Some additional comments:
I tested on wheezy, with wheezy's default 3.2 kernel.
Since modesetting isn't in the xserver 1.12 autoconfig driver list yet
(it's in xserver 1.13), user needs to add an /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
Section Device
Identifier gma
Driver modesetting
EndSection
Then
Package: xserver-xorg-video-modesetting
Version: 0.3.0-1
Severity: normal
X doesn't start on a Cedar Trail netbook (with a 3.5 kernel with gma500_gfx
kms), if I don't add the BusPCI option in a xorg.conf file. This was fixed
upstream in 831e32e8f60b471 modesetting: pci probing requires interface

now in plymouth-drm.
Now, suppose you've got a plymouth theme requiring
Package: broadcom-sta-source
Version: 5.60.48.36-3
Severity: important
