Bug#919960: sync packages

2019-01-21 Thread 積丹尼 Dan Jacobson
I guess there is no way to solve it currently,
as one part will get there faster than the other parts no matter what,
and the user will get a message that that part cannot be upgraded yet.
I guess unless another layer is added to the ftp server, saying wait for
all packages in the group to arrive, before letting users know via their
apt-get.

If you are still distributing the script with the bug, then I would
recommend:

a) check if the patch is now included upstream, if yes, close the bug, or

b) include the patch in the Debian package, or

c) stop installing the pygrub script in the package so that users have
to use pygrub2 or something else.

However, I migrated from Xen to KVM so I'm not using the package
personally any more.

Bug#880393: testing cyrus-sasl2 2.1.27+dfsg-1~exp1 (was: Re: nmuing cyrus-sasl2)

I spent a half-day hacking cyrus-sasl2 and I uploaded 2.1.27 to

chance to test it myself, so even the basic it installs and nothing
breaks horribly would help.

Thank you for spending some time working on the package! I have spent
some time looking at it this evening.

I noticed in debian/control that the Build-Depends lines for
libpod-pom-view-restructured-perl and python3-sphinx are indented with
mixed spaces and tabs.

I confirm that these bugs are fixed:
#880393 (MIT modules installed in heimdal pkg)
#919639 (man pages were empty -- please close this one in changelog)

These bugs still exist:
#917140 (changes from old NMUs silently dropped)
#917129 (unnecessary GSSAPI linking breaks slapd-smbk5pwd)

I already opened merge requests on salsa for these last two and am
rebasing them now; would you mind taking a look? #917129 in particular
would be great to have in buster as slapd-smbk5pwd is currently unusable
with heimdal.

I tested the following use cases:

* testsaslauthd with saslauthd using sasldb backend
* testsaslauthd with saslauthd using pam backend
* testsaslauthd with saslauthd using ldap backend
* testsaslauthd with saslauthd using kerberos5 backend
* EXTERNAL authentication to slapd
* GSSAPI authentication to slapd (heimdal module)
* GSSAPI authentication to slapd (MIT module)
* DIGEST-MD5 authentication to slapd (password stored in slapd)
* PLAIN authentication to slapd (password stored in slapd)
* PLAIN authentication to slapd with pass-through to saslauthd
* LOGIN authentication to slapd with pass-through to saslauthd

and all of those are working fine. I have not looked at the sql or otp
modules.

I also checked some man pages and the html docs (-doc package) briefly
and everything looked ok.

Thank you for working on cyrus-sasl2, and please consider adding the
patch for #917129 if you can. :)

Bug#919960: sync packages

2019-01-21 Thread Marc Haber
Hi Dan,

did you use reportbug to file this? If not, please do that in the future
as it shows which distribution and which architecture you're using.
Without that information, we can just guess what might have been
happened.

That being said, 4.92~RC4-3 was uploaded to unstable on January 20.
exim4-base is an architecture independent package and is thus quicker in
the archive than the packaged that need compiling. This is a normal
process in Debian, happens all the time and solves itself automatically.
It might also be a mirror sync issue, which a package maintainer is not
in a position tosolve.

You're using unstable, and have been doing so for a decade. And you
seriously still don't know this?

Greetings
Marc

Attached please check the screenshot when it failed to boot.

In addition, I use live-build 20180925 to create the secure boot ready
Debian Sid ISO with
lb config --uefi-secure-boot enable
and also included grub-efi-amd64-signed, shim-signed,
linux-image-4.19.0-1-amd64

However, the created live ISO also failed to boot with the same error.
If I turned off the secure boot in the BIOS, the created ISO can boot
successfully.

If you need more info, please let me know. Thanks.

I think I got stuff mixed up (hard to tell now as I deleted the 10+ GB
of build logs and artefacts I accumulated while testing various things
with your patch series and a couple of extra patches on top of it),
maybe because those warnings were moving around by a line or two in the
logs… Maybe that's why I thought they were new.

