I didn't find any statement that all copyright holders of GPL'ed code
have given extra permission to link with OpenSSL.

Thanks for pointing out the problem, we (aegis developers) do not notice
it probably because Aegis does not require to link directly with
openssl.

I'll contact other members of the development team to decide actions to
be taken.

Bug#522366: totem: segfaults on ogv video

2009-04-03 Thread Nicolas Évrard

Package: totem
Version: 2.22.2-5
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hello, I downloaded the Zeitgeist video[1] from the gnome website, at
first I was surprised that the video did not started in epiphany. Then
the video was displayed by banshee instead of the usual totem when I
clicked on it.

So I tried to use totem to watch it. Here is the output:

kinder:~% LANG=C totem Téléchargements/Zeitgeist.ogv
#1,8465

ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstladspa.so

Please either:
- remove it and restart.
- run with --gst-disable-segtrap and debug.
Error re-scanning registry , child terminated by signal
Run 'totem --help' to see a full list of available command line
options.

and then following the advice:

kinder:~% LANG=C totem --debug --gst-disable-segtrap
Téléchargements/Zeitgeist.ogv
Error re-scanning registry , child terminated by signal
Run 'totem --help' to see a full list of available command line options.

Bug#522367: request-tracker3.8: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review

2009-04-03 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: request-tracker3.8
Version: N/A
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Dear Debian maintainer,

On Thursday, March 19, 2009, I notified you of the beginning of a review process
concerning debconf templates for request-tracker3.8.

The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates,
and the proposed changes are attached to this bug report.

Please review the suggested changes, and if you have any
objections, let me know in the next 3 days.

However, please try to avoid uploading request-tracker3.8 with these changes
right now.

The second phase of this process will begin on Monday, April 06, 2009, when I
will
coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates.

The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will
receive an updated PO file for their language.

Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to
the debian-i18n mailing list.

Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as
individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug
reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with.

The call for translation updates and new translations will run until
about Monday, April 27, 2009. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or
changed
debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of
course, other changes are safe.

Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my
own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact
that I simultaneously work on many packages.

Around Tuesday, April 28, 2009, I will contact you again and will send a final
patch
summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates,
updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations).

Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation.

Bug#399041: #399041: please deal with .git/.git directories a bit more gracefully

2009-04-03 Thread Jonathan Nieder
found 399041 1:1.6.2-1
thanks

Hi,

Some notes:

 1. git svn init from a .git directory still creates .git/.git
instead of acting like git --bare svn init.
 2. Similarly for git init.
 3. git ls-remote .git, git clone .git, etc. are still unhelpful,
so bare repositories with .git subdir are still unusable.
 4. In git 1.5.0-rc0 (commit ef0a89a Provide more meaningful output
from 'git init-db'.), git init and git svn init learned to tell what
GIT_DIR they are using, so problems 1 and 2 above are harmless now.
 5. In git 1.5.0-rc4 the gitk issue was fixed by using the more robust
'show-ref' command (commit 0f57a3 gitk: Use show-ref instead of
ls-remote).

Making a .git/.git directory by accident is difficult, but if you do
it, you won't know until you try to use your .git directory as a
remote repo.

Most git commands (like git show-ref) use setup_git_directory_gently,
so they test .git, .git/, ./, etc in turn for objects/, refs/, or
valid HEAD. But upload-pack uses enter_repo. So: we should either
change upload-pack to not bail out on the first non-git directory it
finds, or factor out a better helper function from
setup_git_directory_gently. enter_repo repeats the logic from
is_git_directory already.

But I could be speaking total nonsense --- it's hard to tell at this
hour. Hope I haven't wasted too much time with my speculation -- I
better sleep before I look into this further.

Regards,
Jonathan

Unfortunately the release in stable is not the right one. It is CDK 5

For CDK the release date, as the 20090215 for the current version is

some kind of minor version and unfortunately CPM depends on that exact

I have uploaded speech-tools/1:1.2.96~beta-4 to unstable, which is
supposed to fix this problem. Unfortunately, it looks as though it
will not migrate to testing automatically as it says Updating
speech-tools introduces new bugs: #520445 on the PTS page. Does
powerman also require an upload? Or is there a way to indicate
 that
this issue has been sorted out?

