Bug#948702: opencpn: Opencpn package is incomplete, adding external plugins is blocked

2020-01-12 Thread Huub Reuver
Package: opencpn
Version: 5.0.0+dfsg-1
Severity: important

A minimal configuration for opencpn includes at least the following
plugins:
- opencpn-plugin-objsearch
- oesenc-pi
- opencpn-plugin-draw

I need charts, I need to notate and I need to find unknown locations.
Without these opencpn is plainly useless.

Those plugin packages are not available from Debian.
First problem is gshhs dependency (there might be more).
If I use an external repository I find myself pinning out all
debian packages.

Please port the plugins to Debian.

Quick fix:
/etc/apt/preferences.d/opencpn

Bug#794605: gcc-5-plugin-dev: A simpel test to see if gcc-5-plugin-dev works yields as result:

2015-08-04 Thread Huub Reuver
Package: gcc-5-plugin-dev
Version: 5.2.1-14
Severity: normal

-- System Information:
Debian Release: stretch/sid
  APT prefers unstable
  APT policy: (500, 'unstable')
Architecture: amd64 (x86_64)

Kernel: Linux 4.1.3-201507281943-2 (SMP w/2 CPU cores)
Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8)
Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash
Init: sysvinit (via /sbin/init)

The test used can be used from the CLI:
gcc -E -shared - -o /dev/null -I`gcc -print-file-name=plugin`/include 21 EOF
 #include gcc-plugin.h
 #include tree.h
 #include tm.h
 #include rtl.h
 #ifdef ENABLE_BUILD_WITH_CXX
 #warning g++
 #else
 #warning gcc
 #endif
EOF

It yields on my system:
In file included from
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/5/plugin/include/hash-set.h:24:0,

/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/5/plugin/include/gcc-plugin.h:33,
 from stdin:1:
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/5/plugin/include/hash-table.h:201:15: fatal
error: new: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.

This looks to me like some very basic parts are not working correctly.
Currently the build-essential is updated from 4.9 to 5.2.1, but this problem
prevents the gcc-plugins from working.

At the location gcc-plugin-dev breaks on the #include new rule:
..
#define TYPED_HASHTAB_H

#include ggc.h
#include hashtab.h
#include new

templatetypename, typename, typename class hash_map;
templatetypename, typename class hash_set;

/* The ordinary memory allocator. */
..

This rule was not present in gcc-4.9-plugin-dev.
I suppose some dependency could be missing after installing
build-essential and gcc-5-plugin-dev with apt-get on a clean system.

Huub

Bug#623811: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/jre/bin/javaws: No such file or directory

2011-04-25 Thread Huub Reuver
After running into the problem I found a few ways to work around it:
installing 6b18-1.8.3-2 (not an option for security reasons)
installing 6b18-1.8.7-2~squeeze1 (did not work for me)
installing 6b22-1.10.1-1 from the experimental repository

Upgrading openjdk-6-jre-lib openjdk-6-jre-headless and openjdk-6-jre to
experimental was the only working solution for me (besides from using
another system, not debian, for java).

Let's hope the package will get the unstable status soon. The 1.8.7-3
should never make it beyond unstable. Perhaps the netx-package is not
required for everyone but please make sure the openjdk-6-jre package
reaches sid first.

Thanks to the openjdk-team for their good work.

With regards,
Huub Reuver

Bug#507357: xulrunner-1.9: Flashplayer causes SIGSEGV flashplayer, xulrunner and iceweasel are killed by kernel

2008-11-30 Thread Huub Reuver
Package: xulrunner-1.9
Version: 1.9.0.4-2
Severity: normal

Apart from xulrunner iceweasel and flashplayer are needed to trigger the
problem.
ii  iceweasel  3.0.4-1
Adobe flashplayer for Linux (either version 9.0 r31 or 10.0 r12)

Without grsecurity I'd expect a security hole.
With grsecurity flash and iceweasel are killed.

All open links are lost and iceweasel can't restore the old session.
(The new session starts the same scripts and will be killed again.
Therefore there is a possibility to lose information in open links).
One of the effected sites: www.tokyopop.com (the standard flash script).
If flash does not start iceweasel is not killed.

Even if the plugin is at fault, xulrunner and iceweasel should not crash!

Bug#485869: iceweasel: Iceweasel 3.0~rc2-1 Debian:unstable crashes when an plugin does not start

2008-06-11 Thread Huub Reuver
Package: iceweasel
Version: 2.0.0.12-0etch1
Severity: important

While using Pax (Pageexec/Segmexec) the javaplugin was not allowed
to execute. Using things like Pax this can happen.

However stopping the plugin crashed Iceweasel 3.0rc2-1.
This renders iceweasel completely unusable since nowadays with a few
pages open one can wait for a plugin to be called (java) and iceweasel
crashes. I wonder if it's a general problem for not-working plugins.
(Currently I downgraded to 2.0.0.12-0etch1).

Bug#485870: iceweasel: Iceweasel 3.0rc2-1 does not show pictures when on-mouse-over scripts are used

2008-06-11 Thread Huub Reuver

I have a simple page (which might not be html-compliant on details) which
show a few pictures. A on-mouse-over script is used to replace those
pictures with different ones.

http://www.aoi-karin.net shows 3 pictures which change with on-mouse-over.
iceweasel 2.0.0.12-0etch1 shows them correct (the original pictures and
the alternative pictures). iceweasel 3.0~rc2-1 shows none of the original
pictures and only 1 or 2 of the 3 alternative pictures when the mouse is
above them.

Bug#460523: foomatic-filters-ppds: unnecessary dependency to hpijs

2008-01-13 Thread Huub Reuver
Package: foomatic-filters-ppds
Version: 20061104-1
Severity: normal

I'm trying to keep my system up-to-date but sid wants to install hpijs.
It costs me 50-70MB unnecessary diskspace (including libqt3-mt).
I'd like to use that space for different purposes.

I just need a simple driver for a PCL6 compatible printer and another
which are provided by foomatic-filters-ppds. This package depends on
hpijs which is totally unneccessary.

If you really need hpijs, you could at least make more packages in
a way needless GUI's are not installed. A dependency for a GUI
is in itself outragious since I prefer configuring a headless
pc as printerserver. 60MB useless data is too much.

Right now there is no direct problem, but I expect a problem with
future updates!

With regards,
Huub Reuver

Bug#337611: xserver-xorg: This may be related to a locally-modified xorg.conf

2005-11-05 Thread Huub Reuver
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 6.8.2.dfsg.1-9
Followup-For: Bug #334340

Same problem here with a little addition. Not only is the message repeated
3 times, also it _ends_ with postinst stating no updates were made.

If one can test if the config-file won't be updated should not the message
be a warning which does not need any interactive response in the first
place?

It is the difference between a interactive and a non-interactive upgrade.
People who tweak their xorg.conf will be seearching the /var/log/Xorg.0.log
anyway if the system won't start again.

With regards,
Huub Reuver

The meesage I get 3 times:
