I was sad to discover that ldc and all its dependencies were removed from

For example the first line is:

Not sure how this got in there, but is does not belong there.

Still, on latest Debian testing "stretch" with default GNOME desktop
it does not work. Not only with this example - any metafont program
displays empty window. Interesting observation: if I say, for example,
"mf cmr10", then I can see the pictures (they are displayed in fast
succession). FWIW, attached is the screenshot of the empty window.

I believe that the postinst does the best it can at getting the FQDN into
main.cf -- this doesn't do much for the upgrade path though.

I agree with upstream that postfix should not be calling gethostbyname
at runtime -- if this is happening in a fresh install, then I'm interested
in the configuration of the host that led to this, so that we can make that
path work better.

Bug#863116: libtgvoip: FTBFS on non-Linux: #error "Unsupported operating system"

2017-05-21 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: libtgvoip
Version: 0.4.1~git20170517.2ed5a50-1
Severity: important
Tags: upstream
Justification: fails to build from source

Builds of libtgvoip for kfreebsd-* have been failing:

  /«PKGBUILDDIR»/audio/AudioInput.cpp:27:2: error: #error "Unsupported
operating system"

Builds for hurd-i386 fail earlier, due to gyp bug #799356, but it
looks like they would otherwise hit the same error. Ideally, the
build system would actually check for the availability of libasound
and libpulse. For the time being, though, it should suffice to treat
kFreeBSD (__FreeBSD_kernel__ && __GLIBC__) and the Hurd (__gnu_hurd__)
the same as (non-Android) Linux.

Could you please take a look?

Thanks!

Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi,

libgconf2-4 is a transitional package which we'd like to get rid of.
gmotionlive is the only remaining rdep as it hasn't been uploaded since
2012. Rebuilding gmotionlive will drop the dependency on libgconf2-4
and the package will get a proper dependency on libgconf-2-4 instead.

Thanks,
Michael

Both lxsession and policykit-1-gnome granted expected

The failure has an auth.log entry "Operator of unix-session:1 FAILED to

Remove the space, this is the source of your problems.

Looking at the manpage, it is actually documented behaviour.

Yep. I can reproduce that. And I don't think it qualifies as an RC bug,
it is easily worked around.

I guess this should only be logged in debug mode.

Bug#863110: openvpn: VPN remains connected, but network is unreachable after 30-45 min and requires reconnect

2017-05-21 Thread Prescott
Package: openvpn
Version: 2.4.0-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After the upgrade to openvpn 2.4.0-5 (from *-4), an issue has been
occuring where after having been connected to the VPN for an
approximate amount of time of around 30-45 minutes, the network
connection will drop. NetworkManager continues to state that the VPN
is currently active, but no network is reachable. The only way to
restart the VPN network is to bring the connection up again.

As stated before, I am using openvpn through NetworkManger, and use
nmcli with a configured VPN config file and a separate password file from a
paid service I
   subscribe to.

Indeed, it was compressed by dh_compress. I need to add an exclusion

All packages ship AGPL file, but indeed the reference is to the
pulseaudio package directory. Will fix.

`grep usr/share/doc /usr/share/doc/*/copyright` in my system lists
several files making references to copyright in other files. Policy
might need to be updated.

Bug#863061: reprepro fails to generate contents file "Error decompressing gz data: incorrect header check -3".

2017-05-21 Thread peter green

Tags 863061 +patch
Thanks

After some more hacking I got a fix that works. It seems that the "ar" code
doesn't support reading a member more than once, so it is necessary to retry the whole
process in uncompressed mode rather than just retrying reading the data member.

Debdiff attatched, no intent to NMU.

I am afraid the behaviour of that command is not what you meant. You
shell was looking for egrep at your modified path, it was not even able
to read egrep's content. Try this:

PATH=/usr/local grep a /etc/*
zsh: command not found: grep
PATH=/usr/local /usr/bin/which grep
(empty)

Or even:

PATH=/usr/local ls
zsh: command not found: ls

Note also that the use of egrep, fgrep and rgrep variants is deprecated.
You should use -E, -F or -r instead.