Putting the confusion aside, I pushed that to avoid the warnings:

https://salsa.debian.org/installer-team/debian-installer/commit/0b025d7f485ecf7ed8969068f98e49d3141d77fd

All in all, I'm not requesting you to do anything more on the d-i level
(there's been quite a lot of work already); just a mere suggestion to
maybe include an example of direct “gzip -n” specification for tar
invokations on the wiki, so that others don't have to look around how to
do that.

I don't plan to apply that patch; it was only meaning to serve as a
basis to double check there were no other reproducibility issues in the
gtk images.

OK. I think I'd prefer closing this very bug report whenever what's in
git gets uploaded (it's been a long run and thread already), and see
other issues discussed in a fresh bug report; would that work for you?

Ah right, pigz isn't in Build-Depends, so it's not included in the
.buildinfo file…

Right, for a development build (meaning without the generation of the
big debian-installer-images tarball), my gut feeling without specific
clocking data is that half the build time is spent waiting for gzip
to finish its work on a single core. Reproducibility is very nice but
I would definitely hate to lose this huge speed-up.

Right.

Not having looked into the format or tool(s) generating it, would it
be reasonable to have an opt-in mechanism so that a package could
declare “please record the state of this package that might or might not
be installed”. So that pigz could be registered in some way, akin to:
“not-really-in-build-depends-but-oh-look-it-was-present-at-version-X”

Thanks again for your valuable feedback.

2019-01-21 Thread Pino Toscano
Source: pigpio
Version: 1.68-2
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi,

pigpio seems to build fine with multiple build jobs when building.
Thus, my suggestion is to enable the parallel build (with the
--parallel option of dh) to speed up the compilation when requested
(see also Policy §4.9.1).

Thanks,

Hi,

After further investigations, it seems that the bug is related to:

> Jan 21 08:02:09 kernel: [0.00] Command line:
> BOOT_IMAGE=/install.amd/vmlinuz vga=788 initrd=/install.amd/initrd.gz ---

> keyboard-configuration/xkb-keymap=us

Which is a bit stupid: instead of passing many parameters on the
cmdline, we could just use 'auto url='

Still, there's a regression in d-i, when installing with
install preseed/url=https://blop.info/pub/preseed.cfg

With debian-buster-DI-alpha4-amd64-netinst.iso, the installer asks
questions about language, location, keyboard, hostname, and domainname,
but then proceeds until the end of the installation (which is expected).

With the current debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso, the installer asks
the same questions, proceeds with the installation, but then, near the
end, asks the 'Use a network mirror?' question as described in this bug.

Bug#920140: swi-prolog: fix dh_auto_* overriding

2019-01-21 Thread Pino Toscano
Source: swi-prolog
Version: 8.0.0+dfsg-3
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

Hi,

the current rules overrides dh_auto_configure, dh_auto_build, and
dh_auto_clean:
- dh_auto_configure just invokes cmake
- dh_auto_build just calls make
- dh_auto_clean just removes the build directory

What all of them do is already done by the standard cmake build system
of debhelper, so:
- specify the wanted build directory for dh, and dh_auto_configure
- pass only the additional cmake flags to dh_auto_configure, relying
on the standard flags (removing CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX, which is already
  set)
- do not specify cmake+ninja as buildsystem for debhelper: debhelper
already detects cmake, and ninja is not a build dependency (and thus
trying to use it will fail)

FWIW here's usually what's going on when udeb-producing packages are
blocked:
  https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2018/06/msg2.html

> I believe KiBi is working on a d-i release, which is probably what you

That's entirely correct. There were no prior notices sent to -boot@ or
-release@ this time because we seem to have enough Secure Boot pieces
ready to get that tested widely. I advocated for putting that into a
release instead of pointing to daily/weekly builds; hence the non ideal
situation on the coordination level.

In the past, I've personally vouched for a couple of packages that were
hold up by D-I preparations; I'm fine with doing that again in case a
reasonable update misses a deadline by a couple of days, due to a
lengthy, general block-udeb (even though those are generally rather
short, less than a week; until we get everything ready on the -boot
and -cd side).

