Bug#665943: systemd: mounts tmpfs on /media
]] Paul Wise systemd mounts a tmpfs on /media. There is no point in doing that since the directory is usually empty anyway. Anything that mounts stuff there should clean up after itself anyway. No response from the upstream author so far, but I can reproduce the bug. Example of reported times on my LTSP system: 14:20 302997 14:30 2703096 (30 minutes more) 14:40 3303215 14:50 2103337 (30 minutes less -- correct time again after 30 minutes idle) It looks related to DPMS suspend time. Bug#665923: [Pkg-samba-maint] Bug#665923: file enumeration vulnerability via mount.cifs due to early use of chdir() and error message
On 03/27/2012 04:43 AM, Nico Golde wrote: Hi, Hi Nico it was discovered that mount.cifs is doing a chdir to the specified directory before the fstab file is actually checked. Since mount.cifs is (also on Debian) installed as setuid, this allows an attacker to use the program to enumerate the existence of files/directories on the system by checking for the existence of the error response. I don't have time to write a patch now or to test that, but a quick look at mount.cifs.c suggests that this can be fixed just by changing the order of the execution. It's not that easy, as that would mean that another security issue gets reintroduced. Upstream is looking at it now and very probaby they will just make sure that the error responses are all the same. Bug#666047: netbase: Won't halt properly with NFSroot+aufs configuration
Package: netbase Version: 4.40 Severity: minor On certain configuration described below, system fails to halt during interface shutdown process and stalls in unusable state. === Description === When a system is running on NFSroot (or any other network-based storage/filesystem), netbase usually detects it, and skips doing ifdown(8) so it can properly halt. This is done by check_network_file_systems() in /etc/init.d/networking script. However, when a root filesystem is unionized by aufs, current detection method won't work, as /etc/init.d/umountnfs.sh can unmount NFS, even when it is a rootfs. After umount, its entry in /proc/mounts is gone, but NFS(-through-aufs) is still valid and in use. Due to this detection error, networking script goes on to do ifdown(8), and stalls shutdown process. It may be possible to use modprobe -r nfs to see if NFS is really in use or not, but that is too kludgy and NFS-specific (I'm certain this will happen with all network filesystem). It may be better to mark this as WONTFIX and just keep it as a record. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (600, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages netbase depends on: ii initscripts 2.87dsf-8 scripts for initializing and shutt ii lsb-base 3.2-23 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip Versions of packages netbase recommends: ii ifupdown 0.6.9 high level tools to configure netw netbase suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. The installation process is smooth (d-i prompts for a firmware), and the system is working well. But don't run lshw with this kernel, it may cause panic (#665932). Well I can't see any changes that might have fixed this. Maybe there's a difference between your machine and Hermann's? Hermann, what was the last kernel version where the cassini driver worked on this system? You originally reported that the problem started with 2.6.24 in 'etch-and-a-half'. The short answer is: never, the driver always crashes the machine after a short time. As far as I remember with discussions from davem the driver only worked on UP machines, which I can't simulate with the Sun Fire 480R as it has 2 CPU/board. A dual cassini Gigabit RJ45 is build in. I'm on vanilla 3.2.12 at the moment and will test after easter in the (not so much) spare time. If anybody with such a machine has it running I'm interested to hear. Bug#665904: Absolute Link
With respect to the absolute link from the global document to one of the documents, I have successfully brought documents from LibreOffice to OpenOffice, which is on my Windows (Vista) partition. OO also uses absolute links, however it finds the documents and adapts the links. For example from file:///home/... to file:///C:/Users/... - however the other direction, that is, from OpenOffice to LibreOffice, this does not work automatically. Seemingly LibreOffice, as opposed to OpenOffice, does not adapt the links from the directory structure from where it comes to where it goes (even from Win to Win - even in XP and Vista the paths are different). *Desirable*: Not only relative links for example from Global document to document 1, but also document 1 to document 2 etc. David -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#666008: RFP: pogo -- Probably the simplest and fastest audio player for Linux
Am 28.03.2012 10:39, schrieb Gergely Nagy: Pardon my ignorance, but how is a GTK+ player, that supports searching, cover display and whatnot simpler and faster than gst123 ~/Music/* ? You're right, this comparison should be limited to players with graphical interfaces only. What makes it faster than any other gstreamer-based audioplayer? Or simpler than any of the other similar software? (Of which, we have plenty of packaged already) Audio players normally play songs instantly, so comparing that time doesn't really make sense. What's important though is the startup time of the program. Decibel has been written with that in mind (http://decibel.silent-blade.org/index.php?n=Main.Benchmark) and Pogo has even improved a bit on that. You shouldn't take the tagline too seriously though, it is primarily a way to outline the primary goals (simplicity and speed) and get people to try out the program for themselves. Based on the description, I found nothing that would make it more interesting than some of the things we already have packaged. How is it different from decibel audio player, of which pogo is a fork of? Decibel is already a fast and easy-to-use player, but Pogo takes that one step further: Among other features it uses less chrome so there's more space for the tracks, it features searching (on the harddrive and in the playlist) and groups tracks by album in the playlist to further save space. Actually pogo is the only player I know of, that let's you collapse and expand the playlist and move around albums with a single dragdrop motion. You're right, there are thousands of audio players, I just found none to fit my needs excatly, so I went off to create another one. Decibel has proven to be an excellent foundation for this because of its modular code. BTW: There's already an Ubuntu PPA for pogo. Potential packagers can find the packaging code at http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~jendrikseipp/pogo/trunk/files/head:/debian/ http://bazaar.launchpad.net/%7Ejendrikseipp/pogo/trunk/files/head:/debian/ .

