Bug#934015: O: asciidoc -- Highly configurable text format for writing documentation

2019-08-05 Thread Joseph Herlant
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the asciidoc package.

The package description is:
AsciiDoc is a text document format for writing articles, books, manuals and
UNIX man pages. AsciiDoc files can be translated to HTML (with or without
stylesheets), DocBook (articles, books and refentry documents) and LinuxDoc
using the asciidoc command. AsciiDoc can also be used to build and maintain
 websites.
 .
You write an AsciiDoc document the same way you would write a
normal text document, there are no markup tags or weird format notations.
AsciiDoc files are designed to be viewed, edited and printed directly or
 translated to other presentation formats
 .
This metapackage provides a fully functionnal asciidoc environment working
 with dblatex for historical purposes.

Currently there's a work to move it to python3 but it's not been released yet:

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'testing'.
It installed fine in 'testing', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
Breaks+Replaces relation.

Ah yes, something went wrong with committing/pushing that to git. My
guess is that you didn't install from unstable and built the package
yourself. I'll fix it in git/salsa, but if you do "apt-get changelog
gamemode" you'll see the version in unstable has the change.

Bug#853827: tracker-extract: Could not insert metadata for item

2019-08-05 Thread Mike Paul
Package: tracker-extract
Version: 2.1.6-1
Followup-For: Bug #853827

This happens to me as well, and it fills up my /var partition with endless
syslog errors from repeatedly trying to index .ogg files. My /var/log/messages
is full of lines like:

Aug 6 00:33:50 magus tracker-extract[27409]: Could not insert metadata for
item
"file:///home/mike/Music/CD%20Rips/Katamari%20Fortissimo%20Damacy/Katamari%20Fortissimo%20Damacy%20-%2006%20-%20Lonely%20Rolling%20Star.ogg":

Aug 6 00:33:50 magus tracker-extract[27409]: If the error above is recurrent
for the same item/ID, consider running "tracker-extract" in the terminal with
the TRACKER_VERBOSITY=3 environment variable, and filing a bug with the

...over and over for different files. If I "tail -f" the log, I see screenfuls
of these messages go by very quickly, then it pauses for a few seconds, then
more screenfuls of the same messages. The periods of log activity match the
"extracting metadata" activity shown by running "tracker daemon -f".

Running "TRACKER_VERBOSITY=3 tracker extract" on the file identified in the
message above, it shows:

I don't see any mention of the offending UUID from the error message.

These messages fill my /var partition within a day due to growth of
/var/log/messages, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/user.log, which I think
qualifies as severity: critical.

Is there a way to disable this Tracker thing? It seems to automatically and
silently (well, except the logspam) try to index all my files, which I neither
need nor want. Disabling the "Files" toggle in the "Search" section of GNOME
Settings did not stop it. Neither did disabling GNOME's search entirely.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your fast response. I updated gamemode, libgamemode0 and
libgamemodeauto0 to 1.4+git20190722.4ecac89-2 but that didn't change
anything. I still need to set the launch option. I'm not experienced

that you pushed new tags. Shouldn't there be a commit to re-enabling the
daemon?

Yes, it works by docutils writer.  Generated html are correct.

problem was only the & character without amp; and gtk pango markup machine.

You can try it ;)

I'm not sure that the commit linked above is the correct fix, instead
the markdown to HTML converter should be generating correct HTML.

In addition, the ampersand isn't the only character that needs to be
escaped when converting text to HTML:

This looks to be the critical fix. I will merge this change.

This change does two things. It removes -s from flock and it adds logging.

The -s seems to allow multiple ntpdate-debian processes to run
simultaneously, which seems bad. It seems like a correct change to
remove that, though it makes me wonder why it was there in the first
place. (This code was inherited from the ntp package.)

Are you getting interesting logging when ntpdate-debian runs?

Bug#934013: boost-defaults: Boost license file is not found

2019-08-05 Thread Ryo IGARASHI
Source: boost-defaults
Version: 1.67.0.1
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 4.5

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

Dear Maintainer,

Every boost packages, libboost*, contains debian/copyright file
which says:

```
copyright & license for Boost-Defaults for Debian.
The license for Boost itself may be found in file
/usr/share/doc/libboost-doc/HTML/LICENSE_1_0.txt
```

However, even if I installed libboost-doc package, the above path does
not exist at all. I cannot find the license for Boost itself.

I believe that the license for Boost itself should
also be available when only one e.g. libboost-test1.67 package is
installed.