Cheers,

Bug#920032: qemu-user uses wrong struct timeval on sparc

On sparc (only) Linux defines timeval::tv_usec with type int, not
long. However qemu-user's definition of struct target_timeval uses
abi_long unconditionally. This results in the syscall translation
layer effectively multiplying tv_usec by 2**32. All sparc syscalls
passing non-zero values for this field fail with -EINVAL. The
following patch seems to fix this.

is that there is a LOAD segment with a file-size of 0 (i.e. only BSS,
no initialised data). load_elf_image() will try to mmap() initialised
data for this section even though there is none and a length of 0 is
invalid.

The change that seems to fix this is to skip the mmap() in this case:

I tried amiwm and fvvm through sddm and using xterm GTK and GNOME applications

The only error message I could capture is the error above when trying to launch

I would appriciate any advice. Thank you very much.

Sorry for the long silence. That's certainly unexpected. The "tk"

Are you still able to reproduce this? What is the output of

As you may have guessed, Git relies on libcurl for its certificate
checking, so moving to that package for triage. This is most likely
related to gnutls, not libcurl, but that seems as good a place as any
to try to produce a minimal testcase using gnutls-bin.

https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2014/11/msg01358.html says it is
due to the gnutls26 -> gnutls28 switch but describes a test case using
curl still.

https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2014/12/msg00030.html describes
a way that libcurl could provide this feature using modern gnutls.

https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2014/12/msg00129.html describes
a way that libgnutls could support this use case without libcurl
changes.

Do you experience the same issue still today?

Sorry I missed this when you first sent it. Hopefully we can tie
this loose end (either by passing the request upstream or documenting
the change).

Sincerely,
Jonathan

Thanks Yarik, but too late ;)

Anyway, I have a patch (see below) that appears to work. I'll be rolling a

Interesting. I didn't notice this.
I honestly don't know where the << 1.1 is coming from...
From the build log:
D: dh_python3 fs:243: package python3-alembic details = {'ext_vers': set(),

'python3-editor'}; R=[]; S=[]; E=[], B=[]; RT=[]

The >= 1.0 is due to that version being what is set in d/control.

Forcing a build with the version of sqlalchemy in stretch-bpo makes it
become
D: dh_python3 depends:272: D={'python3:any (>= 3.3.2-2~)', 'python3-mako',
'python3-editor', 'python3-sqlalchemy (>= 0.9.0)', 'python3-dateutil'}; R=[];
S=[]; E=[], B=[]; RT=[]

(ignoring d/control?).

Which, btw, is fine, since mailman3 does not require alembic > 1.

I think it should be moved under alembic, yes.

Look better, it has a tag debian/1.0.0-2_bpo9+1 :)
I don't like branches for single no-changes rebuilds. Also, sources.d.o
would also allow you to have a (quite more authoritative) look at the
sources.

Now, bumping the build-dep to cause a more loose dependency to be
generated feels wrong to me, so I'd rather have somebody figure out
where that << 1 is coming from before doing that...

Hi Andreas,

The version of the package in the bug is found in jessie (oldstable)
and doesn't exist in stretch (stable) or buster (testing). Also, I
believe the problem is with the version of default-jre-headless in
jessie, given that the Depends hasn't changed since 2012.

Are you requesting that the bug be addressed for jessie? (Do we need to
open a RC-severity bug for oldstable right before the buster freeze?)

Thanks,
tony

Unfortunately, this doesn't work. /var/lib/supervise/git-daemon ought
to contain a definition of a supervise service, whereas this produces
an empty directory so it still fails.

Do you have more details? Why was this approach expected to work, and
where can I read more about what changed in runit and how to
appropriately adjust this package to handle the changes?

By the way, was there a change in runit precipitating this regression?
I'm wondering so that we can set up the right dependencies (e.g. a
versioned Breaks from runit) to ensure upgrades proceed smoothly.

This way, the same behavior as the previous release will persist for
users expecting it (in particular, allowing users to easily decide
which configuration will control their running daemon --- see [1] for
more context). That said, I'm happy to pursue a merge of the packages
into a git-daemon package in experimental in preparation for buster+1,
especially if there's a standard for runit service packaging that we
can follow there.

Thanks again for your help.

