Bug#653544: php-mail: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated

Version: 1.2.0-2

PHP Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated
in /usr/share/php/Mail/smtp.php on line 349

I see the above message in my Apache error.log when I use php-mail. The
attached patch stops the error messages and appears to give exactly the same
functionality.

I have contact Sean about new upstream cacti release before he go to

Can you upload the package for unstable to mentors.debian.net [1]? That
would make my job as a sponsor easier. Thanks already!

I see that for lenny the necessary patches for the security update were

This bug report is mostly useless for us right now.

Sorry for that here's more info.

On this url you can find a demo that excercise the dragdrop feature
available on modern browsers:

http://html5demos.com/file-api

So you are supposed to drag an image from your file manager / desktop
and drop it in the drop zone delimited by dashed borders. Then you
should see the image inside the drop zone.

This works with nautilus but not with thunar with iceweasel as browser.

Probably it was a too bold move to assign it to thunar, sorry if that is
the case.

thanks,
riccardo

Bug#653408: [Debian-med-packaging] Bug#653408: [ITR] templates://biomaj/{templates}

2011-12-29 Thread Olivier Sallou

Le 12/29/11 8:53 AM, Christian PERRIER a écrit :
 Dear Debian maintainer,

The Debian internationalisation team and the Debian English
localisation team will soon begin the review of the debconf
 templates used in biomaj.

This review takes place for all packages that use debconf to interact with
 users and its aims are:
 - to improve the use of English in all debconf templates;
 - to make the wording of debconf templates more consistent;
 - to encourage more translations of templates.

Even if your first language is English, this process is likely to help
track down typos or errors, and improve consistency between the
debconf templates of your package and that of other packages in the
 distribution.

The process involves both debian-l10n-english contributors and
 Debian translators.

The details of the process are given in
 http://wiki.debian.org/I18n/SmithDebconfReviewProcess.

I will act as the coordinator of this activity for biomaj.

The first step of the process is to review the debconf source
template file(s) of biomaj. This review will start on Sunday, January 01,
 2012, or
as soon as you acknowledge this mail with an agreement for us to
 carry out this process.

All parts of the process will be carried out in close collaboration
with you, and, unless you explicitely ask for it, no upload nor NMU
 will happen for biomaj.

If you approve this process, please let us know by replying to this
mail. If some work in progress on your side would conflict with such a
rewrite (such as adding or removing debconf templates), please say so,
and we will defer the review to later in the development cycle.

Process can go. However I started to update templates file to add longer
description to the fields.
I join the file if you want to. Else, file is up-to-date on Alioth SVN.

 Thank you for your attention.

Bug#640331: /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.1/xulrunner-stub: Memory leak in xulrunner-stub (Was: iceweasel 6.0 - huge ram use)

2011-12-29 Thread Jacob Sparre Andersen
Package: xulrunner-1.9.1
Version: 1.9.1.16-11
Followup-For: Bug #640331

Dear Maintainer,

I've made a simple test of Iceweasel, since I suspected it has a memory leak:

 1) Restarted iceweasel.

 2) Restored a session such that two tabs were open:

 a) a restore session tab
 b) http://queue.acm.org/detail.cfm?id=2076798

 3) Registered the memory use of xulrunner-stub using top:

Thu Dec 29 06:12:47 2011:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND
13138 sparre20 0 296m 68m 26m S 0.0 14.0 0:11.73 xulrunner-stub

 4) Left Iceweasel (almost on it own) for a few hours. (In reality I have had
3 different pages open in a 3rd tab.)

 5) Registered the memory use of xulrunner-stub using top once again:

Thu Dec 29 09:28:58 2011:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEMTIME+ COMMAND
13138 sparre20 0 317m 59m 15m S 0.3 12.1 2:43.90 xulrunner-stub

 6) This indicates that Iceweasel (xulrunner-stub) leaks memory at a rate of
about 8.4 Mb/hour. Since I prefer to leave my browser running for weeks
at a time, this is not really acceptable. And even if it was, it
indicates a programming error, which might be used for an attack against
my system.