P.S. I know that The license for the original Boost is the same as the
license for Boost-Defaults for Debian so that editing the wording might
be enough.

Dear Maintainer,

'man ansible-lint' shows default rules are available under
/usr/local/lib/python3.5/dist-packages/ansiblelint/rules
instead of
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/ansiblelint/rules
where 'dpkg -L ansible-lint' shows.

I attached the patch which fix this problem in asciidoc format
of the mapage.

Thanks for the update. The same problem occurred when I upgraded to
8.15.2-13 on my two testing (bullseye) boxes. Deleting the
/var/run/sendmail/mta/sendmail.pid file and re-running aptitude fixed it.

Sadly, I wasn't smart enough to get the details on the file before I
deleted it. I'm not even certain why it was there: I would have thought
that shutting down sendmail before the upgrade should have deleted it.
Perhaps this was the problem all along.

After getting sendmail started, the file looks like this:

> -rw-r- 1 root  smmta  53 Aug  5 22:14 sendmail.pid

Thanks,

xzgv 0.9.2-2 has been uploaded, and it's been converted to use dh.
Can you verify whether or not the cross build problems are still
present with xzgv? I *think* dh/debhelper should handle fixing CC
automatically, right? I suppose we might need use special handling
for pkg-config?

I kept the old packaging scheme by separating 'assaultcube (contrib) [1]' and
'assaultcube-data (non-free) [2]' without violating copyright.

Bug#934008: mlterm: Remove fonts-baekmuk from Suggests

Hello,

Please remove fonts-baekmuk from Suggests. The baekmuk fonts are old and lead
to undesirable result in modern displays.

I skimmed mlterm source code and I found no direct reference to the Baekmuk
fonts. So it seems that fonts-baekmuk is suggested as one Korean font.
Then I suggest to use fonts-noto-cjk | fonts-nanum instead.

I'm not sure that the commit linked above is the correct fix, instead
the markdown to HTML converter should be generating correct HTML.

In addition, the ampersand isn't the only character that needs to be

Is the bit required? With a view toward security, it seems
disadvantageous to grant execution privileges to files not intended to
run in Debian. I checked both the UEFI [1] and the systemd boot [2]
specs, but found nothing about the executable bit. I planned to unset
the bit locally until I realized my GRUB2 boot sequence may not use
those files.

the hope that it helps getting that upgrade off the ground.

Bug#933370: chrony won't start

2019-08-05 Thread Vincent Blut

Control: merge -1 883241
Control: reassign -1 systemd
Control: tags -1 - moreinfo

Dear systemd maintainers,

We have found out in #902026 that the use of “Conflicts=” does not
prevent systemd-timesyncd and chrony to run at the same time, those two
bug reports that I’m reassigning to systemd seem to also be related to
the way the “Conflicts=” setting works.

What we currently have in Stretch and Buster is:
   - systemd-timesyncd runs by default unless another NTP daemon is
installed on the system through the use of the
 “ConditionFileIsExecutable=” condition.

   - all the other implementations of the NTP protocol conflict with
 systemd-timesyncd.

The current state of affairs seems to render both systemd-timesyncd and
chrony becoming inactive on some systems. Concerning systemd-timesyncd,
this is not surprising as “ConditionFileIsExecutable=!/usr/sbin/chronyd”
is obviously not met.
To make chrony active at startup on those systems, one has to either
completely disable systemd-timesyncd or override chrony’s unit file to
drop the “Conflicts=systemd-timesyncd.service” setting.

Thankfully there is some work done¹ upstream which may improve the
situation.

Thank you for testing Ross.

>I did systemctl disable systemd-timesyncd and now chrony runs (and
>stays running) on startup.

Disabling systemd-timesyncd was guaranteed enough to succeed. That shows
that chrony is probably not at fault here. However, before merging this
bug report with #883241 and reassigning them to systemd, I would really
appreciate if you could check what’s happening by removing
systemd-timesyncd.service from the “Conflicts=” line in the chrony unit
file.

Note that I would totally understand that you refuse to run some tests
again! I certainly do not want to burden you.

If you accept to run these tests, then:

# Reenable systemd-timesyncd
# systemctl enable systemd-timesyncd.service

# Edit chrony’s unit file
# systemctl edit --full chrony.service

That will invoke an editor. From there, remove
“systemd-timesyncd.service” from the “Conflicts=” line. Save & exit!

I did this, also inserting the
  Wants=time-sync.target
  Before=time-sync.target
directives into the new file. I left the override file that has those
directives too; not sure if it gets checked if I've overridden the
whole file.

