I'm experiencing the same problem on my HP nx7400 laptop but do not get
the lost interrupts. The system simply freezes after only a very short
uptime, sometimes even during the boot process. No output given.
I tried both, the amd64 and the 686 flavour and both fail.

this by installing gconf2 on that system. It
seems firefox uses gconf to store this information but on a non-gnome
system gconf2 isn't neccessarily installed.
So I would suggest that firefox depends/recommends/suggests gconf2 to
get rid of this problem.

this is not a good idea. Keep in mind that this
is what sid is for. The buggy package never made it out of sid. The
package in lenny is fine. If you're using sid you have to expect smaller
problems like this one.

The build report suggests that some part of your setup thinks it should
compile for i386 while doing amd64. Could you please check which value
$(ARCH) has when the Makefile is called?
