query
window but that doesn't exist anymore obviously at that stage.

 So long!
Rhonda

Bug#502333: grub-pc: Search uuid in LVM crashes the bootloader

2009-01-22 Thread Robert Millan
On Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 07:19:41PM +0200, Harald Braumann wrote:

 If I remove this stanza and then enter those commands at the grub cmdline

Hi Harald,

There are two search lines in your grub.cfg, and the logs you provided don't
make it clear which of them is causing the problem.
grubdbg-1.96%2B20080724-10.log refers to 249d254f-9ee3-4908-aec6-177 which
is neither of them, and grubdbg-1.96%2B20081201-1.log only has scrambled
output.

I recommend that you try to reproduce this on grub-emu to obtain proper
logs, and also tell us which of the search commands is failing.

Actually, it'd be good to know if the problem appears at all in grub-emu or
not, too.

Bug#512637: ganglia-monitor-core: CVE-2009-0241,CVE-2009-0242 multiple security issues

2009-01-22 Thread Nico Golde
Source: ganglia-monitor-core
Severity: grave
Tags: security patch

Hi,
the following CVE (Common Vulnerabilities Exposures) ids were
published for ganglia-monitor-core.

CVE-2009-0241[0]:
| Stack-based buffer overflow in the process_path function in
| gmetad/server.c in Ganglia 3.1.1 allows remote attackers to cause a
| denial of service (crash) via a request to the gmetad service with a
| long pathname.

CVE-2009-0242[1]:
| Ganglia 3.1.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via
| a request to the gmetad service with a path does not exist, which
| causes Ganglia to (1) perform excessive CPU computation and (2) send
| the entire tree, which consumes network bandwidth.

Patches can be found on:

http://www.mail-archive.com/ganglia-develop...@lists.sourceforge.net/msg04929/server-c-multi-item-request.diff

If you fix the vulnerabilities please also make sure to include the
CVE ids in your changelog entry.

* URL : http://openfontlibrary.org/media/files/Daniel_J/358

  Description : A monospaced, sans-serif font.
 This font was originally inspired by work I was doing on a monospace Kayah Li

Bug#512544: patch

2009-01-22 Thread Pierre Habouzit
tag 512544 + patch
thanks

The problem is that ncurses decides to select() on its own, and sets a default
delay value of 1000 miliseconds for it, which is one full second.

This can be modified, and I default it to 100msec now, which makes such
problems bearable for the UI (0.1 sec is not perceived as slow) and should
still work across slow internet links. The user can pass now a -e 1000
argument to set it back to the 1s default if they experience issues due to
e.g. a slow link, or usage on a really slow serial link e.g.

I've not patched the manpage though ;)

Regards.

Bug#512639: puppetmaster should recommend libldap-ruby1.8

2009-01-22 Thread Thijs Kinkhorst
Package: puppetmaster
Version: 0.24.5-3
Severity: minor

Hi,

When using puppetrun, the user is presented with an error message every time
if he doesn't have libldap-ruby1.8 installed, even if you don't use LDAP:

| # puppetrun --host example1.example.com
| Failed to load ruby LDAP library. LDAP functionality will not be available
| Finished

This is simply solved by installing that package. In order to avoid the
error, puppetmaster could Recommend libldap-ruby1.8. From what I read in
the docs it's a deliberate choice to display this warning when LDAP
support is not available.

thanks,
Thijs

Bug#502333: grub-pc: Search uuid in LVM crashes the bootloader

 Hi Harald,

 There are two search lines in your grub.cfg, and the logs you provided
don't
 make it clear which of them is causing the problem.
 grubdbg-1.96%2B20080724-10.log refers to 249d254f-9ee3-4908-aec6-177
which
 is neither of them, and grubdbg-1.96%2B20081201-1.log only has scrambled
 output.
I entered the search command manually. Could be that I mistyped something.
But I think, it doesn't really matter, because grub crashes before it
finds
the volume, anyway. The logs seem to contain control characters. Well,
they're
minicom dumps.