Cheers,

Santiago

P.S. I will close this bug "soon" unless you are able to argue why it is
actually a bug.

Bug#861908: gsequencer: testsuite crashes if AddressSanitizer is enabled

2017-05-21 Thread Joël Krähemann
Hi

Just figured out that are mainly issues related
to memory leakes within the test that can be
safely ignored.

Note I have fixed additional issues with this
test:

http://git.savannah.nongnu.org/cgit/gsequencer.git/commit/?h=0.8.x=78e7b1877add068e59b18b13e2e3b4e245e0b3d3

Bug#863008: failing to load previously-loaded pages of some websites

2017-05-21 Thread Zefram
Thomas Dickey wrote:
>Also, steps to reproduce the problem.

OK, can provide that straight away. For this recipe, there should be
no ~/.lynxrc in place. First, at the command line:

$ echo 'https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page;>Wikipedia'
>x0.html
$ lynx -cookies x0.html

Lynx fires up, displaying the rendered x0.html page, containing only
the single "Wikipedia" hyperlink. Press . In response Lynx
displays the Wikipedia front page. Press "u". In response Lynx returns
to displaying the rendered x0.html page. Press . At this point,
correct behaviour would be to display the Wikipedia front page. Observed
incorrect behaviour is that there is some brief status line activity
but when it's over the rendered x0.html page continues to be displayed.

The state of the -cookies option doesn't affect the bug; using the
option in the above recipe just simplifies the interaction. Likewise,
~/.lynxrc configuration is irrelevant as far as I've explored; having
no such config file is just a conveniently-reproducible reference point.

Varying the link target shows correct behaviour for some websites and
incorrect for others. For example, correct behaviour is observed if
the link is to .

strace can show some of what's going on. The first time the link is
selected, Lynx forks off a short-lived process that apparently handles the
DNS lookup, then opens an IPv6/TCP connection to en.wikipedia.org:443
and performs some network I/O, with commentary in the status line.
After commenting "HTTP/1.1 200 OK" it opens a temporary .html.gz file, and
from there on while continuing to read from the network it writes to the
temporary file. It closes the network connection and the temporary file.
It then reopens the file read-only, reads part of it, and closes it again.
It then reopens the file read-only again, reads all of it while rendering
to the screen, and then closes the file again.

Upon "u", Lynx changes the display back to the rendered x0.html page
without any network or file action.

The second time the link is selected, Lynx initially proceeds as it
did the first time: short-lived DNS process, open IPv6/TCP connection,
network I/O with status-line commentary up to "HTTP/1.1 200 OK".
But it does not open any temporary file. It reads the bulk of the
network response without strace showing any evidence of where the
data is going. It comments "Data transfer complete" (as it did at
this point the first time), but then immediately comments "Getting
file://localhost/[...]/x0.html". Without actually referring to any file,
it rewrites the display of the rendered x0.html file, and then rewrites
the status line back to its normal state. It then rewrites the rendered
display again with different colouration, and finally waits for input.

Have you checked hardware failure? Did you reinstall perl to be safe
side?

Like compiling kernel in C code? debsign and uscan are perl code. Any
of these regex tends to eat more memory but strange

Why don't you create a new account with minimal customization and bash
as login under a real machine. Let"s not complicate matter with lxc.
Do you still suffer?

Bug#863109: iannix: FTBFS on armel and armhf: mixes double and qreal

2017-05-21 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: iannix
Version: 0.9.17~dfsg0-1
Severity: important
Justification: fails to build from source

Builds of iannix for armel and armhf have been failing due to
incorrectly assuming qreal to be equivalent to double; for historical
reasons, it is instead float on both of those architectures. For more
details, please see the logs:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=iannix=armel=0.9.17~dfsg0-1=1495369545=0
https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=iannix=armhf=0.9.17~dfsg0-1=1495369249=0

Could you please take a look?

Thanks!

