Bug#606395: [G-I][squeeze-d-i-beta2] wrong keyboard layout in console (correct in X)
On Thu, Dec 09, 2010 at 08:35:24AM +0800, Samuel Thibault wrote: That's actually expected: we didn't want to switch back to the text console just to setup the keyboard (setupcon would refuse to run from the X server). But we should keep that on the TODO list, yes. As far as I can remember on the virtual consoles there is a text saying something like Press ENTER to activate this console. I don't know what program is displaying this text but isn't it possible to change the same program to run setupcon just before the shell? If for some reason this is impossible, then one can create the following helper script: === #!/bin/sh setupcon exec /bin/ash === and run it instead of a shell. Or if even this is impossible, then the installation manual should mention that the users can use 'setupcon' to configure the keyboard on the text consoles. Now it does not. But process only appears in list of processes as sleeping. Major problem is, that i cant get to my old notes in knotes program. Old notes are access right end of upper panel. (this is reason, why i think that this bug is critical, i hope my older important notes are deleted due of this bug). Please right-click on the panel and add to the panel the notification area. This is where these icons would appear. It seems like you accidently removed it. Unless you can reproduce it to get missing repeatedly it rather seems to be a one-time hickup, and (re)adding the notification area should get you back on tracks again. Loading it with kernelverison 2.6.32-26~bpo50+1 works fine. Seems there were changes between 2.6.32-23 and 2.6.32-26 which should lead to a higher abi-version number (or i misunderstood http://kernel-handbook.alioth.debian.org/ch-packaging.html#s-arch-dep) ? Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal User: release.debian@packages.debian.org Usertags: freeze-exception Please unblock package yaboot I sponsored an uploaded of yaboot to testing-proposed-updates with the following changes to fix RC bugs: yaboot (1.3.13a-1squeeze1) testing-proposed-updates; urgency=low . * Team upload. * Get scsi, sata, and firewire drive info from sysfs as legacy /proc/scsi interface does not exist anymore. (Closes: #572869, #377097, #342833, #289201) * Use persistent device naming symlinks, UUID and LABEL tags instead of unix block device names. (Closes: #580455) * debian/copyright: Add copyright notice from ofpath. The package has to go thourgh t-p-u because there is a newer upstream version already uploaded to sid. As nowbody answered to my pre approval request to debian-release[1]. I guessed this is the right way to do it. A debdiff to the current version in squeeze is attached. Bug#605005: bug in netatalk
Hi Dennis, I am package maintainer of netatalk for Debian. Reading bug#605005 I find very little info about what actually occured at your system (to the extendt that I wonder how Julien figured out that it was related to hostname --short). Perhaps you and Julien had some conversation outside of the bugreport? Please post to 605...@bugs.debian.org a more elaborate description on what problem you experienced with netatalk related to your system upgrade. Hi! * Jan Wagner w...@cyconet.org [101121 12:58]: i was going through your hints and did modify the package to not introduce a new pre-depend and not using debconf to migrate the configuration and did some other improvements ... here comes the diff against the package in squeeze and a summarization: As jcristeau mentioned, you didn't had the time reviewing this patch, I gave it a shot yesterday evening and today morning and reviewed the proposed patch. While surely not being small, it addresses the core issue of the problem, and is as elegant as possible. I guess, if I would have needed to address this issue, I would have done it similar. I also tested various upgrad szenarios to verify, that the patch solves the issue. And didnt found any problems; all problems I could think of during upgrades seem to be addressed. Bug#606048: Perdition package upgrade removes and does not regenerate .db files
I just upgraded to the latest lenny perdition package. The upgrade resulted in the /etc/perdition/popmap.*.db files being removed and not regenerated. I confirm this too. Today i upgraded from 1.17.1-2 to 1.17.1-2+lenny2 and after a reboot for a kernel upgrade, some user started complaining about authentication errors. So i observed what Tim reported. A trivial fix seems to be changing the installation location from /usr/share/vim/vim72/doc/ to /usr/share/vim/vim73/doc/. Which will break with the vim packages in squeeze, since they are still at 7.2, as well as with future vim 7.4/8.0/whatever releases. Bug#605951: rxvt-unicode: colors are totally fucked up
Please note that this fuck up is in the debian version only, and rxvt-256color is rather buggy to start with, and definitely not the correct terminfo file for urxvt. The original urxvt uses rxvt-unicode and rxvt-unicode-256color TERM values, respectively, which are the correct values, and portable. If debian wouldn't deliberately break its copy of rxvt-unicode these problems wouldn't occur, and as added benefit debian wouldn't be needlessly incompatible to the rest of the world (which uses the correct terminfo files). I don't know what the goal of all this breakage(*) is supposed to be, but it would be preferable if debian clearly marked their version of rxvt-unicode as completely incompatible to upstream and other distributions (or alternatively maybe consider not continuously and deliberately breaking it...) If debian really insuist on doing their own incompatible patches, it would be far better to rename the package to something like debian-rxvt, and certainly set the TERM values to something like debianurxvt or so, as opposed to introducing more subtle bugs and giving users a chance to install the correct debian-specific terminfo on remote systems. (*) debian has a long tradition of non-communication with upstream and deliberate bug-introducing patches, even going as far as removing our request to report bugs in the debian version to debian only from the FAQ section, as we are not responsible for their bugs. -- The choice of a Deliantra, the free code+content MORPG -==- _GNU_ http://www.deliantra.net ==-- _ generation ---==---(_)__ __ __ Marc Lehmann --==---/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / schm...