Bug#629592: cyrus-common-2.2: confusing/contradictory information on lenny->squeeze upgrade

2011-06-07 Thread Ondřej Surý
Slight correction, better use always the latest version of the script:

http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-cyrus-imapd/cyrus-imapd-2.4.git;a=blob;f=debian/cyrus-upgrade-db

(i.e. without the hash)

Bug#629617: apt: provide a way to run pkgInitConfig() that doesn't parse the default configuration files

2011-06-07 Thread Raphaël Hertzog
Package: apt
Version: 0.8.14.1
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

I would like to use python-apt to manage several APT caches that are
completely unrelated to the system installation. This means I do not want
to parse the configuration files in /etc/apt unfortunately pkgInitConfig()
doesn't provide a way to skip those: "Dir::Etc" is always set to "etc/apt"
and the config files parsing is done in the same function.

I would like to just execute the part that sets sensible defaults to
the variables that are needed without parsing the user configuration
files.

One way to do it would be to not overwrite the various "Dir"
configuration items if they are pre-existing. That way I can point
them to directories without any configuration file.

Cheers,

Bug#629589: Causes sendmail to crash, too

2011-06-07 Thread Ondřej Surý
Hi Brian,

first let me thank you for reporting the bugs in GSSAPI and for
patience :). You've been most helpful.

I've just uploaded version with patch from upstream bugzilla applied.
Hope this is last serious bug which creeped in.

I'll walk through cyrusimap bugzilla and check for more patches, when
I have little bit more time.

And if the bug is still there, please reopen the bug and ping me, I'll
do what I can to iron out the cvs release to usable form.

Ondrej
P.S.: Robert, there's still the libdb transition bug filled against
sendmail, could you please take care of it?

Bug#629592: cyrus-common-2.2: confusing/contradictory information on lenny->squeeze upgrade

2011-06-07 Thread Ondřej Surý
Hi Ross,

unfortunately it won't be fixed in lenny/squeeze, but I already wrote
an upgrade script for squeeze->wheezy.

You can find it here:

http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-cyrus-imapd/cyrus-imapd-2.4.git;a=blob;f=debian/cyrus-upgrade-db;h=c7d8d55b99982b5df97e5a875d3809a9d593228c;hb=HEAD

I'll keep this bug open until wheezy is out, so everybody can find it.

We'll also welcome any patches to documentation for wheezy version,
since with the upgrade script some of the README.Debian might have
become obsolete.

Bug#629575: psql: FATAL: could not write init file on lenny->squeeze upgrade

2011-06-07 Thread Ross Boylan
It's possible that my problems stem from incomplete migration to the new
name on the VM. bacula's conf files still referred to the old
(vm-lenny00) name at the time of this error, and I have not touched
postgres's configuration since snapshotting it.

Partly offsetting this was the fact that the IP of vm-lenny00 actually
pointed to vm-migrate07, since I also failed to update the dhcp.conf
files (also subsequently fixed).

I am able to connect to the bacula database using psql on vm-migrate07,
the machine that had the reported problem.

Some PCMCIA hardware needs special resource configuration options in order to
work, and can cause the computer to freeze otherwise. For example, some Dell

will be added to /etc/pcmcia/config.opts. See the installation manual or the

 * Updating hash files (adding hash sums of files missing in the
hashfile).

 * Ability to process directories recursively.
 * Portability: the program works the same on Linux, *BSD or Windows.

The LibRHash library is lightweight, thread-safe and easy to learn.
It is used by several open source applications.

Bug#629613: ghc6: linking fails with undefined reference to symbol sem_post@GLIBC_2.4

2011-06-07 Thread Karel Gardas
Package: ghc6
Version: 6.12.1-13
Severity: important

Hello,

I'm trying to build new GHC on the debian testing on armel running
inside Qemu with installed provided ghc6. The problem is that linking of
any GHC application fails with:

Linking ...
/usr/bin/ld:
/usr/lib/ghc-6.12.1/unix-2.4.0.0./libHSunix-2.3.0.0.a(Semaphore.o): undefined
reference to symbol 'sem_post@@GLIBC_2.4'
/usr/bin/ld: note: 'sem_post@@GLIBC_2.4' s defined in DSO /lib/libpthread.so.0
so try adding it to the linker command line
/lib/libpthread.so.0: could not read symbols: Invalid operation
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

the workaround is to add -lpthread to the linking command-line, but this
is not possible to do to cabal generated commands which makes
compilation of own ghc impossible

