You need to kill this file.

 This is blacklist.conf

This might be the same as the samba bug reported upstream against Debian 5:
 https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7265%20https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7265

That is showing a bug against samba 3.4, however it is
status NEW, from March this year. A patch is mentioned.
I don't see why there would be a delay to release it.

Maybe lack of testing? :-)

Bug#606439: gforge-web-apache2: pluginman.php gives notice on Undefined variable: sys_etc_path

2010-12-09 Thread Olivier Berger
Package: gforge-web-apache2
Severity: normal

The plugin manager displays notice in apache logs :
PHP Notice: Undefined variable: sys_etc_path in
/usr/share/gforge/www/admin/pluginman.php on line 105

This is in symlink management, hence potentially problematic.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Bug#606395: [G-I][squeeze-d-i-beta2] wrong keyboard layout in console (correct in X)

That's actually expected: we didn't want to switch back to the text
console just to setup the keyboard (setupcon would refuse to run from
the X server). But we should keep that on the TODO list, yes.

As far as I can remember on the virtual consoles there is a text saying
something like Press ENTER to activate this console. I don't know
what program is displaying this text but isn't it possible to change the
same program to run setupcon just before the shell?

If for some reason this is impossible, then one can create the following
helper script:

===
#!/bin/sh

setupcon
exec /bin/ash
===

and run it instead of a shell.

Or if even this is impossible, then the installation manual should
mention that the users can use 'setupcon' to configure the keyboard on
the text consoles.

not. But process only appears in list of processes as sleeping.

Major problem is, that i cant get to my old notes in knotes
program. Old notes are access right end of upper panel. (this is
reason, why i think that this bug is critical, i hope my older
important notes are deleted due of this bug).

Please right-click on the panel and add to the panel the notification
area. This is where these icons would appear. It seems like you
accidently removed it.

Unless you can reproduce it to get missing repeatedly it rather seems
to be a one-time hickup, and (re)adding the notification area should get
you back on tracks again. So if you are not able to reproduce it again,
feel free to close this bugreport by sending a mail to

Bug#606440: linux-headers-2.6.32-bpo.5-openvz-amd64: Modules build with this headers could not be loaded on kernel (version 2.6.32-23~bpo50+1)

2010-12-09 Thread Ulrich Goettlich
Package: linux-headers-2.6.32-bpo.5-openvz-amd64
Version: 2.6.32-28~bpo50+1
Severity: normal

Hi,

i tryed to build and load a module running the kernel in version:
linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.5-openvz-amd64 2.6.32-23~bpo50+1
trying to load the module i get the following messages:

# modprobe drbd
FATAL: Error inserting drbd
(/lib/modules/2.6.32-bpo.5-openvz-amd64/kernel/extra/drbd.ko): Invalid module
format
# dmesg
[ 1480.020410] drbd: disagrees about version of symbol module_layout

The module is a drbd-Module made with a modified drbd8-source Pakage (using
divert). Loading it with kernelverison 2.6.32-26~bpo50+1 works fine.
Seems there were changes between 2.6.32-23 and 2.6.32-26 which should lead to a
higher abi-version number (or i misunderstood
http://kernel-handbook.alioth.debian.org/ch-packaging.html#s-arch-dep) ?

Can anybody confirm this on squeeze too?

Thx for your help!

Regards,

Ulrich Goettlich

Doxygen is producing that command, which apparently does not
work with the used LaTeX distribution. I reported this
problem on the Doxygen mailing list two weeks ago,
but I got no replies. If you also raise this issue
on that mailing list, perhaps it will help.

Bug#606441: unblock: yaboot/1.3.13a-1squeeze1

2010-12-09 Thread Gaudenz Steinlin
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: freeze-exception

Please unblock package yaboot

I sponsored an uploaded of yaboot to testing-proposed-updates with the
following changes to fix RC bugs:

 yaboot (1.3.13a-1squeeze1) testing-proposed-updates; urgency=low
 .
   * Team upload.
   * Get scsi, sata, and firewire drive info from sysfs as legacy /proc/scsi
 interface does not exist anymore.
 (Closes: #572869, #377097, #342833, #289201)
   * Use persistent device naming symlinks, UUID and LABEL tags instead of
unix block device names. (Closes: #580455)
   * debian/copyright: Add copyright notice from ofpath.