@schmorp.de -=/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Having same files in Emacs load-path may cause potential conflicts. Hi, Jari, Note that they are not the same as those shipped by Emacs. They follow those in FSF Emacs trunk, so they are usually way more recent than those shipped whith normal Emacs releases. They are also patched to work with XEmacs and to provide a common interface to *spell to all emacsen flavours in Debian, with integration of dictionsries system. Currently, they will even work with emacs21.3 and emacs22. There is a two way interaction between dictionaries-common and FSF Emacs repo, I sometimes test things first in Debian before committing to the upstream Emacs repo. I plan to remove support for emacs21 and emacs22 as soon as squeeze is released. I would like to commit all XEmacs compatibility stuff to FSF Emacs bzr repo, to decrease the number of Debian specific stuff, but need first to remove/adapt all the older emacsen stuff. A further target is to generalize the steps needed for Debian integration and see if they can also be put upstream in a reasonable way, so we can get rid of extra {i,fly}spell.el files in some flavours, but this would make disappear the benefits of using updated trunk code. It's lightning fast because it's written in C using the curses library. And it's super flexible because it uses the perl C library to shorten and alter host, service and plugin output and filter the displayed HOSTs or SERVICEs. Great to see cnagios packaged :). And please look for 'install pci:v*d*sv*sd*bc03sc*i* /bin/true' in a file in /etc/modprobe.d and report back. Sorry, I forgot to check that as you asked yesterday. As you said yesterday: $ grep display_class /var/lib/dpkg/info/udev.preinst rm_conffile /etc/modprobe.d/display_class Maybe the udev postinst script should also remove .conf version of the files? It is not impossible however that I manually renamed files to .conf, because udev was complaining at boot time that files without .conf suffix were deprecated. Bug#606110: installation-report: gtk installer fail to start with PXE boot of Dell Latitude D505
I discussed this issue with jcristau and wferi a few days ago. It is not easy to know how to debug this, but one idea is to modify the initrd.gz content load netconsole and use this to get kernel messages from the crash. When the system crash, the keyboard is dead (Alt-F4 or Alt-Ctrl-F4 do not work), and there seem to be no way to get information out at this point. To set up a netconsole, code like this would need to be added somewhere, for example in /lib/debian-installer-startup.d/ before starting X: modprobe netconsole netconsole=@/,@1.2.3.4/00:11:22:33:44:55 1.2.3.4 is the target ip, where an udp receiver need to be set up and 00:11:22:33:44:55 is the gateway mac, if needed. I hope to find time to set up such test, but do not expect it to happen any time soon. :( Christian Perrier mentioned on IRC that he is also using a D505 as a test laptop, and he do not have the same problem with g-i. He do not use PXE, but I do not belive that matter. I tried to boot a isohybrid ISO image from a USB stick, and it had the same problem with g-i. Hi, any news on YUI 3 packaging? Currently updating the loggerhead package in Debian would require YUI version 3 as it no longer works with YUI v2, so getting this packaged would be nice. I actually looked it a bit, and it seems pretty trivial to adapt things from the yui2 package and just change some paths so that both can be installed in parallel. Bug#606462: Acknowledgement (maint-guide: truncated text in code examples in PS and PDF files)
Sorry for the previous lack of description, I had a problem with the text editor. As said in bug title the problem is that code verbatims are truncated in some places. For example in the first page of chapter 3 (page 21 of the file, 15 of the document) or in chapter 4 (page 32 or 26 for internal numeration). This isn't a real problem even for copying and pasing configuration examples if files aren't printed because of the html or txt versions installed along the affected PS or PDF ones. I've noticed a very similar behaveviour in the italian package (main-guide-it), even if the quotes aren't strictly identical (there are white lines between code lines). And just wrapping the last part of the postinst into a block checking if the default-file exists should work. Attached is a draft for this change. Bug#606350: sasl2-bin: Too many open files error with PAM - recovery with saslauthd restart
On Wed, Dec 8, 2010 at 5:53 PM, Russ Allbery r...@debian.org wrote: Looks like a file descriptor leak in pam_winbind. I think saslauthd isn't at fault here. I did a test today... I noticed the number of fds had grown overnight by 20 to 40 per process. I did a restart of winbind and looked at the fds under the saslauthd processes. It didn't change. Both winbind and saslauthd must be restarted as the workaround. Restarting winbind closes only the streams reported as /var/run/samba/winbindd_privileged/pipe . Developers would likely expect this, but I mention it here in case it might help others caught by the issue.
