Bug#502801: Apply the patch in 502801 to no longer import system users in passdb.tdb?

2010-05-09 Thread Christian PERRIER
Quoting Steve Langasek (vor...@debian.org):

See my earlier comments in 20080330015442.gb31...@dario.dodds.net:

I'm fairly indifferent to this patch. I can't see any reason why system
users should be excluded; adding them to the pdb doesn't give them passwords
or otherwise permit people to connect as these users, it just makes them
better visible to Samba - which means that if they do show up in any ACLs on
shared files, clients will get a more user-friendly display.

Hmmm, really? If system users aren't listed in the tdb, they're still
displayed to clients when clients list ACLs.

I just tried this on my own system by sharing a simple directory,
create a file owned by ftp there...and the file owner was properly
appearing in the Windows Security tab.

another reason not to use waf ;-)

Running waf with -j1 flag should stop all paralelism.

 e.g.

 ./waf configure build -j1

Is this not enough to make waf behave on hppa?

From what I could see from reading the code, the number of jobs should
automatically default to the number of available CPUs in any case, so
should automatically be 1 at least on the porter box.

However, assuming that adding the following to debian/rules would
implement your suggestion, then sadly no it does not appear to be enough:

waf-configure-options += $(if $(filter hppa,$(DEB_HOST_ARCH)),-j1)

Even with this change, the ./waf configure call hangs after outputting

Checking for dbus-1 = 1.0.0 : ok
Checking for dbus-1 flags: ok
Checking for header expat.h : ok

I killed it after 15 minutes of inactivity; the build output shows that
-j1 was passed to the configure call. If I add the Runner.py patch
instead, it gets past that point with ease (and later fails with the
second error I mentioned, which is trivially fixable by adding
!defined(__hppa__) to an existing patch).

Adam

Bug#136993: binfmt-support: package javawrapper somewhere

Almost. It's probably more use to most people than my javawrapper
implementation is, I agree.

When I wrote javawrapper, it was in the early days of Java and it was
still common enough to just build a pile of .class files rather than a
.jar file. I wrote javawrapper because I was fed up with concocting the
correct syntax to get the Java interpreter to start with a given .class
file. This still seems as though it could be useful in some situations.

CCing the javatools maintainers; would it be possible to merge some of
the functionality of
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~cjwatson/code/javawrapper/javawrapper-1.0.tar.gz
into jarwrapper?

Ok, another lead. Iirc the font settings (in Settings/Appearance) aren't
applied directly to xfdesktop fonts. So maybe xfdesktop only picks the
fonts from the system (Xsettings or xfconf, I'm not sure) when it
starts, and not after (unless you uncheck the *checked*
”use-custom-font” setting). In your case, maybe there's a race condition
or something, and when xfdesktop starts the font size is not yet defined
and it continue using its default font size instead of your configured
font size.

I'll try to dig that this afternoon.

Cheers,

Bug#580816:

2010-05-09 Thread Mathieu Malaterre
This is an interesting bug ! I am wondering if this should be part of
some sort of cmake-debian policy.
This issue can be found in all other cmake prepare package such as VTK:

$ cat /usr/lib/vtk-5.4/VTKBuildSettings.cmake
...
message(FATAL_ERROR
This VTK was built by CMake 2.8.0, but this is CMake
  ${CMAKE_MAJOR_VERSION}.${CMAKE_MINOR_VERSION}.${CMAKE_PATCH_VERSION}.
Please upgrade CMake to a more recent version.)

Should the vtk-dev or gdcm-dev package add a dependency including the
cmake version ?

Bug#580847: please package newer upstream version

2010-05-09 Thread David Paleino
Package: tilecache
Version: 2.03-1.3
Severity: wishlist

Hello Christopher,
I just saw on tilecache.org that 2.10 is available. We're lacking way behind
upstream :/

It would be nice if you could package this newer version. If you don't have
time, or not enough interest in the package anymore (I see it has had 3 NMUs
since your last upload), I'm available to adopt the package, and maybe put it
under the DebianGIS umbrella.

