Bug#578017: Rewrite local addresses (support /etc/aliases).

I want a one-stop way to rewrite the recipient of system mail,
i.e. To: root becomes RCPT TO:f...@example.net. I suggest:

   - add an msmtprc command local-to f...@example.net, rewrites ALL
 local recipients to f...@example.net; or
   - add support for /etc/aliases.

Support for /etc/aliases is beyond the scope of msmtp, just like support
for local deliveries. If this is required, it is best to use a real MTA.

The catch-all local-to command you suggested might be simple enough to
add, but I'm not sure this would be the right solution for your use
case:

As my new netbook is powerful enough to run cron, I'm interested in
delivering system mail to the smarthost (instead of throwing it away).

What happens when the cron job runs while you are offline? System
services rely on an MTA that queues the mail in case of problems so that
it is not lost. AFAIK, all cron can do is log an error message; it
cannot save the mail.

 Hi,

please consider removing support for gnome-pilot(-conduits) from
evolution or at least demoting the recommends to suggests.
Palm PDAs are not that widespread anymore to justify that those packages
are installed by default. One of the downsides of gnome-pilot is, that
it pulls hal(libhal1) as dependency which we want to get rid of
 eventually [1].

gnome-pilot version in debian is too old anyway (and I'm not willing to
take over maintainership or so) so I've dropped the build-dep. The
recommends is not really useful anymore then. I'll drop it for the next
release.

That's great, thanks.

In return I would love if you could fix the bug I reported
 yesterday. ;-)

I will do my best.

Are you still interested in packaging the module yourself? If yes I
think you need at least an unstable chroot (pbuilder or cowbuilder helps
with this). All new Debian packages have to be developed for unstable
 and are uploaded there first.

Well, I do not yet have a complete picture of the package process so I
could sure use some help. For me it is irrelevant who does the actual
packaging as long as the jobs gets done. Please advise.

The xfce menu does not include any entry for the all-inclusive Debian

 entry.

This severely impacts the usability of xfce, since there are lots of
applications installed that don't show up in the xfce-specific menus.

If those applications really need a menu entry, file a bug asking
for .desktop file.

I saw the wishlist bug #489441, but this is not a complete change to
 the menu structure.

Too bad, because they really are the same thing. The menu library in
Xfce 4.6 doesn't support menu merging, so there's no way to display the
Debian menu along the freedesktop menu anymore. You might be able to do
some stuff (see http://wiki.xfce.org/howto/customize-menu) using the
xdg-compliant Debian menu generated in /etc/xdg/menus when you have menu
and menu-xdg installed. But that's definitely not something we'll do for
common installs.

Only an inclusion of what has made Debian one of
the best distributions of all: Desktop agnosticism.

Well, freedesktop.org is exactly made for that, and it's
distro-agnostic, too.

Bug#577217: [PATCH] speech-dispatcher locks main audio pcm preventing other apps to use sound

2010-05-05 Thread Andres Mejia
tags 577217 patch fixed-upstream
thanks

Attached is a patch that updates the packaging to make speech-dispatcher use
pulse by default instead of alsa. The idea was taken from upstream [1]. This
would prevent the locking of audio devices from speech-dispatcher.

What would probably be better is to package a new version of speech-dispatcher
from the 0.6.8~unofficial~rc2 release [2]. Ubuntu has already done so in lucid.

BTW, I am also using a proxy for accessing to Internet.

Can you try to check what happens at the HTTP level with extensions such

Bug#580312: multipath-tools: multipathd segfaults when restarted

2010-05-05 Thread Vincent McIntyre

Package: multipath-tools
Version: 0.4.8-14+lenny2
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

I have a simple setup with a Promise VTrak E610f direct-connected
to a Dell 2950 with LSI FC949SE card. There is only one FC connection.
Two LUNs are exposed by the Promise.

# multipath -l

When rebooting, or sometimes doing /etc/init.d/multipath-tools restart,
multipathd segfaults, e.g.

