Bug#917989: asterisk: Upgrade of libgnutls30 causes Asterisk to fail to load: linker error

2019-01-01 Thread angela . n . troy . telford
Package: asterisk
Version: 1:13.23.1~dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
apt-get upgrade included libgnutls30
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Rolling back the filesystem snapshot allowed me to pinpoint the
package with the linking error. I'm not sure if the bug should be filed against
libgnutls30 or against asterisk.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
Upgrading libgnutls30 causes asterisk to fail to load, with
little in terms of log messages by default. Turning up verbosity and running
asterisk in the foreground showed an ld linker error against an encryption
library (judging from the symbol reported).

I then ran 'apt-mark hold' on libgnutls30, and upgraded again
-- this time with success.

After this bug is finished getting filed, I'll get the full error message I'm
seeing.

As I said -- I'm unsure if the problem is with libgnutls30, or if asterisk
simply requires a recompile.

Dividers lines help in organizing a table. Content gets confusing
without this split

New install of Stretch with Gnome..
# cd /run/user/1000
# ls-l
...you'll see something like this:
d? ? ? ? ? ? gvfs

Based on Piviul's suggestion, I ran
# chmod u+rx /run/user/1000/gvfs
also tried:
# chown myself:myself gvfs

I end up with:
chmod: cannot access '/run/user/1000/gvfs': Permission denied

Bug#790499: xorg: First keypress in a textfield has no effect

2015-06-29 Thread Angela Merkel
Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.7+9
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

after having updated the Xorg-package the first keypress in any textfield
whether it is a terminal or a browser bar for example isn't recognised.
Furthermore
pressing a non-alpha character after having pressed an alpha-character for
example results in no effect, too.
On this computer (testing) I use Gnome as my window manager, but I have the
same issue
with another computer that runs jessie with fluxbox as window manager that has
a synaptics keyboard and
mouse. The only x window program that both computers run is nm-applet, but
disabling it doesn't change the situation.

Partitions: df -Tl will do; the raw partition table is preferredI just have
one hard drive and I selected all files in one partition.

Output of lspci -knn (or lspci -nn):

Partition hard drives: [ ]
Install base system:[ ]

User/password setup:[ ]

Overall install:[ ]

Comments/Problems: The install ran correctly thru to the end, then went to boot
the system and it doesn't boot. It displays the ThinkPad screen that says
ThinkPad - To interrupt normal startup, press ENTER. Pressing enter does
nothing, the screen seems to be frozen. There's no other menu or the grub so I
don't know how to even get to any type of prompt to access the system and go
into rescue mode. I even tried to boot with the install DVD in the drive, and
it does the same, only displays the ThinkPad screen and then hangs. My laptop
is brand new it had Windows 7 Pro installed on it and I wiped that and just
loaded Linux (ie no dual boot). The ThinkPad screen it is displaying is what
use to display when I had Windows on it.

Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.