It does. Look for the “Drop-In:” line when running:
$ systemctl status chrony.service

Alternatively, you can get a list of *.conf files in drop-in directories
by running:

$ systemd-delta --type extended

# Restart the system and report chrony’s status here (ditto for
systemd-timesyncd)

See attached, which was done with systemd.log_type=debug. It also
gives the contents of the configuration files.

It worked properly: chrony was active on startup.

Thanks again!

Ross

Vincent

You can reassign the bug report:
https://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control#reassign

(I also had basically this same problem when upgrading to buster with
my system which uses an Intel i915 graphics controller, and your
report helped me figure out that creating a new xorg.conf fixes it, so
thanks for that.)

I've never seen this issue before. This smells like a driver problem to me.
Is the problem the long interface name or the fact that the interface
has been renamed?

Could you create a file /etc/systemd/network/70-wifi.link containing:
[Match]
MACAddress=90:4c:81:01:76:00

[Link]
Name=wifi0

(run update-initramfs -u and reboot)
Is the problem still reproducible then?
What if you make the Name= longer bit by bit
wifi01, wifi012, wifi0123 etc.

Why is this a bug in systemd then?
If ld creates those files with the executable bit set, it feels weird
that we have to work around that by manually removing that bit again.

Bug#933858: I do not understand

2019-08-05 Thread Ramón García
What is the intended purpose of sysadm_t?

If the root user logs in the console, the context is
unconfined_u:unconfined_r:unconfined_t. If some user sudo to root,
that might be allowed or not, but if allowed, shouldn't the session
have the same rights as a root session? Otherwise, what is expected
from sudo is broken.

The same reasoning for su: doing su to root may be allowed or not,
depending on the user. But if allowed, shouldn't the session have the
same unrestricted permissions as a root session?

I believed that the purpose of sysadm_u was to determinate what users
can su/sudo to root+unconfined_t.

Bug#934004: ITP: golang-starlark -- Interpreter for the Starlark configuration language

2019-08-05 Thread Emanuel Krivoy
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Emanuel Krivoy

* Package name: golang-starlark
  Version : 0.0~git20190717.fc7a7f4-1
Upstream Author : The Bazel Authors
* URL : https://github.com/google/starlark-go
* License : BSD-3-clause
  Programming Lang: Go
Description : Interpreter for the Starlark configuration language

Starlark is a dialect of Python intended for use as a configuration language.
Like Python, it is an untyped dynamic language with high-level data types,
first-class functions with lexical scope, and garbage collection. Unlike
CPython, independent Starlark threads execute in parallel, so Starlark
workloads scale well on parallel machines. Starlark is a small and simple
language with a familiar and highly readable syntax. You can use it as an
expressive notation for structured data, defining functions to eliminate
repetition, or you can use it to add scripting capabilities to an existing
application.

A Starlark interpreter is typically embedded within a larger application, and
the application may define additional domain-specific functions and data types
beyond those provided by the core language

This library is a dependency of delve (github.com/go-delve/delve, ITP in
#932835). If possible I'd like this package to be co-mantained/sponsored by the
Go Team.

Bug#934003: RFP: rget -- download URLs and verify the contents against a publicly recorded cryptographic log

2019-08-05 Thread Francois Marier
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: rget
  Version : 0.0.7
  Upstream Author : Brandon Philips
* URL : https://github.com/merklecounty/rget
* License : Apache-2
  Programming Lang: Go
Description : download URLs and verify the contents against a publicly
recorded cryptographic log

rget downloads URLs and verifies the contents against a publicly recorded
cryptographic log. The public log gives users of rget a number of useful
properties:

- Verifiability of a downloaded URL's contents being identical to what the
  rest of the world sees

- Searchability of recorded content changes of a URL

- Notifications to any interested party about changes to the URLs contents

In practice the way the system works is a URL owner will publish the
cryptographic digests at a URL adjacent to the content a rget user is
downloading. The rget tool will download the digest and verify this digest
appears in the Certificate Transparency log via a specially crafted DNS
name.