7fffe0a0 error 4 in libc-2.7.so[7f02664e3000+14a000]

It doesn't occur reliably.
I've tried with and without the /dev/mapper/mpathN-part1 partitions
mounted. I haven't tried restarting/rebooting when under load.

This may be the same bug as 519252. If so, it seems it isn't quite fixed.
I have a system available for testing but it needs to run lenny packages
or lenny-backports in a pinch.

Kind regards
Vince

Description: PAM module for local authenticaction with bluetooth devices
pam_blue is a dynamically loadable binary object for the PAM security
framework in Linux. It is presented as an extension for the common PAM
modules, gives the user the ability for authenticate via a
Bluetooth-compatible device like a cell phone or other bluetooth
dongles (e.g. epox-presenter). Due to the fact that a whole part of
the Bluetooth stack is implemented in hardware-side it is relatively
difficult to change the Bluetooth hardware MAC address which makes
 this module more secure.

Bug#573287: dash: read function does not work as specified in manpage towards backslashes

2010-05-05 Thread -=}\*/{=-
hi gerrit,

mmm... isn't the echo command an external command?...

whereis echo
echo: /bin/echo /usr/share/man/man1/echo.1.gz
/usr/share/man/man3/echo.3ncurses.gz

.. should behave the same on different shells, right?

i still went and tested your sugestion on my lenny, which gave me also
diferent results for bash and dash...

#bash:
read line printf %s\n $line
\\ \\ \\ \\
\ \ \ \

read -r line printf %s\n $line
\\ \\ \\ \\
\\ \\ \\ \\

#dash:
read line printf %s\n $line
\\ \\ \\ \\

read -r line printf %s\n $line
\\ \\ \\ \\
\\ \\ \\ \\

if the debian default shell is now dash (afaik)
this makes existing scripts unreliable and prone to error... right?

best wishes

 Hi Rui,

it's the 'echo $line' that recognizes the backslash, not 'read -r',

Am I right in doing so ? If yes, then this should be mentioned in the

Description: Nested Build System of Debian Source Package
Debnest provides a build system to create debian binary packages
such that original upstream sources include debian source packages,
i.e. .dsc and other files such as .orig.tar.gz and diff.gz, or .tar.gz.
In build-time, this system unpacks debian source packages by
 'dpkg-source -x' and propagates policy-defined targets of debian/rules
 into the unpacked sources.
 .
 This allows you to:
  * Manage your own files under debian/ such as debian/rules
debian/control, debian/changelog and so on separately away from
their original packages.
  * Create your own tuned packages with your own pre-defined
DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS, CC in your debian/rules from their
original packages without specifying any environment
variables in each build-time.
  * Create your own tuned packages with patches to their
original sources as well as to debian/* files, separating
them completely away from their original source packages.
  * Make it possible to redistribute your modified debian package
based on another debian source package which restricts
source-code from being distributed in modified form _only_ by
the distribution of patch files with the source code for the
purpose of modifying the program at build time.

Am I right in doing so ? If yes, then this should be mentioned in the
 README.Debian for desktopcouch IMHO.

Let me check. This is good idea.

Thanks a lot!

Exactly, libmozjs3d upgrade solves this. Thanks.

Bug#579782: ReleaseNotes.txt and updates

2010-05-05 Thread Ludovico Cavedon
Hi,
a Debian user reported [1] that the ReleaseNotes.txt file in the source
tarball mentions 1.0 as the latest release.

It actually looks like the file is intentionally updated only for major
releases. However I have to agree with Nicolás that mentioning 1.0 as
the latest release in the last minute notes is misleading and provide
the feeling of an outdated file.

What about keeping the file updated with the info from the wiki [2]?

Thanks,
Ludovico

Bug#580323: ssh tunnel feature sort-of useless

2010-05-05 Thread Evgeni Golov
Package: vinagre
Version: 2.30.1-1
Severity: important

[ important as I think ssh-tunneling of vnc is an important feature,
feel free to degrade if you think different ]

Hi,

after #579693 being solved, I wanted to try ssh-tunneling with vinagre to one of
my vnc hosts.

