I'm going to study d-i further, but perhaps you developers can already
fix this in the mean time. To me solving part a) is more natural to
Etch, since all d-i processes seem to run as root:root, so other don't
need any permissions on files or directories.

A newer version of genext2fs may preserve uid's, gid's and permissions
for files and directories so the ext2 initrd image wouldn't have o=rwx

If quagga is running, and I start stop a domain, the VIF interface doesn't go
down properly (in addition to other problems).
Here's what I do:
1. Boot the computer. By default, quagga is running (zebra + ospfd).
2. xm
) doesn't respond to ping anymore, and I'm
at home currently, so I'll get back to this next week.
I appreciate the help.

Oddly enough, if I run these commands from within the vif-route script
in background, with a 10 second delay before they are executed, I get
the same problem (as if something in the environment was different when
running them by hand).

The Kdrive-based Xfbdev server is useful on embedded systems like the
Sharp Zaurus. Since it is built anyway, I see no reason not to include
it in the distribution.

Package: compiz
Version: 0.2.2-1
Severity: normal
When using a dualhead setup with two screens (:0.0 and :0.1)
compiz works only on the :0.0 and makes the :0.1 totally
unusable.
I can start programs on the other screen (and verify they are there
with xlsclients), but they can't be seen or used.
I'm hitting this every time I forget to close GPRS/Bluetooth connection
before poweroff with 2.6.18-3-686 and vanilla 2.6.20rc4 too.

bug, so downgrading to 1:2.1.1-4 is a workaround:

Here's a patch which fixes the issue. It works on my Thinkpad T20,
though I don't really understand the details.

Hi Mikko,
I'm just digging through Debian's mutt bug list
Package: libgtkmm-2.4-dev
Version: 1:2.8.8-1
Severity: minor
When compiling applications with -Wshadow enabled, GCC gives the
following warning:
/usr/include/glibmm-2.4/glibmm/helperlist.h:40: warning: declaration of
‘gparent’ shadows a member of 'this'
The following patch gets rid of this
to see it in etch too.