On 03/28/2012 01:01 AM, Luis wrote: Hi Thomas 2012/3/27 Thomas Goirand z...@debian.org: Now, there's only one thing I am concerned with before the upload, it's the debian/copyright. It tells about what's in debian/*, but not about the pear.phpunit.de.reg which is in the orig.tar.gz. How did you get the file? What's the license of it? I download the channel.xml definition [0]file and install it with # pear channel-add channel.xml And PEAR create this files: root@sid:/tmp# locate phpunit /usr/share/php/.channels/pear.phpunit.de.reg /usr/share/php/.channels/.alias/phpunit.txt /usr/share/php/.registry/.channel.pear.phpunit.de So i package only the .reg file, the /usr/share/php/.registry/.channel.pear.phpunit.de directory is created later on every PEAR package from that channel. Now i remember why i choose a native package: so i can distribute the .reg file in debian just like the pear-horde-channel package source package. I can't find a license for the channel.xml file or the generated ,reg What we should do with the copyright of that file? It's PEAR who creates the .reg file dynamically, right? I mean, it's because you do pear channel-add channel.xml that the .reg is created. So in a way, *you* created the file, and we can ship it to the license type you decide, don't you think? At least, that's my view on the issue. Comments would be appreciated. Thomas -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? For npm-1.1.4, the last one is : git://git.debian.org/collab-maint/node-which.git (i asked David Paleino to take care of that one). IMO the three other modules that are left are too bound to npm to be packaged separatedly. Bug#666057: libselinux1-dev: Removal of Provides: libselinux-dev breaks libfuse-dev
Package: libselinux1-dev Version: 2.1.9-3 Severity: grave In libselinux 2.1.9-3, you removed the Provides: libselinux-dev from libselinux1-dev. This may have been a mistake since it isn't explicitly mentioned in the changelog. At any rate the result is that libfuse-dev is now uninstallable in unstable, so I can no longer build grub2. Please restore this Provides as soon as possible. (This could also be fixed by libfuse-dev depending on libselinux1-dev directly, so I've CCed the libfuse-dev maintainer; but it does seem a bit abrupt to yank the Provides out from under its feet without so much as a bug report.) Bug#666059: clusterssh: cssh does not deal well with compound commands
Package: clusterssh Version: 4.00_11 Severity: normal Tags: upstream Hello, I am in the unenviable position to report a bug on behalf of a colleague, whom I explained the behaviour described below to. He subsequently lost interest and my almost-finished, rather lucidly written script that reproduced the critical cssh-features lingered sadly on my drive ever since. No more! Here we go: ClusterSSH does not deal well with compound commands as handed to the '-a' flag, eg. cssh [remote_server] -a cd /; ls; sleep 10 The directory listed will be the local working directory, /not/ the remote root directory. I elaborated on this in a separate Perl script, available on Github[0] and attached. The comment section does a good job (I'm a bit self-aggrandising today, am I not?) explaining, but heavily references the (very small) code section of the script. For this reason, I am not including the description here and instead would like to refer you to the script. In addition the script offers a naïve solution! Sorry for the wild circumstancial mess. Yours, Hagen [0] https://github.com/hfuchs/misc/blob/master/cssh_action_test.pl #!/usr/bin/perl # 2011-11-04, Created by Hagen Fuchs hagen.fu...@physik.tu-dresden.de # # Purpose: ClusterSSH does not deal well with compound commands as # handed to the '-a' flag, eg. # # cssh [remote_server] -a cd /; ls; sleep 10 # # The directory listed will be the local working directory, /not/ the # remote root directory. This file is a working example that exhibits # the precise same behaviour. Almost all of the code here has been # pasted and shortened to its essence from App/ClusterSSH.pm (in # /usr/share/perl5 on my system). That makes it slightly longer than # strictly necessary but code here can now easily be matched with code # in the ClusterSSH module. # # Looking at the eval()ed and exec()ed strings below, one can easily see # how appropriate quoting will break the expression in $helper_script. # Eg. trying to protect the inner expression with single quotes, # # cssh [remote_server] -a 'cd /; ls; sleep 10' # # or # # perl cluster_test.pl [remote_server] -a 'cd /; ls; sleep 20' # # will spectacularly fail. On the other hand, an expression like # # perl cluster_test.pl [remote_server] -a \\\cd /; ls; sleep 20\\\ # # works as it transports both backslashes and quotes safely through # two layers of string interpolation (first Perl's, then the shell's). # This translates straightforward into # # cssh [cluster] -a \\\cd /; ls; sleep 10\\\ # # # Proposed Solution: # -- # Naïvely, I'd say substitute $config{command} in $helper_script with # the unwieldy construct # # \\\$config{command}\\\ # # and be done with it. I can see the ATR like you ... http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=664630#50 So the cardreader is working. The problem is that the current moneyplex application does not work with the pcscd 1.8. But there is a beta version of moneyplex available. You can ask the moneyplex suppport to be a beta tester like me :-) This beta version is available in 64 and 32 bit (the old version was only 32 bit) and is working well with pcscd 1.8. The new scheme libudev is supported since 05 Apr 2011 in cjeca32/Platform_unix.cpp line 41. The rsct_platform_create_com function is called during open the reader object. Also the virtual package pcsc-ifd-handler is provided by the debian package (at the moment only in debian unstable) In the future I plan to remove the SPXX suffix in the debian repository which is more or less my development repository. This suffix is important for naming the drivers on the reiner sct website to visualize the patchlevel. You know, debian is not the only one linux distribution (but the number one :-)) If you have more questions feel free to contact me. Package: bash-completion Version: 1:1.99-3 Severity: minor Tags: upstream Hi, Here is an update for Lintian (and lintian-info). New cmd line arguments: --packages-from-file - Lintian only (under package select options) - Accepts a filename or - (for stdin). - Not to be confused with --packages-file (see below). --profile PROFILE - Both lintian and lintian-info support this option, but it is not listed in the completion. - PROFILE be a relative partial file name, such that one of these files exists: * ~/.lintian/profiles/PROFILE.profile * /etc/lintian/profiles/PROFILE.profile * /usr/share/lintian/profiles/PROFILE.profile Deprecated options (lintian only): All of these options do nothing (except possible print a deprecation warning) in current versions of Lintian. There is no reason to use any of them and therefore, probably, no reason to complete them either: -m, --md5sums, --checksums --arch --area --archivedir --dist --section This option is also deprecated, but Lintian still reacts to it (beyond a deprecation warning): --packages-file - Not to be confused with --packages-from-file. Completion suggestions for existing options (Lintian only): -L LEVEL, --display-level LEVEL - This is a difficult option to do completion for, but I suspect the following work rather well and be reasonable. * Strip s/^[-=]*// from LEVEL * If a / is present in LEVEL, complete only C on its right hand side - optionally complete S on its left hand side, but ... mah. * Otherwise complete LEVEL as either S or C. Where C is one of certain, possible and wild-guess. S is one of serious, important, normal, minor, wishlist and pedantic. Bug#666010: ITP: nvidia-texture-tools -- image processing and texture manipulation tools

How come you didn't file an ITP *before* packaging it? That is what ITPs are for. The package is already in collab-maint [1]. And in the new queue for unstable. It was mainly meant to allow to build 0ad. Here [2] is the ITP for 0ad which requires nvidia-texture-tools to continue. I see. Here is a quick review of your packaging: Your library versioning is broken, you should use a Debian-specific SONAME until upstream sets that. Personally I don't think the libs should be public, better to put them in a private dir. 02-multiarch.patch looks like it *does* need forwarding. You might want to run wrap-and-sort -sa so that diffs of the debian/ dir are more readable. IMO libnvtt-bin should be called nvidia-texture-tools. The package version has +dfsg in it but there is no indication of how the upstream tarball was repacked and what was non-free. -- bye, pabs http://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

Bug#666069: network-preseed: Provide hardware information via http when fetching preseed URL?