The first try hung for a while, before spitting out an authentication timeout.
Retrying the connection, I noticed vinagre asks for a ssh password, but my host
prefers pubkey authentication. After disabling the pubkey, the hang disappeared,
but vinagre still failed to authenticate. Looking even stronger on the password
window, I noticed that it does not accept the last char of my password (which
is 9 chars long). So I changed the password to something shorter and voila,
vinagre could authenticate and I saw my vnc screen.

Thus we have two authentication bugs here:
1. vinagre fails to detect (and use) pubkey auth
2. vinagre only accepts passwords up to 8 chars

Both make the ssh tunneling feature quite useless, at least for me, as I neither
want to miss pubkeys (some of my hosts even do not allow anything else) nor
change the passwords to weak/short ones.

Regards
Evgeni Golov

Bug#457075: Salomé packaging

2010-05-05 Thread Andre Espaze
Hi Adam,

Sorry for the delay, I have missed the -6 release but I have
just built the -7 one which works fine. I have updated the
documentation on:
http://wiki.debian.org/BuildingSalome
It seems that building Med dependencies by hand is no longer needed
because libmed-2.3.6-2 is now available in Debian sid. I only had one
problem during the installation step with the 'salome.desktop' file
which did not exist but it may be an error on my side. I will see
if I can reproduce it in the next build.

First, the -dev dependency extends beyond libsalome-dev. For example,
the GEOM module requires libTKOpenGl.so which is in
libopencascade-visualization-dev so salome must depend on at least that
package as well. There are likely others. Can some of you help me to
figure out what is required? If we miss a couple before upload, that's
probably okay, we'll just get even more bug reports for these than we
 otherwise would. :-)
I can help on that part once the VISU module is working, I have just
added a ticket on the Logilab's project:
http://www.python-science.org/ticket/1841

Later we can hopefully modify Salomé's shared lib loading code so it
detects the soname at build time and loads that file at runtime, as this
 is a bug.  If anyone can figure out an easy way to do that now, great;
otherwise we need to add a few -dev packages to the dependencies.
I have added a ticket too:
http://www.python-science.org/ticket/1822
but to my point of view such change should be difficult.

Second, I've cut the number of lintian warnings by dozens by making
the .py files non-executable. The one problem that results is during
startup, which can be solved by the following patch:

 diff --git a/KERNEL_SRC_5.1.3/bin/runSalome.py
 b/KERNEL_SRC_5.1.3/bin/runSalome.py

My python is even worse than my French, so that's the best I can do, but
I'm certain there's a better way. Can someone help my pathetic python,
hopefully in a way that will be acceptable to upstream?
I think that SALOME_ContainerPy.py should be considered as an executable
script because its first line starts with:

#! /usr/bin/env python

As a consequence, it should live inside /usr/bin like others commands
so no patch is required. The only reproach to upstream may be to keep
the '.py' extension which is confusing because SALOME_ContainerPy is
supposed to be a command. I have moved SALOME_ContainerPy.py to /usr/bin
and made it executable and Salome was still working. I think that it
should be possible to add this behavior to the Debian package during
the installation step. What is your opinion on this point? Would you
like me to work on a patch?

All the best,

André

Bug#580325: improve libssh2 package description

2010-05-05 Thread Simon Josefsson
Package: libssh2
Severity: wishlist

The current libssh2 package description reads:

libssh2 is the thin library implementing client side of SSH2 protocol
as defined by Internet Drafts SECSH-TRANS, SECSH-USERAUTH,
   SECSH-CONNECTION, SECSH-ARCH, SECSH-FILEXFER, SECSH-DHGEX,
   SECSH-NUMBERS, and SECSH-PUBLICKEY

This boils down to the regular terminal, scp and SFTP sessions; port
   forwarding; password, key-based and keyboard-interactive
   authentication.

I don't think this is user friendly, and suggest this rewrite:

   libssh2 is a client-side C library implementing the SSH2 protocol.
   It supports regular terminal, SCP and SFTP sessions; port forwarding;
   password, key-based and keyboard-interactive authentication.

