Bug#726162: New patch

Hi Maximiliano,

there is an updated patch, which fixes the problem. Please, do not
apply it now, I would like to double-check it and try to discuss with
upstream.

2013-12-02 Thread Anton Gladky
2013/12/2 Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez perezme...@gmail.com

adding commented-out lines in a patch doesn't seems like a good idea :-/

That is why I asked not to upload it before I discuss it with upstream. It
seems, that
commented line is for debugging only and relied on internal
Eigen-variables, what
is undesirable [1].

This is the same bug like #731878. I have implemented all
possible procedures, which were advised to reduce RAM
consumption including splitting some large .cpp-files.

I do not see any other possibilities to reduce it more, sorry.
Thus we can just blacklist yade on buildds, with RAM 4Gb.
But it is not RC.

Please, give yade_1.05.0-2+b1 back. Or wait a little bit as a new
source-uploads will be done soon.

Thanks,

 Hi Anton, thanks for replying!

This package has textual interface. So, unlike the snake-package already on
Archive, it requires no X libraries or a graphical session. It can simply be
played directly through the ttys or from a ssh session, being a nice
 distraction
 during a system crash/restore.

From the user's point of view, it encourages dealing with the terminal and
feeling confortable with textual interfaces. By being lightweight, it
 imposes no
 barriers on old/less capable computers.

From the developer's point of view, it's a simple, well-commented program
 in C
with few dependences. The only required libraries are standard
 out-of-the-box
packages. It was developed with beginner programmers in mind, being a nice
 start-up for C game developers.

Also, since the mantainer and upstream are the same person, it eases
mantainability/updates and zeroes the chance of it ever becoming orphan.

Finally, it would be a nice addition to the other text-based packages
 already on
 the Archive [0].

It looks fine, but I have 2 minor notes due to the packaging:

1) You are using dh 9, but there are no notice in the changelog.

it is up to you.

Also you are targeting the package into unstable, but the Wheezy

2013-05-01 Thread Anton Gladky
Hi Alexandre,

thanks for adopting the package. I did not look into the package
precisely, sorry, but there are a couple of notes.

1) It seems, you have taken the version 2.1a-7.1 as the base, but in
unstable the version 2.2a-1 is available and there are a lot of
packaging changes there.
2) Do not change the license of debian/* files, because legally you
need to get a permission from all people, contributed there to do that.
3) Use VCS
4) Try to use autoreconf.

2013-05-01 Thread Anton Gladky
Hi Oliver,

thanks for providing the new version of the package!
But to do such uploads you should be or (co)maintainer of the package or
at least to get a permission from the current maintainer (CC-ing him),
as the package has not been orphaned.

From the technical point of view the package needs to be fixed before
uploading into the archive: see the list of errors/warnings [1].

The last package uploading was 3 years ago and it really requires some
work on it. It would be good to know the opinion of the current
maintainer, whether he interested to continue it.

Thank you,

Bug#721175: RM: libcoin60 [mips, mipsel, sparc] -- RoM

2013-08-28 Thread Anton Gladky
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Dear FTP-team. The new version of coin3-library is hanging almost
3 months in unstable [1], because one reverse-depend (visp) is
failing to build on mips*-platforms and prevents migrating of coin3
and other packages into testing.

The maintainer of visp knows the problem and fixed it in VCS. But
he is waiting with uploading of newer version due to some
upstream-issues.

Bug#706514: RFS: dcraw/9.17-1

2013-06-04 Thread Anton Gladky
Hi Oliver,

2013/6/3 Oliver Sander san...@igpm.rwth-aachen.de:
 [...]
Currently getsource doesn't run due to some minor upstream format change.

Can you fix that?

It is what you get when following the official Debian instructions
for switching from source format 1.0 to 3.0 (quilt).

Yes, but in the previous uploaded version there are in patch-section
only Makefile, badpixels and manpages. You have now also configure,
Makefile.in etc.
Please, add into the patch only Makefile and badpixels. Manpages can be stored
somewhere in debian-directory (debian/manpages, for example).

I would suggest you to use cmake instead
of it. See an attachment. You just need to add all other binaries and
 test them.

Actually, I'd rather not. First of all I don't think you can't make it
nice with the AutoTools. Also, I've never worked with CMake before.
Finally, I used the AutoTools because you implicitly recommended them
(by giving me the admesh package for guidance).