Then I have to admit to being stumped right now. I honestly find it very
difficult to believe that there's a generic issue of this kind affecting
debsign or uscan that no-one has yet reported in the more than two
months since the last upload.

That's kind of where I'm stuck. I last updated the packaging against
1.22. Ran though lintian and made some updates.

https://github.com/crosstool-ng/crosstool-ng/pull/352

The crosstool-ng maintainer and I had some questions about what
dependencies need spelling out explicitly.

I also wanted to know how seriously to treat some lintian warnings. In
particular because much of ct-ng is shell scripts lintian thinks it
should be a noarch package but it also uses kconfig which must be
compiled for a specific architecture.

What I really wanted was some feedback as to where to go next.

https://lists.debian.org/debian-wnpp/2016/02/msg00895.html

I think I need to at least update my PR against the latest released
version (although technically the packaging can live outside of
crosstool-ng proper).

Bug#861908: gsequencer: testsuite crashes if AddressSanitizer is enabled

2017-05-21 Thread Joël Krähemann
Hi

the stack-trace above should be fixed commit:

http://git.savannah.nongnu.org/cgit/gsequencer.git/commit/?h=0.8.x=d6a5a226fa01525bbcce3824dfb5f7e82767eb62

Since I didn't test with address sanitizer this wasn't recognized.
I just do run it now. Might be there other issues.

Bests,
Joël

3.1.4-7 is now in unstable. New testing to unstable diff attached. I think
it's good to go now.

Revised unblock is:

I am happy to hear you like this feature. To be precise, you need
tailing @:

guitarix2@ANY_VERSION@@ARCHIVE_EXT@

But I intentionally made these to be a bit conservative grep.
  @ANY_VERSION@ doesn't match -v23
@ARCHIVE_EXT@ doesn't match tgz or tgx
So far only one bug report requesting tgz. I may consider adding it
after careful regression check in buster.

At least ? Actual target file can be matched as above :-)

Seems that it isn't only present on uscan: while running debsign I get a
segmentation fault.

I've carried out heavy tasks on the machine (compiling, etc), and apart from this
everything looks fine.

I was able to reproduce it again on my workstation configuration deployed
into a fresh lxc container (using https://github.com/viccuad/salt-configs).
There, uscan consumes all the cpu until it gets killed by zsh, and debsign
the same.

Well, that's a slipped leftover from the last maintainer. Thanks for the catch.

Using your d/watch I get the same behavior, both in my machine and the lxc
workstation.

fixed 818845 1.5-11
thanks

On version 1.5-11 we removed the integration with the vlan package, so this
bug doesn't happen anymore.

On version 1.5-12 we added native support for vlans so that compatibility
with old vlan based bridges won't break.

Regards.

Bug#861249: FTBFS: math_test.Vector2TypeTest.test_cross fails

2017-05-21 Thread Edmund Grimley Evans
On arm64 and at least one other architecture, the error says:

-3.2862601528904633e-16 != 0

It looks as though the test is computing (1.2 * 3.4 - 3.4 * 1.2).

Now, the log to base 2 of (1.2 * 3.4) divided by 3.286e-16 is about
53.5. There are 52 bits in the mantissa of a 64-bit float, or 53
including the implicit "1". So I would guess that the error comes from
multiply and subtract being combined into a single operation, so that
the error in computing 1.2 * 3.4 is revealed.

If this is a real problem, perhaps "cross" could be implemented in a
way that prevents multiply-subtract from being used. If it is not a
real problem, then the test should be made less sensitive, perhaps by
requiring the absolute value of the result to be less than 1e-12 or
some other arbitrary epsilon.

THanks. I have prepared an upload and requested an exception from the Release

 - It will say "Paused"
 - Unpause the game via the keyboard shortcut
 - The quadrapassel will backtrace approximately one second later.

btw, recentish uscan has support for subst patterns, which would reduce

This installer project causes downloaded from the official Mojang server to get

Minecraft (https://minecraft.net) is game about placing blocks to build

At first, people built structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, but as
the game grew players worked together to create wonderful, imaginative things.