 I recommend that you try to reproduce this on grub-emu to obtain proper
 logs, and also tell us which of the search commands is failing.
I'll do that.

 Actually, it'd be good to know if the problem appears at all in grub-emu
or
 not, too.
I would expect it to. My guess is, that grub finds the journal volume,
thinks
its ext2 (which it kind of is) and expects to find some things, which are
not there
because it's not ext2, after all.

Cheers,
harry

The proxy support only concerns libgwenhywfar, it is transparent to all layers
above it. So if KmyMoney is compiled against gwenhywfar 3.7.0 it should
transparently support HTTP proxies (just define the environment variable as

Hello Vincent,

Many thanks for your bug report.

It would be easy to shortcut this by setting
em:maxVersion3.0.*/em:maxVersion in install.rdf, which I did.
Unfortunately, BioFox does not seem to work with sequences in the cut-paste

I will try to contact upstream, but otherwise it might be the kiss of death for

PS: I could not figure out how to start extensions in IceApe.

Hello Daniel,

I'm glad you got my mail. I will look forward for the other weights. Thank you.
I don't even know what Kayah Li is, but I'm generally interested in typography.
(Check the Beteckna font on wikipedia for example).

Hi Gurkan.

My name is Daniel Johnson, and my email address is il.basso.bu...@gmail.com.

If you can wait a couple days, I will have a few more weights of the
font available. I created a Book weight, and am finishing off a
Medium weight.

On the other hand, if you are interested in this font because of the
Kayah Li support, those glyphs will be included in the next version of
FreeMono (http://www.gnu.org/software/freefont/).

Regards,
Daniel

I don't even know what Kayah Li is, but I'm generally interested in
typography.

Kayah Li is a minority script for the Red Karenni people of eastern
Burma (Myanmar). Because the Burmese government tends to persecute
minority populations, this writing system is only taught outside
Burma, primarily in refugee camps in Thailand.

I am currently looking into licensing options -- the Kayah Li glyphs
will be included in FreeMono, which is licensed under GPL3; but I'd
like this font to be OFL. I've asked the FreeFonts maintainer for
advice, so this should be resolved soon.

Daniel

Hello again.

Unfortunatly we was not carefull enough with previous patch. sortkoi8r script
works as it should only in C locale (or may be some other latin-1). But you
built package not in clean environment. As a result sorting was aufull and
dictionary became unusable.

To fix it please replace ./sortkoi8 with LANG=C ./sortkoi8 in debian/rules

Bug#511265: FTBFS: (on lenny) gdl/gdl-icons.h header missing

2009-01-22 Thread Bernd Zeimetz
Hi,

I've uploaded an NMU to unstable and tpu to fix this bug, patch (of the upload
to unstable) is attached.
Not sure if it would make sense to rise the build-dep. of libgdl in unstable
for future uploads as it would break backports.

Cheers,

Bernd

 The proxy support only concerns libgwenhywfar, it is transparent to all
 layers above it. So if KmyMoney is compiled against gwenhywfar 3.7.0 it
 should transparently support HTTP proxies (just define the environment
 variable as in GWEN_PROXY=myproxy.org:8080).

So I suggest that we change KBanking to setup this environment variable from
the KDE settings each time it executes a job. Then the setting would be
transparent for the user and stored in a common place.

Bug#506634: lvm2 installed?

2009-01-22 Thread Tobias Kunze Briseño
I had the same symptom (well, the message cryptsetup: failed to setup
lvm device, but I didn't wait for initrd to drop me into busybox).

Inspection of the initrd via

   mkdir /tmp/initrd  cd /tmp/initrd
   zcat /boot/initrd.img-VERSION | cpio -id

showed that, among others, sbin/lvm2 was missing. Sure enough,

   dpkg -l lvm\*

confirmed that the lvm2 package had somehow (unintentionally) been
purged, so I ran

   aptitude install lvm2
   update-initramfs -u -k VERSION

et voilà!, problem solved (for me).