Thanks,

I suppose I should be grateful that the bug no longer causes invalid code to
be generated. Can someone please look into this problem? From reports I've
found with google, mips has had this problem on and off for over five years.
Wouldn't it be sensible to just add a bit of wiggle room to the test which
determines whether a near or far branch instruction is appropriate? Maybe a
simple heuristic like 'within 10 instructions of being outside of short
reach means use a far instruction'?

This package fails to build on amd64 with perl 5.12.0-1 from experimental:

It looks unlikely that Regexp::Copy is going to get fixed upstream.
The only reverse dependency in Debian is libhtml-formfu-perl, so it
would be good if we could get it to use something else.

I looked briefly at the HTML::FormFu code, and although it doesn't
import anything from Regexp::Copy, it seems to be using Regexp::Storable
(included in libregexp-copy-perl) behind the curtains.

Removing 'use Regexp::Copy' from FormFu.pm makes t/filters/regex.t break.

Cloning a separate bug; this should be discussed upstream.

At least the warning should be fixed. Is the error that it exists and
since when is a directory a file? Or that it doesn't? The two errors
contradict each other.

Could this be caused by the fact that here the /etc/apt is a symlink and
  points to another location?

To my untrained eye, this looks like a message from APT.  Any insights?

But it might an apt tool called from the menu trigger processing code.

While this would be possible it is apt's normal behavior to print errors
and/or warnings at the end so this is to 99% an error of the main apt.

Still, i don't know what this bugreport actually asks for:
The directory is included in the apt package so in a normal environment
it should be available after the correct installation of 0.7.22 and above.
And in an unnormal environment (in which directories magically disappear)
the warning is important… (user configuration could be disappeared too)

A linked /etc/apt isn't a problem (at least not for me).
The dir is btw by default empty - as is sources.list.d and trusted.gpg.d …

 David Kalnischkies

Bug#577217: [PATCH] speech-dispatcher locks main audio pcm preventing other apps to use sound

AM Attached is a patch that updates the packaging to make
AM speech-dispatcher use pulse by default instead of alsa. The idea
AM was taken from upstream [1]. This would prevent the locking of
AM audio devices from speech-dispatcher.

I'm not sure this is a good idea, PulseAudio used to have its own
problems. A better idea might be not to start system wide Speech
Dispatcher by default or to add a debconf option to specify how to start
Speech Dispatcher.

AM What would probably be better is to package a new version of
AM speech-dispatcher from the 0.6.8~unofficial~rc2 release
AM [2].

No. According to the official Speech Dispatcher maintainer the patches
included in this release require significant cleanup work. He now works
on it and prepares official 0.7 release which is expected to be ready
this month. When it is released I'll package it and will fix the Debian
packaging bugs.

Bug#579457: debian-policy: finer granularity for perlapi-*

2010-05-05 Thread Brendan O'Dea
I would like to include these settings in the virtual package name so
that it would be possible to make incompatible ABI changes during the
life time of a single Perl upstream version and have a clean transition
path.

As for the implementation, the name of the virtual package could be
derived from $Config{archname}, for example x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi.
The system type prefix seems unnecessary; stripping it out and adding
the version number would give something like
 Provides: perlabi-5.10.1-thread-multi, perlabi-5.10.0-thread-multi
or
 Provides: perlabi-5.12.0-thread-multi-64int-ld

My inclination would be not to use something this verbose. It implies
that there could be multiple concurrent builds, which was something I
spent some time and effort removing.

It seems to me that you could leave it as-is, for this release but
additionally make this policy change:

For convenience, the perl package could include the suffix and/or the
whole string in something like $Config{debian_abi}. In that case we
should probably mandate that packages need to use it rather than derive
the string themselves.

...which I think is rather a sound idea, which allows you in the ideal
case to retain a concise dependency, but does not preclude you changing it
arbitrarily should it turn out that there are issues with 64int+ld moving
forward. In which case anything would suffice: perlapi-5.12.0-32int for
example if you were backing out the change. This of course need not be
permanent, the next version could be just perlapi-5.12.1 again.

