Bug#709758: Consciously blocking packages and development

2013-09-03 Thread Norbert Preining
Dear maintainers of debian-edu-doc, all of d-d

[short explanation for d-d: debian-edu-doc has a serious bug since it
build-deps on a not existing package. Instead of transiting to the
new pakcage naming, it keeps the old anme hindering transition)

On Do, 15 Aug 2013, Norbert Preining wrote:
thanks for fixing it in git, but could you please upload a fixed version
of the package as soon as possible?

I see that the fix was even reverted in the git repository.

Are you planning to block TeX Live transition for unforeseeable future?
Might I remind you that the packaging is for Debian/sid to go into
testing.

Whatever your ideas and backgrounds concerning Debian Edu are,
your main obligation is *not*to*block*hinder* other packages.

Might I also remind you once more, that the target of development is
*unstable* and *NOT* (!!!) wheezy which is released. Your statement
that it has to be buildable on wheezy is *simply* plain wrong.

It is ridiculous that you not even care for *answering* to
inquiries on a serious bug, although there is a lot of activity
in the git repository (see below for logs).

Thanks for your understanding

Norbert

Bug#715141: apt_all update cronjob creates error mails when testing and unstable are not in the apt sources

But sadly munin-run don't push the extra 7200 and 12 parameters to

Looking closely, that was done specifically like that. But it sounds wrong
to me, and qualifies as a bug. Will be fixed in the next upstream stable
release.

The extra $ARGV will be transparently given to the plugin, as the config
or update is already.

which in turns only has update in it's $ARGV and sees it as an error and
display the helping usage text:

I'm not sure how this could be easily solved.

Well, as it's an upstream issue, it will be solved upstream :)

 Hi Salvatore!

Previous versions are likely to be affected too. I will try to backport
the patches. For version in Jessie and unstable, I will just upload
 0.9.3.

Thanks for your quick reply! From what I see about the vulnerability,
I would say this does not warrant a DSA, as the exploitability seems
to be limited to a user-assisted remote attacker.

Do you agree on that conclusion? If yes I will mark this in the
security-tracker appropriately. Could you address in that case the
updates trough a proposed-update instead?

the mean time, if you’re in a hurry to see your package reach testing,

convenient dummy transitional packages) instead of breaking any third

Apologies about that, it has never been anyone’s intention to ignore

Umpf, uncoordinated disappearance. Might I remind you that
we are talking about build-deps, and that there is *no* rdepends
on texlive-lang-danish. Do you expect to add transitional packages
for *one* (I did not check, maybe 5?) package that needs t-l-d
as build-depends?

I did not break any package, I just created FTBFS for *one* package,
a very common *very* common case here in Debian. (Uh, just recently
several of my packages started to FTBFS due to perl 5.18).

Yes, devs can take there time to consider it, but letting rot away
the bug without answer ...

Anyway, let us hope that your in due time will be at some
reasonable time.

gstreamer runs into an endless loop when reading some files. This e.g. will
cause /usr/lib/rhythmbox/rhythmbox-metadata to generate 100% CPU load without
doing anything when encoutering such files.

Can you check if this also happens with GStreamer 1.0, i.e. when running
gst-discoverer-1.0 from gstreamer1.0-plugins-base-apps after installing
gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad?

Also can you make such a file available for testing?

dh_python{2,3} tags all extensions in dist-packages and in private dirs
it was told to look for Python files. Tagging files in
/usr/lib/multiarch-triplet/ is not a good idea indeed, I will fix it in
next release (probably today). I will also add an option to disable
tagging in private dirs (by default /usr/lib/gedit would still be

Bug#720905: binary compatibility already broken

2013-09-03 Thread Julian Taylor
the binary compatibility was already broken in 3330 and again in 3340 by
changing the fits file struct in a non compatible way (adding members to
the middle of it).

So we already need a transition.
On the other hand even though it is publicly exposed, applications
should not be using that structure directly, so there is probably no
need to rush a transition yet.