Kind regards,

Jacob Sparre Andersen

Bug#649235: [Pkg-ime-devel] Bug#649235: ibus-sunpinyin: please depend on/recommend python-glade2

2011-12-29 Thread Osamu Aoki
Hi,

Wait a moment... please.

My mail had 2 points.
 * bug needs to be responded and dealt properly. (This is the primary point)
 * bug seems easy if it is only to add dependency. (This was a small point)

This second point should have had some qualifier stating If this is
really a bug and bug reporter is right, ... I did not check this in
detail when I posted message. I did not mean to ask you to follow BTS
report without questioning its validity. I did not even know if BTS
report is right.

This upload will fix this problem.

/usr/lib/ibus-sunpinyin is the default install destinationm, IMO,
ibus-setup-sunpinyin should be called via input window, rather than via the
 command line.

You mean that this is called via ibus panel and, in that case, this
always works without problem as is? If this is true. Then you can and
should respond so and closed this bug or mark this bug as
wishlist/wontfix with this comment.

I did not know the answer. Let me see h ...

My guts feeling is python-gtk2 dependency is enough since we are not
using glade to create UI interface from this dialogue.

ibus-anthy, ibus-sunpinyin, ibus-pinyin, ... : all depends on ibus
ibus depends on ibus-python
ibus-python depends on python-gtk2

So we are OK with dependency.

other ibus input engine, such as ibus-pinyin, put ibus-engine-*
and ibus-setup-* in /usr/lib directory too.

Yah... many many program executables are shipped in this way if they are meant
to be
called from within its packaged programs. These are private
executables and they reside in /usr/lib/foo directories.

/usr/lib/git-core/ is a good example :-)

 Thanks and Regards,

Regards,

Osamu

Current Iceowl (also iceape and icedove) in unstable FTBFS for armhf:

However it's easy to fix for all those packages, just by backporting this file:

mozilla/xpcom/reflect/xptcall/src/md/unix/xptcinvoke_arm.cpp

from a recent iceweasel 9.0 or icedove in experimental.

The reason for the failure is that the old version of the invoker for
arm has no support for hardfloat and thumb2.

i've confused during set $DIST in changelog because debexpo doesn't know

I see that for lenny the necessary patches for the security update were

And are the patches for lenny already been reviewed, it does not seem to
 be the case?

 Cheers

Squeezelenny patches already uploaded to debexpo. someone in -security

By the way, do you consider to review or sponsoring cacti-spine too?
cacti-spine have upstream release. I've uploaded to debexpo too

Bug#646429: [PATCH] rtc: Fix alarm rollover when day or month is out-of-range

2011-12-29 Thread Ben Hutchings
Commit f44f7f96a20af16f6f12e1c995576d6becf5f57b ('RTC: Initialize
kernel state from RTC') introduced a potential infinite loop. If an
alarm time contains a wildcard month and an invalid day ( 31), or a
wildcard year and an invalid month (= 12), the loop searching for the
next matching date will never terminate. Treat the invalid values as
wildcards.

Unfortunately, that patch is just a mess. It has not been sent upstream

that appear to add support for some newer firmware/hardware versions.
Please could you test version 3.2-rc7 from experimental?

When a device needs a non-free package, there is a message saying something
like some devices may need additonnal modules,so put them in now. We can
think that this is a generic pop-up and skip it. It should specify the device
name and missing module(it can be done, since the information is right in the
console log).

Bug#500558: Apache fails to start..

2011-12-29 Thread william felipe_welter
I can reproduce this behavior out of boot on Squeeze..
The error occurs when you have one interface that only have IPv6
address ( this happen if you call dhclient on some interface that has
no link ) and have one directive listen with IPv4 address ( even if
is the loopback address) on the ports.conf.

Simple way to reproduce (with apache stoped):
1) Edit the ports.conf with: listen 127.0.0.1:80
2) Remove the network cable and execute: dhclient
3) Kill the dhclient with CTRL+C
4) Execute ifconfig to confirm that your iface now have a IPv6 address
5) Try to start apache2

I will try to debug why apache turn in error even if have my loopback
has IPv4 address.