The perl-base package could provide both the old perlapi-version
and the new perlabi-version-suffix during the transition period and
remove the perlapi-* one when all the packages have been changed.

This should not even be required for this transition: no prior package
will meet the 64int+lb ABI.

[1] Given that this is all about binary compatibility, I don't understand
why the virtual package is called perlapi-* and not perlabi-*.
Maybe somebody could enlighten me?

The name came from the variables in perl used to denote the oldest
compatible binary version: api_{revision,version,subversion}.

http://perl5.git.perl.org/metaconfig.git/blob/master:/U/perl/patchlevel.U#l74

Feel free to s/abi/api/ if it truely bothers you.

Okay, I see what is going on. Here I have a /usr/doc symlink to
/usr/share/doc. On more recently installed systems there should not be
/usr/doc at all, therefore the configure will succeed. But I still
think rm -f was wrong, was not it supposed to remove a directory?

Did not find my e1000e network interface, even after selecting it
explicitly from the list. After installing without using a net
connection, a simple modprobe e1000e and dhclient made the net
connection work. The following were added automaticly to /etc/modules
 by the installation:

 e100
 e1000
 e1000e

But booting with these in /etc/modules did not make the network
interface work. Had to do modprobe e1000e manually after each boot.

This sounds like a kernel issue. Reassigning to the kernel team.

change, see kern.log from line 1553. I did not try 2.6.32-4-amd64
together with firmware-linux-free 2.6.32-12, just with the previous
  2.6.32-11. To sum it up:

  2.6.32-4-amd64 with udev 153-1 and firmware-linux-free 2.6.32-11: Failure
  2.6.32-4-amd64 with udev 153-1 and firmware-linux-free 2.6.32-12: Not
  tested
  2.6.32-5-amd64 with udev 153-1 and firmware-linux-free 2.6.32-12: Failure

In fact I do not know whether:

  2.6.32-4-amd64 with udev 151-3 and firmware-linux-free 2.6.32-11: Success

is true any more, it definitely was on Monday :-/ see attached excerpt
  from kern.log.1.

A short interim report: KMS works fine with 2.6.32-4-amd64 after I
downgraded the following packages, see attached dmesg output:

[...]

 [DEAKTUALISIERUNG] xserver-xorg-video-radeon 1:6.13.0-1 - 1:6.12.6-1

The 6.12 driver doesn't support KMS, so you didn't in fact test KMS but
a completely unsupported configuration where the kernel and X drivers
are fighting for hardware access.

Bug#534346: Upgrading from 3.8.2 to 3.8.3 with rt-setup-database

2010-05-05 Thread Knut Arne Bjørndal
Hi

I also experienced this error, and tracked it down. For some reason if
there's a Schema.Pg in /etc/request-tracker3.8 the upgrade script will
try to apply it.

I'm not sure at what point the package was updated to move things like
schema.Pg from /etc to /usr, but my install has been upgraded a few
times and had a schema.Pg there.

Moving acl.*, initialdata, schema.*, upgrade and RT_Config.pm away from
/etc solved the problem for me.

Would it make sense to have a package upgrade script either
automatically clean out those files (if it detected they were
unchanged), or at least warn the user?

Bug#575439: I'm hit by this bug too

2010-05-05 Thread Michael Tokarev

01.05.2010 10:05, Martin Stut wrote:

Interesting. Here, kvm nevers stops. But this is,
perhaps, due to a more recent host kernel: mine is

I'm using kernel 2.6.32-3-bigmem #1 SMP, the one that is currently
shipped with Debian testing (squeeze).

Ok, excellent.

But I were able to install a winNT 4.0 system using,
surprizingly, -cpu host. My CPU is AMD Athlon x2-64,
definitely something which winNT didn't know in 1996,
but it installs and works nicely. I didn't use any
other options, just 4:

 kvm -hda winNT.raw -cdrom winNT4.iso -m 512 -cpu host

Care to try it out?

