As this protocol is getting more popular in several part of the world (mainly Asia and Europe) because of IP shortage, ISP and corporated systems are switching to IPv6 in order to allow their growth to continue. So having an IPv4-only web browser means not beeing able to read those web sites. ipv6 is enabled in dillos configure.. can you try configuring ipv6 for you and trying to surf to an ipv6 webpage? and posting the log msgs and/or error msgs here? thanks, Gürkan
Bug#341228: mazeofgalious: patent infringement
This package is not redistributable due to patented game design in Japan (and maybe others) and should remove from Debian. Please read the comments at the ITP[0] of mog from several other Debian members for more information. I have read them and I still disagree to you. Youo claim it is patented, however a search of my side on the following places didn't yield any results: - http://www.patents.ibm.com/ - http://www.uspto.gov - http://www.european-patent-office.org - http://www.jpo.go.jp/ Please tell me which patents these are. * The title screen in start.pcx which includes the trademark Konami and a derived game logo. Compare the layout and font of the words; they look like a near-exact match, with just a color change and an increased size. Creating an original logo design, and avoiding the trademarked company name would solve this issue. For reference, BTW, a quick search on the USPTO website indicates that there are no trademarks on the game name itself, only on Konami; on the other hand, choosing an original game name would avoid some extra trouble, and make it easier to claim the logo image is original. No more words of Konami can be found in the package in sid. Should there be any problems with the name of the game, I can change it, any suggestions? Pac Man and Bomber Man clones are called what they are too, not different names. * The Konami logo in konami.pcx; trademarked and copyrighted by Konami. This should be removed entirely, as should any and all references to the word konami in the entire work. This was also fixed with: http://bugs.debian.org/341501 * It is possible, given these issues, that some of the other graphics were not drawn from scratch, and may be modified versions of the original graphics. Most look original to me, but to be certain, it would be a good idea to contact the original author of the graphics set. Any non-original graphics need to be replaced by original graphics. I can not really check that, however I have forwarded your concerns to upstream but haven't gotten a reply yet. Feel free to send me a more detailed report on which graphics exactly and I can try to work out to replace them. Cheers, Gürkan

Unisys Corp. holds a patent on the Lempel-Ziv-Welch compression algorithm used by GIF images. When this first became an issue several years ago, Unisys stated that programs available at no cost to the user, like Gifsicle, could use LZW compression in the context of GIF images without obtaining a license. If you plan to distribute GIF writing code in a shareware or commercial product, you will need to worry about obtaining a license. (Many people believe that LZW decompression is not covered by the Unisys patent, so GIF reading code is probably all right.) 2. Developers or distributors who plan to use Gifsicle code, whole or in part, in a product whose source code will not be made available to the end user -- more precisely, in a context which would violate the GPL -- MUST contact the author and obtain permission before doing so. -- System Information: Debian Release: testing/unstable Architecture: i686 Kernel: GNU/kFreeBSD gnu 5.4-1-686 #0 Mon Dec 5 20:14:28 CET 2005 i686 i386 AMD Sempron(tm) 3000+ GNU/kFreeBSD Locale: LANG=POSIX, LC_CTYPE=POSIX -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Hello Bryan I do use Tesseract myself and was recently made a developer by Ray Smith to do the 64-bit port: http://sourceforge.net/project/memberlist.php?group_id=158586 Splitting it up into two packages is a good idea, but it may need to be split more in the future. Thanks, what more packages can you think of? As I understand it, Ray is working on bringing the training software back to life, so other language support will likely happen after that. Also, any idea how long packages usually stay in the new queue for? Sounds good, I will keep an eye on this. The new queue? Anything between 2 hours to 2 months. Normally 1 - 3 weeks. Bug#387505: gworkspace.app: Debian package version is very outdated
Is this package still properly maintained? yes it is. The current Debian package of gworkspace.app is at version 0.7.0 which originally dates from 18 Mar 2005, the good old times of the last Debian stable release. In the meantime, gworkspace.app has evolved considerably and is at stable upstream release version 0.8.3 since August 31 2006, but the the Debian package for unstable has only seen some recompilations of the outdated version from stable. yes because if you check the details about the latest versions it requires a newer version of gnustep. which just got (and still is) being built in sid. It would be really nice if a current version could be shipped with the next stable Debian release. indeed. and there's not much people working on software linking against gnustep on debian. you used to maintain a few pakcages too... Actually it would be even nicer, if all of the GNUstep related environment would be completely up to date. i'm sure those maintainers and developers are working hard to accomplish this. still you're free to help :) Thanks, P. *8^) yours, guerkan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#393086: wmaker bug strike#383906/strike #393086
