Bug#844530: linux-image-4.9.0-rc5-armmp-unsigned: fails to boot
Package: src:linux Version: 4.9~rc5-1~exp1 Severity: important Hello, when booting (the self-built) 4.9~rc5-1~exp1 on an Turris Omnia all modules fail to load as can be seen in the kernel log below starting at 2.111424. Bug#807830: arm: -fstack-protector-strong adds dependency on ld-linux-aarch64.so.1 on arm64
Package: gcc-5 Version: 5.3.1-3 Severity: normal Hello, I'm not sure if gcc is the right package to report this problem for, but not knowing it better I picked gcc, please reassign if needed. In the buildlog of memtool on arm64[1] I found a message: dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: package could avoid a useless dependency if debian/memtool/usr/sbin/memtool was not linked against ld-linux-aarch64.so.1 (it uses none of the library's symbols) This is surprising because ld-linux-aarch64.so.1 isn't mentioned explicitly and it should only be pulled in when needed: (sid_arm64-dchroot)ukleinek@asachi:~$ cat /usr/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/libc.so /* GNU ld script Use the shared library, but some functions are only in the static library, so try that secondarily. */ OUTPUT_FORMAT(elf64-littleaarch64) GROUP ( /lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 /usr/lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/libc_nonshared.a AS_NEEDED ( /lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/ld-linux-aarch64.so.1 ) ) The same problem (of course with a different lib name) is logged in the armhf and armel build logs. This is reproducible on asachi.debian.org in a sid chroot and only if -fstack-protector-strong is passed: (sid_arm64-dchroot)ukleinek@asachi:~$ cat test.c #include #include int main(int argc, char **argv) { char *end; unsigned long long val = strtoull(argv[1], , 0); printf("Hello World! %llu\n", val); return EXIT_SUCCESS; } (sid_arm64-dchroot)ukleinek@asachi:~$ gcc -fstack-protector-strong -o test test.c; objdump -p test | grep NEEDED NEEDED libc.so.6 NEEDED ld-linux-aarch64.so.1 (sid_arm64-dchroot)ukleinek@asachi:~$ gcc -o test test.c; objdump -p test | grep NEEDED NEEDED libc.so.6 I would expect that adding -fstack-protector-strong shouldn't introduce a useless dependency to ld-linux-aarch64.so.1. So either this dependency is unused (in which case there is something wrong in the linker) or dpkg-shlibdeps' diagnose is wrong (then dpkg-shlibdeps should be fixed and this bug reassigned accordingly). (That didn't enter sid up to now, that's why I need to build from kernel/trunk myself.) Boot setup needs more work, currently I boot via tftp. One of the last messages from the installer is: You will need to boot manually with the /boot/vmlinuz kernel on partition /dev/sda1 and root=/dev/sda1 passed as a kernel argument. It would be nice to mention that also using /boot/initrd.img-3.16-3-armmp is necessary. Also it could suggest root=UUID=3d8bbd9f... as is used in /etc/fstab (for good reasons). Bug#706735: installation-reports: [armhf] Installing an i.MX53 loco
Package: installation-reports Severity: normal Boot method: network Image version: http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/dists/wheezy/main/installer-armhf/current/images/mx5/netboot/efikamx/uI{mage,nitrd} Date: 2013-05-03 Machine: Freescale i.MX53 LOCO Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot: [O] Detect network card:[O] Configure network: [O] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [O] Clock/timezone setup: [O] User/password setup:[O] Detect hard drives: [O] Partition hard drives: [E?] Install base system:[O] Install tasks: [O] Install boot loader:[ ] Overall install:[O] Comments/Problems: * I booted the efika kernel+initrd on my Loco board. I had to overwrite the uImage's load address because the i.MX53 on the Loco doesn't have RAM at 0x9000. * I didn't test it (because I don't have physical access to the system) but I think the automatic installation would have overwritten the boot loader. But I admit it's hard to detect where the bootloader is. * With the original uInitrd the installer fails to select a kernel to install. The patch for http://bugs.debian.org/706643 fixes that though. * Again with the original uInitrd one of the last dialogs tells: You will need to boot manually with the kernel on partition /dev/mmcblk1p1 and root=/dev/mmcblk1p2 passed as a kernel argument. This is wrong, because there was no kernel installed. * I installed via a serial connection (on ttymxc0). It would have been nice if the installed system had a getty running on that serial line. Other than that I'm very satisfied with the overall installation. Bug#318743: grub-md5-crypt creates wrong md5 keys