Thanks for your work,
David

Bug#578781: workaround

2010-05-09 Thread AlexanderSeinMail
Hello again,
I could work around by setting IPs manually in the client configuration:

3) Keyserver host name(s) == 204.152.189.144:2064;118.107.60.19:2064

So this clearly is some hostname resolving issue. There is some comments on
this in the client documentation (readme.uclib and readme.linux). And there is
some difference between the two version of the client I tried.

Regards,
   Alex

Bug#578126: fails to load kernel in memory due to /boot already being un-mounted

2010-05-09 Thread Arthur Marsh
I ran some more tests and found that ending a kde session was causing
/boot to be un-mounted. (running kdm 4:3.5.10.dfsg.1-2)

Attached is a quick hack workaround, as I could not figure out how to
determine where in the kde session logout /boot was being un-mounted.

In general, not all users will have a separate /boot partition and even
fewer will run into this problem, but perhaps a warning message could be
generated if /boot exists in /etc/fstab and /boot is not mounted when
kexec-load runs?

Bug#578739: Please, migrate sid version to testing.

2010-05-09 Thread Raúl Sánchez Siles
  Hello:

This bug is somewhat important and whereas it's indeed fixed, the fixed
version is in sid keeping testing version unusable for arm. I've been waiting
for the fix to arrive to testing, but unfortunately new sid uploads prevented
that.

I'd appreciate you wait till the current sid version arrives in testing or
alternatively you hint it in order to reach testing sooner.

  Thanks and regards,

Bug#580848: gdevilspie: generated .ds files are not working if more than one Matching statement is used

2010-05-09 Thread Joerg
Package: gdevilspie
Version: 0.31-2
Severity: important

Thanks for this nice gui. I found that the result doesn't work if more than one
statement in Matching is used.
This lines are the (not working) result of the selections in the gui:
; generated_rule nautilus
( if
( and
( is ( window_class ) Nautilus )
( is ( application_name ) nautilus )
)
( begin
( set_workspace 3 )
( maximize_horizontally )
( println match )
)
)

This is the modified rule file (without the and statement):
; generated_rule nautilus
( if
( is ( window_class ) Nautilus )
( begin
( is ( application_name ) nautilus )
( begin
( set_workspace 3 )
( maximize_horizontally )
( println match )
)
)
)

Please use nested begin statements instead of and.

best regards
  Joerg

Bug#580849: evolution looses adressbook.db in .evolution dir

2010-05-09 Thread Wolfgang Schnitker
Package: evolution
Version: 2.28.3-1+b1
Severity: normal
Tags: squeeze

It seems, that my evolution forgets to use older adressbook.db files.

in .evolution/adressbook/local are some more subfolders, which contains
adressbooks. Only the newest one is used.

If you go into the contacts view in evolution only 1 adressbook is visible.
But I had setup more than 1 adress-list, i.e personal, job, hobby list.

First it would be useful if we can get the old contacts back with an
importfilter.

Second I don't know why evolution stops working with this older adressbooks.
this should not happen.

output of ls in /local/dir is here:

Bug#441622: (no subject)

2010-05-09 Thread themusicgod1
It seems like part of the reason why this package hasn't been updated is
that the chosen upstream source (
http://flag.blackened.net/intanark/faq/mirror.html ) hasn't been updated
since the sid version.
http://anarchism.ws/faq/ contains an 'easy' to copy version that is more
recent, but even that is out of date, but it would be a nice first step

Should the vtk-dev or gdcm-dev package add a dependency including the

No, you only have to drop calls to CMAKE_EXPORT_BUILD_SETTINGS from
these projects (and may also drop CMAKE_IMPORT_BUILD_SETTINGS from
callers), see comments in
/usr/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/CMakeExportBuildSettings.cmake
IMO there is no need to add a versioned dependency against cmake.