The package has to go thourgh t-p-u because there is a newer upstream version
already uploaded to sid.
As nowbody answered to my pre approval request to debian-release[1]. I guessed
this is the right way to do it.
A debdiff to the current version in squeeze is attached.

Bug#606442: vimhelp-de: Doesn't work with vim 7.3

2010-12-09 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
Package: vimhelp-de
Version: 7.2.090923-1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: Renders package unusable

Hi!

It seems this package doesn't work with vim 7.3, as vim 7.3 changed it's
searchpath for documentation.

A trivial fix seems to be changing the installation location from
/usr/share/vim/vim72/doc/ to /usr/share/vim/vim73/doc/.

Best regards,
  Alexander

Bug#606443: vimhelp-de: Ships emtpy, unneded directory /usr/share/vim/vim71/doc

2010-12-09 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
Package: vimhelp-de
Version: 7.2.090923-1

Hi!

This package ships an (emtpy) directory /usr/share/vim/vim71/doc, which
isn't used any more. It seems there's a leftover from previous versions of
the package.

Bug#605005: bug in netatalk

2010-12-09 Thread Jonas Smedegaard

Hi Dennis,

I am package maintainer of netatalk for Debian.

Reading bug#605005 I find very little info about what actually occured
at your system (to the extendt that I wonder how Julien figured out that
it was related to hostname --short). Perhaps you and Julien had some
conversation outside of the bugreport?

Please post to 605...@bugs.debian.org a more elaborate description on
what problem you experienced with netatalk related to your system
upgrade.

Kind regards,

 - Jonas

Bug#603427: probable fix for rc bug #603427

2010-12-09 Thread Alexander Reichle-Schmehl
Hi!

* Jan Wagner w...@cyconet.org [101121 12:58]:

i was going through your hints and did modify the package to not introduce a
new pre-depend and not using debconf to migrate the configuration and did
 some
other improvements ... here comes the diff against the package in squeeze and
 a summarization:

As jcristeau mentioned, you didn't had the time reviewing this patch, I
gave it a shot yesterday evening and today morning and reviewed the
proposed patch.

While surely not being small, it addresses the core issue of the
problem, and is as elegant as possible. I guess, if I would have needed
to address this issue, I would have done it similar.

I also tested various upgrad szenarios to verify, that the patch solves
the issue. And didnt found any problems; all problems I could think of
during upgrades seem to be addressed.

Hope that helps,
  Alexander

Bug#606048: Perdition package upgrade removes and does not regenerate .db files

2010-12-09 Thread Cesare Leonardi
I just upgraded to the latest lenny perdition package. The upgrade resulted in
the /etc/perdition/popmap.*.db files being removed and not regenerated.

I confirm this too.
Today i upgraded from 1.17.1-2 to 1.17.1-2+lenny2 and after a reboot for
a kernel upgrade, some user started complaining about authentication
errors. So i observed what Tim reported.

Bug#606446: ITP: tabix -- generic indexer for TAB-delimited genome position files

2010-12-09 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Charles Plessy ple...@debian.org

  Package name: tabix
  Version : 0.2.3
Upstream Author : Heng Li l...@live.co.uk
  URL : http://samtools.sourceforge.net/tabix.shtml
  License : MIT/X
Programming Lang: C, plus some Java, python and Perl bindings
Description : generic indexer for TAB-delimited genome position files

Tabix indexes files where some columns indicate sequence coordinates: name
(usually a chromosme), start and stop. The input data file must be position
sorted and compressed by bgzip (provided in this package), which has a gzip
like interface. After indexing, tabix is able to quickly retrieve data lines by
chromosomal coordinates. Fast data retrieval also works over network if an URI
is given as a file name.

A draft package is available here:

  Vcs-Git: git://git.debian.org/debian-med/tabix.git
  Vcs-Browser: http://git.debian.org/?p=debian-med/tabix.git;a=summary

I update the draft from time to time when I use it at work, and will
eventually upload it ‘when it is ready’.