Thank you for the hint. I tried, together with the other options I need,
but it didn't help:

The system run attempt
kvm -m 1024 -hda /backup/qemu/francke4/francke4.img -cdrom
/backup/qemu/francke4/winnt4.iso -cpu host -boot order=cd -net
nic,model=rtl8139,vlan=0,macaddr=00:11:22:33:44:66 -net user,vlan=0
-localtime -name francke4 -monitor stdio
results in = BSOD stop 0x001e in ntoskrnl.exe

Ok, it appears we've 2 problems here (but I think I mentioned this
already) -- one is 0x1E and other is 0x3E. Let's deal with the
latter first.

And with reversed boot order, so an installation attempt the result is
= BSOD stop 0x003e

Adding the option -smp 1 didn't help either.

Removing most of the other options doesn't help either.

Ok.

Now one more try please:

 kvm ... -cpu qemu64,level=1

this should cure the 0x3E issue during install time.

See http://marc.info/?t=12726612745 for the actual
discussion on k...@vger about this one.

If this works, the next step is to look at the 0x1E stop
(inaccessible boot device). I'll try to reproduce it here
now.

Thanks!

Bug#580334: perl (armel/experimental): FTBFS: op/range.t failure

Package: perl
Version: 5.12.0-1
Severity: important
User: debian-p...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: perl-5.12-transition

We don't seem to have an armel experimental buildd running, but a manual
build on agricola.d.o shows a reproducible failure in t/op/range.t test 41.

A standalone test is

 perl -e '-2 =~ /(.+)/; @foo=(); push @foo, $_ for $1..undef; print @foo ?
ok\n : not ok\n'

Compiling sv.c with -O0 instead of -O2 fixes it, so it may well be a
compiler bug. Will investigate more.

For future reference, this is with gcc-4.4 4.4.4-1.

In the mean time, we have agreed that I will upload a package without

I am working on the upload now.

rdoc and irb packages have also been merged into the ruby (default)
packages. Because this is done by provides, on which versioned depends are
not possible, rails is no longer installable since it Depends: rdoc ( 1.8.2).
Hence rails conflicts with the new ruby package.
Please adjust the depends so that rails is installable again.

Bug#575236: reproducible url

2010-05-05 Thread chrysn
Package: epiphany-browser
Version: 2.30.2-1
Severity: normal

i just found a way to reproduce the crashes when going back problem on
my system:

* go to http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX/Packages/Listings
* scroll to the bottom by hitting the end key
* click the link to link A quick example can be found *here* to
  http://franz.kollmann.in/latex/latex.html#code
* wait for the page to load
* go back using the back hardware key
* epiphany segfaults

i tried the same thing on /usr/lib/webkit-1.0-2/libexec/GtkLauncher,
which didn't crash.

backtrace looks like this:

I tried installing winNT SP1 in kvm-72 and upgrading
kvm to 0.12 as available in bpo and testing. The guest
system boots and works just fine here. So I can only
conclude that the change in question was in earlier kvm,
i.e., when your guest were installed it saw different
hardware, which now does not work anymore.

If this is the case, there's very little reason to dig
into this further, I'm afraid.

Alternative possible cause is that you're using even
older NT, for which the problem will be reproduceable
when upgrading from kvm-72 to kvm-0.12 (note again
I'm using SP1 as base install). But after a bit of
thinking, it looks like fixing this isn't worth the
effort actually: it is how winNT reacts to changes in
the hardware it is running on, give or take bugs fixed
in later service packs. And by changing kvm you _are_
changing the virtual hardware.

I just looked at the winNT hardware configuration -
it is already using some sort of generic IDE driver
for the IDE controller for me (it is listed in the
SCSI controllers applet in the Control Panel). So
I don't know what else to try, actually. In order
to move win2000+ one usually switches ide to a
generic IDE driver, so it works on any IDE controller.
With winNT we've only one driver, which already is
generic. Oh well.

Hello.

Following patch fixes memory access after free():

Since ap points to the memory inside gl_pathv, it is not correct to
check ap value when gl is freed. sudo is a security sensitive
application, and there may be various effects of such access.

I've created this patch after exploring the problem similar to Debian
bugs 556562 578601. The patch fixes my problem.

Thank you for your work for Debian,
Alexandra.

