Yes, that's caused by d-shlibs. D-shlibs is verifying the existence of
the library and assumes that a package is named like the library. If
the package name is different from the library name you sometimes need
an override (several overrides are contained in d-shlibs - I'll sent a
patch once we found the correct one to simplify the rules file).

I commited an **untested** override which hopefully works - may be the
regexp needs some adjustment. I was not able to test since I would have
needed to build all the other libs which I do not have time right now.
If you confirm that the other libbpp* packages are ready for upload I'll
do so step by step and then I'll check libbpp-qt.

Hint: For libbpp-qt pristine-tar was not updated. I did so now but
please make sure the other libbpp* repositories are updated as well
since this simplifies my work. :-)

Bug#889740: thunderbird: Faulty apparmor configuration

2018-02-06 Thread Marcin Owsiany
The issue is caused by lack of getTimeStampName declaration in xmotd.c. The
implicit declaration assumed instead causes the pointer to buf to be cast
to an int, in turn causing some truncation of bits which are non-zero in
this case of a static buffer placed in a far location in address space
(probably in some special section when hardening is used). utime() detects
this and returns EFAULT.

The build log shows plenty of warnings, some of which might have a similar
effect.

Bug#888743: Info received (pidofproc returns PIDs in foreign chroots and containers)

2018-02-06 Thread Harald Dunkel
PPS: Lets face it: The executable path alone is simply not suitable for
finding the PID. I might have run a second daemon listening on another
network interface, for example. I don't want that daemon killed just
because the "regular" daemon was already shutdown before.

What are the odds that the pidfile is lost without killing the daemon,
anyway? Looking at the scary side effects of this feature it might be
reasonable to kick out the path check completely and to rely upon the
pidfile only.

Would you recommend to deprecate src:lsb and replace it by a cleaned up
"lsbng"?

engauge-digitizer fails to cross build from source, because it runs
qmake for the build architecture rather than the host architecture. The
easiest way to fix this is letting dh_auto_configure handle this stuff
and indeed after doing so, engauge-digitizer cross builds successfully.

Touché. I originally tested new upstream version, then reworked it
for a minimal NMU, then reworked the commits into what I hoped would
potentially be useful to someone who happened to wonder how to fix a
similar bug.

I'll do this (if necessary) as soon as I hear back from Sandro about
his preference. Ah, yes, and now I see how it would have been best to use
0.1.20171212-2~ in the first patch.

Thank you for clearing this up, I might be inductively challenged
haha! Might you be willing to add something to this effect to

Yes d-m-h(1) has
symlink_to_dir /path/name old-target [prior-version [package]]

It took longer than I'd like to admit to realise that symlink_to_dir
functions like this. eg, for /path/name

cd /path
ln -s name symlink-name (aka: new-target)

corresponds to

dir_to_symlink /path/name symlink-name

which is reversed with

symlink_to_dir /path/name symlink-name (aka: old-target)
  |
where this is not the new_dir_name <-|

For some reason I kept seeing

symlink_to_dir /existing/symlink-name new_dir_name

Thank you for your support :-) On the topic of rounds of revision,
because a package-dbg depends on package ${binary:Version}, should all
package-dbgs do this:

dir_to_symlink /path/package-dbg package ?

similarly to how automatic -dbgsym packages are handled? If so, I
think my patch can be improved by adding this operation to each of the
-dbg.maintscripts.

Bug#889798: pdns-backend-mysql: Queries calling stored procedures break PowerDNS in weird ways

2018-02-06 Thread Xan Charbonnet
Package: pdns-backend-mysql
Version: 4.0.3-1+deb9u2
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

PowerDNS versions 4.x (the versions in Jessie, Stretch, Buster, and Sid) fails
to handle stored procedures. When a stored procedure is used as one of the
PowerDNS queries, it works the first time, but subsequent queries return
really weird results. It appears that these results are from some kind of
cache, but they're simply broken.

The troubleshooting described at this link mirrors my diagnostic process:
https://github.com/PowerDNS/pdns/issues/6115

The fix:
https://github.com/PowerDNS/pdns/pull/6134/files
was merged 5 days ago into upstream. There has not yet been an upstream
release containing this fix. Because it has been accepted upstream, I don't
believe anything special needs to be done for Buster or Sid, other than
keeping up with upstream.