It is absolutely your decision, I just suggested. Please, feel free to choose
the best suitable way for you.

I have now uploaded dcraw-9.17-1.1, which contains all my fixes and
cleanups in a single changelog entry.

Ok, looks good. Please, clean patches, try to fix watch-file, use DEP-5 for
copyright, check README.debian (update or remove it, if the info is outdated),
use dcraw.manpages and dcraw.exapmles instead of putting them into the
override_*.

Thanks for your work,

Anton

 Dear Maintainer,

* What was the outcome of this action?
* What outcome did you expect instead?

I write in connection with current paraview4.0.0~rc package. The problem is
that when loading HDF5 file, the program crashes. It produces a warning of
 this kind:

 --[quote]
Warning! ***HDF5 library version mismatched error***
 [..]
You can, at your own risk, disable this warning by setting the environment
 variable 'HDF5_DISABLE_VERSION_CHECK' to a value of '1'.
Setting it to 2 or higher will suppress the warning messages totally.
Headers are 1.8.10, library is 1.8.8
 ---[enda_quote]

With HDF5_DISABLE_VERSION_CHECK=1 the program works normally. The mismatch is
probably caused by compiling the package against HDF1.8.10 from unstable.
This requires either recompilation of paraview, or upgrade of HDF5 in
testing. I cannot resolve this myself.

It seems, the package is not working normally on mip* since its first

use it there?). Enabling autotests a year ago indicated the problem.

As I told already here [1] I do not have time and motivation to fix it

After applying your patch, the build ended successfully installing zero files.

Could you check if something is missing?

Also, we would prefer if the patch gets eventually accepted upstream, that
would mean (IMHO) to be able to use either eigen2 or eigen3, do you consider
 that possible?

Bug#721497: FWD: RFS: doublecmd/0.5.6-1 [ITP] -- twin-panel (commander-style) file manager

2013-09-24 Thread Anton Gladky
Hi,

I am glad to see this software packaged! I have created already this
one, but still not managed that to be uploaded, though using it locally.

The package itself looks OK. I will have a closer look at it, and if
there are no critical notes, it will be uploaded.

Thanks,

Anton

 Hi

I have revorked the debian/copyright file according to the additional
comments given by Paul Richards Tagliamonte (FTP Master).

 Work done:
   * Incorporated all copyright info given from upstream in their copyright
 file
   * grep over complete source tree for the term Copyright and
 controlled it against debian/copyright

I hope to statisfy all copyright holders and of course the Debian policy.

The updated copyright file can be found for review under:
 https://github.com/wermut/musl/blob/master/debian/copyright
 https://github.com/wermut/musl

The updated package is not yet uploaded to debian mentors.

Sorry for the inconvenience and additional work.

@ Boris Pek: Thank you for the tip.

 Hi Kevin,

The package was not yet uploaded into Debian.
  - The package number should be 0.9.13-1

Could I still keep the incrementation, because the earlier versions
are already tagged signed in the public git repository and also
already uploaded to a Ubuntu PPA? (ppa:bortis/musl) So the first
version for uploading would be 0.9.13-3 if you accept. Or we can wait
for musl 0.9.14 wich, according to upstreams roadmap, will be released
in the next two weeks to get a clean 0.9.14-1.

My feeling is that you'll need to keep the Ubuntu PPA and the Debian
package seperated and have them NOT in the same git branch. This will
save you trouble down the road as Debian != Ubuntu in many aspects and
you will face situations where you need only to upload Debian or
 Ubuntu...

Just small additional tips: use specific versioning scheme in your PPA.
For example: 0.9.14-0ppa1~raring1. As you can see, this version is lower
 that
version in official Debian and Ubuntu archives. So once updated package
 will hit
into main archive, it will be updated in users systems.

I use this approach for a long period of time. You may find one of
 examples here:
 https://launchpad.net/~tehnick/+archive/q4wine/+packages
Just look at Newer version available string.

 Related Git-repo:
 https://github.com/tehnick/q4wine-debian
 Just look at git tags.

 Best wishes,
 Boris

it seems, upstream has fixed both #719065 [1] and #719384 [2] bugs.
I have prepared NMU, based on those commits (see attachment for
debdiff) and uploaded it in DELAYED/2 queue, because #719384 causes
FTBFS's on several packages.

If you are not agree with it, feel free to cancel the upload or delay it longer.

