There is a discussion on exim-dev[0] relating to an incident of root-level
compromise owing to a couple of bugs. The first (the remote attack)
appears[1] to be related to a bug already fixed in
Julien, I just wanted to point out that there are two separate issues
here, and only one of them has been fixed in newer versions. #606527
relating to the root upgrade is AFAIK still an issue.

Not yet checked, at least me, so far I have done only first

Thanks for this report. You are of course correct, and I have fixed this
in our subversion repository; however pushing this out may have to wait
until r1 given that squeeze is now in deep freeze :(

Rest assured that this bug remains on my horizon.

but it might be worth you raising this on rt-users first. If it's simple
as you suggest, and you have a desire for it, then it might be a case of
arguing the point by submission of a suitable patch :)

I note that the package is supposedly team-maintained, but the alioth

libtemplate-plugin-dbi-perl is now available in unstable. As this is a
new package for which we are hoping to get an exception to release, any
extra testing you can do would be appreciated.
Thanks,