Bug#721699: alternatives: Default visual editor not compatible to visual editor (vi)

2013-09-03 Thread Steffen Dettmer
Package: alternatives
File: alternatives
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Tools invoke visual editor (e.g. `reportbug', `crontab -e' or
bash `fc'), but no visual editor key bindings work (for example,
`:q' does not quit). Instead, someone has to press some
non-standard CTRL-X or whatever.

This is caused by a wrong default `alternatives' setting of editor.
Instead of visual editor (vi) some incompatible editor (`nano'?) is
selected by default. Also I think the name is wrong
(/usr/bin/editor instead of /usr/bin/vi).

Using `export EDITOR=vi' or `sudo update-alternatives --config
editor' work around the problem, but has to be done after each
installation on each host. Then tools invoke a visual editor
supporting well-known visual editor key bindings.

Regards,
Steffen Dettmer

ps: I assume this is a duplicate because it is very easy to notice,
but http://bugs-search.debian.org/cgi-bin/search.cgi just reports
Internal Server Error, so I couldn't check.

Bug#310495: any chances to fix the par?

2013-09-03 Thread Jérôme Pouiller

Hi,

To be fair, I wrote patch for unicode support in par 5 years ago. I
know where

are some issues on this patch but I have never had time to fix them.

Although, I wrote a new version of the patch:
  http://sysmic.org/dl/par/par_1.52-i18n.4.patch

I really not sure it would fix all issues, but, it may help.

Bug#721700: lnav: should favor /var/log/syslog over /var/log/messages

2013-09-03 Thread Jonas Smedegaard
Package: lnav
Severity: normal

It seems lnav has no configfile, and internally favor /var/log/messages
over /var/log/syslog.

As I understand it, standard debian configuration of logfile handling
uses /var/log/syslog for most messages, and it therefore makes sense to
me that lnav for Debian gets patched to flip those around.

Seems to be in file src/lnav.cc...

I think you are thinking too much for debian/rules. I have simplified it
 to just:

 %:
 dh $@ --with autotools-dev

The .la file is not installed because it is not listed in
*.install, so no need to remove it. dh_auto_configure already calls
configure with the appropriate arguments for multiarch.

Bug#721704: pnp4nagios-bin: init script exits 0 when it should exit 3 with unconfigured service

2013-09-03 Thread Joerg Jaspert
Package: pnp4nagios-bin
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

the pnp4nagios-bin init script contains the following lines:

# Check if RUN is set to yes in /etc/defaults/npcd
if [ x$RUN != xyes ] ; then
echo $NAME has been disabled in /etc/default/npcd.
exit 0
fi

While its debatable to do this via default/ file, I'm on the side
of yeah, ok. What I dislike is the exit 0. Which is wrong.

The LSB defines values for initscripts to give back,
see

http://refspecs.freestandards.org/LSB_3.1.0/LSB-Core-generic/LSB-Core-generic/iniscrptact.html

and 0 is defined program is running or service is OK.
Which it definitely isn't in the case above.

It defines some more, and the most useful return code in this case seems to be
3, program is not running. Alternatively 4, status unknown, but meh, it is
known
here.

Even if one leaves LSB outside and uses common sense, a 0 doesn't seem to
be right for a default value as delivered by the package.

Bug#588377: dwarf fortress debian package

Hi,

I am indeed still interested in sponsorship for my dwarf-fortress package.
The mentor package - as well as my ITP - have been removed because of
lack of activity (and there were no upstream releases since last
upload) but the sources of the package is available on my GitHub
account [1]. I can re-upload the mentor package if you like.

BTW, I also have a GemRB package that requires sponsorship. I've
recently joined the Debian Games Team to maintain it, but I have
little time to chase sponsors. So, if you have some time to spend and
want to have a look at it, it would be awesome. The sources of the
package are in the pkg-games source repo [2].