Bug#629612: spamassassin: Drop (Build-)Depends on libdigest-sha1-perl

2011-06-07 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Source: spamassassin
Version: 3.3.1-2
Severity: normal
User: debian-p...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: digest-sha-perl-transition

Hi

We from the Debian Perl Group would like to drop libdigest-sha1-perl
at some point, see [1]. Most of the functionality (except
sha1_transform) of Digest::SHA1 is also provided by Digest::SHA.

 [1] http://deb.li/digestsha

Now, reason for spamassassin to (Build-)Depends on libdigest-sha1-perl
was that razor still used Digest::SHA1. Thus hovewer now is not
anymore the case for the package in Debian, see [2]. razor 1:2.85-4
now used Digest::SHA instead of Digest::SHA1.

 [2] http://bugs.debian.org/624579

Could you drop thus (Build-)Depends on libdigest-sha1-perl?

Bests,
Salvatore

I see. Thanks for the broad and educating explaination. For reference,

Bug#629611: xserver-xorg: reproducible X server segfault

2011-06-07 Thread Alan Curry
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.5+8
Severity: normal

I found an easy way to crash the X server: view a 1bpp image with xli, and
increase the size with the '>' key a few times.

After the first resize, there's a small area of junk on the screen, to the
left of the xli window. The junk area increases roughly in proportion with
the xli window. The crash coincides with the point where the xli window has
grown past the right edge of the screen.

It's possible that a bug in xli is causing it to draw in the wrong area, but
the server crash is a more serious problem regardless of xli's misbehavior.

Tested in isolation, with nothing but X server and xli, not even a window
manager. The resulting segfault and backtrace is in the stuff that reportbug
has included below.

Bug#629610: exim4: misleading (?) "failed" message after paniclog warning

2011-06-07 Thread Ross Boylan
Package: exim4

Stopping MTA for restart: exim4_listener.
Restarting MTA: exim4.
ALERT: exim paniclog /var/log/exim4/paniclog has non-zero size, mail system
possibly broken ... failed!

I read the "... failed!" as meaning that the non-zero paniclog has
caused the restart to fail. However, netstat -nlp indicates that exim
is running and listening on port 25, as expected.

The "failed" message seems inappropriate in this setting.

If it actually means something else is broken, it should indicate
what.

My paniclog does have stuff in it, and I have some mail that is
currently undeliverable because my local cyrus is not running.

This is on a virtual machine that had lenny installed and has been
dist-upgraded to squeeze. I have fiddled a bit with the config files
so I can get mail out of the box.

The driver should log a message of the form
'Yukon-2 chip revision ' at startup. I think we may need
to know the name and number.

This status value indicates a VLAN-tagged packet, so this is probably
related to changes in VLAN support.

Bug#629609: cyrus-imapd-2.4: proc and lock directories should be cleaned and put on tmpfs

2011-06-07 Thread Steven Kurylo
Package: cyrus-imapd-2.4
Version: 2.4.9~beta1-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Per the documentation for 2.4, the locks should be cleaned out. I think
cleaning out proc
at the same time would be a good idea, in case a file is left after a crash.

As well in the init script I:
 * Silenced try-restart
 * Improved SYNCSHUTDOWN check

They should both be on tmpfs for better performance too. So I've changed the
default config file to /run/cyrus/

Thank you for considering my patches.

Description: Interface to digital still cameras
This is a library and a command-line frontend to manipulate digital
still cameras based on Fujitsu chipset and Sierra Imaging firmware. The
program is known to work with Agfa, Epson and Olympus cameras. Should
also work with Sanyo, but this is untested.
 .
The cameras typically come with software for Windows and for Mac, and no
description of the protocol. With this tool, they are manageable from a
UNIX box. Bruce D. Lightner has added support
for Win32 and DOS platforms. Note that the program does not have any
GUI, it is plain command-line even on Windows. For a GUI, check out
 the phototk program.

I also had a successful build without -mlong-calls.