 (ie. libmpich10 rather tham libmpich2-3)

so just doing a binnmu rebuild should unbung things (indepently of also
fixing the incorrect conflict). Shall I just do that
on this porterbox or does someone responsible for the package want to sort it
 out?

This package, of course, needs some cleanup especially the debian/rules
I agree. However I completely disagree with your latest comment:
 * First because PETSC/SLEPC are among the main ingredient of many
scientific libraries which are already in Debian and are of great
 interest for performing simulations
 * Second this debian/rules is the result of hours spent by many people
(including me) to get this package into Debian and thus provide users
with valuable libraires for either their work or research. I personnaly
believe that we can improve things without being an integrist. Being
to strict would make people get away from the effort of packaging...

2013-09-20 Thread Anton Gladky
Hi Kevin,

thanks for working on the package. Generally it looks
good and almost ready for uploading. Some minor notes:

- Remove Readme.Debian, it is useless.
- Changelog should have just one note: Initial packaging, Closes
The package was not yet uploaded into Debian.
- The package number should be 0.9.13-1
- Are you sure, you need to ship *.a for further static linkage? Just
a question. I personally prefer not to do it.
- debian/rules:
  * remove commented lines 2-7
  * do you really need lines 32-39, 41-48, 54-55?
  * add --parallel option to dh
  * overriding dh_auto_build in your case is not needed.
  * passing --prefix=/usr in configure is
- overriding lintian info-warnings not needed.

I may be wrong on some points.

When you fix those notes, please, let me know.

2013/9/21 Kevin Bortis p...@bortis.ch:

 Regards
   Kevin

 Hi Kevin,

As you can see, this version is lower that
version in official Debian and Ubuntu archives. So once updated package will
 hit
into main archive, it will be updated in users systems.

I use this approach for a long period of time. You may find one of examples
 here:
 https://launchpad.net/~tehnick/+archive/q4wine/+packages
Just look at Newer version available string.

 Related Git-repo:
 https://github.com/tehnick/q4wine-debian
 Just look at git tags.

 Best wishes,
 Boris

Bug#737758: RM: eigen2 -- RoM; deprecated version

2014-02-05 Thread Anton Gladky
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Please, remove eigen2_2.0.17-1 from unstable.

Dear ftp-team, eigen2 is a deprecated branch of Eigen-Math library [1].
Upstream even removed mentioning about it from the website.

All packages, which were dependent from libeigen2-dev I have updated [2]
and all of them are now eigen3-dependent.
Thus I am asking for removal of eigen2 as a deprecating package.

The only broken eigen2-dependency is feel++ on sparc as it failed

Bug#743177: libvtk6 should conflicts with libvtk5.8

2014-03-31 Thread Anton Gladky
Hi Mathieu,

thanks for bugreport. We should probably discuss how to
proceed with this transition. From my point of view it is
better to do as quickly as possible. Declaring 5.8 and 6.0
version is possible, but during transition time we will get
tons of removed packages. What do you think?

Anton

2014-03-31 10:58 GMT+02:00 Mathieu Malaterre ma...@debian.org:
 Package: libvtk6

Clearly there is something missing here. libvtk6 can be co-installed
with libvtk5.8. VTK API (ABI too) is completely incompatible in
 between those two versions.

Typical scenarios that should not happen is an app linked against
vtkCommon and vtkCommonCore. This gets even worst with python

 $ python
 import vtkCommon
 import vtkCommonCore

I guess the same is true for java + tcl binding.

So IMHO libvtk5.8 and libvtk6 should conflicts.

Hum, actually you are right. As long as libvtk5-dev and libvtk6-dev

Since you are in the debian science team, can you please also upload vtk?

and also, do you think the vtk tcl fixes should be cherry picked to vtk6
 too?

 cheers,

Bug#748053: vtk6: diff for NMU version 6.0.0-7.1

2014-05-17 Thread Anton Gladky
Hi Sebastian,

thanks a lot for the patch. As I told you before
I have managed uploading a newer vtk6 version (6.1.0),
which builds fine againse libav10.

Could you please cancel your NMU? Or I think one can
simply wait till it will be rejected.

Best regards

Anton

 Dear maintainer,

to move forward with the libav10 transition, I've prepared an NMU for
vtk6 (versioned as 6.0.0-7.1) and uploaded it to DELAYED/2. Please feel
free to tell me if I should delay it longer.

 Cheers