Bug#592839: please consider it anyway, even if useless for non-free files

2013-09-03 Thread David Bremner

It is sometimes convenient to keep files deleted in the integration
branch of a version control system even if these files are dfsg free;
most recently I did this to facilitate cherry-picking patches from
upstream of an embedded library (yes, ick, I know). There is no nice
way of representing this in a quilt series; one easily ends up with
enormous patches. Currently I do some shenanigans like

 git diff --diff-filter=D --name-only debian/clean

This works, but the dependence on debhelper to unpack is unsatisfactory.

It would be nice if the audit/auparse support was enabled.

It seems that adding a build-dependency against libauparse-dev should be
enough. Please not that audit is only available on linux architectures.

Cheers

Bug#720955: roundcube-core: fails to upgrade MySQL database (0.7.2-9 - 0.9.2-2)

Hello Vincent,
thanks for your followup.

On 08/31/2013 02:10 PM, Vincent Bernat wrote:

What is the history of your installation?

It was installed a while ago, probably before version 0.7.2-9

Maybe the installation failed with another error and then you retried
and you got this error.

If I recall correctly, the first attempt failed for a wrong password.
But I think that no change was applied to the database then.

After that, it seems that it migrated the database, but failed with the
reported error.

By looking at the dbc.log, it almost seems that the migration was
performed twice:

creating database backup in
/var/cache/dbconfig-common/backups/roundcube_0.7.2-9.mysql.

Unfortunately, when there is an error during
upgrade, there is no rollback done.

This is really unfortunate.

You need to recover from backup or
handle things yourself by applying upgrades by hand. They are in
/usr/share/dbconfig-common/data/roundcube/upgrade/mysql.

I did the following: I re-upgraded to version 0.9.2-2, and re-adapted
the configuration files.

But the database migration was not performed again.
I do not understand why.

After that, roundcube was working, but failed to connect to its database.

By trying to do the database migration manually (one SQL command at a
time), I found that

all changes had already been applied...
Maybe this is why the automatic migration was not attempted?

The only thing I had to fix was reconfiguring the -core package
(dpkg-reconfigure roundcube-core) and re-entering the roundcube MySQL
database

password into /etc/roundcube/debian-db.php
I don't know why the password had been discarded.

After all this, roundcube works again.

Thanks for your help.
I hope the information I provided may help improving the package further.

Bye.

Dear maintainer,

Recently you fixed one or more security problems and as a result you closed
this bug. These problems were not serious enough for a Debian Security
Advisory, so they are now on my radar for fixing in the following suites
through point releases:

squeeze (6.0.8) - use target oldstable

Please prepare a minimal-changes upload targetting each of these suites,
and submit a debdiff to the Release Team [0] for consideration. They will
offer additional guidance or instruct you to upload your package.

I will happily assist you at any stage if the patch is straightforward and
you need help. Please keep me in CC at all times so I can

Thanks, but I'm not sure how valuable this is. If people think it

I don't want to duplicate the version number, because that would
complicate the release process. And I'd rather avoid editing the dgit

Perhaps dgit version should get the information from the first line
of /usr/share/doc/dgit/changelog.gz.

Thanks,

By looking at the dbc.log, it almost seems that the migration was
 performed twice:

Well, that's odd but this is not the first time. See here:

Unfortunately, the problem seems to be still here. Since this seems the
root cause of your problem, I will merge your bug with this one.

Bug#721714: network-manager: requires a tun device for all VPNs, even for IPsec

2013-09-03 Thread Raphael Geissert
Package: network-manager
Version: 0.9.4.0-10
Severity: important
Tags: patch
Affects: network-manager-strongswan

Hi,

NetworkManager started to require a tun device for all VPNs, but there
are no such devices when IPsec is used. This basically breaks
network-manager-strongswan (currently broken due to another bug, but
...).

Attached patch is inspired on the patches from [1] which were
apparently applied to RHEL. I looked at NM upstream's repo and I
didn't see such changes, so I don't know the status for fixing this
bug directly at upstream.

The main difference between the RH patches is that n-m-strongswan is
already telling NM that the interface is none, while the RH patches
add a new define that sets the iface to _none_. In their case it
affects the openswan NM plugin.

Please consider applying the patch, or fixing the bug in another way.
Note that this patch is against wheezy.

