Bug#982010: RFP: vimb -- the vim like browser

2021-02-05 Thread Martin Atukunda
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-Cc: matl...@gmail.com

* Package name: vimb
  Version : 3.6.0
  Upstream Author : Daniel Carl
* URL : https://fanglingsu.github.io/vimb/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : the vim like browser

Vimb is a Vim-like web browser that is inspired by Pentadactyl and Vimprobable.
The goal of Vimb is to build a completely keyboard-driven, efficient and
pleasurable browsing-experience with low memory and CPU usage that is intuitive
to use for Vim users.

* it's modal like Vim
* Vim like keybindings - assignable for each browser mode
* nearly every configuration can be changed at runtime with Vim like set syntax
* history for ex commands, search queries, URLs
* completions for: commands, URLs, bookmarked URLs, variable names of settings,
search-queries
* hinting - marks links, form fields and other clickable elements to be
clicked, opened or inspected
* SSL validation against ca-certificate file
* user defined URL-shortcuts with placeholders
* read it later queue to collect URIs for later use
* multiple yank/paste registers
* Vim like autocmd - execute commands automatically after an event on specific
URIs

Q: Why us this package useful/relevant?
A: vimb presents a light weight browser using a relatively modern web engine

Q: Is it a dependency for another package
A: No

Q: Do you use it?
A: No, it is not packaged by Debian. Otherwise I _would_ use it :)

Q: How does it compare to other packages providing similar functionality
A: It beats them all, since it uses vim like configuration, and keyboard only
   access. Obviously I am biased, but the closest thing to this is vimparator(?)
   for Firefox

Q: How do you plan to maintain it?
A: No idea at this time

* Package name: pacvim
* Upstream Author: jmoon018

* Description: a game that teaches you vim commands
 PacVim is a game that teaches you vim commands. You must move pacman (the
 green cursor) to highlight each word on the gameboard while avoiding the
 ghosts (in red).
 .
 Vim is a great tool to write and edit code, but many people, including me,
 struggled with the steep learning curve. I did not find a fun, free way to
 learn about the vim commands in-depth, and thus, PacVim was born. Inspired by
 the classic, PacMan, PacVim is a game that'll give anyone plenty of practice
 with the vim commands while being a ton of fun to play.

Bug#665218: Upgrade to 1.3.14 to avoid Strict Standards messages in PHP5.4

2012-06-14 Thread Martin Atukunda
Package: cakephp
Version: 1.3.7-1
Followup-For: Bug #665218

Dear Maintainer,

An update to 1.3.15 also fixes the problem, and may arguably be
a better option than 1.3.14, since some important fixes went
into 1.3.15

I manually replaced /usr/share/php/cake with the one from
cakephp-1.3.15 and this successful. The Strict Standards
messages went away.

Hi,

the debian/watch file for cakephp does not properly

Bug#416207: a possible solution to get alsa working

2007-04-04 Thread Martin Atukunda
Hi,

I'm the original reporter of this bug.

After digging a little deeper, it appears that we can get arts working
with alsa by creating a proper $HOME/.asoundrc file

See this page from the alsa-project:

http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/asoundrc.php?company=Genericcard=Genericchip=Genericmodule=Generic#softmix

be aware that you need to change the line:

pcm hw:1,0

to read

pcm hw:0,0

Attached is my .asoundrc.

Matthew, does this help you?

.asoundrc
Description: Binary data

Bug#416207: libarts1c2a: /usr/bin/artsd dies with Assertion `pcm' failed.

2007-03-25 Thread Martin Atukunda
Package: libarts1c2a
Version: 1.5.5-1
Severity: important

I'm having difficulty using arts with alsa on my box (etch).

When I first try to run it this is what I get:

-- 8 --
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ artsd
artsd: pcm.c:695: snd_pcm_close: Assertion `pcm' failed.
Aborted
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$
-- 8 --

Any other attempts to run it after that I get:

-- 8 --
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/apt$ artsd
unix_connect: can't connect to server
(unix:/tmp/ksocket-matlads/igloo.ds.co.ug-248d-4606ddb7)
artsd: pcm.c:695: snd_pcm_close: Assertion `pcm' failed.
Aborted
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/apt$
-- 8 --

When I use kde's control center and specify ALSA as the audio device, I get
crash
dialogs. This is what initially set me off trying to find the solution.

Any solutions for me?

handled by pg_wrapper. This affects compilation of any ecpg work, i.e.
it fails with an error similar to the following:

pg_wrapper: invalid command name ecpg at /usr/bin/ecpg line 15

epcg should be added to the list of commands handled by pg_wrapper.

Bug#316100: postgresql-8.0 doesn't provide a logrotate.d file

2005-06-28 Thread Martin Atukunda
Package: postgresql-8.0
Version: 8.0.3-6
Severity: normal

postgresql-8.0 should install a logrotate file so that the log file is rotated
along with all the other log files on the system.

I created the /etc/logrotate.d/postgresql-8.0 file, there is a diff:

--- /dev/null   2005-06-28 12:40:42.141591104 +0300
+++ postgresql-8.0  2005-06-28 15:43:33.426791432 +0300

+   daily
+   rotate 10
+   copytruncate
+   delaycompress

+   create 640 postgres postgres
+}

It might also help if the generation of this script was done by a function in

/usr/share/postgresql-common/maintscripts-functions

so that it better fits into the new postgresql package structure. If a patch is
required let me know, and I might write up one.
