Bug#419475: linux-image-2.6.18-4-k7: erroneous behaviour of Realtek 8139, network practically unusable

2007-04-15 Thread David Garabana Barro
Package: linux-image-2.6.18-4-k7
Version: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12
Severity: important

After upgrading this machine from sarge to etch, network card started to do
strange things.

Net card is correctly detected and initialized, but it doesn't works as
expected.
I can, for example, remotely connect by ssh to machine. But when I try to scp
something, connection times out.
I can open www.google.com, but not www.yahoo.com (I suppose problem is the size
of data to transfer). Even an apt-get upgrade times out after downloading some
headers.

I have tried to downgrade kernel (vanilla kernel, without debian patches, but
with the same options as 2.6.18-4 debian kernel when possible),
and the problem seems to appear in 2.6.17. 2.6.16.46 works with no problem.
2.6.17 suffers from the same problem than etch's kernel.

I have tried 2.6.18-4-486 too, and the problem persists.

I have passed the following options to kernel, with no success at all:

irqpoll
pci=biosirq
pci=routeirq
acpi=off

I've added the following lines to /etc/sysctl.conf, with no success too (I
found them in an old kernel bug report):

# No longer needed, fixed by lines below
#net.ipv4.tcp_window_scaling=0

# Fix for tcp window scaling issue related to broken Internet routers
proc.sys.net.ipv4.tcp_wmem=4096 16384 131072
proc.sys.net.ipv4.tcp_rmem=4096 87380 174760

# Default Debian values for these, still causing problems as of 2.6.18-3
#proc.sys.net.ipv4.tcp_wmem=409616384 4194304
#proc.sys.net.ipv4.tcp_rmem=409687380 4194304

I'm at my very end.

This is the output of lspci for both cards (mainboard internal, and PCI):

Mainboard is a Gigabyte 7N400SL, with the latest BIOS installed.

Please, feel free to query any other information needed.

P.S. I have booted with 2.6.16.46-1-k7, because with debian's kernel I cannot
send this report :)

2008-07-11 Thread David Garabana Barro
Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.0~rc2-2
Severity: important

After upgrading from iceweasel 2 to iceweasel 3, iceweasel hangs up before
starting when socksified by dante.

dante-client 1.1.18.dfsg-0.2

In my company, we use a socks proxy for accessing two networks where
client's machines resides. All the other traffic must go outside the proxy
server, so I cannot configure
socks proxy inside iceweasel.

It worked perfectly with iceweasel 2.x. It's after upgrading to testing's
iceweasel 3 when it stopped starting.

This is the otput og iceweasel -g:

Bug#490808: kmail: Misinterpreted encoding of from field on message list

2008-07-14 Thread David Garabana Barro
Package: kmail
Version: 4:3.5.9-4
Severity: important

Since kmail 3.5.9-4, on sender field in message list, international
characters are misinterpreted.
For example, where before I saw

Bermúdez

now I see

=?iso-8859-1?Q?Berm=FAdez

When encoded in any international codepage, sender field is totally unreadeable.

It doesn't depend on language you have selected on KDE. It fails in spanish
(my own language) as well as in english.

Bug#607796: Should include lvs=/sbin/lvs option in default /etc/mylvmbackup.conf

2010-12-22 Thread David Garabana Barro
Package: mylvmbackup
Version: 0.9-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Option lvs= is not included in default /etc/mylvmbackup.conf
If you launch backupfrom a root shell, it makes no difference, because /sbin
is in root's path. But if you launch it from a cron job, it fails with te
following error:

't exec lvs: No existe el fichero o el directorio at /usr/bin/mylvmbackup
line 734 (#1)
(W exec) A system(), exec(), or piped open call could not execute the
named program for the indicated reason. Typical reasons include: the
permissions were wrong on the file, the file wasn't found in
$ENV{PATH}, the executable in question was compiled for another
architecture, or the #! line in a script points to an interpreter that
can't be run for similar reasons. (Or maybe your system doesn't support
#! at all.)

Use of uninitialized value $lv in substitution (s///) at
/usr/bin/mylvmbackup
line 736 (#1)
(W uninitialized) An undefined value was used as if it were already
defined. It was interpreted as a or a 0, but maybe it was a mistake.
To suppress this warning assign a defined value to your variables.

To help you figure out what was undefined, perl will try to tell you the
name of the variable (if any) that was undefined. In some cases it
cannot
do this, so it also tells you what operation you used the undefined
value
in. Note, however, that perl optimizes your program and the operation
displayed in the warning may not necessarily appear literally in your
program. For example, that $foo is usually optimized into that
. $foo, and the warning will refer to the concatenation (.) operator,
even though there is no . in your program.

Use of uninitialized value $lv in substitution (s///) at
/usr/bin/mylvmbackup
line 737 (#1)

This option will be the same for nearly all Debian users and cases, so it
should be put by default in configuration file.

Bug#603464: gramps: closes with error every time you try to export tree

2010-11-14 Thread David Garabana Barro
Package: gramps
Version: 3.2.3-3
Severity: important

Every time I try to export tree, it closes with error.

You can correctly export it, but it closes at the end of process.
If you try to cancel at any step on the export process, it also closes.

This is the error you obtain:

The program 'gramps.py' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 12029 error_code 3 request_code 20 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Bug#733011: linux-image-3.11-2-amd64, USB3 card reader, Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 (AMD 970 chipset), continuous errors

2013-12-23 Thread David Garabana Barro
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.11.10-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
At first, it didn't work at all (POST never ended). After activating IOMMU on
BIOS, and disabling USB3 legacy support, I could make it boot.
Some of the functions are working (SD/MicroSD readers, I have no more type of
card available).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
I've tried changing every USB3 related BIOS option, with no success in avoiding
errors
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Stop making noise in dmesg/messages...

Bug#850768: amule-daemon fails on startup (same as #840496)

2017-01-09 Thread David Garabana Barro
Package: amule-daemon
Version: 1:2.3.2-1+b2
Severity: important
Tags: l10n

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
After upgrading amule-daemon, it stopped starting
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Deleting ~/.aMule/shareddir.dat made amule-daemon start again. Further
investigation showed that problem arises when you share a directory using non
english
characters.
For example, accented vowels (á, é, Ó...)
   * What was the outcome of this action?
Unsharing directories with non english characters made it start again.
Once you share a single non english name, it crash again on start.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Update shouldn't break amule-daemon internationalization

I'm pretty sure that this bug is the very same as #840496.