Bug#863103: An other plugin affected: proc

2017-05-21 Thread Benoît-Pierre DEMAINE
The proc plugin also seems to be affected the same way.

I can not be 100% certain for complicated reason: Munin does not show me
any line for proc[perl], but according to min-max-avg values reported in
daily, weekly, monthly and yearly images ... I think this plugin is
affected the same way.

But, the source code of proc plugin does not mention any call to pgrep.

What I know for sure is that, the proc plugin works almost fine for all
other process names (ssh, apache ...) for I don't have any line for perl;
and all images have max=0 on monthly, but non null max for yearly ... like
for ps_perl.

Except ps_perl shows me a colored line around january, but proc[perl] does
not.

I've been unable to reproduce this using either jessie or sid's uscan
(running on a jessie host, admittedly). I'd be interested if anyone else
can reproduce this or if there's anything unusual about the machine.

On a side note, looking at the watchfile:

(?:|.*/)guitarix2(?:[_\-]v?|)(\d[^\s/]*)\.(?:tar\.xz|txz|tar\.bz2|tbz2|tar\.gz|tgz)

The parenthesised groups are "either nothing, or zero or more characters
followed by a slash", "either nothing, or [one of underscore, backslash
or hyphen, possibly followed by v]", "a digit possibly followed by any
number of characters that aren't whitespace or a slash", and then an
extension.

It seems very unlikely to me that those are actually the things you want
to be matching - if you're trying to make the matching optional, then
"(foo)?" would be far more idiomatic an obvious than "(foo|)" or "(|
foo)", and the chances that there'll be a literal backslash in the URL
are quite small.

Is there any particular reason you're not using something simpler, along
the lines suggested by the manpage? This gives the expected result for
me:

version=3
http://sf.net/guitarix/
guitarix2(?:[_-]v?)?(\d.*)\.(?:tar\.xz|txz|tar\.bz2|tbz2|tar\.gz|tgz)

This is what I was trying to do from the beginning. I packaged some
libjs-* packages last year, but not all of them. Also, I was following
upstream and noticed that the they add extra dependencies/bump versions
of existing dependencies indiscriminately, which is not very good for
us. I was trying to talk with upstream and come up with a saner
approach for this, but got sidetracked.

After a while, I was starting to wonder whether it would make sense to
follow this approach. I noticed that packaging all the JS deps would
take a long time (at the time we didn't have Grunt packaged for Debian).

Anyway, I believe it may be possible to pursue the first option now that
Grunt is available.

Bug#863104: pbuilder: Please have PS1 inside chroots indicate that

2017-05-21 Thread Daniel Shahaf
Package: pbuilder
Version: 0.215+nmu3

Dear Maintainer,

When using 'pbuilder --login' to enter a chroot, the shell's prompt does not
indicate that it's inside a chroot:

[[[
root@tarpaulin:/mnt/tmp# sudo pbuilder --login --save-after-exec --basetgz
/mnt/tmp/sid2.tgz

Now, one can deduce that one is in a chroot:
[[[

… but it would be easier to have the default prompt be different from the
prompt outside the chroot.

Perhaps that could be done by setting ${debian_chroot} or /etc/debian_chroot,
which /etc/bash.bashrc already check for. The value could be a fixed string
"pbuilder", or the basetgz's basename (sic), or…

Bug#863008: failing to load previously-loaded pages of some websites

2017-05-21 Thread Zefram
Thomas Dickey wrote:
>This report doesn't indicate a version where Lynx behaves as you expect.

Strangely, this misbehaviour doesn't seem to have arrived with a specific
Lynx version, but developed over time. I'm sure that the present version
worked fine on these websites when it was first installed here a year and
a half ago. It was definitely working for
two weeks ago, for which it's not working now. Presumably this version
always had the bug, but it's being triggered by some unusual environmental
condition that has changed over time. So I never noticed this bug with
the previously-installed Lynx version, whatever that was, but I don't
see any reason to think that that version actually lacked the bug.

