I found the problem:
Upower was not installed. Installing upower (and restarting Gnome) fixed the
problem:
The symbol is visible again and the error-messages in terminal are gone.

radeon driver (with gallium) which suprisingly supports 3D, too.

problem with the proprietary fglrx-driver.

as I saw at TDO libpam-script is now marked for autoremoval.
This is the last thing I intended and the proper solution seems obvious to me.
Is there anything I can do to keep libpam-script in Debian 11?