It may be that we need to increase the number of stub slots when doing
PIC code generation and/or shared library generation, but it is hard to
know if the problem still exists.

The linker creates stub groups (i.e., it bundles functions together).
This also increases the probility of a stub table overflow.

Bug#624203: verbose iproute makes vpnc fail connecting

2011-06-07 Thread Michael Shuler
Package: vpnc
Version: 0.5.3r449-2.1
Followup-For: Bug #624203

Since the previous report did not contain any details, I'll use this for the
connection issue I just encountered and found a fix for. I'm not really sure
if this is the identical problem Pedro found, but perhaps.. :-)

'ip route get ...' now adds a few more extra morsels of data that
vpnc-script does not take into account. The credit for the sed fix goes to
Alessandro Suardi and was found at: https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/3/24/645

The error when using vpnc-script (I'm actually using openconnect) was:

<...>
Got CONNECT response: HTTP/1.1 200 OK
CSTP connected. DPD 30, Keepalive 20
Error: either "to" is duplicate, or "ipid" is a garbage.
Connected cscotun0 as 192.168.101.178, using SSL
Continuing in background; pid 1328
Established DTLS connection

The routes pushed from the concentrator are set up fine, but the static route
for the concentrator IP address was not set, due to the extra data not being
correct for 'ip route add ...'

After the attached sed line fix, I get a static route for the concentrator
again.

Kind regards,
Michael Shuler

Bug#629603: cyrus-common-2.4: Fails to upgrade to 2.4.9~beta1-1

2011-06-07 Thread Steven Kurylo
Package: cyrus-common-2.4
Version: 2.4.9~beta1-1
Severity: important

I started with a clean install of 2.4.8.
cyrus-common-2.4 fails on upgrade with the error "unknown new backend"

Starting debugging the issue and /usr/lib/cyrus/bin/upgrade-db fails at:

It looks like cyrus-db-types.txt isn't being generated properly, so upgrade-db

Channel 0 is the one that I didn't try -- I only tried 1 and up. 0 does
work, even without restarting.

here it comes, i hope it helps

on second thought: there is one difference between the computers i
didn't mention: the notebook hast ipv6 connectivity, the workstation
doesn't, though that should not be relevant for all servers, as it seems
at least one of the servers doesn't have a record.

Yep, i'm aware of this. There are several build failures that the
debian buildd have picked up, not just this one. See current discussion
on xdotool-users for the ongoing saga. [0]

For this one (undefined reference to `clock_gettime' on kfreebsd
arches), it appears to be due to an overly-simplistic platform.sh script.

that script assumes we're using GNU libc (or a close variant) if uname
reports Linux, and BSD libc otherwise.

Obviously, for GNU/kFreeBSD arches, this isn't the case.

Upstream has indicated willingness to accept a patch for GNU/kFreeBSD,
but can't test it himself [1].

Can you propose a patch that seems reasonable?

Thanks for the triage,

Bug#629602: backuppc: direct restore of /home/daniel changed permissions and ownership on / to 700 daniel:daniel instead of 755 root:root

2011-06-07 Thread Daniel Dickinson
Package: backuppc
Version: 3.1.0-9
Severity: important

Doing a direct restore of the /home/daniel (well actually parts thereof, not
the whole dir) caused the root directory (/) (which is the 'share' being
restored, but restoring a subset of the share) to be changed to ownership
daniel:daniel and permissions 700 instead of 755 root:root. This changes breaks
a lot of daemons, initscripts and so on.

This is rather severe bug in imo.

Bug#629601: grub-pc: warns against partition install on lenny->sqeeze

2011-06-07 Thread Ross Boylan
Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.98+20100804-14
Severity: normal

I upgraded a system from lenny to squeeze, accepting the chain loading
option (Im pretty sure; also seems consistent with debconf setting
below). The disk filled during the upgrade, either after or during
the grub update (see transcript below). I cleared room and ran
dpkg --configure -a.
After this dealt with many other packages it said

The grub-pc package is being upgraded. This menu allows you to select
which devices you'd like grub-install to be automatically run for, if
any.

This had lots of warnings that installing onto a partition was a bad
idea; I selected it anyway and got more warnings.

I have not attempted to reboot. All operations were inside a VM.