Dear Maintainer,

here is a patch to add support for Runit initialization system.
While writing the runscript I took a look at both the old sysv script
and systemd unit. The sysv script has two tests that I omitted in
the runscript

> ( /usr/sbin/sshd -\? 2>&1 | grep -q OpenSSH ) 2>/dev/null || exit 0

>if [ ! -c /dev/null ]; then
>

I'm not sure, are those still relevant?
Also, note that the 'since=1:8.0p1-5' option in the openssh-server.runit file
should match the version that actually adds the runscript.

the git patch is attached, and there is also a MR on salsa
https://salsa.debian.org/ssh-team/openssh/merge_requests/7

If you need more details please ask

Thanks,
Lorenzo

Ah yes, I can see why that happens, re-enabling the daemon in
gamemode_1.4+git20190722.4ecac89-2 - which should hit unstable in a few
hours.

Bug#933997: gamemode isn't automatically activated for rise of the tomb raider

2019-08-05 Thread at46
Just saw that I forgot to update libgamemode0 and libgamemodeauto0. I
did that now rebooted and tried again. Same result. I need to set
gamemoderun %command% as launchoption or gamemode isn't active in RotTR.

ITPs are filed against the pseudo-package wnpp, not against a

Dear Maintainer,

Rise of the Tomb Raider is one of the few games which should automatically
activate gamemode. But if I start the game through steam gamemoded -s says that
gamemode is inactive. If I set the launchoption "gamemoderun %command%"
gamemoded -s reports that gamemode is active.

That's my understanding too. In this case I'm pretty sure the binaries
are not getting linked against extra libraries. Maybe in larger project
it could be helpful to have a final prune of eventual extra libs.

Do you suggest dropping those extra flags?

Bug#927165: luks 2 in Buster

2019-08-05 Thread Jack Feuerkogel
Hello,

I just wanted to mention, that this situation of version-change, from
luks 1 to luks 2, makes a multi-boot Stretch-Buster impossible - at
least in my situation.

I had sda1 as /boot, sda2 as encrypted Stretch (luks 1), Grub in MBR and
installed Buster (I used the XFCE4-installation-CD) encrypted (luks 2)
to sda3 (all primary Partitions). Now the fact is, that I cannot start
Stretch on sda2 anymore, not with the installed Grub, nor with any
"Rescuedisks", or similar...

I had to chroot in Stretch, install Grub from there again and build the
"initram.img" new, e.g. update it with "dpkg-reconfigure cryptsetup"
afterwards - now I can start Stretch again, but not at all Buster...

Theres also a second bug about this: after installation of Buster, I can
see "cryptsetup" as package installed, but I cannot fetch the command in
a terminal (as root). Neighter "cryptsetup"-command, nor
"dpkg-reconfigure"-command is available in terminal, even if the
packages are shown as installed.

But if I use the XFCE4-installation-CD in "rescue/repair-mode" on sda3
(Buster) as root, these commands are available again...

Greetings, Jack

It would be nice if this config option could be included for future builds.

It seems to be available since 1.11.5 according to

I was happy to see that you already adopted the package, it just looks
like the changelog entry was not formatted correctly to close this
bug.
It is also an established practice to work with the same mentor who
sponsor all the uploads and help improving by giving feedback on the
packaging changes.
I see Adam sponsored the previous upload thus he would be a more
natural choice and I'm wondering if he would like to keep sponsoring

Bug#933993: FTBFS because depends on lwt.syntax

2019-08-05 Thread Stéphane Glondu
Source: ocaml-usb

Hello,

As lwt is a key package and because of [1], its camlp4 dependency has
been removed, removing lwt.syntax. Now, ocaml-usb FTBFS because it depends
on lwt.syntax.

Please provide an ocaml-usb package that does not depend on lwt.syntax or,
better, on camlp4.

You're right, of course. I jumped to that conclusion due to the error
message "failed to initialize build cache".

I don't know why my first build succeeded -- now I can reproduce the
FTBFS :-(

However, I think I have found the solution for golang-1.12 (very similar
to dh-golang). I'm currently building the package and will upload the
fix soon.

Bug#933991: src:libxcomposite: depends on empty transitional package x11proto-composite-dev

2019-08-05 Thread Ferenc Wágner

Dear Maintainer,

x11proto-composite-dev is a "transitional dummy package" by its
description, and indeed empty, but I can't remove it from my system
because libxcomposite-dev depends on it (and the libxcomposite source
package build-depends on it). Please consider dropping this dependency.
(BTW, there are similar problems with the other x11proto-*-dev dummy
packages, libx11(-dev) depends on some of them, etc.)