Thanks, and sorry for the trouble.

have you marked the bug as being closed by your upload (ie adding a
Closes: #520445 in debian/changelog). Since the bug is shared by
 the 2
packages, this should fix the situation.
  cheers,

  Seems so:

  http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/speech-tools/news/20090328T153211Z.html

In fact, the graph generated in the BTS also shows this aspect, which
  led me to the confusion.

Normally it should be OK when one of the two packages closes the bug.
That is the sematics of assigning a bug to two packages. However,
I am not sure whether that feature of the BTS is used a lot so I
wouldn't exclude completely that there is a bug. Please observe
what is going on with the packages, if they continue to be blocked
from testing migration please talk to the release team.

Anyway, hanks for fixing taht bug :-) -Ralf.

I've an upload scheduled for i10n and at least 2 bug fixes around april 14.
so for my part, if nut is still blocked, that will trigger a rebuild...

Description : RFC 2229 compliant modular dictionary server
Dico is an implementation of DICT server (RFC 2229). It is fully
modular: the daemon itself (dicod) provides only the server
functionality, but it knows nothing about database formats. Actual
searches are performed by functions supplied in loadable modules. A
single module can serve one or more databases.

The package includes several modules for searching in different
dictionary databases, among them a module for dict.org databases and a
module for databases in Emacs outline format.

A console client program, `dico', is also included.

A module for lookups in Jim Breen's Kanjidic and Edict databases will
be added in future.

Bug#522370: Updating gconf2 to 2.24 freezes gnome-session startup

2009-04-03 Thread Cedric Blancher
Package: gconf2
Version: 2.24.0-7
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

When I upgrade gconf2 and directly related packages from 2.22 to 2.24,
gnome-session does not start anymore.
After login, desktop background is displayed, then everything is stuck,
even before Gnome splash screen. It does also affect Rescue Session, as
well as every user on the system, including freshly created accounts.

Downgrading to 2.22 restores system usability.

Thanks for your report. Looks like a bug in the new Packages.diff

Adding DownloadListsAs: .bz2 .gz . to the rule in conf/updates should
work around this problem until a fixed package is available.
(Urgs, after I think I found it, even DownloadListsAs: .diff .bz2 .gz .

Bug#522371: gnuplot: FTBFS on armel, mipsel, sparc (due to missing dependency?)

2009-04-03 Thread Stephane Glondu
Package: gnuplot
Version: 4.2.4-6
Severity: serious
Justification: no longer builds from source

Hello,

The package gnuplot fails to build on many architectures [1]. For
example, on mipsel, it fails with:

 dvips -j0 ps_fontfile_doc

 /nonexistent/.dvipsrc: Permission denied
This is dvips(k) 5.96.1 Copyright 2007 Radical Eye Software

There are similar errors on armel and sparc.

The file cm-super-t1.enc is provided by the package cm-super-minimal,
and having it installed makes the build succeed (at least on armel).

I guess this build-dependency is missing, but I still wonder why build
succeeded on many other architectures.

Cheers,

Bug#522372: bacula: README.Debian misses some crucial information

2009-04-03 Thread Frank IJskes
Package: bacula
Version: 2.4.4-1
Severity: minor

After installation of bacula, bacula-dir / bacula-sd / bacula-fd /bacula-mysql
, I needed to do some configuration.
I had to debug somse scripts to figure out how to get there and I had problems
with the daemons connecting with each other.

I suggest that the following will be mentioned in the README.Debian files, so
other people will beneift from my time spent with it:

[part1]
When using passwords for MySQL you need to consider a way to pass this password
to mysql.
Default settings are that this password is not sent when doing a catalog-dump,
because it is passed on the command line, and every logged in user can see this.
If you have no users on this machine, you can change the line
 RunBeforeJob = /etc/bacula/scripts/make_catalog_backup bacula bacula
to
 RunBeforeJob = /etc/bacula/scripts/make_catalog_backup bacula bacula
PASSWORDHERE

Otherwise, one has to figure out another way (sorry I cannot help with this
part)

