Bug#527850: network-manager: Upgrade to 0.7.1-1 broke wireless connectivity

2009-05-08 Thread Patrick Steiner
Restart you pc and try it again. I had the same problem and after e
computer restart everything works fine. don't forget to enable access
for the keyring manager

vittorio wrote:
 Package: network-manager

 Justification: renders package unusable

 Hi

Earlier today, update-manager offered to upgrade network-manager and
other 5 related packages to version 0.7.1-1, which I gladly accepted.

At the end of the upgrade, an error message was displayed sayng that
network-manager applet couldn't find some important resources.

Tried to resuscitate (restart) network interfaces and network-manager
itself to no joy. Modprobed ath5k a few times with no errors. Rebooted
just to be sure, still no wireless connectivity.

Had to revert to cable ethernet. Brought back network-manager and
related packages to version 0.6.6 and everithing works fine now.

Something very wrong seems to be happening to wireless with latest
 network-manager in testing.

 Regards
 Vittorio

synce-gnomevfs doesn't work with nautilus.

Even if synce-pls works fine in console, nautilus is unable to browse synce:///

To install synce-gvfs from ppa synce repos for Hardy doesn't solve the problem
cause new
release of gvfs in Intrepid, but a bugfix was released in Mandriva:

http://svn.mandriva.com/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/packages/cooker/synce-gvfs/current/

Please fix the problem, synce is very important for many users.

Bug#446010: RFP: BlueProximity - - lock/unlock gnome-screensaver with your bluetooth device

2007-10-09 Thread Patrick Steiner

Package: wnpp
Severity: RFP

This software helps you add a little more security to your desktop. It
does so by detecting one of your bluetooth devices, most likely your
mobile phone, and keeping track of its distance. If you move away from
your computer and the distance is above a certain level (no measurement
in meters is possible) for a given time, it automatically locks your
desktop (or starts any other shell command you want).

2007-07-05 Thread Patrick Steiner
Package: gnome-power-manager
Version: 2.18.3-1
Followup-For: Bug #431381

I have the same problem and removing of the cachefile solves the
problem, i think it is usefull when you add an automatic remove of
this cachefile:
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache

you can add this line (or something like this) to the postinstall
script:

if [ -x /usr/share/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache ]; then
rm /usr/share/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache /dev/null
fi

this file should automatically be generated at the next start of the

Bug#400383: icedove: Message Database Corruption with TB 1.5.0.8

2006-11-25 Thread Patrick Steiner
Package: icedove
Version: 1.5.0.7-3
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

Icedove loses some mails with broken headers. The problem is described in
detail
here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=360409

I think this should be a RC bug because Icedove is a widely used mail client
and
losing mail is not acceptable.

Bug#304530: RFP: Havp -- HAVP (HTTP Anti-Virus Proxy) is a proxy with a clamav antivirus scanner.

2005-04-13 Thread Patrick Steiner
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: Havp
  Version : 0.56

Description : HAVP (HTTP Anti-Virus Proxy) is a proxy with a clamav
antivirus scanner.

HAVP is a proxy with an anti-virus filter. It does not cache or filter
content. At the moment the complete traffic is scanned. A reason for
that is the chance of malicious code in nearly every filetypes e.g. HTML
(JavaScript) or Jpeg. I hope to stop especially dialer or browser
exploits. But writing a http Anti Virus Proxy is a dilemma! Hugh
downloads are a problem for virus scanning proxies. A Client should not
receive data which is unchecked by the virus scanner, but big download
must not timeout.