Bug#933987: openvpn-systemd-resolved: update-systemd-resolved.conf confuses openvpn@.service

2019-08-05 Thread David Bremner

I'm not sure if this is a but in openvpn or in this package, but the
presence of update-systemd-resolved.conf in /etc/openvpn confuses the
(old) openvpn@.service template, which thinks it represents a network

This leads to an endless attempt to start the network on boot (by default,

The golang compiler doesn't build depends dh-golang. So any change in
dh-golang won't fix the compiler itself.

Bug#933985: cups: Fix retrospectively CVE id for CVE-2018-4300 in debian/changelog

2019-08-05 Thread Salvatore Bonaccorso
Source: cups
Version: 2.2.10-1
Severity: minor

Hi

There was confusion and typo on one CVE id for a CVE-2018-4300. See
https://github.com/apple/cups/issues/5561 for details (the CVE id was
later on as well fixed retrospectively upstream in NEWS/changelogs).

To avoid confusions, and if this fits the printing team packaging
practices, could you rectify the CVE identifier mentioned in the
debian/changelog as well? Otherwise feel free to mark this one as
wontfix and close it.

Salvatore

appear to have the same version of nx-libs currently.

I am sorry, you are right, I haven't kept the correct upload order.
For unstable, I am currently preparing a 2:3.5.99.21-1 upload (all
patches applied in that release).

So far I remember the folder in /etc was the old default before 8.6.x,
but we didn't updated the AppArmor profile for the server accordingly
after that change.

I will now fix the use of yaml.load() for compatibility with pyyaml 5.1
(by uploading the new upstream release to unstable), but the new version
will still use unsafe_load(). Please see this upstream change:

https://github.com/Python-Markdown/markdown/pull/806

As the upstream comment explains, “We use unsafe_load because users may
need to pass in actual Python objects. As this is only available from
the CLI, the user has much worse problems if an attacker can use this
as an attack vector”.

2019-08-05 Thread Evrard, Benjamin
It is indeed the same bug and the proposed workaround works fine.

Still, I think that the choice of compiling the corresponding driver
as a module instead of embedding it in the kernel is a decision that
will impact many users when they upgrade their plug device from Debian
Stretch to Buster.

Most of them are bound to meet the same issue.

Any chance this choice would be reconsidered?

Bug#933981: cdrom: USB, KVM create connect/disconnect loop in level1 (repair) install

2019-08-05 Thread Tom Sullivan
Package: cdrom
Severity: grave
Tags: d-i
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I had another machine that gave kernel panic while upgrading from Stretch to
Buster. Use of Graphical install was also a problem during re-install due to
destroyed system. (I reported this issue in another report.) Thus, I chose to
upgrade an identical machine from level 1 (Debain Repair in GRUB2 boot menu).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

The scrolling log in the command line display showed repeated
connect/disconnect loops for USB devices (of many kinds). This applied also to
USB mice and keyboards connected via KVM.

For what it was worth, I used a local cache of the DVDs on the machine's hard
drive.

Unplugged all USB, plugged in single USB keyboard only, and directly, not via
KVM.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Upgraded fine with just the keyboard directly plugged into USB.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Correct handling of USB, without issues.

Bug#933982: bash: normalize video with ffmpeg corrupts variable bash in the while/done loop

2019-08-05 Thread Antonio
Package: bash
Version: 5.0-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
today, while I was writing a script for normalize video, I noticed a
strange interaction between "while ... done" (bash script) and program
"ffmpeg".

Here is a simple example to reproduce the problem.

# get a simple video mp4 for testing
wget -c http://techslides.com/demos/sample-videos/small.mp4

# copy url in a variable
url="http://techslides.com/demos/sample-videos/small.mp4;

# create a variable by repeating this line (separating the url with a space)
manyurl="$url $url $url $url $url $url $url $url $url $url $url $url
$url $url $url $url $url $url $url $url"

# convert to a variable containing the same url as lines for test and display it
manyurl_lines="$(for x in $manyurl; do echo $x; done)"
echo -e "$manyurl_lines"

# output (as expected)http://techslides.com/demos/sample-videos/small.mp4
...http://techslides.com/demos/sample-videos/small.mp4

# if I now normalize the same file several times, this process
interferes with the variable "f" in the loop, eating some initial
characters randomly
while read -r f; do echo $f; ffmpeg -y -i "small.mp4" -af
loudnorm=I=-14:TP=-3:LRA=11:print_format=json -f null -
"small_normalized.mp4" &>/dev/null; done <<< "$manyurl_lines"

# output

# but if I use the "for ... done" construct this does not happen:

# output (as expected)http://techslides.com/demos/sample-videos/small.mp4

there is an explanation for this?
