Bug#772623: imapfilter: Fails to connect to imap mailboxes

2014-12-09 Thread Johannes Fichtinger
Package: imapfilter
Version: 1:2.5.2-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

After a recent update of Debian testing, imapfilter fails to login into
mailboxes. The following error message is shown:

imapfilter: error while initiating connection to IMAPSERVER at port 993
imapfilter: login request to MYACCOUNT failed

Before the most recent system updates in testing, i.e. before the 8/12/2014
3:00 CET, everything worked well. Please note that login to the very same
mailboxes from other emailclients on the same machine works flawlessly.

There is a new version available upstream - maybe packaging that one could help
for this issue?

I am more than happy to provide you with additional info if requested.

Bug#631319: Bug is only reproduceable without file name encryption

2011-07-10 Thread Johannes Fichtinger
I have made some additional tests with different settings and machines. This
error can only be reproduced, if the encrypted filesystem is created with the
option not to encrypt file names:

(1) jo@computer:~$ ecryptfs-setup-private
[...]
log off -- on

[After logon encrypted filesystem is correctly mounted into decrypted, so
~/Private is mounted on ~/.Private.]

(2) jo@computer:~$ ecryptfs-umount-private
[Private is correctly unmounted]
(3) jo@computer:~$ ecryptfs-mount-private
[Private is correctly mounted, everthing ok]

BUT:

If you create the encrypted filesystem without file name encryption, as
jo@computer:~$ ecryptfs-setup-private --no-fnek

and repeat steps (2) and (3), then appears the the error in (3):
(3) jo@computer:~$ ecryptfs-mount-private
Enter your login passphrase:
Inserted auth tok with sig [fa708ae428382477] into the user session keyring
keyctl_search: Required key not available
Perhaps try the interactive 'ecryptfs-mount-private'
jo@computer:~$

On my system I specifically do not want file name encryption because I am using
unison to syncronise the encrypted files with some servers. With file name
encryption turned on, I cannot understand which files are actually changed on
my system and on the server.

Hope this helps,
Johannes

Bug#585631: network-manager-kde: knetworkmanager cannot find the D-Bus session server [SOLVED somehow]

Now, doing a complete

$ apt-get remove --purge network-manager

solves the problem, as everything is working fine again here. However, I am
afraid that it will not be possible anymore to find out the reason for the
problem before.

Thank you very much for your help, Michael!

2010-06-12 Thread Johannes Fichtinger
Package: network-manager-kde
Version: 1:0.9~svn1125524-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

knetworkmanager system tray applet does not start anymore, network cannot be
used by user if network management relies on network-manager using the kde
systray applet.

On my system, network-manager is started and running:

NetworkManager is running.

but trying to start knetworkmanager results in

application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the
reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

My system has been running network-manager-kde successfully for some years
now. I doubt that the problem might have something to to with recent libqt4
update from 4.6.2-5 to 4.6.3-1. However, a downgrade of related packages of
libqt4-dbus to 4.6.2-5 now did not solve the problem. I need to check further,
if you believe that it might help.

Do other apps using dbus work?

Hmmm, how can I check this? I don't see any other problems on my computer,
other than with knetworkmanager.

 What's the output of ck-list-sessions?

Session1:
unix-user = '1000'

Does it help, if you logout/login?

No. Also manually restarting dbus, so
$ /etc/init.d/dbus restart

and/or restarting NetworkManager by
$ /etc/init.d/network-manager

and starting knetworkmanager results in the same error message: Cannot find
D-Bus ...

I don't see severity grave justified so downgrading to appriopratly.

Actually, I do see the severity grave since this bug renders the network-
manager on kde unusable.

Are you able to reproduce the bug? Or, can I provide further infos?

Bug#561785: [texdoc] Bug#561785: texlive-base: texdoc does not use standard pdf-viewer defined in KDE

2009-12-21 Thread Johannes Fichtinger
Hi Manuel, hi everyone!