Bug#580854: override: phonon-backend-xine:sound/optional

2010-05-09 Thread Modestas Vainius
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hello,

 phonon-backend-xine_4.6.0really4.4.1-2_amd64.deb: package says section is
 sound, override says video.

Actually, phonon-backend-xine can do both (sound video) but phonon-backend-
gstreamer is in the section sound as well as the whole phonon source package,
so I think it is better to place phonon-backend-xine in sound section too.

I suspect these are an embedded library.

I will try to see if I can find a solution or if it has to move to non-free.

Bug#574555: BUG: scheduling while atomic: irq/11-b43/2018/0x00000101

2010-05-09 Thread Arne Nordmark
I find a similar oops very reliably whenever there is moderate network
traffic, like updating squeeze. This happens on 2.6.32-3-686,
2.6.32-5-686, and 2.6.33-2-686 from experimental, but not at all on the
earlier squeeze kernel 2.6.30-2-686. Soon after this the system locks up
completely.

This makes the b43 driver in the current kernels more or less unusable
for me.

The following patch would turn this into a fatal error instead,

Bug#580706: akonadi-server: Crashes after start

2010-05-09 Thread Erik Schanze
Hi Michael,

I think, we had a bad start with our conversation.
I was a bit frustrated about this new bug (I had several bugs and
lost functions in the past since KDE moved from 3 to 4) and my
mails were not as polite as it should be.
I'm sorry.
Please let us restart on a constructive base.

What the hell is this? Why do you believe the bug is no reproducible?
 And where
is all the info we need to fix it?

I thougth I gave you all information you requested, so
I reset the flag. I understood it works like the flag on
a American letter box, but if you like to have it set,
untill you have all infos, I will let it set in future.

I tried it first, but without any change.
Akonadi crashes with a dump, perhaps we could find
  the error there?

Can you access your akonadi resources with akonadiconsole? What happens if
you completely remove your akonadi resources and add new ones?

If I call akonadiconsole in Terminal, I will get the same crash
as on Kmail start. I cannot do anything with akonadiconsole.
Please find attached log file.

Perhaps I broke something because I disabled akonadi and
nepumuk to save diskspace on my notebook?
I had the tip from this site:
http://www.strw.leidenuniv.nl/local/computers/it_local/fedora_tips.php
(chapter KDE 4.x - cutting down on overhead)

Unforunately I cannot reenable Akonadi, because there is no entry
in the settings menu anymore.

Would it help, if I compile a debug version of akonadi an drag
down the crash?

Right, and there is no problem in using SID. However, if you feel the
need to pressure us, because of a new bug in sid, something's going
 wrong.

You are right, it was not my intention to do any pressure on anybody.
Sorry again, if it seems like.

Thanks,

Erik

Bug#580860: toshset: C source files are gzipped

2010-05-09 Thread Nicolas Boulenguez
Package: toshset
Version: 1.75-2
Severity: minor

Hello.

This is cosmetic, but the README.Debian says to call sh install.sh
and it does not work out of the box.

Please add -X.c to the dh_compress invocation in debian/rules so
that the provided module C sources are not compressed.

Maybe it would be better to add a gunzip invocation in
/usr/share/doc/toshset/toshiba_acpi/*/install.sh so that only the
wanted source is uncompressed, if actually needed.

Thanks for maintaining this tool.

Bug#580529: Machine similar to ancina anyone? (was: DM needs helps with build failure (yorick on armel))

 Hardware: Marvell DB-78x00-BP Development Board

Does anyone has a similar box to try and pinpoint the problem?

To see whether you are affected, just install and run yorick. If
that doesn't trigger SIGILL, presumably you can't help me...

I just tried to start yorick on another DB-78x00-BP development board
and also get the SIGILL. However, I don't get the SIGILL on a Thecus
N2100 (which we also use for some buildds), so a workaround would be
to build yorick on another buildd.

Riku Voipio riku.voi...@iki.fi should be able to give you access to
the DB-78x00-BP development board.

