I recently upgraded a VM from wheezy + a kernel from wheezy-backports to
jessie. This VM mounts data volumes using LVM and multipath iSCSI, and this was
severely broken after the upgrade.
To start with, I want to be clear that broken lvm2 + open-iscsi +
On further investigation, it seems that something (multipath-tools? the
kernel?) doesn't read the size of the underlying devices correctly. I
initially thought this might be a problem with the GPT on the LUN I was
using, but I was able to reproduce this problem on a new LUN.
I did the following:
The severe breakage I've been experiencing turns out to be a combination
of Debian bugs #782487/782488 and Ubuntu bug #1431650. I'm not sure why,
but the incorrect size reporting goes away if these other problems are
fixed.
Ubuntu bug #1431650 is deadlock between udev and multipath-tools until

We run VLC as a daemon to transcode an MJPEG stream from a StarDot camera and
pipe it into another program. After upgrading from wheezy to jessie, VLC began
to crash with SIGFPE.
Although the root cause may be elsewhere in VLC,
lying around.

It's still running, but some console output from this test run is
interesting, showing it running out of file descriptors:

It's rarely stayed running for more than 24 hours.