I assumed that chain loading involved putting grub2 on a partition;
perhaps that assumption is wrong. At any rate, I was not sure what to
do when asked where to install grub2.

I am submitting this report for 3 reasons:
1) It may be an error for the "where to install" dialog to come up
after chain loading is selected.
If it is not...
2) The advice to chain load in the release notes and debconf queries
about chain loading seems at odds with the warnings that installing
onto a partition is not a good idea. The various messages and advice
may need to be rewritten to be consistent.
3) If chain loading does not involve installing onto a partition, that
might be worth explaining somewhere.

It is also possible some of the strangeness arose from the disk
filling up.

Here's the transcript of the first part of the install, when the disk
filled:

Bug#629600: update-notifier: installation suggests ubuntu-system-service

2011-06-07 Thread Diego Lopez Leon
Package: update-notifier
Version: 0.99.3debian9
Severity: minor

Package suggests ubuntu-system-service installation and this package does not
exist into Debian repositories. Beside, taking a look to the control file, it
refers in the Build-Depends section to ubuntu version numbers (i.e.
libnotify-dev (>= 0.3.2-0ubuntu2)) dunno if this last thing applies as a bug
or not so I let it just as a mark here.

Bug#629599: RFA: qpxtool

2011-06-07 Thread Alessio Treglia
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Due to the lack of time and interest in qpxtool, I request an adopter for it.
The package is in good shape.

The description follows:
QPxTool gives you access to all available Quality Checks (Q-Checks) on written
and blank media, that are available for your drive. This will help you to find
the right media and the optimized writing speed for your hardware, which will
increase the chance for a long data lifetime.
 .
QPxTool depends on the used drive, not all drives are able to read the Q-Checks
and not all of them are supported by QPxTool. Currently, most newer drives of
LiteOn, NEC, Pioneer and Plextor are supported.

Bug#629597: ITP: bedtools -- suite of utilities for comparing genomic features

2011-06-07 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Charles Plessy

  Package name: bedtools
  Version : 2.12.0
  Upstream Author : Aaron Quinlan
  URL : http://code.google.com/p/bedtools/
  License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : suite of utilities for comparing genomic features

The BEDTools utilities allow one to address common genomics tasks such as
finding feature overlaps and computing coverage. The utilities are largely
based on four widely-used file formats: BED, GFF/GTF, VCF, and SAM/BAM. Using
BEDTools, one can develop sophisticated pipelines that answer complicated
research questions by streaming several BEDTools together.

BEDTools is very popular in its field and will be a nice addition to Debian. A
package is almost ready at http://git.debian.org/?p=debian-med/bedtools.git

Have a nice day,

Unfortunately this bug will have to remain open for the time being, the

Bug#629596: torque-client-x11: qmgr gives unauthorised request with default /etc/hosts configuration

2011-06-07 Thread Kevin Mitchell
Package: torque-client-x11
Version: 2.4.12+dfsg-3
Severity: normal

Following instructions in usr/share/doc/torque-common/README.Debian.gz I
invariably ran into trouble when I got to the qmgr commands. I kept
getting "Unauthorized request" no matter what I tried. This included

1) As per upstream torque.setup, I tried first doing
echo set server operators += root@ | qmgr
echo set server managers += root@ | qmgr

Both commands were "unauthorized requests"
2) I confirmed that (as in
/var/spool/torque/server_priv/nodes,/etc/torque/server_name,
/var/spool/torque/mom_priv/config) was indeed the server host with "print
server" in qmgr which gave me "set server acl_hosts = ". Just to be sure,
I even tried qmgr but that gave the same problem.

3) Finally, I tracked it down to /etc/hosts which contained
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1

as I believe are the installation defaults (why?). By changing the fqdn
ip address to 127.0.0.1, everything started working. At the very least,
this should probably be documented. At present, there is only a vague
reference to /etc/hosts in the Readme.

the strange thing is however, that pidgin on my workstation (also sid,
but amd64) will work with the same config (i even copied the .purple

Evidently chromium doesn't support the "-remote openURL" syntax.

You can fix this by adding

SURFRAW_graphical_remote=no

to ~/.surfraw.conf (or ~/.config/surfraw/conf)

I've just committed a fix upstream to make SURFRAW_graphical_remote=no
the default.