I'm asking you to consider updating the version in Stretch (and possibly the
one in Jessie). While I don't believe this is a security issue, PowerDNS in
these distributions is plainly broken when used with stored procedures.
Nobody will be inconvenienced by this change in behavior, and it will allow
PowerDNS to work as documented and intended.

I successfully merged this patch into the Debian version of PowerDNS from
Stretch for my own local use. It worked great. It would be really nice if
the official package could include this fix.

Bug#889795: [zfs-linux] Pleaes Package 0.7.6

2018-02-06 Thread Antonio Russo
Package: zfs-linux
Severity: wishlist

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

ZFS (and SPL) 0.7.6 has been released.

Most importantly, they add support for Linux 4.15 and
replacing a nested vdev. It also includes some performance
enhancements, documentation corrections, and zfs receive
option handling.

The 0001-Fix-bug-in-distclean-which-removes-needed-files
patch has been included upstream, and after removing
it, the .deb builds fine.

Bug#889773: no clear how to use the programm. Does nothing?

2018-02-06 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Hi Tomas,

> Oh, I see. My problem in understanding how to use kwalletcli stems
> from the ambiguity of the word "folder". It can also mean a
> directory, as in directory in the filesystem.

No, only on Windows® really, and even there it’s wrong terminology
people got used to over years of misuse (like using + to concatenate
keys depressed simultaneously; I’ve got early Microsoft® manuals
getting both things right).

A folder is the thing in IMAP where you store eMails in, and
the thing you put in a shelf, into which you put archived
invoices and stuff like that. Well, in general IT terminology.

In KDE Wallet terminology, a “folder” is like the DN of an
LDAP entry, and an “entry” is like an attribute.

> So what I was doing is:
>
> kwalletcli -e entry -f $PATH_TO_THE_WALLET

The “PATH_TO_THE_WALLET” is called a Wallet in KDE Wallet
terminology. kwalletcli only supports using the default
wallet; KDE 5 ships another CLI which supports using ar‐
bitrary wallets, but requires the user to specify the one
to use, so it does something different from kwalletcli.

> May I suggest this patch to the man page to disambiguate the meaning
> of folder or respectively to make it's context more clear, and to add
> a simple example:

I’ll think about it. I might not use the exact patch, but
thanks for correcting my assumption that shipping four
example scripts was enough.

> +echo MYPASSWORD | kwalletcli -e Stackoverflow -f Websites -P

「\*(Ba」, not a raw 「|」; also, “echo” would add a newline,
which breaks other users of the wallet data, as the newline
would be interpreted as being part of the password (hence the
“printf '%s' "$password"” in my example).

Bug#889794: elpa-cider: should inject dependencies from Debian packages

2018-02-06 Thread Sean Whitton
Package: elpa-cider
Version: 0.16.0+dfsg-1
Severity: wishlist
Control: block -1 by 885409

elpa-cider's README.Debian says:

The usual way to start a CIDER REPL is `M-x cider-jack-in`. This
requires CIDER's nREPL middleware be available in your project.
CIDER can automatically download and inject this middleware during
`M-x cider-jack-in`, but CIDER in Debian has this feature disabled
by default to avoid surprise downloads from the Internet.

You can either toggle the Emacs variable
cider-inject-dependencies-at-jack-in to t in your ~/.emacs, which
will enable transparent download and injection of CIDER's
middleware, or add the middleware as dependencies of your project.
See the "CIDER's nREPL middleware" subsection of the "Installation"
section of CIDER's manual.

Ideally, we would patch CIDER such that it would inject middleware which
had been installed by means of Debian packages. Then elpa-cider could
depend on those packages, and since CIDER would never try to download
its middleware from the Internet, we could set
cider-inject-dependencies-at-jack-in back to t.

Notes on my attempts to make this happen:

When using lein, CIDER users lein's `update-in` subcommand to inject its
dependencies. So we should be able to use `update-in` to add a local
repository, like this:

lein update-in : :repositories conj '["debian" \
"file:/usr/share/maven-repo"]' -- update-in :dependencies conj \
'[org.clojure/tools.nrepl "0.2.12" :exclusions \
[org.clojure/clojure]]' -- update-in :plugins conj \
'[cider/cider-nrepl "0.15.1"]' -- repl :headless :host ::

Alternatively, it might work to use a CIDER profile which sets the
mirror or the repositories:

{:mirrors {#".+" {:url "file:/usr/share/maven-repo"}}}

or

{:repositories [["debian" "file:/usr/share/maven-repo"]]}

Note that if we go the profiles approach, we would need to add support
for /etc/leiningen/profiles.d; currently only ~/.lein/profiles.d/,
~/.lein/profiles.clj and /etc/leiningen/profiles.clj are supported.

At that time emacs-w3m is about to access the url "about:", and
runs (file-exist-p "about:") at first in order to check whether
"about:" is a local file.  But IIUC, it should not trigger TRAMP;
only a thing like "/about:" will trigger TRAMP. I can reproduce
the same error with (file-exist-p "/about:") and a similar error
with (w3m "/about:"), though such ones should not happen. Funny.

Bug#889792: cider-doc: menu bar obscures document text

2018-02-06 Thread Sean Whitton
Package: cider-doc
Version: 0.16.0+dfsg-1
Severity: minor
Tags: help

The HTML docs are hard to read because the top of each page is obscured
by the excessively large menu bar. This is because the menu bar
contains too many items. Using a mkdocs theme with a sidebar menu,
rather than a topbar menu, would fix this.

You already reset the timer by keeping the discussion in this bug alive ;-)

> I pushed to the following remote and have also
> attached the patches (see commit messages for more info):

Assuming the next upload will be versioned 0.1.20171212-2, the version
in the .maintscript files needs to be 0.1.20171212-2~, i.e. you want
""+"~".
That version will also be OK if a new upstream release comes with the
fix, but not for a NMU (that would be versioned 0.1.20171212-1.1 and you
would need to use 0.1.20171212-1.1~ in that case).

There is no need to bump the version in the .maintscript files for
further uploads to buster (unless you need more bugfixes to the d-m-h
calls) (or unless you are uploading new upstream releases to stretch).
There are only two cases while upgrading: upgrading from a version
without the fix (e.g. stretch or 0.1.20171212-1) or a version with the
fix (in that case the migration can be skipped)

You should squash the two patches, the separation just causes confusion.

regarding the commit message:

>Maintscripts had:
> symlink_to_dir pathname new-target

There is no such thing as a "new-target" for symlink_to_dir.
I think the maintscripts had "symlink_to_dir pathname current-package".

Andreas

PS: I would likely have sponsored a delayed NMU, after several rounds of
revision ;-)

Yes it is installable. It depends on systemd, not systemd-sysv. systemd is

Bug#889791: virtualbox: PulseAudio-related segmentation fault from PowerShell beeps

2018-02-06 Thread Kevin Locke

Dear Maintainer,

When running a Windows 7 guest using the PulseAudio host audio driver
and either "ICH AC97" or "Intel HD Audio" audio controller, running
PowerShell and causing repeated beeping (e.g. by invoking ^G repeatedly)
will cause VirtualBox to crash with SIGSEGV. I was able to reproduce
the issue using the Microsoft-provided "IE8 on Win7 (x86)" VM image[1]
but was unable to reproduce it from terminal beeps using a Linux image.

I could host the entire core dump if it would be useful. The host
system has pulseaudio 11.1-4 installed.

Let me know if I should report the issue upstream. I couldn't find a
way to run the distro-agnostic binary package without installing it,
which I'm hesitant to do. So I have filed the issue here to start.

Thanks,
Kevin

Due to the package building on platforms where it's not even
installable, it never migrated. I hacked around this problem again by
copying Depends into Build-Depends and uploading again, but it seems
that the existence of old binaries on these architectures in Unstable
will still prevent migration once the time limit elapses [1].

