I can reproduce the problem without mne-python. It's a problem in the
python-vtk package, and maybe even in the libvtk package. The following
code reproduces the problem:
python -c "import vtk; vtk.vtkWindBladeReader()"

a VTK bug, not a Mayavi bug.

That's clearly not a Mayavi problem. It should probably be moved on to
VTK. However, I suspect that they won't do anything about it: the gl2ps
approach is intrinsicly limited.

This is a bug in VTK, IMHO. You can reproduce the crash using the
following Python code (using the swig VTK bindings):
import vtk

reader.SetFileName('foo.wrl')
reader.Read()

I can reproduce the bug on a sid (with the latest python-vtk package,

It does.
If so, this bug report more likely belongs to libgl1-mesa-dri.
Possibly. I wouldn't really know. However this bug only shows up when

Hi Francesco,
Sorry, I have not been replying to your mail. I have left Florence a bit

Hi Varun,
Thanks for pushing the info upstream: if we don't get bug reports, we
don't fix them. I had a quick look at the discussion, and it seem the bug
is not directly Mayavi2-related (eventhough it would be nicer if Mayavi2
did not crash). Do you confirm my interpretation?
In general, would