Bug#287756: tagging wontfix

2013-09-03 Thread Vincent Lefevre
On 2006-04-09 13:18:22 +0100, Max Bowsher wrote:
Tagging wontfix, with a recommendation to close,

I agree that this bug should be closed, but not for the same reason
as given below.

because the reason 'svn log' defaults to -rBASE:1 when run in a WC
is actually dictated by the underlying structure of the Subversion
 database:

Whilst the Subversion database makes it very easy to trace history
backwards, the same cannot be said for tracing forwards. As a result, we
don't have a good way of saying 'for this URL@BASE, give me the
corresponding object in HEAD' - remember, due to copies/moves, URL@BASE
is not necessarily the same object as URL@HEAD.

Well, -rHEAD:1 is syntactically correct, so that the above explanation
is not a good reason. In most cases, -rHEAD:1 would be fine and would
be more useful than -rBASE:1 (IMHO), and it would fail in rare cases.
A possible failure is not a good reason to reject any parameter as
being the default.

The choice of -rBASE:1 deliberately accepts that we may not be showing
as much log as might be expected, in order to ensure that we never show
logs for some other incorrect object that happens to have taken the
place of the WC's URL in HEAD.

Showing incorrect logs would obviously be a bug, since it would be one
with an explicit -rHEAD:1. But by doing something like

ypig:~tmp/wc1 svn mv dir1 dir2
ypig:~tmp/wc1 svn mkdir dir1
ypig:~tmp/wc1 echo foo dir1/file1
ypig:~tmp/wc1 svn add dir1/file1
ypig:~tmp/wc1 svn ci

in one working copy, and in another one, not yet updated:

ypig:~tmp/wc2/dir1 svn log -rHEAD:1
svn: E195012: Unable to find repository location for
'/home/vlefevre/tmp/wc2/dir1' in revision 3

I get an error, not incorrect logs, as documented in the Subversion
book:

  The Peg Revision Algorithm
  [...]
But what if OPERATIVE-REV is younger than PEG-REV?
  [...]
Verify that the object's location (path-wise) in PEG-REV is the same
as it is in OPERATIVE-REV. If that's the case, at least the two
locations are known to be directly related, so perform the requested
action on the location in OPERATIVE-REV. Otherwise, relatedness was
not established, so error out with a loud complaint that no viable
  ^^^
location was found. (Someday, we expect that Subversion will be able
to handle this usage scenario with more flexibility and grace.)

Note that a svn up leads to an obsolete current directory,
which is even worse:

ypig:~tmp/wc2/dir1 svn up
Updating '.':
D.
A.
Afile1
Updated to revision 3.
ypig:~tmp/wc2/dir1 pwd
/home/vlefevre/tmp/wc2/dir1
ypig:~tmp/wc2/dir1 ll
total 0
ypig:~tmp/wc2/dir1 ll ..
total 4
drwxr-xr-x 2 vlefevre vlefevre 4096 2013-09-03 14:25:10 dir1/
ypig:~tmp/wc2/dir1 ll ../dir1
total 4
-rw-r--r-- 1 vlefevre vlefevre 4 2013-09-03 14:25:10 file1

Now, to come back to svn log, I think that -rBASE:1 should be
the default for consistency with other commands, which apply to
BASE by default. Anyone can write a shell alias or a wrapper for
svn log -rHEAD:1 to respond to the initial complaint: It's
kind of annoying to have to manually specify every file in my
repository when I want to skim a complete log.

Note: the wrapper could also do other useful things, such as piping
the output to a pager if standard output is connected to a terminal
(just like what git does).

Bug#721716: texlive-fonts-recommended: why Depends: ttf-marvosym ?

2013-09-03 Thread Fabian Greffrath
Package: texlive-fonts-recommended
Version: 2012.20120611-5

Hi,

I wonder why the texlive-fonts-recommended package pulls in ttf-marvosym? I
mean, sure, there is a symlink in /usr/share/texlive/texmf-
dist/fonts/truetype/public/marvosym/marvosym.ttf that would be dangling if this
package wasn't installed. But, seriously, I doubt that LaTeX really uses the
Truetype variant when the Type 1 variant of that font is available in
/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/public/marvosym/marvosym.pfb.