Hello Hansgeorg, Hansgeorg Schwibbe wrote: grub-md5-crypt creates different MD5 keys of the same password. This is not a bug but a feature. The same holds true for md5sums (and even crypt) hashes in /etc/shadow. The sense behind that is that the admin should not be able to check that two users have the same passwords. The encrypted passwords are not working with the password --md5 MD5-PASSWORD option in the /boot/grub/menu.1st file. This is not a very detailed description. If you want further help send your non-working menu.lst and the password that you used to generate the md5sum. If your problem is solved in the meantime, please close the bug. Hi Frank, Frank Küster wrote: Uwe Kleine-Koenig [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Moreover both URL that are mentioned in that file don't work for me: wget -q -O - http://localhost/doc/tetex-doc/texdoc.php gets the php-script uninterpreted. I remember having problems with this, but I also seem to remember that they resolved themselves by restarting both server and browser. Probably you have libapache-mod-php4 (or libapache-mod-php5) installed? I have not. These packages (actually those for apache2) are only Suggested. Should we move this to Recommends? I wouldn't do that. In my eyes Suggested is fine. Now I created the file /etc/apache2/conf.d/tetex-doc with the following content: # This is used for the web-based php version of texdoctk # just try # http://localhost/texmf-tetex/doc/texdoc.php or # http://localhost/doc/tetex-doc/texdoc.php # IfModule mod_php5.c Alias /texmf /usr/share/texmf Directory /usr/share/texmf Options Indexes MultiViews FollowSymlinks AllowOverride None Order deny, allow Deny from all Allow from 127.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 ::1/128 /Directory Alias /texmf-tetex /usr/share/texmf-tetex Directory /usr/share/texmf-tetex Options Indexes MultiViews FollowSymlinks AllowOverride None Order deny, allow Deny from all Allow from 127.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 ::1/128 /Directory /IfModule IMHO this is not optimal, but better than it is now. There are still a few questions/issues open for me: 1) are really both Alias+Directory Directives needed? `- On http://localhost/texmf-tetex/doc/texdoc.php, the entry KOMA-Script User's Guide links to http://localhost/texmf/doc/latex/koma-script/scrguien.pdf.gz while ConTeXt: TeXEXEC manual points to http://localhost/texmf-tetex/context/base/mtexexec.pdf (BTW: That file doesn't exist, in version 2.0.2-9 of tetex-doc /usr/share/doc/texmf/context/base/mtexexec.pdf.gz was included.) 2) The whole thing needs to be duplicated once more for IfModule mod_php4.c ... /IfModule 3) If php[45] is not installed (or disabled) http://localhost/doc/tetex-doc/texdoc.php still shows the php-source. Don't know if that's OK. 4) Maybe you should consider something like: if test -e /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/php5.load || test -e /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/php4.load; then if apache2ctl configtest 2/dev/null; then invoke-rc.d apache2 force-reload || true else echo Your apache2 configuration is broken, so we're not restarting it for you. fi fi (stolen from libapache2-mod-php5.postinst) Best regards Uwe -- Uwe Kleine-Koenig http://www.google.com/search?q=e+%5E+%28i+pi%29 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#350822: apache2-doc: add Readme on how to browse the docs
Hello, I'd like to let this bug have a severity of normal. (At least it's minor.) I installed that package and when opening http://localhost/doc/apache2-doc/manual/ I only get: URI: index.html.de Content-Language: de Content-type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 URI: index.html.en ... Even when guessing that I have to open http://localhost/doc/apache2-doc/manual/index.html.en the links lead to similar listings. It's very annoying to always have to append .en (or whatever) for browsing. apache2-doc used to ship /etc/apache2/conf.d/apache2-doc that set this all up. The current testing and unstable version (2.2.3-3.1) doesn't ship that file. I placed the file from apache2-doc_doc_2.0.54-5sarge1 into my /etc/apache2/conf.d directory, and now at least http://localhost/manual/ works as expected while http://localhost/doc/apache2-doc/manual/ still don't work. In my eyes this configuration should go to /etc/apache2/conf.d Fair enough. It's not exactly easy to find relevant documentation on packaging things that need a web server, in particular for someone who has no idea about administering an Apache. I simply didn't know what site means in that context. Moreover both URL that are mentioned in that file don't work for me: wget -q -O - http://localhost/doc/tetex-doc/texdoc.php gets the php-script uninterpreted. Just that I don't know whether this is the correct fix, or rather to change the alias name to texmf-tetex. After all, texlive has equal rights to claim http://localhost/texmf, so none should get it. I don't want to decide that, but try to come up with a fix for the above issues. Bug#401051: iceweasel fails to start when firefox is installed
Package: firefox Version: 2.0+dfsg-1 Severity: grave Hello, the preinst script of firefox does the following: for dir in /usr/lib/firefox/icons /usr/lib/firefox/searchplugins \ /usr/lib/firefox/res /usr/lib/firefox/chrome /usr/lib/firefox/defaults \ /usr/lib/firefox/greprefs ; do if [ -d $dir ]; then rm -rf $dir fi done So now, when I already have iceweasel installed and then install firefox (to get the dependencies for sun-java5-plugin, see bug #399553), these symlinks (or directories) are removed. That prevents iceweasel from starting. Maybe instead of if [ -d $dir ]; then use if [ ! -h $dir] [ -d $dir ]; then ??