[part2]
Although it is mentioned in the conf files, that one should use fully
distinguised names, it is not mentioned in all conf files.
One needs to enter the FQDN at the following places, and thereby replacing the
defaults. Even if this FQDN resolves to 127.0.0.1

IE:
bacula-dir.conf:
Client {
  Name = hrbackup01-fd
Address = hrbackup01.intranet.example.com # YOU NEED TO ENTHER FQDN HERE AS

FDport = 9102 # where we listen for the director
  WorkingDirectory = /var/lib/bacula
  Pid Directory = /var/run/bacula
  Maximum Concurrent Jobs = 20
# FDAddress = 127.0.0.1
FDAddress = hrbackup01.intranet.example.com # YOU NEED TO ENTHER FQDN HERE
AS WELL
}

bacula-sd.conf
Storage { # definition of myself
  Name = hrbackup01-sd
  SDPort = 9103  # Director's port
  WorkingDirectory = /var/lib/bacula
  Pid Directory = /var/run/bacula
  Maximum Concurrent Jobs = 20
SDAddress = hrbackup01.intranet.example.com # YOU NEED TO ENTHER FQDN HERE
AS WELL
# SDAddress = 127.0.0.1
}

[part3]
After configuration as mentioned above you need to create a volume by issuing
the command label to the director.

These additions will kick of a new user.

Thank You

Frank IJskes

doesn't show up there (without restart) it won't in virt-manager either.
You do have hal running?

Unplug and replug of USB devices works fine on squeeze here (looking at

Bug#522373: ftp.debian.org: Please clarify on acceptance policy of packages containing mpeg related algorithms

2009-04-03 Thread Reinhard Tartler
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: important

Hello ftp-master,

I'm filing this request as a bug for your convenience. The information
in this mail has been thoroughly discussed with Diego Biurrun, who is a
very active upstream contributor maintaining the build system for both
FFmpeg and MPlayer. I've tried several times to approach ftp-master on
this, but all my previous attempts have failed. On 2009/03/14, Joerg
Jaspert asked to me write another email, so here we go.

Currently the policy on the acceptance of packages containing code
implementing mpeg related algorithms is pretty inconsistent. For the
ffmpeg package, it has been decided at debconf7 that not even source
redistribution of mpeg *encoders* is allowed in debian. This is
documented in the ffmpeg package [1].

Technically, the debian ffmpeg package implements the pruning of the
ffmpeg tree using a small shell script called debian/strip.sh [2]. The
script does not actually remove the encoder implementations, but rather
makes them unreachable from the application code. No decoders are being
disabled, only encoders are affected by [2].

Currently, [2] strips out the following encoders (in the notation as
used upstream):

 - h263
 - mpeg2video
 - mpeg4
 - msmpeg4

that list of encoders is most likely not complete, it is very possible
that additional encoders are left enabled in the debian package.
However, I have no detailed knowledge what encoders are affected by
ftp-master's policy, so again, I'm asking for clarification what ffmpeg
encoders need to be disabled for what exact reason. I need to ask for
the reason because it is not obvious at all what the term mpeg related
actually means. I'll outline my personal opinion on that further below.

This policy is very inconsistently enforced in the archive. Some
packages do not need to do this at all (xine, vlc, mplayer, to name only
the most prominent ones), some others are obviously not being accepted
in the archive at all (mjpegtools [3], transcode, etc). If I'm wrong
here, please correct me. I therefore ask for a clarification and
rationale of this requirement. I currently suspect that this is a
miscommunication and ftp-master did not actually mean to require the
stripping procedure to be applied. If that is the case, the encoders
will be disabled using configure switches provided by the upstream build
system, instead of patching the upstream source in the next upload.

Since my last enquiry, I've been in good contact with upstream, and we
had several phone-calls on that topic. Up to our current research, we
have made the following observations:

 - some patents relevant for the source code found in the FFmpeg package
are held by the MPEG Licensing Association (MPEG LA) [4].

 - the MPEG LA has a rather straightforward patent policy. They charge
for both encoders and decoders on a sold unit basis. We now really
wonder where the restriction on mpeg encoders actually comes
from. We know that for MP3 and AAC the charges for encoders are
higher than for decoders [4], but again, that's not what we are
   talking about in this context.

