2013/12/2 Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez perezme...@gmail.com adding commented-out lines in a patch doesn't seems like a good idea :-/ That is why I asked not to upload it before I discuss it with upstream. Ok, Alexandre, I have sponsored your package. Please, consider also an adopting of snake4 package to get some more packaging experience and to help Debian. Best regards, Anton On 04/24/2013 03:32 PM, Alexandre Dantas wrote: Hi Anton, thanks for replying! This package has textual interface. So, unlike the snake-package already on Archive, it requires no X libraries or a graphical session. It can simply be played directly through the ttys or from a ssh session, being a nice distraction during a system crash/restore. From the user's point of view, it encourages dealing with the terminal and feeling confortable with textual interfaces. By being lightweight, it imposes no barriers on old/less capable computers. From the developer's point of view, it's a simple, well-commented program in C with few dependences. The only required libraries are standard out-of-the-box packages. It was developed with beginner programmers in mind, being a nice start-up for C game developers. Also, since the mantainer and upstream are the same person, it eases mantainability/updates and zeroes the chance of it ever becoming orphan. Finally, it would be a nice addition to the other text-based packages already on the Archive [0]. Hi Oliver, thanks for providing the new version of the package! But to do such uploads you should be or (co)maintainer of the package or at least to get a permission from the current maintainer (CC-ing him), as the package has not been orphaned. From the technical point of view the package needs to be fixed before uploading into the archive: see the list of errors/warnings [1]. The last package uploading was 3 years ago and it really requires some work on it. It would be good to know the opinion of the current maintainer, whether he interested to continue it. Hi Oliver, 2013/6/3 Oliver Sander san...@igpm.rwth-aachen.de: [...] Currently getsource doesn't run due to some minor upstream format change. Can you fix that? It is what you get when following the official Debian instructions for switching from source format 1.0 to 3.0 (quilt). Yes, but in the previous uploaded version there are in patch-section only Makefile, badpixels and manpages. You have now also configure, Makefile.in etc. Please, add into the patch only Makefile and badpixels. Manpages can be stored somewhere in debian-directory (debian/manpages, for example). I would suggest you to use cmake instead of it. See an attachment. You just need to add all other binaries and test them. Actually, I'd rather not. First of all I don't think you can't make it nice with the AutoTools. Also, I've never worked with CMake before. Finally, I used the AutoTools because you implicitly recommended them (by giving me the admesh package for guidance). It is absolutely your decision, I just suggested. Please, feel free to choose the best suitable way for you. I have now uploaded dcraw-9.17-1.1, which contains all my fixes and cleanups in a single changelog entry. Ok, looks good. Please, clean patches, try to fix watch-file, use DEP-5 for copyright, check README.debian (update or remove it, if the info is outdated), use dcraw.manpages and dcraw.exapmles instead of putting them into the override_*. On 06/09/2013 08:32 PM, Kurt Roeckx wrote: It's both mips and mipsel. It's been failing since 2.5.1~beta2~svn11604~dfsg-1, which is the first version where you enabled the tests. I also don't find this a good reason to remove the package, as you don't even appear to try and fix the issue. It seems, the package is not working normally on mip* since its first upload in Debian. But nobody reported a problem since then (does anybody use it there?). Enabling autotests a year ago indicated the problem. As I told already here [1] I do not have time and motivation to fix it for this platform: no discrimination, but I have some higher tasks in my priority list, sorry. Or we can wait for musl 0.9.14 wich, according to upstreams roadmap, will be released in the next two weeks to get a clean 0.9.14-1. My feeling is that you'll need to keep the Ubuntu PPA and the Debian package seperated and have them NOT in the same git branch. This will save you trouble down the road as Debian != Ubuntu in many aspects and you will face situations where you need only to upload Debian or Ubuntu... Just small additional tips: use specific versioning scheme in your PPA. For example: 0.9.14-0ppa1~raring1. As you can see, this version is lower that version in official Debian and Ubuntu archives. So once updated package will hit into main archive, it will be updated in users systems. I use this approach for a long period of time. You may find one of examples here: https://launchpad.net/~tehnick/+archive/q4wine/+packages Just look at Newer version available string. (ppa:bortis/musl) So the first version for uploading would be 0.9.13-3 if you accept. Bug#743177: libvtk6 should conflicts with libvtk5.8
Hi Mathieu, thanks for bugreport. We should probably discuss how to proceed with this transition. From my point of view it is better to do as quickly as possible. Declaring 5.8 and 6.0 version is possible, but during transition time we will get tons of removed packages. What do you think? Anton 2014-03-31 10:58 GMT+02:00 Mathieu Malaterre ma...@debian.org: Package: libvtk6 Clearly there is something missing here. libvtk6 can be co-installed with libvtk5.8. VTK API (ABI too) is completely incompatible in between those two versions. Typical scenarios that should not happen is an app linked against vtkCommon and vtkCommonCore. This gets even worst with python $ python import vtkCommon import vtkCommonCore I guess the same is true for java + tcl binding.