When opening a PDF in Epiphany (using 'browser-plugin-evince') it

any PDF file I've tried, and these same files don't flicker when opened

One possible (albeit brute force) approach, in dealing with the specifics of
this CVE, may be to explicitly translate ESC-] into BLANK-], leaving a
potential attack visible but ineffective. This only addresses the attack
vector documented in the particular CVE but it can be done efficiently. The
sequence does not appear significant in ANSI - the CVE documents the xterm
situation. Checking very old termcap, the impact would be on unfiltering
emulations derived (this is a sample) from nec 5520, freedom 100, Sun
workstations sun-s/-e-s, fortune, etc. Based on the seemingly limited use of
this sequence, having a config item may be overkill, but it could be set
enabled by default.

What I don't know - and it's not explicitly in the CVE - is just how many
other terminal types with similar vulnerabilities are out there, but I'm
suspecting it's larger than one would guess - mostly, it seems like this
particular sequence is intended to be used for writing status line output
(line 25?) instead of sticking it in a prompt. This can be used prettifies a
lengthy bash prompt to display the current branch and repository at the
bottom of the screen instead of in the inline prompt, but that's the user's
choice and not something git has to deal with. There were some green-screen
terminals with other weird ESC sequences back in the day that could really
get into trouble with this, including loading/executing programs in terminal
memory via output - really. I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time,
but I can see how it could have been used for evil.

A more general solution might be to permit the configuration of a list of
blocked character sequences and apply those as a filter. Something like
core.filter-mask="\E]", "\EA".

Just my $0.02 ramblings.

Cheers,
Randall

Bug#889773: no clear how to use the programm. Does nothing?

2018-02-06 Thread Tomas Pospisek

Hi Thorsten,

On Tue, 6 Feb 2018, Thorsten Glaser wrote:

Tomas Pospisek dixit:

How is this programm supposed to be used? Can you give an example
in the man page?

This is fully documented in the manpage:

-P Read the password to write from standard input. Currently

… and:

Default mode of operation, that is, unless -P or -p are used, is to read
the password from the Wallet and print it to standard output as-is, with‐
out any trailing newline.

So, you can do something like:

printf '%s' "$password" | kwalletcli -e foo -f bar -P

password=$(kwalletcli -e foo -f bar)

Oh, I see. My problem in understanding how to use kwalletcli stems from
the ambiguity of the word "folder". It can also mean a directory, as in
directory in the filesystem. So what I was doing is:

   kwalletcli -e entry -f $PATH_TO_THE_WALLET

Which obviously won't show me an entry.

May I suggest this patch to the man page to disambiguate the meaning of
folder or respectively to make it's context more clear, and to add a
simple example:

Bug#889788: w3m-el-snapshot conflict with TRAMP

Its value is "2.2.13.25.2")

# su - nobody -c 'HOME=/tmp/ff emacs'& #Total clean environment.

At this point a connection to "about:" is caught by TRAMP.

Sure, there are things one can put in one's .emacs file to prevent this.

I am saying it should work right out of the box.

Also maybe the only reason I discovered this,
is because I was testing offline.

Bug#809964: all my passwords are gone

2018-02-06 Thread Sandro Knauß
Control: Severity -1 important

Hey,

you data is not lost, so critical is too much.
Normally the import wizard should work without any issue, if the recommended
kde-runtime is installed. Because you need the old KWallet4 daemon (/usr/bin/
kwalletd) running for the migration.

If the auto migration do not work, than you can access the old data in the
kde4 path and import them directly to the new kwallet5:
~/.kde/share/apps/kwallet/*kwl

You can also stop/retrigger the automigration by delete/add the part in
~/.local/kwalletrc:
[Migration]
alreadyMigrated=true

other than that please enable debugging via kdebugsettings and please also
search for upstream bugreports on bugs.kde.org.

> originally I've posted this as a follow up to
> #863844, however #809964 seems to be the more appropriate place.

please refrain from raising the severity of unrelated bugs to critical.

It won´t help you towards a solution. Please read my comment to

kwalletmanager: Migration does not work and restarts at every login
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=863844#15

And ask in debian-kde mailing list for help on how to complete the migration.

It is not beneficial to discuss this in the bug tracker, so please use user
support mailing list for finding help with this upstream issue.

The aim of the Qt/KDE team is to remove Qt4 for next Debian release. So there
are no plans on making kwalletmanager from KDE SC 4 and kwalletmanager5 from
Plasma 5 co-installable.