 - FFmpeg does provide wrappers for libmp3lame and libfaac, but as these
packages are not in debian, they are not being enabled. The wrappers
are still available in the source package, though.

NB: these wrappers are only used to *encode* MP3/AAC content!

 - As far as we understand [7] the MPEG LA does not charge royalities
for intermediate products, that are not sold or shipped directly to
the enduser. We believe that source code falls under this definition.

 - Debian ships other unstripped copies of FFmpeg in other source
packages. Most of them however (if not all) do not compile that copy.

Because of these observations, we feel that the requirement on the
source code pruning is rather pointless. We therefore ask for
clarification if that is actually necessary or not, and if yes, we
obviously must have overlooked some argumens. In that case we need to
know on what basis ftp-master requires the ffmpeg-source package to be
stripped.

This discussion here is actually not limited the FFmpeg source package
in debian. In order for package maintainers to make the right decisions,
some guidance on ftp-master's policy is needed. Most helpful (and IMO
absolutely necessary) is a document that clarifies under which
conditions must which code be removed/disabled/mangled/etc. from
packages in Debian, and which of these modifications ftp-master requires
to be applied to the source as well. As soon as we all know what we are
talking about, we can go and fix packages.

For the FFmpeg package [6], I see several options:

 1. we accept ffmpeg unmodified in main
 2. we reject ffmpeg from main completely
a) but allow an unmodified ffmpeg in non-free
b) and don't allow even in non-free
 3. we introduce a new archive section for this class of packages and
its reverse dependencies.

Hi

As 3.1-2 is in stable it's very unfortunate that the changelog entry was
dropped in unstable.

This makes it hard for you as you should verify for every bug reported to
stable if it also affects unstable and mark it as such without any clear
incentive as the BTS thinks the version was only in stable.

This is also very confusing regarding bug #505681.

Bug#509613: linux-image-2.6-openvz-amd64: kernel oops on net device reconfiguration

2009-04-03 Thread Steven Chamberlain
Hi,

I was having problems with linux-image-2.6.26-1-openvz-amd64 that seem
very similar to this. If I tried starting/rebooting any VE after
creating any NAT iptables rules, I got a NULL pointer dereference
followed by OOPSes just as the VE's network interfaces came up. I've
attached the relevant kernel output in case anyone should experience the
same.

I tried the patch from Lars Hanke, as well as several others from the
OpenVZ git repository, all to no avail. I very much appreciated the
instructions for patching/rebuilding a Debian-packaged kernel though.

However, I tried lenny-proposed-updates as suggested by Dann Frazier and
installed linux-image-2.6.26-2-openvz-amd64 and I'm very pleased to say
my problem has been fixed. Many thanks to all involved!

Bug#522377: ffmpeg2raw in lenny doesn't work at all

2009-04-03 Thread Holger Levsen
package: smilutils
version: 0.3.2+cvs20070731-4
severity: important
x-debbugs-cc: Thomas Viehmann t...@beamnet.de, debian-rele...@lists.debian.org

Hi,

ffmpeg2raw doesn't work at all with the version of smilutils in lenny.

The issue has been fixed by the 0.3.2+cvs20070731-4.1 NMU and Thomas Viehmann
has been so kind to provide a targeted patch for the lenny version, which is
attached. I've tested the patch and it works for me :-) debdiff is attached.

Since 0.3.2+cvs20070731-4.1 hasnt migrated to squeeze yet (as its part of an
ffmpeg transition going on atm), this couldnt go into 5.0.1 anyway (as smilutils
didn't migrate earlier as it was part of the ffmpeg-transition, but I'd still
like to (see it) fix(ed) for 5.0.2. SRMs, can I NMupload to s-p-u once 5.0.1
is out?

(Maintainer approved but is looking for someone to adopt the package, which
won't be me, my plate is too full already.)

Thomas accompanied the patch with the following words:

Attached is a patch doing only the pointer fixes. Now the compilation
only warns about the deprecated (but still existing in lenny) ffmpeg
functions. The Again, the config.{sub, guess} changes are just an
artifact of compilation (debian/rules updates them), the valuable
changes are all in the ffmpeg2raw.c.