Bug#710140: gpgme1.0 dropped libgpgme-pth (was: Any progress?)

2013-09-03 Thread Daniel Leidert
please try to CC 710...@bugs.debian.org in your response

Am Sonntag, den 25.08.2013, 12:19 +0200 schrieb Francesco Poli:

is anyone working on bug #710140 ?
 Is there any progress?

Well, there was only libgpgme++2 affected by this upstream change and
this package has seen two uploads since its own dropping of libgpgme
++-pth.so.2, which was the only binary/library linking to libgpgme-pth
inside Debian. I haven't seen any report [1], that there is still an
affected package(?).

Could you please clarify the status of the bug?
 Thanks for your time!

CCing release.d.o.

Here is what upstream said about this change:

Remove support for libgpgme-pth. As far as we know, this was never
used, and GnuPG is going to use our own npth in the future. [2]

Inside Debian I didn't find any reference to the usage of libgpgme-pth
except for libgpgme++2, which provided the libgpgme++-pth.so.2 wrapper
library, which itself wasn't used by any other Debian package (AFAIK).

I'm hereby asking the release team how to proceed? The issue itself
seems to have been fixed inside Debian by fixing libgpgme++2, which has
already been done [3]. There might be third-party software out there
using libgpgme-pth.so or libgpgme++-pth.so. However, I don't know about
it; upstream doesn't know about it either (that's why they dropped it I
guess) and I haven't seen any comment on this change neither on the
gnupg list nor inside #710140 nor for libgpgme++2.

I see two ways: (a) start a proper transition; (b) stay with the current
solution and wait if someone reports an issue with it. Note, that the
affected gpgme version has already hit testing (the issue was discovered
late).

Description: Binary data

Bug#721720: -floop-parallelize-all misleadingly accepted

2013-09-03 Thread Zefram
Package: gcc-4.7
Version: 4.7.2-5
Severity: normal

There's a funny arrangement for gcc's -floop-parallelize-all option
(and it looks like some related options too) where it's always accepted,
but the optimisation mechanism that it controls depends on an optional
library package being installed. This turns out to make it difficult
to detect whether the optimisation is really available.

I've run into this with building libmemcached from source. I'm doing
this independent of the Debian libmemcached package, actually as part of
the Perl module Memcached::libmemcached, which I'm building from CPAN on
a non-system Perl. The gcc in question is targeting x86_64-linux-gnu.
The library has an autoconf configure script. I can simulate the relevant
test this way:

$ cat t.c
int main()
{
  return 0;
}
$ gcc-4.7 -O2 -floop-parallelize-all -c t.c  echo OK
OK

As the option is accepted, it's used in compilation of the library code.
Compilation of a couple of the modules then fails. I can demonstrate
this with an eviscerated version of the library's CRC32 code:

$ cat c.c
static const int crc32tab[256] = {};
int c(const char *key, int key_length)
{
  int x;
  int crc= ~0;
  for (x= 0; x  key_length; x++)
 crc= (crc  8) ^ crc32tab[(crc ^ key[x])  0xff];
  return ((~crc)  16)  0x7fff;
}
$ gcc-4.7 -O2 -floop-parallelize-all -c c.c  echo OK
c.c: In function 'c':
c.c:2:5: sorry, unimplemented: Graphite loop optimizations can only be used if
the libcloog-ppl0 package is installed

I've advised the Perl module maintainer that the configure
test ought to include some complex loop code in order to
properly trigger failure. Bug report for that module is at
https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=88378.

But I think that this problem should be addressed in the Debian gcc.
The simple configure test *should* work. There's a practical problem in
determining what complexity of code is required for the test; this is
liable to vary between gcc versions and between target architectures.
In principle, I think it's wrong for gcc to accept an option when its
only effect will be to later break compilation. The option should be
rejected up front if its implementation is not available.