Contrary to the changelog, which says:
   * debian/rules: honour CFLAGS, really set build arch/target

What arch?

Also, if you force-enable it (modify debian/rules), does it work?

Package: xmms2-client-nycli

The following patch from the XMMS tree extends the line length
for the nycli from it's 80 character limit to 2048 or longer.

http://git.xmms.se/?p=xmms2-devel.git;a=commitdiff;h=1684a99b911399fbf3c11ac7f8314bcbdd05c1ad

This is mostly an issue for people who pipe the output of nycli
into something else, although for those of us who do that it is
a right pain :-)

Thanks,
Andrew McMillan.

Support for the VIA PadLock entropy source driver has not been compiled in.

Contrary to the changelog, which says:
   * debian/rules: honour CFLAGS, really set build arch/target
and really enable viapadlock on i386

Ok, found it. We need to enable it for i486 as well.

Bug#580744: Bug#580745: tzdata: suggestions for renaming of timezones/locations

 point of Holger's original proposal).

Right, changing the name of the file on disk would be different.

I don't know exactly how tiezone names are handled upstream. Is there
any kind of standard that's followed or is this just upstream's inspiration?

There is no formal standard. As I recall, it took a bit of a fight for
Asia/Saigon to be renamed to Asia/Ho_Chi_Minh, and that change still
didn't satisfy everyone.

To the point at hand, I think it would be worthwhile to ask for Ponape to
be renamed to Pohnpei. Fernando de Noronha won't work, because it's too
long to fit into the field.

Bug#580865: full screen mode does not resize to full screen

2010-05-09 Thread Giuseppe Sacco
Package: evince
Version: 2.30.1-2

When selecting full screen mode pressing the F11 key, the PDF page is
not shown in full screen. I still see a small border on the left and top
sides, and a scroll bar on the right side. Moreover, the page is
rendered with a shadow on the right and bottom sides.

Moreover, when tool bar is visible, switching to full screen should hide
it. This was previous behaviour, if I remember correctly, and the new
behaviour is not better.

Bye,
Giuseppe

Processor : Feroceon 88FR131 rev 1 (v5l)
Hardware: Marvell OpenRD Base Board

Processor bug that was corrected in a later revision?

The OpenRD uses a Kirkwood SoC while the DB-78x00-BP Development Board
uses an MV78xx0 SoC. While they both use the Feroceon core, there are
notable differences. For example, the Kirkwood has no FPU while the
MV78xx0 has one IIRC.

In any case, we have pretty good contacts at Marvell so if anyone has
a testcase (ideally a smaller one than run yorick) we can forward it
to them.

Hi,

Porting issues with Yorick are often (always?) related to FPE
trapping. Since you mention that one of those has an FPU while the
other does not, the problem must lie there again, perhaps at
feenableexcept().

I attach a short test-case which I have used already to demonstrate
buggy SIGFPE handling on another arch. Usage is documented in the
file. Can you check whether this test case:

 - runs fine;
 - triggers SIGFPE;
 - triggers SIGILL?

Best regards, Thibaut.

The fix works well, but you patched the upstream .desktop file and

Prof John Fox at upstream is pretty responsive and will likely include
patches but I need more context here to 'sell' the patch to hom.

The only patch is the one that you already applied, just to the wrong
file. My personal preference would be to use source 3.0 (quilt), patch
the upstream .desktop file, install the upstream one, and delete the
.desktop file in debian/This reduces the chance of the same bug
propagating when they release a new upstream release. The way it is
set up now, you have to remember to fix the debian/ .desktop file to
reflect their changes when upstream releases the next version.

If memory serves I once received a patch, applied it and sent it upstream.

You did, but you did not install the .desktop file that you patched. You patched
/inst/etc/linux/Rcmdr.desktop
but you install
debian/r-cran-rcmdr.desktop

I have now done the former in my sources; the next upload will reflect it.
Thanks!