That's fair. The main thing I'd like to avoid is the autoremoval of
rdepending packages ;-) I pushed to the following remote and have also
attached the patches (see commit messages for more info):

Bug#863844: all my passwords are gone

I disagree, see below.

> At this point I do not know how to recover the passwords from kwallet.
> Looks like 100% data loss at this point.

Kwalletmanager from Plasma 5 does not delete the original KDE SC 4 KWallet
files. So I think it is safe to say the *.kwl files in ~/.kde/share/apps/
kwallet are still there.

For some reason the migration failed on your system, but AFAIK you can repeat
the attempt to migrate as many times as you like. I think it is sufficient to
remove the first two lines from the config file of the kwalletmanager from
Plasma 5.

~/.config> head -2 kwalletrc
[Migration]
alreadyMigrated=true

and restart kwalletmanager. There was a blog post from KWallet Manager but, I
cannot access it currently.[0]

But really, this is user support, so please ask in debian-kde mailing list for
help on how to successfully migrate it. If you then find a solution, then feel
free to add it to the bug report.

Again, I am nearly 100% sure that there is no data loss. So a severity of
critical is not justified¹. I totally get that you are frustrated, but please
first check whether your old kwalletmanager from KDE SC 4 *.kwl files are
still there before setting the bug severity based on assumptions.

Please note that this is also an upstream issue, so you can help by
researching in the upstream bug tracker² for a bug about it. If you find one,
please add information about it to this bug report. Well I searched there for
"kwalletmanager migration", but found no obvious fit for your bug
description³. But please look for yourself and probably try out different
search terms.

I am not even sure whether the file format changed. Maybe its even sufficient
to copy the kwl files over to the new location, but that might not be enough.
I had issues with migration for one of my users, but I fixed them long ago and
do not remember exactly what I did. The new location is: ~/.local/share/
kwalletd

Bug#889786: ats2-lang: New upstream version available

Bug#889785: ITP: libequinox-osgi-java -- Equinox OSGi framework

2018-02-06 Thread Markus Koschany
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Markus Koschany

* Package name: libequinox-osgi-java
  Version : 3.9.1
Upstream Author : IBM Corporation and others
* URL : https://www.eclipse.org/equinox/
* License : EPL-1.0
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : Equinox OSGi framework

This package includes the Eclipse Equinox OSGi framework, which
can be used outside Eclipse. Equinox is an implementation of the OSGi
core framework specification, a set of bundles that implement various
optional OSGi services and other infrastructure for running OSGi-based
systems. The Equinox OSGi core framework implementation is used as the
reference implementation and as such it implements all the required
features of the latest OSGi core framework specification.

More generally, the goal of the Equinox project is to be a first class
OSGi community and foster the vision of Eclipse as a landscape of
bundles. As part of this, it is responsible for developing and
delivering the OSGi framework implementation used for all of Eclipse.

This package is already in Debian but is currently built from
src:eclipse. To improve the maintainability of libequinox-osgi-java
and since it is rather difficult to maintain the Eclipse IDE as a
whole (#681726) we go this route to reduce complexity and to ensure
that reverse-dependencies of libequinox-osgi-java continue to function
even when the Eclipse IDE does not.

Bug#780379: a cautionary tale about palemoon

I don't know if it's just frayed tempers, but

Otherwise you can use Recommends.

Bug#874835: [bppphyview] Future Qt4 removal from Buster

2018-02-06 Thread Julien Yann Dutheil
Hi,

While trying to update the libbpp-qt package to use Qt5 instead of Qt4, I'm
getting this error (using debuild -us -uc):

devlibs error: There is no package matching [libQt5Core5-dev] and noone
provides it, please report bug to d-shlibs maintainer
devlibs error: There is no package matching [libQt5Gui5-dev] and noone
provides it, please report bug to d-shlibs maintainer
devlibs error: There is no package matching [libQt5Widgets5-dev] and noone
provides it, please report bug to d-shlibs maintainer

Any idea of what is going on? The code otherwise compiles smoothly. I can
see the packages for Qt5 changed names (no more libqt5-dev, etc), and I am
probably missing sthg :s Git repos is updated to reproduce the error.

Any insight welcome!

