it was a powerpc-specific build problem, I also checked one
of Debian's powerpc hosts and the conffile is identical to my alpha and
i386 ones (bruckner, unstable chroot if other developers were
wondering).
In short, I'm not that convinced this is a bug.

I'm trying to see if it is/was a top problem, a xterm problem, a library
(eg ncurses) problem or some combination.

There is something wrong with checkpc's way or parsing executable
filters. I have forwarded it to upstream but I don'tlike my chances of
it getting fixed in the near future as they've been real quiet :(

First, congrats on making the migrating into 7.4 so smoothly, with
the exception of one tiny thing it worked great.
The postgresql-7.4 daemon failed to start after an upgrade. The problem
was in the configuration file tcpip_socket
for some minor manual page changes.
I'm curious to know why the hurry? I missed it for some reason in the
last release.

It says:

It is a requirement, the startup screen has a red No if it is not set.

Do you mean change the structure of the database or change the details

I'm currently working on a -2 release which has some rework of the

It will remain GPLed, there are exceptions in the package, mainly around
the rules file, where this isnt the case. If there is a specific file
that could cause problems (leaving aside the theoretical crazy license
scenario) then let's have a look at that.