2013-09-03 Thread Osamu Aoki
Hi,

Unfortunately for the past couple years I neither have time or the
hardware to do Debian packagin management. So please feel free to
take over and remove me from the maintainer list.

I see.

(Did you send resignation to debian-private if you were DD? I think
that is most cleanest thing to do.)

Thanks for the help in the past and good luck!

Thank you to you.

Bug#721719: icedove: Usability needs improvement regarding disabling gpg-signing messages temporarily

2013-09-03 Thread Andreas Glaeser
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: icedove
Version: 17.0.8-1~deb7u1
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

*** End of the template - remove these lines ***

When I want to send unsigned mail for special occasions or because it is
technically
necessary to temporarily disable signing of messages, it is too complicated.
In the account-settings I have 'sign unencrypted messages by default' checked
and also
'sign encrypted messages by default'. But these defaults do not show as checked
checkboxes in the compose-window. So it is not possible to temporarily disable
signing
for one message. One has to go to account-settings instead, disable
signing-by-default,
then compose the message, send it, and reenable the option again in the
account-settings
afterwards in order to go on signing messages by default.
When these defaults are set in the account-settings, they should be set in the
options-menu of the compose-window as well accordingly, so they can easily be
disabled
temporarily, without having to tamper with defaults in the account-settings.

This bug was only closed due to removal of kfreebsd-8 from sid. Maybe
this report was generated in error because affected versions were not
properly tagged?

No fix is available. I'd like to keep the security issues 'open' until
someday a mitigation might be introduced in the upstream development
head which could be backported.

Hopefully the note on the PTS about these open issues, the bug in the
BTS, and security tracker data (e.g. via debsecan) are enough to advise
users of these two CVEs. The issues are DoS-only and IMHO low severity
for most environments.

That said, there are some other outstanding security bugs in kfreebsd-8
we may want to address in a point release...

It is not possible to lock the screen, when gonme-shell is in activities-mode.
I am a bit usure, whether this is actually a feature, or if this has a certain
purpose.
But I do not fully understand, why it is necessary to leave the activities-mode
first in
order to be able to lock the screen with CTRL-L.

It is *probably* more useful to directly contact the developers on [1] with as
much detail about your configuration as possible, but if that's not an option
 I
 can play man-in-the-middle for this.

Changing from fullscreen to windowed mode didn't appear to make any
difference, also to do that I had to edit the config file (Windowed
variable).

In any case, I've tracked this down, and the attached patch works for
me, at least for the XRandR issue (the game starts again), as I'm not
seeing any segfaults on startup.

I've tried to preserve the coding style of the overall file, not just
that function (re spaces after keywords), as it's not entirely
consistent.

Thanks,
Guillem

Bug#721722: gnome-shell: locking the screen is impossible in activities-mode

It is not possible to lock the screen, when gonme-shell is in
 activities-mode.
I am a bit usure, whether this is actually a feature, or if this has a
 certain purpose.
But I do not fully understand, why it is necessary to leave the
 activities-mode first in
order to be able to lock the screen with CTRL-L.

This commit was part of the 3.3 release ...

Bug#721367: ctpp2: FTBFS on non-Linux: CTPP2SysTypes.h not configured

2013-09-03 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Vasudev Kamath kamathvasu...@gmail.com writes:

Is it normal to segfault? Asking because package exists on kFreeBSD's

Of course not; I just haven't had time to report that bug yet.

Yes Indeed. I will include this in next version of d-shlibs and for
the time being I will introduce this same override in rules file of
ctpp2 so we won't have any problem and once d-shlibs is in we can drop
 this.

Great, thanks! Meanwhile, I've noticed that d-shlibs doesn't actually
depend on apt; please declare the dependency, as apt isn't officially
(build-)essential or Priority: required, just Priority: important.

