Here a simple example program, that demonstrates and reproduces the behaviour:
package fileevent;
import static java.nio.file.StandardWatchEventKinds.*;
import java.nio.file.*;
public class Testcase {
After searching a little more (also bugs.java.com) I realized that my testcase
can be improved, here a cleaner version, that still shows the same problem:
package fileevent;
import static java.nio.file.StandardWatchEventKinds.ENTRY_MODIFY;
import java.nio.file.FileSystem;

Hey,
I found the reason for the unexpected behavior I was seeing. I have compared
the output of strace when saving a file with vi and with kate:
vi: write(1, \aFile\, 7)= 7
kate: rename(/var/tmp/test/aFilehc6546.new, /var/tmp/test/aFile) = 0

I have the same problem and opened a kde bug, although I don't know whether it
is a kde or a debian problem:

I've found this report after submitting the bug to bugs.kde.org.
Workaround conclusion:

Hello Joel,
thanks for the prompt reply, I have opened a new bug at
https://github.com/ccache/ccache:
https://github.com/ccache/ccache/issues/489
Regarding your sync problem, marlin should be there if you have used
android-10.0.0_r1 branch.
FInd attached a stripped down build-script. I
I had to adjust the script to be able to build it.
Find attached the current version of the script.
I changed the path to
~/android/source
I tried before initializing a new aosp source tree from scratch in
~/android/source-test but had not enough space, so I had to reuse my
main android tree.
The problem has been fixed upstream, see:
https://github.com/muammar/mkchromecast/pull/325
With https://github.com/muammar/mkchromecast/pull/332 I have provided a
PR that builds a deb with that the problem is solved.
mkchromecast has been fixed upstream (see:
https://github.com/muammar/mkchromecast/pull/325), thus opening this bug
was wrong.
Please close it.
Thanks & Best regards