HTH,

-Tobias

Bug#512644: openoffice.org: Some dates, in Calc, change automatically to 1 day past (until Jan/02/1914)

2009-01-22 Thread Renato S. Yamane
Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1:2.4.1-15
Severity: normal

If you type any date, in Calc, (until Jan/02/1914) this field is automatically
changed to 1 day past.

Steps to reproduce:
- Open OOo Calc
- Type in any cell: 01/01/1910
- After leave this cell, this date will be changed to 12/31/1909

I confirm this bug in format DD/MM/ (and until Jan/02/1914), I *don't know*
if it can be found in other formats, as MM/DD/.

This bug is confirmed in Fedora 10 too (by user Osavaldo Kussama):
OpenOffice.org3.0.0
OOO300m9 (Build:9358)
Ver:3.0.0-9.10.fc10

This bug is not confirmed in OOo from SUN (as said my user Olivier Hallot).
Maybe only in Go-OO.

Best regards,
Renato S. Yamane

 A zsh completion would be really nice.

Bug#512645: lintian reports errors in package foo, because it does not honor files in the foo-data package, on which foo depends

2009-01-22 Thread Fabian Greffrath

Package: lintian
Severity: minor
Version: 2.1.5

Dear lintian maintainers,

sorry for the subject line, but my concern is a little bit too
complicated to describe it in one line, I guess. ;)

Imagine I build a package foo, which consists of a binary in /usr/bin
and architecture-independent content in /usr/share. Since the stuff in
/usr/share takes quite a lot of space (think of files in
/usr/share/locale) I want to put it in an arch:all package called
foo-data. To achieve this I tell foo's Makefile that it must install
into destdir=$CURDIR)/debian/tmp; then I create a debian/foo.install
file containing the line debian/tmp/usr/bin and a
debian/foo-data.install file that contains debian/tmp/usr/share. Of
course foo now also needs to depend on foo-data which I achieve by
adding foo-data (=${source:Version}) to foo's Depends line in
debian/control. Alright, nothing new so far.

But now, if I run lintian on the newly created packages, I get
warnings like binary-without-manpage: usr/bin/foo which simply isn't
true. There *is* a manpage for /usr/bin/foo, it simply isn't installed
in the foo package but in the foo-data package and I even made sure
that foo does not get installed without foo-data.

Could you please make lintian check if there is a package (foo-data)
created from the same source that contains the obviously missing files
and if the assumed faulty package (foo) depends on this package
(foo-data)?

Thank you very much!

Cheers,
Fabian

Bug#502333: grub-pc: Search uuid in LVM crashes the bootloader

 I entered the search command manually. Could be that I mistyped something.

No. It's a different one than what is in your grub.cfg. Perhaps you
regenerated the filesystem, I don't know. But you didn't tell us which
one. There are _two_ of them.

Sounds plausible. If you can reproduce it in grub-emu, it'll be much simpler.
Then you will probably get a SIGSEV instead of a reboot.

Agree, but even that is is annoying bug IMHO it should have minor
severity.

I forwarded this bug to upstream.

Bug#512604: netatalk: Lenny Security update breaks existing installs

 Netatalk store metadata in BerkeleyDB databases per fileshare. These
 databases are specific to the version of BerkeleyDB used and netatalk
 does not automatically upgrade databases when newer version of the
 BerkeleyDB library is used.

 Netatalk build-depend on libdb-dev, which on Etch pulls in
 libdb4.2-dev but on recent Lenny instead pulls in libdb4.6-dev.

 When users update to the recently released security update, all file
 shares will appear empty until the metadata databases are either
 manually updated or the databases removed to have new metadata be
 recreated from scratch.

 Build-depending on libdb4.2-dev instead of libdb-dev fixes this
 issue.

 Will it be ok for the Security team that I prepare a security update
 2.0.3-11+lenny2 with above one-line fix?

As I didn't touch the build-dependencies in the security
update and didn't really caused the breakage by myself I
would be more happy if you could fix this via t-p-u.

I agree: you did nothing wrong in your earlier security fix, the problem
was a different issue that would occur at _any_ recent recompile.

I just thought that when occuring through lenny-security it was best to
fix it at that same channel.

But ok, I go through release team to fix it there.
