I got exacly the same result, a screen displaying a rotating train
without any reaction.
Tracing system calls with strace shows a endless loop on an open file
with FD 4:
read(4, 0x9e5c534, 4096) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable)
This file is a socket (lsof -p pid):
ri-li
of the kernel containing a ath5k
driver without bug ?
If I can help, I encountered the same problem and tried to locate it
(dmesg, strace ifup ath0, ...).

working (I got no error messages).
I am using Firefox-ESR 60.4.0esr-1 from testing/main.
So, as described in the bleachbit issue (See [1]), I think Firefox ESR 60 broke

Correcting the problem allowed me to install git without problem.