If you can't reproduce the problem, I could have a go at compiling a
bunch of Lynx versions from source to see which ones do this.

>This sounds like the longstanding Lynx behavior: it doesn't automatically
>reload a page which has been read and is cached locally.

I'm not sure quite what behaviour you mean there. Maybe I've failed
to explain the bug clearly enough. The bug I'm reporting is not mere
caching behaviour: it's not a cache operating correctly, nor is it merely
a matter of a cache serving up stale information.

In the past I have observed that, when invoking loading of a
recently-loaded page (as is the situation in the bug report), Lynx
will show the requested page from cache. That is, it shows the page
instantly rather than making a network request for it, and if the page
is volatile then the version that it shows may be the previously-loaded
version rather than current. This behaviour is totally fine, and is not
what the bug report is about. (Incidentally, trying it now, I'm seeing
this caching behaviour from "u" commands popping the history stack,
but not from repeated selection of ordinary links. Don't know whether
this is normal or not.)

In the situation of the bug report, other than it being specific to some
websites, the condition for the bug to manifest does look a lot like the
condition for Lynx to serve a page from the cache. But the behaviour is
not to serve the page from cache: the requested page does not get shown
at all. No history entry gets pushed, and Lynx continues to display the
page from which the link was selected. The user can continue navigating
in the displayed page, as if ey had never selected the link to the other
page, or as if loading had failed due to a network problem (though no
error message is displayed). This is not long-standing behaviour in my
experience: it is new and problematic.

Bug#863103: munin-plugins-core: plugin ps_ breaks for perl

2017-05-21 Thread Benoit-Pierre Demaine (aka Doublehp)
Package: munin-plugins-core
Version: 2.0.33-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

*** End of the template - remove these template lines ***

I have set munin to have plugin called ps_perl. Other ps_* plgins are
working fine, but the perl one broke in fall january 2017.

All ps_* plugins used to work fine for a few weeks after setting them.
But after some systme update, ps_perl stopped working.

My thinking is that /usr/bin/pgrep changed behaviour in january.
/usr/bin/pgrep is owned by procps. Here is why I think so:

# $PGREP -f -l "\"
685 apache2
692 htcacheclean
4025 apache2
5800 apache2
5803 apache2
...

But ...
# $PGREP -f -l "\"
23689 munin-node
27041 zmdc.pl
27191 zmfilter.pl
27200 zmaudit.pl
27208 zmwatch.pl
27215 zmtelemetry.pl

So, for some reason, gprep will show the process name for most process,
but, for scripts, it will show the name of calling script. And,
according to my Munin graphs, plugin had been working fine for 3 weeks.
So, I guess there must have been an update of procps somewhere around
january (or a few months before; I rarely update).

So, once pgrep shows calling script instead of binary file, the next
filter will fail:
$PGREP -f -l "$name" | grep "$REGEX" | grep -v grep | wc -l
will fail on the middle part '' grep "$REGEX" '' for obvious reasons.
Then, plugin returns value of 0 even when many process are running. For
me, this issue occurs only on perl, which happens to be a script
interpreter; plugin works fine for apache2 and kworker.

There are tons of ways to fix this on plugin side.

But, this may also reveal a change of behaviour of pgrep in the bad way
... and if so, this may affect many other scripts relying on pgrep. So,
potentially, any script calling /usr/bin/pgrep, and/or any package
depending on procps.

There is one more issue that came up that in my opinion really must be fixed
before release. Diff with unstable for the additional issue attached.

I have added the moreinfo tag to the bug so we don't have to do this twice.
Once the update is accepted, I'll provide the full debdiff with testing and
remove the tag.

Bug#859926: ping: 859926: breaks with pulse-audio as output when spawned by speechd-up from init system

2017-05-21 Thread Paul Gevers
Hi all,

Any progress on this issue? Seems like nobody is working on it. It also
looks like the underlaying issue (pulseaudio & speech-dispatcher
combination) has been known for years and hasn't received much
attention. Is the solution just not possible because it requires a
choice for the default of pulseaudio between non-secure and working, or
secure and non-working (given the goals and designs of the tools
involved)? And currently the behavior is more secure and thus not
working out of the box for pulseaudio users (but working for alsa users)?