Dear Dmitry You proposed me to create a package for DebianSwirl theme. Thank you for the good idea. I created such package. It depends on wmaker only. The package file is called wmaker-theme-debianswirl_0.1_all.deb. The installation went correctly on my system. I have two questions, please excuse me if they are boring for you: 1) Should I close the bug #383906 and report a new RFP to WNPP, or there is some special procedure to 'move' the bug to wnpp? Yes please close #383086, then create a new ITP (not RFP), since you have the intention to package the software (and you already did so). 2) I am not official Debian Developer. Can you act as a Sponsor for me and upload the package to Debian repository? Well I am not official Debian Developer either. I can tell you to look at: http://people.debian.org/~mpalmer/debian-mentors_FAQ.html http://sponsors.debian.net http://mentors.debian.net 3) I noticed that the background image is not switched whan I switch the WindowMaker theme through the menu. I discovered that the image file name is written without a full path in Themes/Debian: WorkspaceBack =3D (spixmap, debian.tiff, rgb:8c/81/65); rather than WorkspaceBack =3D (spixmap, /usr/share/WindowMaker/Backgrounds/debian.tiff, rgb:8c/81/65); Is it a bug? No, it's not a bug. It should work without the full path. Yours, Guerkan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#394802: wmaker: please revert changes to Defaults/WindowMaker
Hello If you want the old brown theme, it comes here, and one user wants to package it: http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-dist@lists.debian.org/msg250742.html I will not ship this theme with the wmaker package since it comes from a different upstream. I am sorry for the stoney change I did, I will work on getting it restored into better shape on this. However the default keyboard shortcuts cause problems with other software (Certainly f11,f12 and meta-1..n,0). The current still HAS a Debian inspired background, however you will have to clean up your Window Maker configuration before it is used (remove ~/GNUstep/Defaults/W*) The new packaeg did not overwrite your configfile in your homedir. It was you who did so, by probably selecting save session by default or some other funny thing. Indeed it is not nice to change the default upstream configuration to something that breaks other peoples' software. That's why it got fixed now. I will try to find a pleasant solution for all parties and document these changes. Yours, Gürkan

Bug#393086: Recover default WindowMaker theme
Dear Dmitry, The default WindowMaker theme was changed to more 'GNUstep-like' one (see bug #286344). The old default theme loooked nice to me, and I see no way to switch back to it in the new wmaker version. I see a way. The theme you want is not from www.windowmaker.info but from Gary Burke. You can find it at this address: http://themes.freshmeat.net/projects/debianswirl/ Background image called Debian.jpg is replaced with the new debian.tiff, and the old default color scheme is also unrecoverable. I suggest that the old default theme is stored under any name. I suggest you rename this bug to an ITP or RFP and package the above mentioned software (Window Maker theme) and maintain it for Debian (or install it yourself and use it). You can read here the details about making Debian packages: http://www.debian.org/devel/ Regards, Gurkan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#392943: wmaker: Broken keyboard shortcuts with new default theme
Hello Peter I disagree with your grave severity. The software is perfectly usable without the so called standard configuration that you say is default by Window Maker. After an initial shock over the new default theme (which this bug does not mean to put in question), I found the WindowMaker keyboard shortcuts, for example for switching workspaces, not working at all. are you sure they work if you take the upstream tarball and build it? you can set them in WPrefs, the 5th icon from the right. This does not come as a surprise, given that most configuration options have vanished in '/etc/Defaults/WindowMaker'. Please revert to the previous, working default configuration. Regards, Peter p.s. On a side note, why is the wmaker package not allowed to ship with a Debian-inspired theme by default (see bug #286344)? As a default, the Debian theme looked much better who says it's not allowed to ship a debian-inspired theme by default? did you even try it with an account that has no GNUstep directory? It does have a debian theme, just not the one it used to have. THE debian theme? your opinion is pretty subjective, and i disagree to it. the brown was very brown... -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#398642: links2 -g still doesn't work 2.1pre25-2, missing X support?
