I tested following patch to work nicely:

Would be nice to get an updated version in sid for this soon as
its major usability PITA if you cannto copy stuff from the two leading
browsers...

Sounds a bit worrying indeed ... wonder issue still present in the
icedove/engimail for the debian version you are using?

If so, can you also try to install the enigmail addon through the
addon manager instead of using the debian package? Any change in
behaviour?

Same for trying upstream thunderbird.

I am not sure I understand this one... do you know what the problem is
that triggers the start delay? Does connman crash? Does the dbus

ok thanks. reproduced and found the problem. Seems that system.pc
which is used to find the tmpfiles dir in configure.ac is shipped by
systemd and non of the normal build deps pull that in.

Fix would involve to use --with-tmpfilesdir=/usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/
configure flag explicitly instead of build depending on systemd.

Yes, those shouldn't stay around after purging.

Settings I have to check, but I don't think it's meant to be settings
for manual edit by admin as connman probably updates those on the fly
regularly based on what user does in the UI or clie config tool, so
think var is OK for that to live ...

so NM does enable the wait job by default also? Just timeout
difference? If not I tend to agree that whatever the NM default is

Anything you think that should be done here?

Network Manager also has a similar wait job. timeout there is 30
seconds. connman just seem to have a higher default timeout in code
(120 seconds).

You could customize the job with --timeout=30 or we could use that as
the default in the package if we feel there is strong reason to
believe that majority of debian users will want the shorter timeout.

Let me know if you are happy with the ability to tweak by yourself...

I just checked and saw it is still an issue upstream.

Since we don't see any problems in debian, I wonder if you would be
willing to consider working with upstream on their mailing list to get
this issue in your preferred way? I would prefer to not carry a patch
forever in debian that does not affect debian builders etc..

That said, if you do that and would also like to have this patched
earlier in debian please provide me with the patch you propose, remove
the wontfix tag on this bug and I will work on getting this into sid
for you.

The ubuntu package has dropped -pedantic only ... which I thought I had done 
upstream, but didn't
(have filed a bug and will fix it). Keeping no-error should be fine.




Sidenote on libnl 3.2 trasition: ntrack make check recycle tests revealed a 
crash (not enabled
in package) for libnl  3.0 due to a dangling ref to the global (auto provided) 
ops cache ...

Ubuntu maintainer has send the libnl patch I ship as part of ntrack source 
upstream:

Not urgent I think as it's unlikely that apps really fully recycle ntrack 
monitors
or all libnl caches, but if you are interested I would be happy to have more

 feature freeze exception and push this to maverick asap.

Hi,

This was fixed upstream in 007 ... not sure what you did to fix it :),
but please invalidate the upload and upload the 007 ubuntu package
with just the version bumped to -1 if you want a fix.

I will release 008 upstream with all fixed.

btw, while i dont care who uploads ... in future don't do anything without
posting debdiffs so i can see whats going on without digging through
delayed queue.

Well, the sponsoring is the blocker for me too ;) ... the package in ubuntu
is fine, freel free to comaintain this package in debian by helping finding
someone to upload etc. Also go ahead and add yourself to Uploaders, so we
can get you DM upload rights at some point.

Also, dont bother about NMU/delayed queue unless you want to consierably
diverge from the ubnutu package ... I consider NMUs a PITA and you should
rather be in the team maintaining this (e.g add yourself to uploaders).

in ubuntu firefox we strip the depends from the firefox package and ship them
in the -gnome-support package so if you install that you also force the depends.

Not sure if you plan to do that, but the experience is then close to upstream:

 1. if on gnome you get gnome support
 2. if not on gnome and the libs are missing you dont get gnome support


also you might want to check out our firefox-kde.patch in ubuntu. that one
helps our kde folks a lot. It can probably be adapted for icedove ... even
though its from an older branch than our patch.

Just for the record, I don't want to stand in anyones way; however, the package
is as ready as it can be; the problem is really on upstream release process.

It's completely unclear when to release and what to release and that is what
we are trying out in ubuntu lucid. Most likely we will get out of this that
we need to work with upstream on something better.

One example: If you look at the release channels, you will notice that
there are two releases a week in average or something. Not real releases,tags
or anything like that. The problem here is that chromium uses a continuous 
rollout
and backout approach, which is fine on its own, but when it comes to reflecting

e.g. we want to spin it against dailies 3.1 etc.

which is why i asked Chris to fix it like we did in ubuntu --- however, 
glandium vetoed, so we have to diverge in debian for now ...

Not a big deal ... especially since builders dont pick up alternative build
depends anyway --- so syncs wont be possible anyway.

There is a patch available or we could simply --disable-jit

 Michael beat me cleanly and made all the work before I even got a chance
 to sit down to it, but just so it doesn't seem like I didn't do anything
 at all, I'm letting you know the icedove-dev bug has been closed by an
 upload today! :)

Can you verify that the package below just builds now?