Bug#920136: libgnutls30: symbol lookup error...undefined symbol: __gmpz_limbs_write

2019-01-21 Thread James Van Zandt
Package: libgnutls30
Version: 3.6.5-2
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Dear Maintainer,

Sun 20 Jan 2019 10:25:49 PM EST

I upgraded several packages on Jan 16. Since then, many programs
(including cupsd, apt-get, and apt) fail like this:

  /usr/lib/apt/methods/http: symbol lookup error:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgnutls.so.30: undefined symbol:
__gmpz_limbs_write

The file comes in this package:
  libgnutls30: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgnutls.so.30

I have two copies of this package installed:
  jrv@home:/usr/local/src/octave/octave-4.4.1$ dpkg -l libgnutls30
  Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
  |
Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
  |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
  ||/ Name  Version  Architecture Description

+++-=---==

runtime library
  ii libgnutls30:i386 3.6.5-2 i386 GNU TLS library - main
runtime library

...corresponding to the two architectures installed here:

  jrv@home:~/Downloads$ dpkg --print-architecture
  amd64
  jrv@home:~/Downloads$ dpkg --print-foreign-architectures
  i386

I found a partial workaround, as follows:

I found libgnutls30 packages of version 3.5.19 in my backups.
Installing just the amd64 package (with dpkg) failed:
package libgnutls30:amd64 3.5.19-1 cannot be configured because
libgnutls30:i386 is at a different version (3.6.5-2)

However, installing both architectures together succeeded:
  $ dpkg -l libgnutls30
  Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
  |
Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
  |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
  ||/ Name  Version  Architecture Description

+++-=---==

runtime library
  ii libgnutls30:i386 3.5.19-1 i386 GNU TLS library - main
runtime library

cupsd will now run (so I can print again).

apt-get also runs, but complains about versions being out of sync:

I suspect a missing dependency, but I've not been able to identify it.
Evidently some libraries are out of sync, but I can't be sure which package
should be held responsible. Since apt-get is affected, I think the problem
qualifies as "critical".

My attempts to track down the problem follow...

The handshake fails, because gnutls doesn't accept the security level
offered by the handshake.

It seems to me the issue is in the next test: t->send is called, and
send is defined as a looping function until the decrypted content is
received. As the handshake previously failed, t->send waits forever.

I guess the tests should have a timeout method.

Anyway, increasing the security of the handshake would make it work and
hence the current issue should be gone.

I found out that a new upstream release includes fixes the security
issue I mentioned before. Attempting to build this release works fine
and the tests are passing without hanging.

I'm not certain whether the fix is due to the addition of
'gnutls_certificate_set_x509_system_trust( m_credentials );' to
tlsgnutlsclient.cpp or to the changes made to
'gnutls_priority_set_direct' in tlsgnutls{server,client}anon.cpp.

This looks good to me.

Vincent, I made a NMU branch which is just a fast-forward of master on
the salsa repo[0]. The branch name is 1.0.22-0.1

If you agree, I shall do an upload. Otherwise I'll let you taking care
of it.

Best regards,

My bad, I messed up my commands.

Cc-ing Mattia as he released alembic in bpo.

Mattia, python3-alembic depends on python3-sqlalchemy << 1.1 but I can't
see anything about this in d/changelog or d/control in alembic. I can't
actually find the << 1.1 condition anywhere.

Do you know why it is here? Where does it come from? Salsa doesn't seem
to have any track of a stretch-backports branch.

Bug#919727: cmtk /dcmtk

2019-01-21 Thread Torsten Rohlfing
Hi there -

Upstream owner of CMTK here. It looks like DCMTK in release 3.6.4 changed
their API for locking/unlocking the global data dictionary.

I am going to look into fixing this, but it'll take a while since I'll have
to set up a suitable Debian VM for testing first.

Best,

Hi Mikaela,

This is worrying behaviour, definitely. Updating Windows should *not*
be affecting your system in this way, clearly. I'm not 100% sure, but
what you're describing sounds like it *could* be a problem with UEFI
Secure Boot. We don't (quite) have Secure Boot working in Debian, so
you would have had to disable it to get Debian working in the first
place.

Has the Windows update somehow re-enabled Secure Boot? Could you check
in yor firmware/BIOS settings please?

Looking at upstream source, I see no language specific template files
provided.

My guess would be that such template files would have to be created by
members of the community and provided to upstream.

Did I miss something?

If you wish I can poke upstream and ask more intel.