Bug#668505: dwarf fortress debian package

2013-09-03 Thread Scott Howard
On Tue, Sep 3, 2013 at 5:45 AM, Beren Minor
beren.minor+deb...@gmail.com wrote:
BTW, I also have a GemRB package that requires sponsorship. I've
recently joined the Debian Games Team to maintain it, but I have
little time to chase sponsors. So, if you have some time to spend and
want to have a look at it, it would be awesome. The sources of the
package are in the pkg-games source repo [2].
 [2] http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-games/gemrb.git;a=summary

Thanks for your work, here are some comments:

1) Changelog is confusing, there are multiple entries claiming upload
to unstable that has never been uploaded. The ITP bug is closed very
low on the list. Also, this is labeled as 0.8.0-3, but this is the
first upload to Debian. For the sake of clarity in the Debian archive,
I think you should reduce the debian/changelog to a single entry:
0.8.0-1, First packaging for Debian (Closes: #658887). (or close
which ever of the ITP bugs you want to close)

2) It appears that several of the packages depends on non-free data,
but it also appears that the engine can run free content. Is the
package usable without any content, or does it depend on non-free
content? (i.e., if a user downloads the package, will they be able to
do something with it out of the box)? I'm trying to see if this
should be in main or contrib. Looking at the upstream website, it
appears that the package should be contrib.

3) Lintian report:
I: gemrb: desktop-entry-lacks-keywords-entry
usr/share/applications/gemrb.desktop
I: libgemrb: hardening-no-fortify-functions usr/lib/gemrb/plugins/2DAImporter.so
I: libgemrb: hardening-no-fortify-functions usr/lib/gemrb/plugins/BAMImporter.so
I: libgemrb: hardening-no-fortify-functions usr/lib/gemrb/plugins/CREImporter.so
W: libgemrb: postinst-has-useless-call-to-ldconfig
W: libgemrb: postrm-has-useless-call-to-ldconfig

the first 4 are minor and can be fixed if you'd like to whenever you
get a chance.

The last two should be overridden for being a bug in debhelper.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=205142

4) the debian/control VCS-Git and VCS don't match the one you gave me
(http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-games/gemrb.git;a=summary)

5) I was a little uneasy about the vvc files, they are binary blobs so
I was worried about where they came from (copyright and license), but
I found:
http://gemrb.org/iesdp/file_formats/ie_formats/vvc_v1.htm
I think it is ok, they seem to be from gemrb and not taken from
closed-source game content. You don't need to do anything about them.

Cheers,
Scott

The problem here appears to be that transmission is treating a TLS
warning alert as fatal, even if it is not.

the warning is that the remote server claimed to not know the
SNI-provided name used upon connection:

0 dkg@alice:~$ gnutls-cli tracker2.tvtorrents.com

I'm reassigning this bug the transmission package, which needs to handle
non-fatal alerts more cleanly. If you think this is inappropriate, feel
free to reassign back to gnutls with more explanation.

First question:
Why

this package has never been released to Debian. Since you are building
gsfonts which is currently at 1:8.11 would
1:20130628-1
not suffice? (Or what am I missing?)

Otherwise it looks fine for me and I will upload it.

Bug#721728: linphone: Black video window (but video actually works)

2013-09-03 Thread Manu Benoît
Package: linphone
Version: 3.6.1-2
Severity: normal

Hello,

Since Linphone got updated to 2.6.1 I've been experiencing a problem
with the video part of the software.

It will only display a black video window, all the time, without even
the self-view. I know that video capture actually works, because I can
be seen on the other end of the call. I also know that I receive a video
stream from the other end. This would appear to be a purely
display-related problem.

Here's the log from the video display initialisation code:

Bug#668505: dwarf fortress debian package

2013-09-03 Thread Beren Minor
On Tue, Sep 3, 2013 at 4:13 PM, Scott Howard showard...@gmail.com wrote:
 1) Changelog is confusing, there are multiple entries claiming upload
to unstable that has never been uploaded. The ITP bug is closed very
low on the list. Also, this is labeled as 0.8.0-3, but this is the
first upload to Debian. For the sake of clarity in the Debian archive,
I think you should reduce the debian/changelog to a single entry:
0.8.0-1, First packaging for Debian (Closes: #658887). (or close
which ever of the ITP bugs you want to close)

I think that for some reasons I had to put unstable, but I'm not
sure what the correct value is for a new package (NEW or UNRELEASED
?).
As I was maintaining the package for a while, I made multiple releases
to mentors.debian.net, and I think it was expecting increasing version
numbers or something like that.