Bug#606442: vimhelp-de: Doesn't work with vim 7.3

Which will break with the vim packages in squeeze, since they are still at 7.2, as well as with future vim 7.4/8.0/whatever releases. Some versioned dependency seems to be in order, but for squeeze the bug could probably be ignored (e.g. by adding a 'sid' tag). Oh, good catch. Hadn't noticed, that sid and squeeze have different vim versions. Regarding the versioned dependency / conflicts / whatever, we where discussing that that very minute on IRC. I actually looked it a bit, and it seems pretty trivial to adapt things from the yui2 package and just change some paths so that both can be installed in parallel. (My test packaging can be found from http://people.debian.org/~tvainika/ if it helps.) I'll take a look thanks. However one thing I was hoping to do with yui3 is breakout the -min and -debug versions of the javascript files into their own packages. think it should be pretty simple but I haven't tried it yet. -- Jaldhar H. Not sure about BSD, IIRC something more is necessary, but dealing with non-c++ symbol files is IMO quite impossible... cheers -- vbi -- The following expression sorts a word list stored in matrix X according to word length: X[⍋X+.≠' ';] -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APL_(programming_language) liblensfun.so.0 liblensfun0 #MINVER# (c++|regex)_lf_addobj\(void\*\*\*, void const\*, unsigned (long|int), bool \(\*\)\(void const\*, void const\*\)\)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_addstr(char***, char const*)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_delobj(void***, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_setstr(char**, char const*)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_strcmp(char const*, char const*)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_mlstrcmp(char const*, char*)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_list_free(void**)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_xml_printf(_GString*, char const*, ...)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_interpolate(float, float, float, float, float)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_lens_compare(void const*, void const*)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_mount_compare(void const*, void const*)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_camera_compare(void const*, void const*)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_xml_printf_mlstr(_GString*, char const*, char const*, char*)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_lens_compare_score(lfLens const*, lfLens const*, lfFuzzyStrCmp*, char const**)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_detect_cpu_features()@Base 0.2.5 (c++)_lf_ptr_array_find_sorted(_GPtrArray const*, void*, int (*)(void const*, void const*))@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_ptr_array_insert_sorted(_GPtrArray*, void*, int (*)(void const*, void const*))@Base 0.2.3 (c++)_lf_ptr_array_insert_unique(_GPtrArray*, void*, int (*)(void const*, void const*), void (*)(void*))@Base 0.2.3 #MISSING: 0.2.5# (c++)_lf_rt3(double)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfDatabase::Load(char const*)@Base 0.2.3 (c++|regex)lfDatabase::Load\(char const\*, char const\*, unsigned (int|long)\)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfDatabase::Load()@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfDatabase::Save(lfMount const* const*, lfCamera const* const*, lfLens const* const*)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfDatabase::Create()@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfDatabase::Destroy()@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfModifier::Initialize(lfLens const*, lfPixelFormat, float, float, float, float, lfLensType, int, bool)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfModifier::GetAutoScale(bool)@Base 0.2.3 (c++|regex)lfModifier::AddColorCallback\(void \(\*\)\(void\*, float, float, void\*, int, int\), int, void\*, unsigned (long|int)\)@Base 0.2.3 (c++|regex)lfModifier::AddCoordCallback\(void \(\*\)\(void\*, float\*, int\), int, void\*, unsigned (long|int)\)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfModifier::AddColorCallbackCCI(lfLens const*, lfPixelFormat, bool)@Base 0.2.3 (c++|regex)lfModifier::AddSubpixelCallback\(void \(\*\)\(void\*, float\*, int\), int, void\*, unsigned (long|int)\)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfModifier::AddCoordCallbackScale(float, bool)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfModifier::AddSubpixelCallbackTCA(lfLensCalibTCA, bool)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfModifier::AddCoordCallbackGeometry(lfLensType, lfLensType, float)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfModifier::AddColorCallbackVignetting(lfLensCalibVignetting, lfPixelFormat, bool)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfModifier::AddCoordCallbackDistortion(lfLensCalibDistortion, bool)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfModifier::Create(lfLens