Julien.

Bug#889784: ITP: ldmud -- LPC mud driver (non-free)

2018-02-06 Thread Richard James Salts
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Richard James Salts

* Package name: ldmud
  Version : 3.5.1
Upstream Author : Alexander Motzkau , Dominik Schäfer

* URL : http://www.ldmud.eu/
* License : The source code and any executables created may not
* be used for monetary gain.
  Programming Lang: C, LPC
  Description : LPC mud driver

LDMud is a a runtime environment used for a network-based game written in LPC.
It handles all the connections and compiles the lpc into bytecode which
runs on top of the daemon.
I'd like to package this in debian in order to make it easier for novice mud
coders to get a mud running quickly. Debian offers a few mud clients,
but not many mud servers.
I would like to maintain this package as part of the Debian Games Team.
The rate of releases is quite manageable as it's quite a mature project.
I would however need a sponsor.

Bug#889783: sleep, disconnect Thunderbolt display, open laptop lid, X thinks it is dual-headed

2018-02-06 Thread Daniel Pocock
package: xserver-xorg-core
version: 2:1.19.2-1+deb9u2
severity: important

The laptop was being used with a Thunderbolt 3 dock.  The lid was down
while it was being used and the display attached to the dock was the
only active display.

The sleep button was pressed on the dock and the laptop went to sleep.

The Thunderbolt 3 cable was removed from the laptop.

The lid was opened.

The unlock screen appeared - but the place to type the password was not
visible.  The mouse cursor could be moved beyond the left edge of the
screen, as if another screen was present.  It appears the password field
was being rendered on the other screen.

Typing the password unlocked the laptop but it continued to think it was
dual-headed.

Closing and opening the lid again it started behaving normally.

Bug#889760: lintian: missing-notice-file-for-apache-license should check for NOTICE file in jar file

2018-02-06 Thread Markus Koschany
Package: lintian
Version: 2.5.73
Severity: normal

Hi,

the check for Lintian error missing-notice-file-for-apache-license
does not take into consideration that the NOTICE or NOTICE.txt file is
already installed into the binary package via some jar file. Please do
not warn in this case because the conditions of the Apache license 2.0
are then satisfied. An example package where this is true is
libcommons-math-java.

Bug#863844: all my passwords are gone

2018-02-06 Thread Tomas Pospisek

Hi there,

just as Rainer reported:

* before upgrading from jessie to stretch I've checked the release notes
there seems to be no mention of kwallet in the notes
* then I've upgraded from jessie to stretch
* when I start kwalletmanager it comes up empty
  * all my passwords seem to be gone
* when I select File -> Import a wallet, nothing happens, no dialog shows up
* when I select File -> Import XML, nothing happens, no dialog shows up

I think this bug report by Rainer should have had severity critical and
have blocked kwalletmanager from entering stretch.

Also the release notes should warn about this problem and suggest to
export the passwords before upgrading.

And there should be a NEWS file coming with kwalletmanger warning
about this and strongly suggesting an export.

At this point I do not know how to recover the passwords from kwallet.
Looks like 100% data loss at this point.

I'll proceed now and will set the severity of this bug to critical.

Suggestions for recovery procedures for the passwords are wellcome.

Thanks,
*t

PS: By some divine intuition I did export the passwords from kwallet
before the jessie -> stretch upgrade.

Bug#809964: all my passwords are gone

2018-02-06 Thread Tomas Pospisek

Hi there,

originally I've posted this as a follow up to
#863844, however #809964 seems to be the more appropriate place.

Here goes the same comment as in 863844, slightly adapted:

* before upgrading from jessie to stretch I've checked the release notes
there seems to be no mention of kwallet in the notes
* then I've upgraded from jessie to stretch
* when I start kwalletmanager it comes up empty
  * all my passwords seem to be gone
* when I select File -> Import a wallet, nothing happens, no dialog shows up
* when I select File -> Import XML, nothing happens, no dialog shows up

I think this bug report should have severity critical as people will
loose (access?) to all of their passwords, unless the do an export before
the upgrade. Severity critical would have prevented kwalletmanager from
entering stretch, which would have been the right thing IMO.

Also the release notes should warn about this problem and suggest to export the
passwords before upgrading.