Version: 1.41 Package: network-preseed Severity: wishlist When creating a enterprise system to automatically install machines using PXE and debian-installer, it would be useful if the network-preseed package would provide some information about the hardware being installed when fetching the preseed file. This could be made optional, to not provide this information if such information leak is unwanted. A similar feature is available in the RedHat/Fedora installer Anaconda, where it is enabled using the kssendmac kernel argument during boot. This causes the installer to include HTTP headers like this when requesting the kickstart file: X-RHN-Provisioning-MAC-0: eth0 00:1A:A0:A0:AC:AC This allow a web service to be set up to serve different kickstart files depending on the MAC address of the client. A limitation with only providing MAC address is that you need to register a machine up front to know if it got LAN console or any other special hardware that need adjustments to the installation setup. I would like d-i to do something similar, but not only provide the MAC address(es). I would also like the output from DMI and the PCI device list. The output from these dmidecode and lspci commands illustrate what I would like to have included in the HTTP request to allow me to use it to adjust the content of the preseed file: dmidecode -s chassis-type dmidecode -s baseboard-manufacturer dmidecode -s baseboard-product-name dmidecode -s baseboard-version dmidecode -s system-manufacturer dmidecode -s system-product-name dmidecode -s system-version lspci -n -- Happy hacking Petter Reinholdtsen -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
Fatima hussein -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#666072: lmbench: Regression with execve() latency test
package: lmbench version: 3.0-a9-1 Bug#496427 introduced a regression in lat_proc benchmark program. /usr/lib/lmbench/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu/lat_proc tries to measure latency of executing /var/tmp/lmbench/hello . However, since path of hello program in /usr/lib/lmbench/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu/lmbench was not updated from /tmp/hello to /var/tmp/lmbench/hello accordingly, lat_proc program tries to execute non-existent hello program. if [ X$BENCHMARK_OS = XYES -o X$BENCHMARK_PROC = XYES ]; then cp hello /tmp/hello for i in fork exec shell do lat_proc -P $SYNC_MAX $i done rm -f /tmp/hello fi As a result, latency reported by /usr/lib/lmbench/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu/lat_proc does not include latency of executing /var/tmp/lmbench/hello . Bug#666073: heimdal: FTBFS on hurd-i386: MAXHOSTNAMELEN Strikes Back
Package: heimdal Version: 1.6~git20120311.dfsg.1-1 Severity: important Tags: patch User: debian-h...@lists.debian.org Usertags: hurd Hi, currently[1], heimdal 1.6~git20120311.dfsg.1 does not compiled on hurd-i386. The problem is a new occurrence of MAXHOSTNAMELEN not covered by patch 041_hurd_maxhostnamelen; the fix (just like the others in that patch) is to use MaxHostNameLen instead, which is always defined. Attached there is a new version of patch 041_hurd_maxhostnamelen, refreshed and with the additional hunk for lib/krb5/principal.c. Bug#666074: TYPO3 Security Bulletin TYPO3-CORE-SA-2012-001: Several Vulnerabilities in TYPO3 Core
Package: typo3-src Severity: critical Tags: security Component Type: TYPO3 Core Affected Versions: 4.4.0 up to 4.4.13, 4.5.0 up to 4.5.13, 4.6.0 up to 4.6.6 and development releases of the 4.7 and 6.0 branch. Vulnerability Types: Cross-Site Scripting, Information Disclosure, Insecure Unserialize Overall Severity: Medium Release Date: March 28, 2012 Vulnerable subcomponent: Extbase Framework Affected Versions: Versions 4.4.x and 4.5.x are NOT affected by this vulnerabilty. Vulnerability Type: Insecure Unserialize Severity: Medium Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N/E:U/RL:OF/RC:C Problem Description: Due to a missing signature (HMAC) for a request argument, an attacker could unserialize arbitrary objects within TYPO3. To our knowledge it is neither possible to inject code through this vulnerability, nor are there exploitable objects within the TYPO3 Core. However, there might be exploitable objects within third party extensions. Vulnerable subcomponent: TYPO3 Backend Vulnerability Type: Cross-Site Scripting Severity: Medium Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:M/Au:S/C:P/I:P/A:N/E:F/RL:OF/RC:C Problem Description: Failing to properly HTML-encode user input in several places, the TYPO3 backend is susceptible to Cross-Site Scripting. A valid backend user is required to exploit these vulnerabilities. IMPORTANT NOTE: With these TYPO3 versions the description field of the filelink content element is HTML encoded by default. If you allowed editors to enter HTML code in this field, you may want to add the following line to your TypoScript template, before updating. tt_content.uploads.20.itemRendering.20.2.htmlSpecialChars = 0 Allowing HTML in this field is discouraged for editors, same as allowing the plain HTML content element. Vulnerable subcomponent: TYPO3 Command Line Interface Vulnerability Type: Information Disclosure Severity: Low Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N/E:F/RL:OF/RC:C Problem Description: Accessing a CLI Script directly with a browser may disclose the database name used for the TYPO3 installation. Vulnerable subcomponent: TYPO3 HTML Sanitizing API Vulnerability Type: Cross-Site Scripting Severity: Medium Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:N/E:F/RL:OF/RC:C Problem Description: By not removing non printable characters, the API method t3lib_div::RemoveXSS() fails to filter specially crafted HTML injections, thus is susceptible to Cross-Site Scripting. -- MfG, Christian Welzel GPG-Key: http://www.camlann.de/de/pgpkey.html Fingerprint: 4F50 19BF 3346 36A6 CFA9 DBDC C268 6D24 70A1 AD15 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