Do not hesitate to express your interest in it, and I will fast-track it.

Have a nice day,

Hello and sorry for the 2 monts+ delay. I missed your message.

I just reactivated KMS and both problems are solved in current Sid version.
OpenGL apps run smoothly and no more problem with Aptitude when doing

 Justification: Renders package unusable

It seems this package doesn't work with vim 7.3, as vim 7.3 changed it's
 searchpath for documentation.

A trivial fix seems to be changing the installation location from
 /usr/share/vim/vim72/doc/ to /usr/share/vim/vim73/doc/.

Which will break with the vim packages in squeeze, since they are still
at 7.2, as well as with future vim 7.4/8.0/whatever releases. Some
versioned dependency seems to be in order, but for squeeze the bug could
probably be ignored (e.g. by adding a 'sid' tag).

Sven

Bug#605951: rxvt-unicode: colors are totally fucked up

2010-12-09 Thread Marc Lehmann
Please note that this fuck up is in the debian version only, and
rxvt-256color is rather buggy to start with, and definitely not the
correct terminfo file for urxvt. The original urxvt uses rxvt-unicode and
rxvt-unicode-256color TERM values, respectively, which are the correct
values, and portable.

If debian wouldn't deliberately break its copy of rxvt-unicode these
problems wouldn't occur, and as added benefit debian wouldn't be
needlessly incompatible to the rest of the world (which uses the correct
terminfo files).

I don't know what the goal of all this breakage(*) is supposed to be,
but it would be preferable if debian clearly marked their version
of rxvt-unicode as completely incompatible to upstream and other
distributions (or alternatively maybe consider not continuously and
deliberately breaking it...)

If debian really insuist on doing their own incompatible patches, it
would be far better to rename the package to something like debian-rxvt,
and certainly set the TERM values to something like debianurxvt or so,
as opposed to introducing more subtle bugs and giving users a chance to
install the correct debian-specific terminfo on remote systems.

(*) debian has a long tradition of non-communication with upstream and
deliberate bug-introducing patches, even going as far as removing our
request to report bugs in the debian version to debian only from the
FAQ section, as we are not responsible for their bugs.

Bug#606453: gnome-control-center: Alt+Print doesn't work and custom keybindings are reset every session.

2010-12-09 Thread Sérgio Cipolla
Package: gnome-control-center
Version: 1:2.30.1-2
Severity: important

Alt+Print combination doesn't work as it seems this is a reserved shortcut for
some fundamental operation. Ok, most probably this has been fixed in a later
version of GNOME.
But if one changes it, say to Mod4+Print, the shortcut only works during the
current session. In the next session the shortcut has reset itself to the
default Alt+Print.

Bug#605731: rsync client can no longer handle rsync:// targets

2010-12-09 Thread Hideki Yamane
Hi,

The problem resolved down to rsync 3.0.3-2 accepting the following:

 rsync rsync://server::module

 and 3.0.7-2 does not.

That 3.0.3-2 accepted that syntax was an undocumented feature.

How about adding it to NEWS.Debian? If someone has already installed
 apt-listchanges, it helps him/her.

the correct fix is to upload open-vm-tools 8.4.2-261024. will you
accept this new-old upstream release for squeeze?

Yes. Go ahead. If you want to apply some backported fixes, please let us know

Bug#606299: dictionaries-common: possible *.el file conflicts - Already included in Emacs

Please consider removing the *.el files or adjusting
debian/control::Depends as they are already included in latest Emacs
since 1999. Having same files in Emacs load-path may cause potential
 conflicts.

Hi, Jari,

Note that they are not the same as those shipped by Emacs.

They follow those in FSF Emacs trunk, so they are usually way more recent
than those shipped whith normal Emacs releases. They are also patched to
work with XEmacs and to provide a common interface to *spell to all emacsen
flavours in Debian, with integration of dictionsries system. Currently,
they will even work with emacs21.3 and emacs22. There is a two way
interaction between dictionaries-common and FSF Emacs repo, I sometimes
test things first in Debian before committing to the upstream Emacs repo.