Maybe the "solution" is to acknowledge the situation, disable the init
scripts by default (at least of speechd-up, although that would also
cause alsa users to not have speechd-up) and describe it properly in the
documentation (I originally wrote debconf, but I don't think that is
allowed), such that the user can be told how to fix it (I don't know,
but it seems that starting pulseaudio as system user may solve the issues).

Obviously, if we are convinced that what I describe above is correct,
then we could add some detection for alsa vs pulseaudio into the loop
(no idea how that would work and unsure which package(s) should do that).

Bug#863101: Uscan uses all available memory of the system when run against guitarix

2017-05-21 Thread Víctor Cuadrado Juan
Package: devscripts
Version: 2.17.5
Severity: critical

When run against guitarix package git repo, at commit 7ff29bd,
for obtaining `guitarix2-0.35.3.tar.xz` that would become the
`guitarix_0.35.3.orig.tar.xz` symlink, `uscan --verbose` uses
all available ram of the system and if lucky it outputs
"Out of memory!".

I'm tagging it as critical because I have had my computer hard
freeze 2 times after executing uscan, needing a power cycle.

I have no configuration enabled for uscan in ~/.devscripts.

I don't see why uploading to stable-security to fix these issues (=changing
a GPG key or SSL cert) ain't possible, but this is certainly your call.

> It'll be easier and safer to provide up-to-date versions to users using

So you are assuming the above will change in the future? Because,
stable-backports is only for packages which will be included in the next
release…

Also the fact that you neglected the current jessie-backports package
(it's broken since months) is not setting a good example for future
backports… (backports admins really dont like it…)

All this also means that I'll drop most tests from
https://jenkins.debian.net/view/torbrowser/ - except those testing
installation in unstable and from unstable (on testing and stable) and
from git. (The failing tests constantly send emails, which is what bothers me
here.)

Can you check if this is fixed in screen 4.5.1-3 from Debian
Experimental? Because according to the upstream bug report
http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?50440 this should be fixed in 4.5.1.

If so, I'll try to cherry-pick the according upstream commits. Seem to

Description : DBus service for tracking available remote logon servers

The Remote Logon DBus Service will be part of bringing Arctica Greeter
(derived from Ubuntu's Unity Greeter) to Debian. The service monitors
a master broker server (with sub-brokers) and obtains information about
available remote desktop servers from the brokers. The service is used
from within Arctica Greeter itself. Arctica Greeter provides a remote
session logon feature to the user, when remote servers are available.

History: Around 2012, Canonical Ltd. developed a remote logon feature
for Unity Greeter that supported FreeRDP logons. Citrix Logons were
planned, too, but never finished (IIRC). The corresponding components in
Ubuntu are thin-client-config-agent and remote- login-service.
 .
The X2Go project (i.e. me) later on provieded patches for X2Go Sessinn
logon support via Unity Greeter, but those patches never got upstreamed.
And the UCCS remote logon concept has been discontinued ever since AFAIK.
 .
The continuation (and improvements) of Unity Greeter's remote logon
feature will be published under the name Arctica Greeter (i.e., greeter
frontend for LightDM). As a UCCS-like server, the X2Go Session Broker
can be used. However, in the Arcitca Project's context, we also plan to
provide such a brokerage feature which then can be plugged into Arctica
 Greeter.
 .
The components in Ubuntu are thin-client-config-agent and
remote-login-service. The forked projects provide the continuation of
those projects in a completely different name space. Thus, the named
Ubuntu packages and the forked packages should be co-installable.
 .
Most of the remote logon code has been contributed by Ted Gould from
Canonical. Thanks to Ted for this awesome effort on the related
 components.