Mind you, compiler warnings like
playlist.cc:942: warning: address of local variable 'data' returned
(I saw that while idly watching compilation) are a fail-safe recipe for
segfaults, too, but I cannot fix everything. This and the segfault for
not checking strrchr's return value before passing it strncasecmp I
pointed out in my mail with the NMUdiff to the original bug report
(segfault when calling rawplay with files without extension) makes me
think that you should try to find an interested party with C skills
(i.e. not me) to look over some things.

Bug#522378: hal: depends on libvolume-id0 which is no longer available in Sid

2009-04-03 Thread Dave Witbrodt
Package: hal
Version: 0.5.11-8
Severity: important

Running Sid here, and after a recent update noticed that package
'libvolume-id0' had become obsolete, but APT was not removing it from my
system. Investigating, I found that 'hal' depends on 'libvolume-id0',
which has been replaced by 'libvolume-id1' due to a recent upgrade in
the version of 'udev'.

Just to make sure I wasn't having a problem with my repository mirror, I
checked here:

http://packages.debian.org/unstable/admin/hal

Sure enough, this appears in the list of packages 'hal' depends on:

libvolume-id0 (= 0.113-1~) [not hurd-i386]
Package not available

Is there a new version of 'hal' on the way, rebuilt against the new
version of 'udev'?

Apparently they don’t, I received yet another bug today which is

Frankly I don’t see any use in launching gnome-session without a session

there is only MinGW-Make.exe or something, prefs editing is needed to make it

Bug#477664: Seeing the same problem

2009-04-03 Thread Quique
I have the same problem.

I launch xtightvncviewer 1.3.9-4 with the -listen option, but when I
try to connect using UltraVNC 4.10.0.1, the console shows the message
Connected to RFB server, using protocol version 3.8, and no window
appears. There isn't any VPN or firewall involved.

I built v1.3.10 from source, and keep seeing the same problem. I ended
up installing v1.2.9-21 from stable, which works fine.
Has this bug been reported upstream?

Thanks.

 Correct, works fine now.

So it's just a matter of adding something like please dont load the
in-kernel hdaps module if you want tp-smapi to either README.Debian or
  the long description?

README.Debian would be the right place imo. Something like Make sure
the in-kernel hdaps module is not loaded if you want to use the one form
 the tp-smapi.

Actually, this is the case in tp-smapi-source:

WARNING! You can not use stock kernel HDAPS at the same time with
tp-smapi! This package builds an improved version of HDAPS, and replace
the one in the kernel.

If you have the stock kernel hdaps module loaded, unload it before
loading tp-smapi, or you'll get errors.

So we need to install that file in linux-modules-extra-2.6 too and it's
done.

thanks,

Here's upstream's reply:

For the VNC listen address, most people find it more convenient to set this up
system wide, so all VMs listen on the public address. You typically need to
setup security credentials for the server in the system wide config already, so
its easy to change the default listen address at the same time. On Xen this is
/etc/xen/xend-config.sxp, and for QEMU this is /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf

 Since I pulled libqt 4.5 from experimental, lyx has become very unstable;
I can consistently freeze it by commening a line in the document preamble,
for instance; but it happens in many situations I didn't exactly spot.
When it frezees, it doesn't push anything to stdout or sdterr, not even when
 started with lyx -dbg any.
I've only experienced this with lyx, so I wouldn't blame the libraries...
I'm tagging this bug as normal because the problem hasn't hit unstable yet,
but it makes lyx barely usable.