I plan to remove support for emacs21 and emacs22 as soon as squeeze is
released. I would like to commit all XEmacs compatibility stuff to FSF Emacs
bzr repo, to decrease the number of Debian specific stuff, but need first to
remove/adapt all the older emacsen stuff. A further target is to generalize
the steps needed for Debian integration and see if they can also be put
upstream in a reasonable way, so we can get rid of extra {i,fly}spell.el
files in some flavours, but this would make disappear the benefits of using
updated trunk code.

Cheers,

unscd was made to resolve the problems seen in nscd where nscd is
near useless in a system with any amount of load (see #574990 et

So, I'd rather keep it in sid and not unblock it.

That's your decision, but considering the ease with which the package
can be removed if it holds up the release at all (and the real issues
with nscd that it resolves), I'd suggest revisiting this decision.

Ping.

Well, I'd prefer to discuss that with eglibc maintainers and find a
solution for it. But, I guess it's late now to make those changes. I hope
that it will be done for Wheezy.

Anyway… it's unblocked now and will migrate to Squeeze tonight. I'm also
squeeze-ignoring 574990 since I don't imagine it to be fixed in time, and
now that we have a replacement. I hope that we won't discover critical

2010-12-09 Thread Pedro Zorzenon Neto
Package: pcal
Version: 4.10.0-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I have a problem with pcal, to reproduce it, follow the steps:

mv ~/.calendar ~/.calendar-backup || true
echo nov 4* City Holiday ~/.calendar

pcal -P a4 -o /tmp/file1.ps -a pt -b all -B -O holiday 11 2010 1
pcal -P a4 -o /tmp/file2.ps -a pt -b all -B -O holiday 11 2010 14
pcal -P a4 -o /tmp/file3.ps -a pt -b all -B -O holiday 11 2011 1

today is 9/dec/2010

file1 - nov/4/2010 is holiday
file2 - nov/4/2010 is holiday, nov/4/2011 is NOT holiday
file3 - nov/4/2011 is NOT holiday

It seems pcal is not handling holidays for the next year.

  Thanks,

Bug#606460: aqualung: Does not work until restart on connection loss to jackd

2010-12-09 Thread Michael Gebetsroither
Package: aqualung
Version: 0.9~beta11-1+b1
Severity: normal

Hello,

Aqualung does not work without a restart of aqualung itself
if connection is lost to jackd.

If jackd is restarted aqualung reports errors but does not
reconnect to jackd and refuses to play anything, albeit good
jackd clients have no problems with this (e.g ardour).

   Programming Lang: C, Perl
Description : terminal interface for viewing nagios host and service
 objects

Cnagios is a full-screen terminal interface for viewing Nagios HOST
and SERVICE objects, and the durations of their current states. It's
lightning fast because it's written in C using the curses library.
And it's super flexible because it uses the perl C library to shorten
and alter host, service and plugin output and filter the displayed
 HOSTs or SERVICEs.
Great to see cnagios packaged :). As this package is Nagios/Icinga related I
invite you to join the pkg-nagios (on alioth) team. We always need fresh
blood :) and we can also help you in packaging and maintaining cnagios.

If you want to you join, just drop me a mail or join us at the alioth

Thanks for making Nagios in Debian better

Description: /dev/ and hotplug management daemon
udev is a daemon which dynamically creates and removes device nodes from
/dev/, handles hotplug events and loads drivers at boot time.

And please look for 'install pci:v*d*sv*sd*bc03sc*i* /bin/true' in a
file in /etc/modprobe.d and report back.

Sorry, I forgot to check that as you asked yesterday.
Here it is:

$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/display_class.conf
# This directive blacklists all devices which are members of the display
class.
# It has the main effect of preventing udev from autoloading the fb
drivers.

# vendor, device, subsystem_vendor, subsystem_device, class, class, class
install pci:v*d*sv*sd*bc03sc*i* /bin/true

Removing this file solves the problem for me.

As you said yesterday:
$ grep display_class /var/lib/dpkg/info/udev.preinst
  rm_conffile /etc/modprobe.d/display_class

Maybe the udev postinst script should also remove .conf version of the
files?
It is not impossible however that I manually renamed files to .conf,
because udev was complaining at boot time that files without .conf suffix
were deprecated.