Bug#653604: Wishlist: Importing CVS (save last import parameters)

2011-12-29 Thread yellow
Package: osmo
Version: 0.2.10+svn898-1
Severity: wishlist

Wow !!
Osmo rocks amazingly. It is extremely light, and one can import the microsoft
exchange contacts so easily.
THank you so much.

However, I would like to make it more automatic. Is it possible that my last
configaution parameters (headers are corresponding to what) are saved into some
possible files (to save the way I had my headers)?

What I did. I exported the contacts to microsoft excel, then I had to remove a
bit of column since you do not take only hte first headers and not all of them.

THen from ms excel, I export to csv.

Then osmo : import and it is very straight-forward.
even additional info work

Thx

Happy Osmo User

Bug#653609: CgiHowto does not have correct instructions for munin-html

2011-12-29 Thread Brendan Byrd
Package: munin
Version: 1.999.4508-1
Severity: normal
Tags: experimental

The instructions on http://munin-monitoring.org/wiki/CgiHowto for the
munin-cgi-html
feature are not accurate for a number of reasons:

1. The paths are wrong. There seems to be a disconnect between the new default
apache.conf
file and the HOWTO. The default apache.conf wants to go to
/var/cache/munin/www/static for
the static images, which is actually wrong, so the HOWTO's Alias is correct in
this case.
However, the Rewrites to /cgi-bin/munin-cgi-html is unneccesary if there is
going to be an
Alias to /munin-cgi. See my apache.conf below.

2. RewriteEngine will not turn on unless it's turned on from the VirtualHost
statement. Per
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/mod/mod_rewrite.html#vhosts:

By default, mod_rewrite configuration settings from the main server context are
not
inherited by virtual hosts. To make the main server settings apply to virtual
hosts, you
must place the following directives in each VirtualHost section:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteOptions Inherit

This was driving me crazy until I saw this and put the two statements in my
VirtualHost
entry. Everything worked after that.

3. It recommends commenting out the munin-html line. As you can see from the
last line of
this email, Debian doesn't really like that. Could munin-html simply check the
config and
exit if it's set to munin-cgi-html?

Bug#653612: munin-cgi-graph (and possibly normal mode) does not honor graph size settings for multigraphs

2011-12-29 Thread Brendan Byrd
Package: munin
Version: 1.999.4508-1
Severity: normal

Still having issues with the multigraphs, even after getting the munin-cgi
issue fixed in
experimental (see Bug #582786). I have the following in my munin-conf.d:

graph_width 700
graph_height 400

This works for all graphs except the multigraph ones that were having problems.
 This
problem is even visible on the older broken versions (since the first summary
graph
would still be exposed). Instead, the graphs are using the default size.

Bug#653073: bug#10363: /etc/mtab - /proc/mounts symlink affects df(1) output for

2011-12-29 Thread Olaf Titz
So this is a special case of a general problem with no easy solution: What
should df do when 2 filesystems are mounted at the same location? It can't
easily give correct information for both of them, since the later mount
obscures the earlier mount from view.

It is a special case of an even more general problem, that mtab or
/proc/self/mounts and therefore mount(8), df(1) etc. only represent the
linear path where a filesystem was mounted at the time it was mounted,
not the underlying tree structure.

What happens with the following sequences, assuming / is the only
mounted filesystem:

mkdir /mnt/p1
mount /dev/sde1 /mnt/p1
mkdir /mnt/p1/p2
mount /dev/sdh1 /mnt/p1/p2

versus

mkdir -p /mnt/p1/p2
mount /dev/sdh1 /mnt/p1/p2
mount /dev/sde1 /mnt/p1

not that that would be very useful, but in general it is possible. In
the second case the filesystem on sdh1 is completely invisible, yet
mtab and /proc/mounts in both cases contain something like

/dev/sde1 /mnt/p1 ...
/dev/sdh1 /mnt/p1/p2 ...

only in different order: the last mounted filesystem comes last.