I will restart the ChangeLog from scratch anyway.

There is a small demo game, but I don't even know if it is playable. I
would say that contrib is sensible.

 3) Lintian report:
 I: gemrb: desktop-entry-lacks-keywords-entry
 usr/share/applications/gemrb.desktop
 I: libgemrb: hardening-no-fortify-functions
 usr/lib/gemrb/plugins/2DAImporter.so
 I: libgemrb: hardening-no-fortify-functions
 usr/lib/gemrb/plugins/BAMImporter.so
 I: libgemrb: hardening-no-fortify-functions
 usr/lib/gemrb/plugins/CREImporter.so
 W: libgemrb: postinst-has-useless-call-to-ldconfig
 W: libgemrb: postrm-has-useless-call-to-ldconfig

the first 4 are minor and can be fixed if you'd like to whenever you
 get a chance.

I will.

The last two should be overridden for being a bug in debhelper.
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=205142

That's what I thought, I will add the override.

 4) the debian/control VCS-Git and VCS don't match the one you gave me
 (http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-games/gemrb.git;a=summary)

Noted.

I don't think that the package provide anything non-free. For the
files in the demo folder, there seem to be mostly GPL and coming from
GemRB exclusively.
However I have seen that some of them are not clearly licensed. We can
drop this part of the package if this is an issue, as they are not
very useful, except as a starting point for game developpers.

Cheers,

Bug#721713: qemu-system-x86: Qemu 1.6 fail to start with all xen hvm domUs

With qemu 1.6 all xen hvm domUs not starts, this temporary patch need to be
 applied to fix that:
 http://lists.xen.org/archives/html/xen-devel/2013-08/msg01761.html

This isn't really sufficient, see the same thread a few mails down:

http://lists.xen.org/archives/html/xen-devel/2013-08/msg02865.html

It might be possible to use this patch temporarily indeed, but I'd
rather have a real solution here instead of a band-aid.
Unfortunately upstream has been quiet in this area since that
thread.

Thanks,

Ok, makes sense.

Great, thanks! Are you going to add yourself to Uploaders?

Not necessarily for now. I just sponsor it if you are fine with that.

 e.g. /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/fonts/map/dvips/helvetic/uhv.map
explicitely mentions the font name NimbusSanL-Regu. However, this has
slightly changed in fonts-urw-base35. Is this something that needs to be
 patched in texlive?

By now we are shipping the URW fonts in TeX Live without links
(/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/urw/)

Is the coverage of the new gsfonts/fonts-urw as wide as the coverage
of the fonts currently in TeX Live? Or, in other words, is it a
complete replacement?

IN this case I can arrange that in the next upload of TeX Live packages
we do *not* ship the fonts, but dpend on fonts-urw* and link to the
files.

Bug#721729: openssh-client: Mathematical error in man 5 moduli

2013-09-03 Thread Nahuel Iglesias
Package: openssh-client
Version: 1:6.0p1-4
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

Please excuse my english - I read a lot of English everyday but rarely
have the opportunity to write in it.

I've seen that in man 5 moduli, the DESCRIPTION section has an error
in describing the Sophie Germain prime numbers type.

It says:
4 Sophie Germain; (p+1)*2 is also prime.

Where it should say:
4 Sophie Germain; 2p+1 is also prime.

The manual page footer says:
BSDAugust 29, 2013

And I've seen that this description is correct at least on BSD's man
pages web site:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi-bin/man.cgi?query=moduli

Please note that on this website the date on the man page's footer is
July 19, 2012.

I know that this is a very, very minor documentation bug but I'd like
to see it solved.

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

Nahuel

JFYI:
When using a generic dracut initrd, you have to add the resume=

A fix for this problem will we included in the next dracut version (033).
