Dear All,
I had a look at the code in this patch. It appears to follow analogously
from the existing
method by which festival finds voices. Extending this to languages does
appear to be
a natural extension.

The festival-ca package is in mentors waiting for a sponsor. If any
New Maintainer or Debian Developer is interested, please sponsor it.
It is lintian clean, LGPL, copyright in DEP-5 and has a patch in DEP-3.

festival-doc source package builds two packages: festival-doc and
speech-tools-doc. Once we have a build system working for both packages, I
suggest Jean-Philippe intends to adopt festival-doc source package (or the
TTS team adopts it, I don't know :-) ).

All this said, this is my first adoption of an orphaned package, so if I
have forgotten any step, or done any wrong thing please feel free to

Dear Peter and fellow festival maintainers,
I think commit 9857746e5c9ca106b8f051a0198af05152fad0b1 fixes this.
See commitdiff at [1].
Basically I added a flag to know whether or not proclaim_voice was
found. If proclaim_voice is not found, voice is registered as it was
done before the patch.

Hi,
I have just committed changes to address your comments and I have uploaded

Again, you can fetch the package using:
dget -x

Dear Francis,
Festival does not support UTF-8. You should send the text to festival with
ISO-8859-15 encoding.
The accented character ò is represented by two bytes in UTF-8. Festival
interprets those two bytes as two ISO-8859-15 characters, one of them being
the copyright symbol.
That's why you
I was able to reproduce the issue and I submitted a merge request here:
https://salsa.debian.org/tts-team/festival-it/-/merge_requests/1
I am facing a technical issue with line endings in the source code and the
patch, so quilt refuses to apply it.
Does anyone know how to fix those?

Festival 2.4 seems to break compatibility with previous festival 2.1 HTS voices.
I will update the Catalan voices as soon as possible (ideally this week) to be
compatible with festival 2.4 and I will check if there are other HTS voices in
Debian.
Thanks for the report.