This way df(1) should already be able to just hide any obscured
filesystem: it could make two passes over the mount list, remembering
every mount point and if a later mount point is equal or a parent of
an earlier one (which can be determined by a simple string compare),
mark the earlier one as invisible. Then in the second pass over the
list output the remaining mounts.

Remains the question whether this is correct in all cases and actually
desirable behaviour. I think the latter is true, because df(1) output
is just a snapshot of how the system looks like to a newly created
process, and a newly created process can't access the obscured
filesystems at all. (The fact that /proc/mounts is a symlink to
/proc/self/mounts hints in the same direction.)

If what's really wanted is the status of all mounted filesystems
whether visible or not, I fear this can't be done without kernel help,
because exactly by the snapshot as seen by a new process nature you
don't get a handle to statfs() from the obscured parts. They can be
found by looking in /sys/block or /proc/diskstats but there doesn't
seem to be useful info, perhaps just another sysfs file containing the
statfs() output would already suffice.

Or perhaps just propose that one of the three nearly-identical
/proc/self/mount* files get two additional columns with the info df(1)
needs...

Olaf

Bug#653610: scalapack: FTBFS on mips(el) and s390

2011-12-29 Thread Adam C Powell IV
Package: src:scalapack
Severity: serious
Tags: patch

Hi Muammar,

I'm afraid scalapack FTBFS again on three platforms. On all three the
failure mechanism is the same: libmpich2.so is not linked to libmpl.so .

The workaround is in the attached patch: if you explicitly link -lmpich
-lmpl it should work.

I'm also filing a bug against mpich2 which should have libmpich.so link
to libmpl.so .

solved correctly.

In the meantime, the tool emit the warning.

I don't think this is really an issue, since I will release the next CImg

Do you have a public version control system for mawk?

The divergence between the Debian version and yours is quite large, and
it would be easier to have access to the individual patchs to review them.

Being mawk the default awk for the Debian systems, these changes could have an
important effect in the distribution in general, hence the need to review and
test them thoroughly.

Bug#405702: sdl-net1.2 bug #405702 fixed long ago

2011-12-29 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo
2011/12/29 Ulrich Eckhardt dooms...@knuut.de:
On Thursday 29 December 2011 01:20:43 you wrote:
Sorry for the big delay, there are new efforts to try to maintain SDL
 packages in better shape.

This bug seems to have been fixed long ago (Thu Apr 20 16:48:25 2006
+, about 9 months before this Debian bug report was submitted), in
 this commit upstream:
 http://hg.libsdl.org/SDL_net/rev/8551dd6a2235

There is one thing that strikes me though, and that is that I only consider
the fix above as a workaround, not as a fix. There are problems with it:
  1. the ignored signal is ignored process-wide
This means that other code which relies on the signal being raised will fail
when libSDL switches the process to ignoring it.
  2. the signal is not ignored if a handler is in place
If other areas actually registered a handler, the signal will not be ignored,
the code in SDL checks this. This could mean that SDL then again starts to
fail (I don't think so though).
  3. the wrong handler is restored if the signal was ignored
If the calling code ignored the signal process-wide, SDL will not ignore it
again, but when uninitialized it will again switch it to the default, while
the remaining code might still rely on it being ignored.

What I don't get is why send() isn't simply called with MSG_NOSIGNAL as I
suggested. I switched to dropping SDL_net and creating my own network wrapper
doing just that and I never had problems again. I can't provide proper tests
though, since I have abandoned that code altogether.

Sorry, I didn't link the bug report in the previous e-mail, which
sheds more light into this decision:
http://bugzilla.libsdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121

As I understand it, Sam Latinga would prefert to use, in order:

1) BSD's SO_NOSIGPIPE socket option, but it's not (was not?) available in Linux;

2) your proposed MSG_NOSIGNAL, which probably it's not (was not?)
available in non-Linux systems;

3) so SIG_IGN is the last resort working portably without complicating
things from his POV, and at that point in time. (Maybe there are
better solutions now?).

As you most probably know, in Debian we have Linux, FreeBSD and GNU
Hurd kernels, so this is a direct concern for us, too.