hello mikko it works here. can you tell me what echo $DISPLAY says in your xterm? there's already 2.1pre26-1, but also 25-1 and -2 should work again. i can not reproduce your problem. what x version do you have? what debian version? what kernel? what x driver? if x is missing, that's a bug. it's the one that i use most of the time. yours, guerkan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Hello Pascal I've applied and tried your patch, but failed, see logs at http://gnu.ethz.ch/debian/antigrav/ If you get it to work, I'll be glad to upload it. yours, guerkan PS: Looking at your diff, i see that you've made changes to main.cpp and m3dtexture.cpp without using the patch system. I know, nothing special about this. There's plenty more packages that do it exactly like that. It's just a few lines here and there. I feel like this is not the proper way of doing things. Thanks for the hint. The attached patch should fix. Unrelated issue: The svg standard recommends that glyph-names be unique within a font. This font does not follow that recommendation. Bug#454242: kic software and its manual page - updated (fwd)
Hello Stephen You might be interested in the changes to your software I have gotten. Yours, Guerkan -- while(!asleep()) sheep++; -- Forwarded message -- Date: 2008-02-04 18:28:46 +0100 From: Yargo [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: kic software and its manual page - updated Hi Gürkan, i just wanted to let you know that i used your draft version of manual page for kic and debian. i hope you don't mind. i can update it anytime, no problem. it's in debian now http://packages.debian.org/kic Thanks for your efforts, I really appreciate this. In the meantime, I improved an entry routine somewhat, as I encountered a problem while trying to draw another test mask. The corresponding fix is attached (should be applied with 'patch -p0 -u'), together with the new version of the manpage which has minor modifications, but makes reference to the improved entry routine. Anyway, documentation and help is still bad, I know.. The patch just changes version number (from 2.4a to 2.4b) and modifies point.c to use floating point instead of integer numbers for coordinate entries, with integer type cast after conversion into internal units. This allows to enter coordinates by values at the highest possible precision. Bug#213544: memtester won't test all RAM on systems with more than 4 GB
Hello Christian just for the record: this bug is still present in 2.93.1-3.1. It is however fixed in the unstable version of memtester (v4.0.8): http://nerdbynature.de/bits/memtester/ Thanks for testing it. @Guerkan: any chance the stable version will get a fix for this? I don't think so, but you are free to use a backport I did: http://krum.ethz.ch/backports/memtester/ Thanks, Christian. Bug#460848: ITP: teewars -- Cute little buggers with guns game
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: teewars Version : 0.3.3 Upstream Author : Magnus Auvinen * URL : http://www.teewars.com/ * License : See below Description : Cute little buggers with guns game Really very cute game. (yes i know this description sucks, i'll think of something better for the actual package) seems like there's something already, but probably needs be improved: http://www.getdeb.net/app.php?name=TeeWars This software is provided 'as-is', without any express or implied warranty. In no event will the authors be held liable for any damages arising from the use of this software. Redistribution and use in source and binary forms, without modification, are permitted. IMPORTANT NOTE! The source under src/engine/external are stripped libraries with their own licenses. Mostly BSD or zlib/libpng license. With that being said, contact us if there is anything you want to do that the license does not premit. Why we have choosen this licens is because we want people to be able to send in patches, bug-fixes and compile the game for their platform. We don't want to have several diffrent versions floating around the net with their own little features etc. There should only be one Teewars and that one should be the very best it can be. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. It basically looks fine. He is an experienced debian maintainer, and it would probably be easier to find sponsors if he checked the package for problems himself. -- | Lucas Nussbaum | [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.lucas-nussbaum.net/ | | jabber: [EMAIL PROTECTED] GPG: 1024D/023B3F4F | -- while(!asleep()) sheep++;
Bug#461885: O: brutalchess -- 3d chess with reflection of the chessmen
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I orphan this package now because finding sponsors is more time intensive than maintaining the software and the upstream doesn't really react to mails anymore. Maintaining a package requires time and skills. Please only adopt this package if you are *sure* you will have enough time and attention to work on it. If you want to be the new maintainer, please see http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o for detailed instructions how to adopt a package properly. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