Am Montag, 21. Dezember 2009 20:35:24 schrieben Sie:
Selecting the pdf-viewer based on the existence of eg. gnome-open in
the path is incorrect since being in a KDE session still gnome-open
might be found in the path. It would be better to base the selection
instead on some environment variables. KDE provides eg.
  declare -x KDE_FULL_SESSION=true
which can be used to detect if we are in a running KDE session. Gnome
 might provide similar variables.

This is a good suggestion. I may try to enhance the viewer selection in
future versions by looking at those variables also. Do you have a
pointer to this in the KDE documentation?

See [1]. There exists another variable called KDE_SESSION_VERSION, which from
KDE4 on is set to 4, but was not defined for KDE3.x. This can be used further
to distinguish between KDE4 and KDE3.

It seems, for gnome exits GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID, which can be tested for
exising, although I couldn't find any reliable source for that.

Bug#561785: texlive-base: texdoc does not use standard pdf-viewer defined in KDE

2009-12-20 Thread Johannes Fichtinger
Package: texlive-base
Version: 2009-4
Severity: normal

Hallo!

When calling texdoc PACKAGENAME in KDE, the pdf description of the package is
actually opened with GIMP, instead of using the KDE system-wide setting for the
default pdf viewer, e.g. okular.

The problem arises due to a wrong selection of the application based on the
existance of certain commands in
/usr/share/texmf-texlive/scripts/texdoc/texdoc.tlu (starting from line 747):

   viewer_pdf  = first_in_path {

Selecting the pdf-viewer based on the existence of eg. gnome-open in the path
is incorrect since being in a KDE session still gnome-open might be found in
the path. It would be better to base the selection instead on some environment
variables. KDE provides eg.
declare -x KDE_FULL_SESSION=true
which can be used to detect if we are in a running KDE session. Gnome might
provide similar variables.

If you report an error when running one of the TeX-related binaries
(latex, pdftex, metafont,...), or if the bug is related to bad or wrong
output, please include a MINIMAL example input file that produces the
error in your report. Don't forget to also include minimal examples of
other files that are needed, e.g. bibtex databases. Often it also helps
to include the logfile. Please, never send included pictures!

If your example file isn't short or produces more than one page of
output (except when multiple pages are needed to show the problem),
you can probably minimize it further. Instructions on how to do that

Bug#560594: Does not work with locale de_AT.UTF-8 because of libgcj10 error.

2009-12-12 Thread Johannes Fichtinger
Hallo Johann Felix,

I can confirm, setting LANG=C makes pdftk work fine here, too. So it really
seems related to the LANG evironment.

Thanks for your good work!

Bug#558755: (no subject)

2009-11-30 Thread Johannes Fichtinger
Hi,

I can confirm this problem, however, it seems related to
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=558741
as a downgrade of libpoppler5 from 0.12.2-1 to 0.12.0-2.1 solves the printing
problem for me.

Bug#550824: install-info: No dir file specified; try --help for more information.

2009-10-15 Thread Johannes Fichtinger
Hmm, strange. Since these versions

dpkg --version reports 1.15.4 (i386)
install-info: 4.13a.dfsg.1-5 (unstable)

are the currently actual packages in unstable, I thought this problem should
be happening to everyone. I actually wondered already, why there are no bug
reports yet. Seems like to be a local problem here.

Thanks,
Johannes

Bug#550824: install-info: No dir file specified; try --help for more information.

2009-10-15 Thread Johannes Fichtinger
I checked my install-info version again and I had an older version 4.12
locally installed, too, which caused the problems. This happened, since I am
using texlive on debian, which is fairly outdated in unstable so that I use a
manual installation of the latest texlive. But this contains an older version
of install-info (4.12) instead of the actual version 4.13 in unstable.

By replacing the older install-info with 4.13, the upgrade of dc works
perfectly now.

So, I am sorry for the troubles and thanks again for checking. I guess, the
bug can be closed.
