Yes, suihkulokki pointed this out previously.
I requested removal of the armel binaries in bug #820713, and that

You can check the following packages, starting from top:
golang-github-aws-aws-sdk-go
docker-swarm
influxdb

Yes. I bisected the buggy behavior to this commit in the upstream vte
repository:
commit 3696348c0b9c7d60caf7302411ec4c0298f56e57

please remind me if you don't hear from me withing a week? thanks)

Dear Maintainer,
There is a bug in Perl 5.8.9 (at least) that causes regular
expressions an malformed UTF8 inputs to go into a forever loop and

Hello Ben,
thanks for your update. There are only a few things left before we can
upload the package. My main concern is the adventure-common binary
package because I don't believe that shipping advent.dat with an extra
package is very useful at the moment. As a compromise I offer you help

This could be caused by #778462

A-Ha!
The problem seems to be connected to the Raleigh theme (xfce default?),
as with Adwaita text selection is indeed white on blue ground. Funny
that this problem only occurs with evince, text selection in any other
program (qt5 / gtk) works fine.