Bug#920024: Doesn't parse package architectures correctly when any-amd64 is used (etc.)

Yeah, the data model includes a list of architectures by source package
and the parsing keeps only entries which are real architectures, the
architecture wildcards are just not handled.

Extract from distro_tracker/core/retrieve_data.py:

# Convert the parsed data into corresponding model instances
if 'architectures' in entry:
# Map the list of architecture names to their objects
# Discards any unknown architectures.
entry['architectures'] = Architecture.objects.filter(
name__in=entry['architectures'])

I think we don't have any code in the tracker to handle architecture wildcard
and try to do any mapping or expansion. Given the data model, that's we should
aim to do here. Creating all the possible wildcards would be wrong, instead we
want to process the list of architectures that the tracker knows of and see
whether it matches the wildcards listed in the source package field.

Cheers,

Bug#864602: Not enough information

2019-01-21 Thread Aleksey Kravchenko
Hello,

this bug report is still has not enough information. To narrow down the
problem, we need a stacktrace. To get it, one need to run the program under
gdb with extundelete debug package installed.

Such report would be much better if the program be recompiled from sources
without optimization:

DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS='noopt debug' debuild -uc -us

and then run under gdb:

sudo gdb -ex run --args ./extundelete --restore-directory /user/bin/storage
/dev/sdb1

Nevertheless, I've investigated the bug a bit and here is what I found.

1. First, I've viewed the source code for the cause of the error message:

> *** Error in `extundelete': double free or corruption (!prev):
> 0x01a95000 ***

and did not found any double deallocations, only an insignificant memory
leak at cli.cc:346.

So the most probable cause of the message is a *heap corruption*, due to
some out-of-bounds access (buffer overrun/underrun).

2. Another suspect is the src/block.c source file:

> * This file was modified from e2fsprogs lib/ext2fs/block.c and extent.c
> * These modifications allow undeletion with libext2fs 1.39 to 1.42.6,
> * and possibly newer versions.

Unstable currently has libext2fs-dev 1.44.5, so may be extundelete is
linked against incompatible version of libext2fs.

3. Since extundelete is a pretty old program (last commit is on
2013-01-03), may be it just has bad support for modern ext4.

Description-en: utility to choose profiles in Mutt
A profile in Mutt is simply a specific subset of the configuration. You may
have a personal and a work profile, each of which uses the same base
configuration and then overrides specific configuration items like the email
 address.
 .
muttprofile gives an easy way to switch between such profiles from within
a running instance of Mutt. Quite simple and quite beautiful, and implemented
 in perl.

pngcheck verifies the integrity of PNG, JNG and MNG files (by checking the
internal 32-bit CRCs or checksums) and optionally dumps almost all of the
chunk-level information in the image in human-readable form. For example, it
can be used to print the basic stats about an image (dimensions, bit depth,
etc.); to list the color and transparency info in its palette; or to extract
the embedded text annotations. All PNG and JNG chunks are supported, plus
almost all MNG chunks (everything but PAST, DISC, tERm, DROP, DBYK, and
ORDR). This is a command-line program with batch capabilities (e.g.,
 pngcheck *.png).
 .
Also includes pngsplit which can split a PNG, MNG or JNG file into
 individual, numbered chunks.

Description-en: utility to test color capabilities of terminal
Most terminals are capable of displaying 16 colors; 8 colors and 2
different brightness values, some (like xterm) can display more, even
 256 colors.
 .
The program automatically detects 8, 16, 88, 256 color capabilities
(via ncurses) and displays the appropriate color charts. Program can
display the colors as blocks or 2d cubes optionally with color values
overlaid in int or hex values, it can show the full rgb text string
and show the display with a vertical (default) or horizontal
 orientation.
 .
In addition to the color charts it can also convert between 256 and
88 color values. This can be useful when converting various terminals
 like between urxvt and xterm-256.
 .
The goal of this program was to provide the functionality of all the
various Perl and sh scripts in one place with some bells and whistles.

Dear Sampo,

Thanks for the report.

I agree it's not worth a big trouble, but still, this would be a nice thing
to advertise our end users even in backports. When I met the issue myself, I
found out the workaround, and I thought about a way to advertise end users.

I'll release something this evening.