Thanks,

  Matteo

Bug#606110: installation-report: gtk installer fail to start with PXE boot of Dell Latitude D505

2010-12-09 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
I discussed this issue with jcristau and wferi a few days ago. It is
not easy to know how to debug this, but one idea is to modify the
initrd.gz content load netconsole and use this to get kernel messages
from the crash. When the system crash, the keyboard is dead (Alt-F4
or Alt-Ctrl-F4 do not work), and there seem to be no way to get
information out at this point.

To set up a netconsole, code like this would need to be added
somewhere, for example in /lib/debian-installer-startup.d/ before
starting X:

  modprobe netconsole netconsole=@/,@1.2.3.4/00:11:22:33:44:55

1.2.3.4 is the target ip, where an udp receiver need to be set up and
00:11:22:33:44:55 is the gateway mac, if needed. I hope to find time
to set up such test, but do not expect it to happen any time soon. :(

Christian Perrier mentioned on IRC that he is also using a D505 as a
test laptop, and he do not have the same problem with g-i. He do not
use PXE, but I do not belive that matter. I tried to boot a isohybrid
ISO image from a USB stick, and it had the same problem with g-i.

Happy hacking,

Bug#554431: ITP: yui3 -- Yahoo! User Interface Library Version 3

2010-12-09 Thread Tommi Vainikainen
Hi,

any news on YUI 3 packaging?

Currently updating the loggerhead package in Debian would require YUI
version 3 as it no longer works with YUI v2, so getting this packaged
would be nice.

I actually looked it a bit, and it seems pretty trivial to adapt things
from the yui2 package and just change some paths so that both can be
installed in parallel. (My test packaging can be found from
http://people.debian.org/~tvainika/ if it helps.)

Bug#606462: Acknowledgement (maint-guide: truncated text in code examples in PS and PDF files)

2010-12-09 Thread Giuseppe Jacopo
Sorry for the previous lack of description, I had a problem with the text
editor.

As said in bug title the problem is that code verbatims are truncated in some
places.
For example in the first page of chapter 3 (page 21 of the file, 15 of the
document) or in chapter 4 (page 32 or 26 for internal numeration).

This isn't a real problem even for copying and pasing configuration examples if
files aren't printed because of the html or txt versions installed along the
affected PS or PDF ones.

I've noticed a very similar behaveviour in the italian package (main-guide-it),
even if the quotes aren't strictly identical (there are white lines between
code lines).

Thank you,
Giuseppe

Ok, might be less intrusive and simpler than the ucf option.
And just wrapping the last part of the postinst into a block checking
if the default-file exists should work.

Attached is a draft for this change.

The init.d script should be changed in order to warn the user when
action is start and the flag is at 0, the start action should return a
0 status in order to have upgrade script working correctly, isn't it?
 Right.

That's already in the init script, as far as I can see.

Both winbind and saslauthd must be restarted as the workaround.
Restarting winbind closes only the streams reported as

Developers would likely expect this, but I mention it here in case it might

Which will break with the vim packages in squeeze, since they are still

Oh, good catch. Hadn't noticed, that sid and squeeze have different vim

Bug#554431: ITP: yui3 -- Yahoo! User Interface Library Version 3

2010-12-09 Thread Jaldhar H. Vyas

On Thu, 9 Dec 2010, Tommi Vainikainen wrote:

Hi,

any news on YUI 3 packaging?

Currently updating the loggerhead package in Debian would require YUI
version 3 as it no longer works with YUI v2, so getting this packaged
would be nice.

Today I have to get finish getting yui2 fixed up. The good news is I have
time to to do this because my next assignment at work is to package yui3.

I actually looked it a bit, and it seems pretty trivial to adapt things
from the yui2 package and just change some paths so that both can be
installed in parallel. (My test packaging can be found from
http://people.debian.org/~tvainika/ if it helps.)

I'll take a look thanks. However one thing I was hoping to do with yui3
is breakout the -min and -debug versions of the javascript files into
their own packages. think it should be pretty simple but I haven't
tried it yet.