I just uploaded lyx 1.6.2, can you try this version?

debian stable with kernel 2.6.28.8 and samba 3.2.5-4

On several clients:
debian stable/testing (tested by various kernels), winXP (sp1/2), ubuntu 8.x

client side:
mount.cifs //192.168.1.130/upload /home/user0/upload -o
username=user0,password=user0
done

mkdir /home/user0/upload/tmpdir0
touch /home/user0/upload/tmpdir0/tmpfile0
touch /home/user0/upload/tmpfile1

ls -la /home/user0/upload

drwxr-xr-x 2 user0 user0 0 2009-04-03 12:29 tmpdir0
-rwxr--r-- 1 user0 user0 2 2009-04-03 12:32 tmpfile0

-rw-r--r-- 1 user0 user0 1 2009-04-03 12:35 tmpfile1

everything is ok :-)

cp -rv /home/user0/10filesdir /home/user0/upload/
cp: cannot create regular file [...] access denied. [...] for all files

Thus: ONLY if I copy a dir with several files inside it born a copy error!
Because seems that the permission (server side) are correctly, but I don't
understand the problem :-/

Using konqueror (smb://192.168.1.130/upload) this problem there isn't:
everything is ok. Same with winXP and osx

I tried several options on the server and clients: add/remove unix permissions
= yes, on mount: add nodfs, etc.

I wish resolve the problem because I've 2 production servers.

Very thanks :-)

Bug#522264: dovecot-auth startup failure with libicudata40.so

reassign 522264 libicu40
thanks

Hello,

I've switched back to dovecot Version 1.1.12-1 and it also NOT worked in
the first try. So I changed some settings and tried around with the
/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf and the result was, that if I got under an
special limit with two settings the error occured again and when I rised
these settings to an higher value it works:

According to this sentence, I think this bug is related to libicu40 and not
to dovecot, this I'm reassigning the bug report to that package.

Best regards.

Bug#522389: findutils: find manual page is not consistent with path / wholename changes

2009-04-03 Thread Simon Waters
Package: findutils
Version: 4.4.0-2
Severity: minor

As per resolved bug #336078 POSIX standardised on path/ipath over
wholename/iwholename

However manual page still says ipath is deprecated use iwholename.
Whilst wholename correctly says to prefer path for portability.
Took me a while to track down the explanation and current status of these
options.

I believe upstreams online documentation is also incorrect on this matter,
although the code correctly (since 4.4.0) no longer warns about use of ipath,
and the changelog and NEWS both notes these changes and why.

Bug#522394: dkim-filter: SEGV when under heavy load signing outbound messages

2009-04-03 Thread Russell Coker
Package: dkim-filter
Version: 2.6.0.dfsg-1

Below is the GDB output from a dkim-filter crash.

I have a E2160 dual-core system running dkim-filter to sign outbound mail.
I configure Postal to send 2,500 messages per minute through it so that they
will be signed and sent out to another machine. After a few minutes it gives
a SEGV.

Let's leave the explicit prohibition on X11R6 for at least one more
release. imake used to be really common and one still occasionally runs
into software that expects this sort of layout. I think it doesn't hurt
matters to leave it for a bit longer.

I agree: x11-common still includes /usr/X11R6/bin. We should wait until
/usr/X11R6 is completly removed from Debian before removing it from policy,
if only to says that /usr/X11R6 must not be used.

So for me, on a v7 hash created with db3_load 3.2.9+dfsg-0.1, db4.7_dump will
corrupt the database file
unless either -r or -R are specified. With a v8 btree, a db4.7_dump -p will
output correctly but a
db4.7_dump -d a will not. In either case, dumping the v8 btree does not appear
to lead to data loss.

a db4.7_verify on the v7 hash gives an error about an impossible max_buckets
setting in the metadata
page. It does this because it in the partially-quoted patch above, it clobbers
the last_pgno setting
and compares 1, for instance, against 0 instead of 2.

I don't know if this fix is comprehensive and I don't know what it breaks. I
will attempt to escalate
this to Oracle.

Bug#522398: libcairo2: Missing R (red) channel in font/icon rendering on Exceed X server

2009-04-03 Thread Julian Mehnle
Package: libcairo2
Version: 1.8.6-2
Severity: normal

I am using my Debian workstation via an Exceed network X server from my
Windows workstation.

I recently upgraded my workstation to the latest Squeeze. Now I cannot
run GTK applications without fonts and certain icons getting rendered in
an odd way: it seems as if the R (red) channel was nulled. Please see
the attached screen shot. You will notice that KDE applications (here:
konqueror) are not affected.

