Following up on my previous two posts, I believe I've solved my own problem. The GTK theme widgets were set to oxygen-gtk when the crashes occurred. Changed the GTK theme widgets to Adwaita and meld works like a dream once again. Please mark as closed (for me). -- Chris Dunn