Bug#580343: [kopete] OTR sends xhtml encoded xmpp messages without otr session

2010-05-05 Thread Peter Fritzsche
Package: kopete
Version: 4:4.4.3-1
Severity: normal

I use different clients which aren't otr or xhtml-im aware. This means that
kopete must not send xhtml encoded messages to these clients. This works
perfectly in case the otr plugin is _disabled_.

OTR now defines that all data send over it can be (x)html. The problem is that
after I enabled the otr plugin (without using otr at all - standard behaviour
is opotunistic) it just sends xhtml even when the capabilities of the other
clients doesn't support xhtml-im and doesn't supprt otr at all.

Message to google mail with otr plugin enabled in kopete:

This bug is not about problems with miranda's otr plugin because it has more
faults than features. It was tested using minimal client implementation and
actual user clients like the jabber integration in google mail. All output was
checked using xml console.

Bug#580344: liboauth-php: Please slightly adjust path in examples code

2010-05-05 Thread Olivier Berger
Package: liboauth-php
Version: 0~svn622-1
Severity: minor

For the examples provided to be useable, one has to adjust the patch to the
files loaded in common.inc.php.

Maybe this should be fixed to :
require_once(OAuth.php);
require_once(OAuth_TestServer.php);

Also, maybe a note in a README.Debian would help, by mentioning one has to
change the $base setting in common.inc.php to test the provided examples.

Hope this helps.

 Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:0037]
 Kernel driver in use: e1000e

 Comments/Problems:

Did not find my e1000e network interface, even after selecting it
explicitly from the list. After installing without using a net
connection, a simple modprobe e1000e and dhclient made the net
connection work. The following were added automaticly to /etc/modules
 by the installation:

 e100
 e1000
 e1000e

But booting with these in /etc/modules did not make the network
interface work. Had to do modprobe e1000e manually after each boot.

This sounds like a kernel issue. Reassigning to the kernel team.

 Cheers,
 FJP

I have a correction to make, it was only the DHCP part that didn't
work when booting into the installed kernel. The e1000e driver is
loaded correctly, and the other (incorrect) drivers can't be seen when
doing lsmod. The detection in the installation is still broken
though.

If it's any help, the installed kernel is 2.6.32-trunk-amd64, and the
one used on the USB key is 2.6.30-2-amd64. The network also worked
fine with the installed kernel being 2.6.32-3-amd64. I remember
reading that Linus and Molnar had problems with this driver in one of
the latest kernels, maybe updating the USB key kernel would fix it.

When making the USB key I used the boot.img.gz from
http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/installer-amd64/current/images/hd-media/
and the netinstall image

Could you look into it and propose a patch? That would help a lot in the
 current situation.

Err I've just looked into it and I was wrong. It doesn't use gtkhtml for the
about dialog (that would be quite weird) but for the Help documentation. There
are a couple of options to go from here: use WebKit/Gecko/maybe gtkhtml3, or
depend on a documentation viewer (such as yelp). I'll see if I can work
something out.

Actually, wkhtmltopdf needs a patched QT to work without X. This patch
is provided by the upstream developer but it is not suitable for
 Debian.

I see. I'm changing this to a wishlist bug to make wkhtmltopdf run
without an X server eventually. Even if it never happens, this bug

If you install the xvfb package, you can use the xvfb-run script like

Bug#580347: xserver-xorg-video-intel: [i945] screen becomes completely white

2010-05-05 Thread Paweł Pałucha

Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.11.0-1
Severity: important

Previous version of Intel drivers (from unstable, 2.9) was completely
unusable on my laptop (Thinkpad T60 with Intel 945GM/GMS). 2.11 works
ok for 2 or 3 days, with few succesfull suspend/resume cycles, then
screen becomes completely white.

It happend during workspace switching with Ctrl-F1 on KDE 4.3.
Besides white screen system seems to work fine - I can log in with ssh, I
can switch to text console (but screen stays white), I can even stop and
start X (kdm) again, but screen remains white. Nothing in the logs.

System works stable on vesa driver.

If I can provide more info, please let me know.