This is a simple Django middleware utility that allows you to
properly serve static assets from production with a WSGI server
 like Gunicorn.
 .
Django doesn’t recommend the production use of its static file
server for a number of reasons. There exists, however, a lovely
 WSGI application aptly named Static.
 .
It is suitable for the production use of static file serving,
 unlike Django.

Bug#863095: screen: syntax changed for -L argument, effectively an API change :/

2017-05-21 Thread Daniel Kahn Gillmor
Package: screen
Version: 4.5.0-5
Severity: normal

before screen 4.5.0, -L took no arguments.

in 4.5.0 and later, -L takes one argument, the name of the logfile.

but if you have any pre-existing code that does something like:

screen -L -c foo.screenrc

then it fails in 4.5.0 because it doesn't like -c as an argument to
-L.

this is effectively an API breakage, which makes existing tools that
embed screen break. This has an effect on kvm-manager, for instance.

https://0xacab.org/dkg/kvm-manager

it makes it so that kvm-manager can't reuse the same invocation on
stretch and pre-stretch systems.

connection dictionary, populated with all the data specified
in your URL. There is also a conn_max_age argument to easily
 enable Django’s connection pool.

If you’d rather not use an environment variable, you can pass
a URL in directly instead to dj_database_url.parse.

Sorry, yes. This is basically the same as #782463, and it doesn't need
to be RC since it's been the case forever. For that matter it's more or
less the same as the gotcha documented in debconf-devel(7), albeit for
the postinst rather than the postrm (but the considerations are
basically the same):

   * Avoid outputting anything to stdout in your postinst,
since that can confuse debconf, and postinst should not
be verbose anyway. Output to stderr is ok, if you must.

Another good workaround for this type of problem, and Maximiliano, this
is something you should do anyway in sddm, is to put:

  . /usr/share/debconf/confmodule

... at the *top* of your postrm, just below the #! line and any "set -e"
or similar command, even if dh_installdebconf also inserts a fragment
later that includes that line. That way, the confmodule's redirection
of stdout to stderr will take effect early enough to be useful. Often
more importantly, this avoids problems caused by the fact that sourcing
the confmodule re-execs the calling script, which can cause weird
problems if you weren't expecting all the code before the confmodule is
sourced to be called twice, which you probably weren't. This is
documented under HACKS in debconf-devel(7).

Thanks,

Thanks; applied in 1.5.61, with the amendment that I bumped the
Pre-Depends on perl-base to 5.20.1-3~ to account for this.

Please do also add the appropriate Breaks (or Conflicts if necessary,
but I suspect that's overkill and it may be harmful) to perl-base 5.26;
it isn't uncommon for people to try skip upgrades which mostly work even
if they're unsupported, and I wouldn't want to see them broken due to
something we could have avoided.

I think Debconf::TmpFile should in fact just be replaced entirely by
File::Temp at this point, but let's stick with the minimal patch for
now.

supposed to fix this does nothing to address use of the ABI in the builders.
Since then, there have also been some patches upstream (as Matt had mentioned)
to resolve the fallout due to the change:

https://github.com/hashicorp/packer/pull/4900/files
https://github.com/hashicorp/packer/pull/4910/files

Here's some output to look at for what's failing:

As of right now, packer (per Stretch) won't successfully build anything that
depends on provisioning via SSH. Can we please look into this and do what's
needed so that it's ready for the release?

Thanks,

It is still present in jessie, could you also fix it there?

Bug#863089: Please provide post-processed logs output for manpages.d.o

2017-05-21 Thread Michael Stapelberg
Package: piuparts
Severity: wishlist

This is in relation to https://bugs.debian.org/850917, where we added
code to log update-alternatives calls.

Now that the calls are logged, we need to somehow make Debiman aware
of the calls. To that end, I wrote a program which will read all
available logs, parse all LOG-ALTERNATIVES lines, and generate a JSON
file with the links created by the various binary packages.