Althought supporting both options with #ifdefs is probably not much
code and would give the best possible solution in each platform, maybe
the result is inconsistent between systems and the code using SDL_net
would have to forcibly cope with these differences when using
different Unix kernels, so probably he just wanted to abstract
differences away with SDL_net. Probably the majority of projects
using SDL_net favour multiplatformness rather than perfect control
of network conditions, and indeed maybe many of them actually do not
care about Unix differences.

On top of that, today (5+ years after the decision was taken in one
way) changing the behaviour would probably not be good for all people
already relying on this particular behaviour of SDL_net, even if it's
suboptimal.

Does this make sense? What do you think?

Note that I don't object to closing this
bug, as obviously the fix is good enough, but I wanted to raise the concerns
so they are at least documented.

Well, I think that your concern is valid in principle, what I don't
know is if the explanation of upstream's decision changes your
opinion.

Please let me know what do you think about this, now that all the
considerations are taken into account; and let me know if you want me
to escalate this issue to upstream, even if it's only for a suggestion
to take into consideration for their future releases (1.3 is coming
soon, maybe they break more important assumptions/behaviours than this
one).

Cheers.

I suggested this to Ansgar on IRC because even if we already have all the
required information, it's painful to extract it from the Source field
implementing the required fallback on the Package and Version fields.

Thus I believe that those virtual fields would be useful.

or even a special virtual field with the correct value for Built-Using
 could be implemented?

I don't think that this brings us anything significant. The former virtual
fields ought to be enough.

po-debconf is Debian-only material, so it may make little less sense to

may probably be really noisy for po).

For po I agree, but at least for now most stuff in po4a looks Debian

It's now available for the languages that use the robot, e.g.:

Bug#653562: gosa: allows DNS entries with '_' (underscores) in hostnames

Source: gosa
Version: 2.6.11-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when adding a network system to gosa it is possible to give it a name with an
underscore.
This leads into a LDAP error when I try to use this added host afterwards in
the netgroups plugin.
As far as I know underscores are not allowed in host names.
There should be an input validation in gosa that only allows correct host names.

Bug#638363: hdf5: please disable MPI support on s390x

* Aurelien Jarno aure...@debian.org, 2011-08-18, 22:23:
hdf5 build depends on libopenmpi-dev on s390x, while this package is
not available (like on s390). Therefore the package is not buildable
here. Could you please disable MPI support on s390x in the next upload?

Now that s390x is an official port (on ftp-master), it would be nice if
the fix could land in unstable.

Bug#653471: installation-reports: Squeeze i386 6.0.3 on EeePC 701 Network

2011-12-29 Thread Gasha

I have Debian (LXDE) working on EEE PC 701.
Upgraded from Lenny to Squeeze. There were some problems i remember.

Most probably, it is because Debian removed non-free firmware files.
Did you try full install ISO image?

Sorry if I used the wrong message format, I don't get Debian installed and so I
do not get reportbug running.

Installation does not work on EeePC 701.

I used the netinstall image (debian-6.0.3-i386-netinst.iso), dd'ed it to a
SD-card and rebooted the EeePC.

It looks like the Ethernetadapter Atheros L2 100 Mbit (rev a0) and the WLAN
Adapter Atheros AR5007EG 802.11 b/g Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01) are
both not working.

I tried to modprobe the corresponding modules, but the modules are not in the
image.

Since Netzwork does not work the installer tries to find a CD-ROM drive which I
do not have.

The only option left is to stop the installation.

Is there a kernel and initrd files which I can copy into the SD-card to resolve
the problem?

Regards Richard

That's European-style relative clause punctuation. You want:

Please specify the directory where the Java Development Kit
which is used by BioMAJ is installed.

Or, since the place where it's installed is the place where it is,
simplify to:

Please specify the path to the Java Development Kit for BioMAJ.

Give more details. I however wonder why this has to be

It does have a Depends: openjdk-6-jdk|default-jdk|sun-java6-jdk, so
yes, this sounds like a job for policy and/or $JAVA_HOME.

Upstream seem to think so. I notice there's a bit more information in
the revised version, but it's still rather unclear to me exactly what
it is that needs to happen first or what this allows to happen second.