Bug#606470: Game: Tetris is not a sequence

2010-12-09 Thread Jason Woofenden
Package: gbrainy
Version: 1.52-1
Severity: normal

In Game: Tetris the question is:

What figure completes the sequence below? Answer A, B or C.

But, what follows is not a sequence, it is a set. In a sequence the
order is significant.

Please either change it to read:

What figure completes the set below? Answer A, B or C.

Or (if you want to be vague about whether the sequence is
significant) you could perhaps put a question mark in the set, and
ask which figure goes there.

Thanks, - Jason

To enable 'click to play', you have to go to 'about:flags' and enable
the feature, then restart the browser, then go to Preferences, Content
Settings, Plug-ins, Click to play.

Then browse to, e.g., http://n1.netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/analysis/ and
click the plugin to trigger the crash.

Bug#589048: Corrected symbols file for i386

2010-12-09 Thread Adrian von Bidder
Hi,

Attached is a symbols file that works on i386, and with some luck on the
other 32 bit architecture. Not sure about BSD, IIRC something more is
necessary, but dealing with non-c++ symbol files is IMO quite
impossible...

Bug#606465: munin-node: Module sendmail_mailqueue: can't read /var/spoll/mqueue

Hi,

Thanks for the bug report.

I see that on my Squeeze system , /var/spool/mqueue-client is owned by:
user: smmsp
group: smmsp

Can you try adding the following lines
to /etc/munin/plugin-conf.d/munin-node:
[sendmail_mailqueue]
user smmsp

Restart munin-node (invoke-rc.d munin-node restart) to apply the
configuration.

If this works as expected, I'll add it to the next build.

Tom Feiner

Bug#578157: ITP: bitcoin -- peer-to-peer network based anonymous digital currency

2010-12-09 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
I'm also interested in seeing bitcoin packaged for Debian, and hope
you will get a package uploaded soon.

What about uploading the current package into experimental, to
increase the visibility and allow the Debian QA infrastructure to look
at the package?

I would be perfectly happy with the console version, and do not want
to wait until a newer wxWidgeds package is in Debian.

As JSON Spirit is missing in Debian, I suspect the embedded copy will
not be seen as a reason to reject the package by the ftpmasters.

Happy hacking,

Hi,

While working on the French translation update, Christian spotted a
double question in boolean template.

Colin proposed the following wording in order to solve it (but prefers
to modify this after Squeeze).

Please, don't forget to run “podebconf-report-po --utf8 --call” after
modifying your templates in order to ask for translation updates.

2010-12-09 Thread Justin B Rye
Gerfried Fuchs wrote:
Downloaded scripts don't get executable permission by default, so this

Or they'd have to have been downloaded in a zipfile/tarball, or have

the rest of this argument, because I doubt it's going to push the
bug severity above wishlist.

(By the way, any blackhat who expects me to type sl is out of
luck; the executable packaged as sl sits forlornly unused in
/usr/bin.)

Long ago I wrote myself a Perlscript called
 ~/bin/deluser... so when a dist-upgrade introduced a system
executable of the same name and postrms started calling the wrong
 one, I was thoroughly de-lusered.

There is /usr/sbin/deluser indeed, but postrm scripts don't have your
~/bin in their PATH and never will. *That* would be a real security
 issue if they would.

I'm not sure what the exact cause was in the days of my painful
Potato→Woody upgrade, but maybe it was a side-effect of the way sudo
used to preserve things like $HOME (and /root/.profile sources
~/.bashrc rather than /root/.bashrc). Fixed now, anyway.

Basic document corrections and translation updates:

  debian-reference (2.45) unstable; urgency=low

* Fixed typo per Mathieu Parent. Closes: #597816
* Added clearsigned gpg mail example.
* xz/unxz command mentioned in Tutorial.
* Fixed bashism per by Dominique Brazziel. Closes: #600016
* Updated Wikipedia URL.
* Updated French translation.
* Added Portguese translation by Américo Monteiro.

This appears to be stuck in NEW currently. I'm guessing Added
Portuguese translation means added new binary package containing
 Portuguese translation?

Yes.