And there should be a NEWS file coming with kwalletmanger warning about this
and strongly suggesting an export.

At this point I do not know how to recover the passwords from kwallet. Looks

This is a bug in haddock, fixed upstream.[1] I'm preparing an upload of
ghc (where Debian's haddock hangs out) with the patch applied.

Bug#889758: ding: wrong grepopts for hunspell

2018-02-06 Thread Rene Engelhard
Package: ding
Version: 1.8.1-1
Severity: important

ding contains:

# spell checker
set default_searchmeth(1,name) {Spell check}
set default_searchmeth(1,grepcmds) {hunspell ispell aspell}
set default_searchmeth(1,language1) "English spell check"
set default_searchmeth(1,grepopts) "-B -d british -a"
# --encoding utf-8

# spell checker
set default_searchmeth(2,name) {Rechtschreibung}
set default_searchmeth(2,grepcmds) {hunspell ispell aspell}
set default_searchmeth(2,language1) "Deutsche Rechtschreibprüfung"
set default_searchmeth(2,grepopts) "-B -d ngerman -a"

AFAICS from that hunspell is called when it exists. But unfortunately
for hunspell, the dictionaries are not named "british" or "ngerman".
in /usr/share/hunspell:

$ ls -la
insgesamt 4548
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root4096 Feb 6 16:12 .
drwxr-xr-x 356 root root 12288 Feb 6 16:07 ..

lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   9 Dez 11  2016 de_BE.dic -> de_DE.dic

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 18978 Dez 11 2016 de_DE.aff
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1098996 Dez 11 2016 de_DE.dic
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   9 Dez 11  2016 de_LI.aff -> de_CH.aff
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   9 Dez 11  2016 de_LI.dic -> de_CH.dic
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   9 Dez 11  2016 de_LU.aff -> de_DE.aff
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   9 Dez 11  2016 de_LU.dic -> de_DE.dic
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 28123 Jan 12 2017 en_GB.aff
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 685158 Jan 12 2017 en_GB.dic
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root3090 Okt 20 21:09 en_US.aff
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 546103 Okt 20 21:09 en_US.dic

So ding says

"Can't open affix or dictionary files for dictionary named "british".

(and the same for ngerman)

lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   9 Feb  6 16:12 british.aff -> en_GB.aff
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   9 Feb  6 16:12 british.dic -> en_GB.dic
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   9 Feb  6 16:11 ngerman.aff -> de_DE.aff
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root root   9 Feb  6 16:11 ngerman.dic -> de_DE.dic

fix this, but... We of course could add it to hunspell-de-* (thus making
them conflict - bad... Or just -de-de...) and hunspell-en-gb...

Rene

Yes, that's correct. And it's what we are doing:

wine: 1.8.x, 2.0.x, 3.0.x (all stable releases)

wine-development: 2.1, 2.2, ..., 2.22, 3.0-rcx (all development
releases, and release candidates)

Maybe it's about the release candidates and where to put them? For the
1.8 release they were in wine, for 2.0 and 3.0 in wine-development.

You wrote:

This is correct 52 weeks a year, but not when the stable release is the
most recent release. So if the latest release is 3.0 (stable) and the
previous release 3.0-rc6 (development) then we will (and did) ship a
higher version number in wine:

wine/3.0-1
wine-development/3.0~rc6-1

> If not you may close this bug as solved/won't fix please.

I'll close it with wine-development/3.1-1. Still, I'd love to
understand what this bug was about.

Yes, you've included the old changelogs, but you did not document the
changes you have made to the packaging based on version 0.3.0-2~experimental1.

(So you'll need to document also the changes you've made based on my review...)

Pleae fix that :)

Ok, however it is a bit awkward* if the license is only specified on some
website. Please work toward get this file removed and replaced by stock
CMake's one.
There is no indication in the file or on the website about the copyright
years.

* It does a bit consitute the "Tentacles of Evil" problem, as websites
can change at any time. So I really ask to to look into this even for this
release.

They might not proficient in writing copyright files or just made a mistake.
But we generally write d/copyright based on analysis on the content of the
individual files so you use the information in the header.

of course ok for me.

