Do you use initramfs-tools (mkinitramfs) or yaird (mkinitrd.yaird) to
generate your initial ramdisk?
If you don't know, then check which of them got pulled in when
installing your new kernel package, and also provide us the content of

Another issue is NIC drivers to include. When run on the NFS server as

I used to commit stuff to them, but since the project moved to Alioth I
was left behind, and haven't had response to emails from them :-(
So what I do currently is develop snippets for use locally only... :-(

Several things could have gone wrong with your homemade kernel. So
let's first attempt using official packages:
Try edit /etc/yaird/Config.cfg to include the modules needed, and
afterwards install an official 2.6.14 kernel.

Also, I am not sure I agree that the default for upgrades should be to
enforce port selection: The package *must* respect local changes to
configuration, and I see no sane way of doing that with inetd entries.

README.ATAPI.setup says (about 2.6 kernels) to use this command:
cdrecord dev=ATA: -scanbus
That command fails.
Thanks to Google and gentoo-wiki.com the following command was found,
that works:
cdrecord -scanbus dev=ATAPI

Yes, please do.
Should I do so as well (I thought the BTS always sends to the
participants of each bug, but apparantly not: I have had complaints in
the past when responding to the bug only).

The debconf script uses "ps" so the package must depend on procps.

I suggest next step is to make the package maintainers of the above

Yes, I am aware that a vote has been made in norway about names of their