I've downgraded the severity as it only affects one browser (well,
that I know of) and there is a workaround.

thanks,

Ian

Clearly you need to use strace -f

However, the problem much more likely lies with your nfs server than
with random programs that try to write to it.

This is weird, since you are using -I you are telling netselect to just use
ICMP probes (not UDP) which should work with most Debian servers (some
actually do block traceroute probes).

Please try to run (as root) this: 'netselect -I -vv -s 1 www.google.com'.

Questions:
- Do you get the same results? (i.e. ms)
- What happens if you drop the -I call? Any change?
- Do you see any logs in your kernel's message log when netselect is run?
  (Check dmesg)
- Is there any filtering device between your system and the Internet?

On the one hand, netselect-apt is not handling properly the case when
netselect does not find any suitable server (see bug #23, #420252) and, on
the other hand, netselect does not seem to work in your environment.

The first issue I can fix, the second one I cannot unless I get more
information from you.

Regards

Javier

I am also on i386 and also hit the failure on upgrade from 2.13-4 to
2.13-5. I did not see the "bad dynamic tag" assertion failure.

Elsewhere in the thread was discussion of old linkers in /lib. I had
that as well:

/lib$ echo ld*
ld-2.7.so ld-linux.so.2

I was able to fix my system by booting to a live USB, mounting my
filesystem and updating that symlink:

ln -sf i386-linux-gnu/ld-2.13.so /lib/ld-linux.so.2

I saw that some people were having trouble replicating the upgrade
failure. In case it helps, here is the upgrade history I was able to
find for the libc6 package on my system:

2010-10-12: libc6:i386 (2.11.2-5, 2.11.2-7)
2011-01-11: libc6:i386 (2.11.2-6, 2.11.2-7)
2011-05-23: libc6:i386 (2.11.2-7, 2.11.2-11)
2011-05-05: libc6:i386 (2.11.2-11, 2.13-2)
2011-05-24: libc6:i386 (2.13-2, 2.13-4)

Please let me know if there's any further information I can provide.

http://www.tinyplanet.ca/~lsorense/debian/pan/) and what it required was:

Change build-dep from libgmime-2.0-2-dev to libgmime-2.4-dev

Delete patch 01* and 03* from debian/patches (they are both upstream
already) and remove from 00list of course. I don't see the point in the
02* patch, but I didn't remove it since it didn't look relevant one way
or another.

Remove patches to config.sub and config.guess since they are already
upstream.

It appears to run successfully now. 0.133 is of course not installable
given libgmime-2.0 does not exist in debian anymore.

I see sendmail crashing, too. With the patch applied from the upstream

Bug#629591: python-nifti: datatype COMPLEX64 not supported

2011-06-07 Thread Arthur Magill
Package: python-nifti
Version: 0.20100607.1-3
Severity: normal

Datatype COMPLEX64 is not supported. However, this issue was patched upstream
here:

http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-
exppsy/pynifti.git;a=commit;h=f33a5268671a72d88f80b6a4ed9707064799af73

Some of the patch appears to have made it into the debian package, but not all
of it. clib.py has been updated (grep COMPLEX64
/usr/share/pyshared/nifti/clib.py), but utils.py has not. I'm not sure how this
might have happened?

Bug#629590: aptitude: Fails to obey '-o "#clear DPkg::Pre-Install-Pkgs;"'

2011-06-07 Thread Nick Phillips
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.3-3.2
Severity: normal

The command line:
apt-get -q -y -o "#clear DPkg::Pre-Install-Pkgs;" install somepkg

still causes dpkg-preconfigure to be used to preconfigure packages, when the
line:
DPkg::Pre-Install-Pkgs {"/usr/sbin/dpkg-preconfigure --apt || true";};

is present in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/70debconf

The equivalent invocation of apt-get successfully inhibits the preconfiguration.
I note that:
apt-config -o "#clear DPkg::Pre-Install-Pkgs;" dump

fails to parse the option and barfs, insisting that the option must contain an
"=".
Perhaps this is related?

Cheers,

Nick

As I outlined in #628525, mutt crashes when trying to send an email

#628525, but it turns out that it is another bug. I'm filing this as
important since it functionally prevents me from sending mail, but since
imtest works either way, I presume that it works functionally.