Candidates for both include:
a) the package mysql-server-x.y being fully installed
b) a biomaj_log database and dbadmin being created
c) the connection parameters being set up via debconf
d) BioMAJ being configured to populate the database automatically

I'm guessing that (a) is a prerequisite for (c) which gives you (d),
but is doing (b) also a prerequisite or is it automated?

Maybe:

Once the MySQL database for BioMAJ has been created and configured, it
can populate itself automatically instead of needing to be updated
manually.

Please specify whether the database connection should be configured now.

Bug#405702: sdl-net1.2 bug #405702 fixed long ago

2011-12-29 Thread Ulrich Eckhardt

Anyway, this bug report was fixed long ago althought it was never
properly explained, documented or closed... so doing that right now :)

Thank you for this work, Manuel! This bug was nagging me everytime I looked at
the list of bugs I filed, because I never understood how it could linger for
so long without more people complaining. The fact that a functioning
workaround is in place explains it. Note that I don't object to closing this
bug, as obviously the fix is good enough, but I wanted to raise the concerns
so they are at least documented.

Cheers! :)

Uli

2011-12-29 Thread Christian PERRIER
Quoting Olivier Sallou (olivier.sal...@irisa.fr):

Process can go. However I started to update templates file to add longer
 description to the fields.
I join the file if you want to. Else, file is up-to-date on Alioth SVN.

I actually already prepared something which I think is more inline
with the current writing style we suggest.

I'll send that in next mail.

 Hi

It looks like this bug still needs fixing in squeeze. I'm not sure what
impact the VSN changes have in the upstream patch [1]. Can you have a
look and maybe prepare and test a fixed package?

I'm working on it. Will upload the fix into squeeze-proposed-updates in a few
days. Should I in advance send the patch to the debian-release mailing list?

Are you sure the Security Team thinks it does not warrant a DSA? I would
send the patch to the Security Team to see if they want to issue a DSA
or rather have it go via proposed-updates (in which case the patch
should be sent to the Release Team).

Cheers

Bug#653590: digikam: Please build with --as-needed to avoid unneccessary dependencies

2011-12-29 Thread Daniel Schaal
Package: digikam
Version: 4:2.4.1-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Building with -Wl,--as-needed added to the linker flags would
avoid some unnecessary dependencies.

The attached patch adds -Wl,--as-needed to LDFLAGS before
calling dh_auto_configure.

Thanks,
Daniel Schaal

Bug#653542: [Pkg-alsa-devel] Bug#653542: alsa-source: module-assistant fails to install mudules with non-standard kernel, README.Debian is outdated

2011-12-29 Thread Elimar Riesebieter

* Andreas Glaeser [111229 08:30 +0100]:

 Package: alsa-source
 Version: 1.0.23+dfsg-2
 Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***
module-assistant fails to auto-install the more recent alsa-modules from
'alsa-source'-package when running a non-standard custom built kernel.

This is well known.

 It issues an error
about missing kernel-headers, although there are configured kernel-sources
 present, which
should be sufficient for this task. The file README.Debian in
 /usr/share/doc/alsa-source/
describes building a modules-package with make-kpkg this did not
 work for me either.

make-kpkg is outdated.

The communication in Debian is bad. Most maintainers do not tell
me whether they need more info, or what about fixing the reported
 problems.

We don't need more infos as alsa-source is going to be orphaned. If
you want to run latest drivers either install Debian's sid version
of kernel or build vanilla alsa-driver-sources by yourself. Set this
bug to wntfix hereby.

Bug#586251: Include patch for rotate axes of touchpad

2011-12-29 Thread Carlos Alberto Lopez Perez
merge 586251 628959
thanks

There is a patch for rotating the axes of the synaptics devices. I
tested it extensively and works very good. I have attached this patch in
#628959 (applies to squeeze version of xserver-xorg-input-synaptics)

However looking at the forwarded upstream bug report
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21129 seems that upstream
wants to implement a general rotation mechanism for all drivers instead
of letting each driver implement its own mechanism. Sounds reasonable.

Regards!