const*, float, int, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfModifier::Destroy()@Base 0.2.3 (c++|regex)lfExtModifier::AddCallback\(_GPtrArray\*, lfCallbackData\*, int, void\*, unsigned (long|int)\)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_Scale(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_Dist_FOV1(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_TCA_Poly3(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.5 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_Dist_Poly3(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_Dist_Poly5(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_TCA_Linear(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_Dist_PTLens(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_UnDist_FOV1(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_UnTCA_Poly3(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.5 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_UnDist_Poly3(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_UnDist_Poly5(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_UnTCA_Linear(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)void lfExtModifier::ModifyColor_Vignetting_PAdouble(void*, float, float, double*, int, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)void lfExtModifier::ModifyColor_Vignetting_PAfloat(void*, float, float, float*, int, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)void lfExtModifier::ModifyColor_Vignetting_PAunsigned char(void*, float, float, unsigned char*, int, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)void lfExtModifier::ModifyColor_Vignetting_PAunsigned int(void*, float, float, unsigned int*, int, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)void lfExtModifier::ModifyColor_Vignetting_PAunsigned short(void*, float, float, unsigned short*, int, int)@Base 0.2.3 (c++)lfExtModifier::ModifyCoord_UnDist_PTLens(void*, float*, int)@Base 0.2.3
Bug#606465: munin-node: Module sendmail_mailqueue: can't read /var/spoll/mqueue
Hi, Thanks for the bug report. I see that on my Squeeze system , /var/spool/mqueue-client is owned by: user: smmsp group: smmsp Can you try adding the following lines to /etc/munin/plugin-conf.d/munin-node: [sendmail_mailqueue] user smmsp Restart munin-node (invoke-rc.d munin-node restart) to apply the configuration. If this works as expected, I'll add it to the next build. Regards, Tom Feiner
Bug#578157: ITP: bitcoin -- peer-to-peer network based anonymous digital currency
I'm also interested in seeing bitcoin packaged for Debian, and hope you will get a package uploaded soon. What about uploading the current package into experimental, to increase the visibility and allow the Debian QA infrastructure to look at the package? I would be perfectly happy with the console version, and do not want to wait until a newer wxWidgeds package is in Debian. As JSON Spirit is missing in Debian, I suspect the embedded copy will not be seen as a reason to reject the package by the ftpmasters. Bug#606473: grub-pc: Please avoid double question in boolean template
Package: grub-pc Version: 1.98+20100804-10 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Hi, While working on the French translation update, Christian spotted a double question in boolean template. Bug#606369: bash: Put $HOME/bin to end of $PATH
Gerfried Fuchs wrote: Downloaded scripts don't get executable permission by default, so this reasoning is flawed. They would have to get their permission changed to executable intentionally. Or they'd have to have been downloaded in a zipfile/tarball, or have passed through a vfat/iso9660 filesystem, or... but I'll spare you the rest of this argument, because I doubt it's going to push the bug severity above wishlist. (By the way, any blackhat who expects me to type sl is out of luck; the executable packaged as sl sits forlornly unused in /usr/bin.) Long ago I wrote myself a Perlscript called ~/bin/deluser... so when a dist-upgrade introduced a system executable of the same name and postrms started calling the wrong one, I was thoroughly de-lusered. There is /usr/sbin/deluser indeed, but postrm scripts don't have your ~/bin in their PATH and never will. *That* would be a real security issue if they would. I'm not sure what the exact cause was in the days of my painful Potato→Woody upgrade, but maybe it was a side-effect of the way sudo used to preserve things like $HOME (and /root/.profile sources ~/.bashrc rather than /root/.bashrc). Fixed now, anyway. -- JBRFor trifling occasions it is better to accomplish things simply by yelling - _Hagakure_ (1716), Yamamoto Tsunetomo -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