Bug#580868: mdadm: cron sends mail when checkarray is not run

2010-05-09 Thread Meik Hellmund
Package: mdadm
Version: 3.1.1-1
Severity: normal

I got this morning a mail message from the cron daemon of a ~10 days old
system:

Subject: Cron r...@misun50 [ -x /usr/share/mdadm/checkarray ] [ $(date
+%d) -le 7 ] /usr/share/mdadm/checkarray --cron --all --quiet (failed)
Date: Sun, 09 May 2010 00:57:01 +0200

command failed with exit status 1

It seems to me that the exit status 1 is only due to the date test.
Wouldn't it be nicer to put these tests into a shell script which
returns exit status 0 if its not the first week of the month?

Regards, Meik

This bug amount the fact that it is no longer possible to change the
pitch of the bell is tagged upstream but not marked as forwarded.
Does upstream know about this problem? Have the seen the patch? If so,
have they applied it? I'm trying to track progress on fixing this
problem, but I don't know where to look, and I want to make sure this
isn't falling through the cracks. Thanks.

Bug#580871: apt-utils: Large change to apt-ftparchive manual page, and small code changes.

2010-05-09 Thread Karl Goetz
Package: apt-utils
Version: 0.7.20.2+lenny1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,
I've just used the man page to help me set up an (almost) working
apt-ftparchive config file.

The manual was... outdated... in places, which I've tried to fix. I've done a
whitespace cleanup of the docbook and picked up a few typos on the way through.
I hope you'll be able to apply the patch(s) without problem, but I haven't
tested them.

The attached file is a complete replacement for doc/apt-ftparchive.1.xml . I'll
email the same file split into smaller, easier to review patches when I get a
bug number.

Thanks,
kk

I am using Debian Sid/unstable and can reproduce this problem with the

 If so, send a backtrace.

Well, I did not find any debug packages. Running `debcheckout

So I downloaded the archive from upstream and did `./configure

Hello Chris,

thanks for joining. It looks like your key is signing-only and cannot do
encryption. The standard checks that are done on keys do not like that,
because sometimes there is a need to send encrypted mails. One example
is encrypted mails with passwords.

Can you please also generate a subkey for encryption?

Does upstream know about this problem? Have the seen the patch? If so,

We might argue about moreinfo, but unreproducible it definitely is,

Would it help, if I compile a debug version of akonadi an drag
 down the crash?

Just install akonadi-dbg, that should do it.

And you get the same log after removing .local/share/akonadi? This is strange.
Are you sure you really compeletely stopped akonadi before restarting it after
removing that directory?

Bug#577503: Icon missing since gnome upgrade

2010-05-09 Thread Joachim Breitner
Hi,

Am Montag, den 12.04.2010, 11:05 +0200 schrieb Joachim Breitner:
after the recent update of gnome packages in sid to 2.30,
mail-notification does not show an icon any more in the panel. To be
precise: It shows an “image not found” placeholder.

Maybe some hard-coded icon path has changed?

I’m investigating this issue...

Comparing
http://packages.debian.org/search?suite=lennysection=allarch=anysearchon=contentskeywords=stock_mail.png
and
http://packages.debian.org/search?suite=sidsection=allarch=anysearchon=contentskeywords=stock_mail.png
I see that the file
/usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/stock/net/stock_mail.png
was removed from the package gnome-icon-theme.

The file src/mn-stock.c references that file via
gtk_icon_source_set_icon_name(icon_source, icons[i].icon_name);
where icons[i].icon_name is stock_mail.

It might help to just copy the missing files into the art/ directory...

The bug has been brought to upstream’s attention:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/mail-notification/+bug/557137
but no reaction yet.

Reading through the Gtk documentation at
http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/2.18/GtkIconTheme.html
it seems that the correct solution would be to install the missing items
somewhere under /usr/share/mail-notification and add that path via
gtk_icon_theme_append_search_path(). Qi, will you try to do so?

Greetings,
Joachim