Bug#628516: dpkg-buildflags: add some no-effect flags

That also sounds very interesting. I actually meant populating a
/etc/dpkg/buildflags.conf, though buildd-tools-devel was probably the
wrong set of people to ask about that. I thought of b-t-d because
maintaining sbuild-createchroot(8) might involve familiarity with
these things; since most buildds have the chroot already set up iiuc
Raphaël's suggestion of contacting debian-wb-team was likely more
appropriate for that purpose.

The ability for sbuild to set environment variables for the
build sounds quite handy. I suppose pbuilder would have to learn
such a feature separately, too.

> Would you want a global configuration change, or per-distribution?

For my own purposes global would be handiest. Matthias might or
might not have other ideas.

Thanks, that clarified things somewhat.

Bug#629588: scponly package installation does not restrict ssh tcp port forwarding

2011-06-07 Thread yur
Package: scponly
Version: 4.8-4.1

Installation of scponly package installs openssh-server due to its
dependencies and does not configure openssh-server to restrict tcp port
forwarding.
With tcp port forwarding enabled any account with scponly access can
bind/forward any non-privileged port on the host or use it as a socks
proxy.

The package name and its description may give a false impression of
safety (by "without providing any remote execution priviledges"
statement) in providing "scponly" access with fully functional
SSH-portforwarding.
I'd suggest to add "AllowTcpForwarding no" option into sshd_config in
scponly post-install script or a note in Debian.README file regarding
SSH TCP port forwarding.

Yup, just did now. I wait for the i386 packages to be accepted first,
since otherwise it can get touchy about the source not being available.

I'm not sure how frequent the archive pulses are these days, but I think
they're four times a day. They may only be twice a day, though.

Bug#629534: libc6: Dynamic linker assertion failed after upgrade, nothing startable anymore

I believe I hit the same bug on amd64. After upgrading, all commands fail with

/lib/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 is pointing to a rather old ld-lsb-x86-64.so.3,
changing it to point to x86_64-linux-gnu/ld-2.13.so fixes the problem.

Bug#625877: Problems of using the beta driver, as I use the nvidia-kernel-dkms

2011-06-07 Thread M.
Hi all,

I reported the same bug here

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=629513

asking for the upload of the beta driver to experimental, as I use the
nvidia-kernel-dkms system and even if I try to remove the relevant
packages the beta driver directly from Nvidia would not install.
Having several machines affected, when the beta driver is going to hit
experimental? Or if that's not happening in a few hours, how can I
help and package this driver? Or, worst case scenario, how can I
install the Nvidia beta having used the nvidia-kernel-dkms before?

Thanks

I have both set:
allow_weak_crypto=true
permitted_enctypes = des-cbc-md5

And only the... wait I have des-cbc-md5 IIRC, not des-cbc-crc. I'll
check that tomorrow.

But it's not working after the last upgrade. When I posted yesterday I
was running a sid versión from a couple of weeks ago. Probably 1.9,
sorry can't remember now.

Dino is a pattern-based sequencer which allows users to write
small patterns of MIDI events and repeat and arrange them to
create a whole song. Each track has its own patterns, so it
is possible for example to play the same drum pattern over
and over again while different lead synth patterns and basslines
 are playing.

Bug#629582: dpkg-dev: Add local-patch-header?

2011-06-07 Thread Russ Allbery
Package: dpkg-dev
Version: 1.16.0.3
Severity: wishlist

Most of my packages are maintained in Git, with the separate changes, if
broken out at all, broken out in separate branches with their own
history. Since the tools like TopGit for generating a patch series from
that setup are all rather awkward to use, I generally set
single-debian-patch with a patch-header file explaining the situation.

Currently, I'm using options for that, but that means that any NMU changes
are rolled into the same patch. I'd rather set single-debian-patch only
for my uploads from the revision control repository so that NMUs are kept
in separate patches. So I want to switch to local-options from options
for setting single-debian-patch.

The problem is that I have a patch-header file that explains why all the
changes are merged together into one patch, and the contents of that file
do not apply to any NMU patches and would be confusing. But there doesn't
seem to be a way to make the patch-header apply only to uploads from my
repository and not be included in the package.