Description-en: convert between Mac and UNIX font formats
Fondu is a set of programs to convert between Mac font formats and
PFB, TTF, OTF and BDF files on UNIX.
 .
Fondu will read a series of mac files, check their resource forks and
extract all font related items into separate files.
 .
The input files may be either macbinary files (.bin), binhex files
(.hqx), bare mac resource forks or data fork resource files (.dfont,
used by Mac OS/X). A bare resource fork may be generated easily be
copying a file with a resource fork onto a floppy (or zip) with a DOS
format. The mac will create an (invisible on the mac) folder called
resource.frk in which the resource fork will reside as a bare file.

Bug#920116: u-boot-exynos: broken console setting on odroid-U3

2019-01-21 Thread Vagrant Cascadian
Package: u-boot-exynos
Version: 2019.01+dfsg-1
Severity: important

Upstream reverted a patch that was present in all v2018.x u-boot
versions that sets the console variable to include the console=
argument, so boot scripts will set console=console=ttyAC1,115200 instead
of console=ttyAC1,115200.

https://git.denx.de/?p=u-boot.git;a=commit;h=767edf0f6b3eaa0303f3fd6afdc14ddce0aca70c

In order for platforms to behave consistantly on Debian, Debian's u-boot
package should re-apply the patch (which was carried in one form or
another for prior Debian u-boot-exynos packages)...

Interestingly enough, as of stretch's kernel, odroid-U3 doesn't need to
set a console= argument at all, linux will get the appropriate values
from the device-tree.

Bug#920117: stop-bootlogd: It starts too early

2019-01-21 Thread Bjarni Ingi Gislason
Package: bootlogd
Version: 2.93-3
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

the "bootlogd" should stop as late as possible to catch all output from
the booting process.

Currently it is in the time slot "02" but the last boot script is
"rc.local" in "04".

The "Required-Start" in "/etc/init.d/stop-bootlogd" should be changed
from "$local_fs" to "$all" (same as for "rc.local") to start it as the
last script.

Bug#911731: packagekitd: random crash (SIGABRT) during unattended-upgrades minimal steps upgrade

2019-01-21 Thread Stephan Hohe
Hi,

I also saw a crash with this stack trace and investigated. The crash
happens when warnings are passed from apt to packagekit. It seems like
destruction of temporaries in show_error() gets messed up for -O2.

The function doesn't return a value despite being declared as bool,
which is technically undefined behavior and might confuse the optimizer (?).
Changing the function return type to void fixed the crash for me, see this
upstream pull request:

https://github.com/hughsie/PackageKit/pull/306

The javadoc tool isn’t, and this breaks all builds.

Thank you. That shows the same failure reported in bug#910295, so I am
now merging this report with that one.

Yes, that is caused by bug#919599, reported when the cause of this one
was investigated. Fixing this bug is blocked by bug#919599.

Fortunately, there is already a fix for bug#919599 pending release of
a new 'python3-httpretty' package, as noted in that bug report.

Description-en: Heuristic Email Address Tracker Utility for Spamassassin
 Check or clean the SpamAssassin auto-whitelist (AWL) database file;
also called the SpamAssassin Heuristic Email Address Tracker file.
 .
The Auto-WhiteList feature in Spamassassing tracks scores from
messages previously received and adjusts the message score, either by
boosting messages from senders who send ham or penalizing senders who
have sent spam previously. This not only treats some senders as if
they were whitelisted but also treats spammers as if they were
 blacklisted.
 .
This and enhanced version of the original AWL tool. The AWL database
can be examined and pruned; single email entries can be removed. This
is useful when a spammer sends one or more ham messages before
 sending spam.

Maintainer: Jari Aalto
Architecture: amd64
Depends: libc6 (>= 2.7)
Description-en: steganography using ASCII files
This utility can conceal messages in ASCII text by appending
whitespace to the end of lines. Because spaces and tabs are generally
not visible in text viewers, the message is effectively hidden from
casual observers. And if the built-in encryption is used, the message
cannot be read even if it is detected.
 .
About the name: locating trailing whitespace in text is like finding
a polar bear in a snowstorm. And it uses the ICE encryption
algorithm, so the name is thematically consistent.