You can still pull from upstream and cherry pick changes. However, as this
branch might create confusion on the Debian packaging repository, it would be
better to drop it.

Bug#889757: bash: man2html dependency problematic for bootstrapping

2018-02-06 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: bash
Version: 4.4.18-1
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

Hi Matthias,

I saw that you added man2html to Build-Depends. That happens to not be
good for bootstrapping, because man2html is not Multi-Arch: foreign. Let
me propose three things to improve the situation:

 * bash only actually needs /usr/bin/man2html and not the whole cgi
stuff. Thus the dependency should be man2html-base rather than
   man2html.
 * I requested marking man2html-base Multi-Arch: foreign in #889755.
 * I also observe that man2html is only ever run in the -indep build, so
it should be moved to Build-Depends-Indep.

So switching to man2html-base or B-D-I is sufficient for resolving the
bootstrap issue. The attached patch does both.

Bug#889756: merkaartor FTCBFS: runs qmake for the build architecture

2018-02-06 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: merkaartor
Version: 0.18.3+ds-2
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

merkaartor fails to cross build from source. It runs lrelease, but
lrelease tends to do nothing and just warn you about that unless you add
qt5-qmake:native to Build-Depends. This smells like a policy 4.6
violation, but adding the missing dependency fixes it. Then the bare
qmake invocation misses out all the flags needed for cross compilation
that dh_auto_configure knows about. After indirecting it through
dh_auto_configure, merkaartor cross builds successfully. Please consider
applying the attached patch.

Bug#889755: mark man2html-base Multi-Arch: foreign

2018-02-06 Thread Helmut Grohne
Package: man2html-base
Version: 1.6g-10
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap
Control: affects -1 + src:bash

man2html-base contains the man2html tool that turns one text format
(man) into another text format (html). Since it doesn't interact with
binary formats much less architecture-dependent binary formats it seems
relatively safe to mark it Multi-Arch: foreign.

As it happens, bash started build-depending on man2html and that
dependency is presently problematic as the build tries to run a host
arch man2html. Adding the Multi-Arch: foreign here makes bash use the
build architecture man2html and thus it can run it during build.

I haven't looked into whether making man2html Multi-Arch: foreign is
sensible. For one thing it is harder to analyze and then I think bash
should be happy with just using man2html-base. So maybe we don't have to
think about it.

Bug#889754: software-properties-gtk: Provide a GUI for multi-arch management

2018-02-06 Thread User
Package: software-properties-gtk
Version: 0.96.20.2-1
Severity: wishlist

Would it be possible to provide a user-friendly graphical interface to manage
multi-arch options?

For example, I would install Steam on Debian, but only an i386 package is
provided. The only way I can enable it is via a terminal command.

It woud also provide an easy way of seeing which arcs can be enabled, and which
are already.

Bug#889752: acetoneiso FTCBFS: lrelease fails, qmake invoked for the build architecture

2018-02-06 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: acetoneiso
Version: 2.4-3
Tags: patch
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

acetoneiso fails to cross build from source. The first issue is not a
hard failure, but is broken anyway: lrelease says

WARNING: Could not find qmake configuration file linux-g++.
lrelease error: cannot process project file 'acetoneiso/acetoneiso.pro'.

and exits successfully. Arguably, this looks like a policy 4.6
violation. In any case, adding qt5-qmake:native and
libqt5webkit5-dev:native to Build-Depends fixes this. Next up qmake is
run for the build architecture as cdbs' cross support is less than
working. Using dh_auto_configure fixes that. In the end it runs the
build architecture compiler g++ for linking. I guess that this last
issue is a problem that needs solving in debhelper or qmake. The
attached patch thus only addresses the first two aspects. Please
consider applying it and close this bug when doing so.

even though I'm sure it's the right PIN.

At that point I'm a little reluctant in doing another try because it's
the last one before I need to get my admin PIN.

I recommend proposing this fix for inclusion in the next stretch point

python2 entirely that are otherwise stuck with both installations.

The goal here is defense in depth. If a compromise of colord results in
scrambled color profiles, meh, i can accept it as the risk of running
colord. If a compromise of colord results in the adversary getting root

meaning that the check for "nocheck" in DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS in