Could you add a local-patch-header file or some other mechanism to use
that patch-header only with my local-options file and not for every NMU
diff or changes made by others?

No, in that case, this is not valid, indeed ftp.ro.debian.org is under our
control, so in case of issue, we can very fast repoint this to a valid mirror
somewhere else.

The point of syncing from ftp.ro for romanian mirrors is to get updates very
fast, avoid overloading ftp.de, and still spreading the load of Romanian users
over several mirrors including yours.

Bug#629581: Zombie windows after closing terminal

2011-06-07 Thread Ulrich Eckhardt
Package: fluxbox
Version: 1.3.1~dfsg1-2

Problem:

The simple procedure to reproduce the problem is to run

  xterm -e false

in a shell ("xterm -e false" works, too). This will create an xterm that is
immediately closed again. Sometimes, this window will get stuck. Checking the
output of "ps ux|grep xterm", I see that the xterm process was already
terminated, so the window is left without the according X client.

Workaround:

In order to remove that window, just repeat the command that actually caused
it. In rare cases, you will end up with one more zombie, but now and then the
zombies are removed.

Notes:
 - What makes this special is that the client only lives for a very short
time. Due to the asynchronous nature of X, it is possible that the client
terminates even before the window manager has fully mapped the window that was
created. At least that's what I would look at, but I don't really know.
 - This might be related to[1], but there it mentions tab groups.

Cheers!

Uli

I'm not sure if this is related to gnome-shell or libc6. It's possible to launch
gnome-session-fallback and all normaly used applications.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the report. Would you like to see updates permanently
disabled, or would it be sufficient to have them disabled by default,
and still permit the user to enable them if they wish?

Thanks,
Andy

Bug#615121: #615121: iptables --localtz option of -m time not working

2011-06-07 Thread Jan Engelhardt
I have marked this as +fixed-upstream, as the --localtz option has been
officially deprecated for this very problem; preferably, everything is
specified in UTC now. More documentation in iptables-1.4.11's manpage.

0.4.2-2 isn't in sid any more; admittedly, it was only automagically
removed this afternoon. On the other hand, 0.5.0-1 has been in the
archive since April.

infinoted is a dependency package built from the same source as
infinoted-$version, so there's no "porting" involved. And indeed, the
version of infinoted which is in unstable _does_ depend on
infinoted-0.5.

Adam

Bug#629575: psql: FATAL: could not write init file on lenny->squeeze upgrade

2011-06-07 Thread ross
Package: bacula-director-pgsql
Version: 5.0.2-2.2+b1
Severity: normal

May warrant higher severity.
May be same as 605449.

I attempted to send this earlier, but I don't think the report went out.

Upgrading from lenny to squeeze produces this message while configuring
bacula-director-pgsql:

│ An error occurred while upgrading the database:
│
│ psql: FATAL: could not write init file
│
│ Fortunately,
/var/cache/dbconfig-common/backups/bacula-director-pgsql_2.4.4-1withssl.pgsql
holds a backup of the database, made just before the upgrade.
│
│ If at this point you choose "retry", you will be prompted with all the
configuration questions once more and another attempt will be made at
performing the operation. "retry (skip questions)" will immediately attempt the
  │
│ operation again, skipping all questions. If you choose "abort", the
operation will fail and you will need to downgrade, reinstall, reconfigure this
package, or otherwise manually intervene to continue using it.│

│ Next step for database upgrade:

The backup file also does not exist (perhaps 602431?).

I also had trouble with the initial database setup for bacula under
Lenny; it is possible those problems may have left dbconfig in an
unusual state. The resulting database has seemed usable in simple
tests; that is bacula under Lenny could make and restore backups.
I think I've had similar problems with initial setup on other Lenny
systems, but since it's old I did not pursue or report them.

The version in Lenny was locally built to enable SSL; otherwise it is
standard 2.4.4-1.

I am submitting this system from a production system, NOT the vm on
which I ran the test. The information should be similar to the
VM in its pre-upgrade (Lenny) state. Here is some information from
the VM while the error message reported above displays on the screen:

I'm interested in the Bitcoin system too. As soon as I learn how to effectively
use bitcoind(1), I'll make a proper completion snippet :)

Buona serata,