This looks very much like a problem that was discovered in the process of
fixing http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7294 (cf. comment
#30 et al.), which I also was affected by back then. This is the main
reason why I think that libcairo2 is the culprit now. During my system
upgrade, libcairo2 was upgraded from 1.6.4-7 to 1.8.6-2. With 1.6.4
everything was working fine, although GTK applications admittedly ran more
slowly than they do now.

I do not dare marking this bug as important because probably only users
of certain remote X servers are affected, but it effectively prevents me
from using GTK applications productively.

Bug#522350: Pidgin Crashes Immediately on open

2009-04-03 Thread Mike Bentzen
Yes, I do have an XMPP account set up to auto-login. If I disable it, it
works. But as soon as I connect to an XMPP account, it crashes.
I just used gdb for output and is related to a raiseXMLerror.

Does this help? Is it a known bug?

Bug#522401: Version check mismatch in bugzilla/germzilla template

2009-04-03 Thread Markus Wollny
Package: bugzilla3
Version: 3.0.4.1-2+lenny1

After manually migrating a bugzilla 2.22 instance from Etch to bugzilla3 on
Lenny, a warning message from Germzilla, the german language packet for
bugzilla, appears in the header when the german language is selected. The
warning reads:

Version 3.0.4.1-2+lenny1 mit Germzilla Version 3.0.4-1 (Die Germzilla-Version
ist für die Bugzilla-Version nicht geeignet!)

(i.e. the Germzilla version is not fit for use with the Bugzilla version).

A possible fix would be to patch
/var/lib/bugzilla3/template/de/default/global/gzversion.html.tmpl like this:
5c5
 [%+ IF Bugzilla_version.match(^$for_bz_version(-.*)?\$) %]
---
 [%+ IF Bugzilla_version.match(^$for_bz_version(\..*)?\$) %]

After that, the warning disappeared, the message now reads:

Version 3.0.4.1-2+lenny1 mit Germzilla Version 3.0.4-1

I am not 100% sure that this might not be some result of the manual migration,
so it'd be nice if somebody else could confirm the issue. It seems to be
cosmetic in nature, as I haven't noticed any other effect yet.

Kind regards

   Markus

 Above seems suspicious.

I think it's a message from gdb when it's asked to make the backtrace
for bug-buddy.

I am confused - how did bug-buddy and gdb get involved when you invoked
some commands from a terminal?!?

Are you using Debian or Debian + some custom stuff?

Please if you do unusual things then tell about it, to ease isolating
the problem and find a fix.

Please provide the output of these commands:

  echo $PATH

/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/games:/var/lib/gems/1.8/bin:/home/matijs/bin

Please provide output of the following commands too:

Bug#507538: AFP just allows 128 concurrent connections

2009-04-03 Thread Frank Lahm
Hi,

MAXSRV does NOT set the maximum number of afpd connections! It sets
the maximum number of cnid_dbd processes of which one is necessary per
volume.

What probably does affect the maximum number of possible afpd
connections is the very low default value of fd_table_size (see man
cnid_dbd) which is 16. fd_table_size is the maximum number of
concurrent open connections possible between the cnid_dbd process for
a volume and afpd client processes. Once this table is full, cnid_dbd
will drop the oldest connection. The afpd of the dropped connection
then will reconnect once it needs to query the cnid_dbd. This
connecting/disconnecting concurreny possibly by itself or by further
exposing bugs might result in a limit you experienced in the first
place.

What you should do instead is raise fd_table_size in
/path/to/volume/.AppleDB/db_param to some reasonable high value. I'd
be very interested if you can test this and provide feedback, because
I'm currently reviewing the cnid dbd backend. F'up to netatalk-devel
or PM.

Regards
-Frank

2009-04-03 Thread Alex Dănilă

Package: network-manager
Version: 0.7.0.99-1
Severity: important

After some update this week networkmanager no longer survives a
suspend/hibernate.
Before doing a suspend the process NetworkManager is running, but after
resume it is
no longer running. Doing /etc/init.d/network-manager restarts the
networking fine.

I tryed to look for logs of crash but I didn't know where to find them,
please ask for more information if needed.

Side mention, I don't know if it is of any use:
The device usually named eth1 is called eth2, probably since the same
update.
Trying ifup doesn't work, I presume because the netowrking is under some
special