Find the source of that program at
https://github.com/Debian/debiman/blob/b4d79f84b34abfc59effcd85c78541ce8f572b4b/cmd/debiman-piuparts-distill/piuparts.go

I then ran the program like so on piuparts.debian.org:

% debiman-piuparts-distill \
-logs_dir=/srv/piuparts.debian.org/htdocs/stretch \
-output=debiman/testing.json.gz

% debiman-piuparts-distill \
  -logs_dir=/srv/piuparts.debian.org/htdocs/sid \
  -output=debiman/unstable.json.gz

% debiman-piuparts-distill \
  -logs_dir=/srv/piuparts.debian.org/htdocs/experimental \
  -output=debiman/experimental.json.gz

% debiman-piuparts-distill \
  -logs_dir=/srv/piuparts.debian.org/htdocs/jessie \
  -output=debiman/stable.json.gz

I then copied debiman/*.json.gz over to manziarly.debian.org,
re-generated the entire site, and slave alternative manpages now work
as expected :).

Obviously, the above was a one-off manual effort, so now we should
discuss how we’d like to set things up for a more permanent export.

Here’s a strawman proposal. We could:

1. Add a crontab entry, which triggers a shell script, which will
update debiman-piuparts-distill, then run it on the logs
   directories.

2. Store the resulting *.json.gz files in a directory called
   /srv/piuparts.debian.org/htdocs/for-manpages.d.o

3. Download the files via HTTPS on manziarly.d.o.

Step ① requires installing the Go compiler
(https://packages.debian.org/stretch/golang-go) on piuparts.d.o. We
could avoid this if we’re all okay with just copying the
debiman-piuparts-distill binary onto piuparts.d.o, but referring to
e.g. /home/stapelberg/debiman-piuparts-distill from a cronjob within
the piuparts git repository feels somewhat unclean.

Any thoughts? Would you be okay with my strawman? If so, I’ll prepare
a patch.

Bug#863088: ifupdown: interfaces hwaddr functionality - missing macchanger dependency

2017-05-21 Thread Yan
Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.7.53.1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
Adding hwaddr config line into /etc/network/interfaces config file

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
After installation of macchanger everything worked flawlessly, before
installation of macchanger mac address just did not change and I did not notice
any error message (searched log files, maybe I overlooked it)

   * Solution?
Problem could be probably resolved by workaround using ip link set hwaddr
functionality instead of macchanger or marking macchanger as at least optional
functionality of ifupdown package and mentioning in manpage of "interfaces"
(/etc/network/interfaces) that hwaddr funcionality needs macchanger as
dependency. (It is misleading because same effect can be done with ip link
which is installed by default, so I did not expect that macchanger is crucial
to hwaddr config option to work) Macchanger is not part of minimal image and is
not dependency of ifupdown, so it can be easily missing in system. Iproute2 is
part of minimal image and also dependency of ifupdown.

if you think your report could be closed than you can do this by
yourself by adressing your email to [bugnumber]-d...@bugs.debian.org
This would help us to not spend time on asking back the needed
information for further investigation that would be pointless.

BTW:
Your report is really poor and lacks important information to get
reproduced by others. By this it's very likely no one will step in and
try to resolve the issue(s).

Bug#863085: unblock: dante/1.4.1+dfsg-5 [preapproval, RC]

2017-05-21 Thread Peter Pentchev
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org

Hi,

This is a pre-approval request for dante to fix a long-standing
bug that makes the first installation of the dante-server binary
package fail, since the dante-server service cannot possibly be
started with the default config file. The bug - #862988 - was
reported as "important", but I raised its priority to "serious",
and I should have fixed it a long time ago.

I'm attaching the proposed debdiff, a targeted fix that lets
the initial installation succeed even though the service fails
to start. If it is approved, I'll upload the package and let
you know when the time comes to really unblock it.

Thanks in advance for your time!

G'luck,
Peter

Bug#862584: It looks thet problem is not in thunderbird, but lookout extesion :(

2017-05-21 Thread Kamil Jońca

I did some tests, and it looks like, after disabling "Look Out (fix
version)" it works ok.
So my bug is rather invalid.
