Bug#956035: Doesn't work with linux 5.6

2020-04-06 Thread Anthony Wong
Package: virtualbox-dkms
Version: 6.1.4-dfsg-2
Severity: wishlist

When running linux 5.6 kernel, dkms build fails. This is tracked at
upstream in https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/19312, and they have
just released a test build few days ago.

Bug#929692: RFP: iwlwifi-dkms -- iwlwifi driver backport in DKMS format

2019-05-30 Thread Anthony Wong
Which git tree and branch do you take it from? If it is
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/iwlwifi/backport-iwlwifi.git
then
the package name is better called backport-iwlwifi-dkms or
iwlwifi-backport-dkms to make the package name clear in reflecting what it
does.

Bug#887136: virt-manager: Please consider updating package description

2018-01-14 Thread Anthony Wong
Package: virt-manager
Version: 1:1.4.3-1

The more recent project description at https://virt-manager.org/
describes the package better than the current one:

The virt-manager application is a desktop user interface for
managing virtual machines through libvirt. It primarily targets KVM
VMs, but also manages Xen and LXC (linux containers). It presents a
summary view of running domains, their live performance & resource
utilization statistics. Wizards enable the creation of new domains,
and configuration & adjustment of a domain’s resource allocation &
virtual hardware. An embedded VNC and SPICE client viewer presents a
full graphical console to the guest domain.

Please consider updating it, thanks.

Pre-built binary has been pushed to their github repo on Mar 11, 2017:

https://github.com/googlei18n/noto-emoji/blob/master/fonts/NotoColorEmoji.ttf

I think we can use the binary instead of building from source,
fonts-noto and fonts-noto-cjk do the same.

Bug#261929: Can't use tasksel to install multi l10n tasks

2017-02-24 Thread Anthony Wong
Hi all,

This is my first attempt to implement this feature. The attached patch
adds a second screen and lists all l10n tasks in a flat list. Any
comments welcome!

Currently the patch does not take into account additional locales
chosen at localechooser. I haven't looked into how to do this yet but
can add it later.

Besides, if the system does not have the locales for the chosen l10n
tasks, or the user has not selected these locales in localechooser,
should we generate these locales for them?

Thanks,
Anthony

Bug#856047: locale-gen manpage is not up-to-date

2017-02-24 Thread Anthony Wong
Package: locales
Version: 2.24.9

Manpage of locale-gen does not mention the --keep-existing option. In
the source I see there is locale-gen.8.sgml, which has this option,
but apparently it is not used for generating locale-gen.8, and these
two files are now out-of-sync. If you prefer to keep using
locale-gen.8, I suggest to remove the sgml file from git to avoid
confusion, otherwise we should keep the sgml file up-to-date. I can
send a patch to fix this if you let me know which way is preferred.

Bug#739857: Recent GRUB_RECOVERY_TITLE modification renders some strings untranslatable

2014-02-23 Thread Anthony Wong
Package: grub-common
Version: 2.00-22

Due to the recent addition of GRUB_RECOVERY_TITLE, structure of some
strings has been changed. For example in util/grub.d/10_linux.in, now
there is:

title=$(gettext_printf %s, with Linux %s (%s) ${os}
${version} $(gettext ${GRUB_RECOVERY_TITLE})) ;;

However, both %s, with Linux %s (%s) and recovery mode are not
msgid in po files, so this string will never be localized.

We can either change the code to:

title=$(gettext_printf %s, with Linux %s
(${GRUB_RECOVERY_TITLE}) ${os} ${version}) ;;

so the original msgid will be picked up if GRUB_RECOVERY_TITLE has not
been re-defined by the user, or we can add %s, with Linux %s (%s)
and recovery mode to po files.

Thanks,
Anthony

Bug#694075: ITP: gtkparasite -- GTK+ debugging and development tool

2012-11-23 Thread Anthony Wong
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Package name: gtkparasite
Homepage: http://chipx86.github.com/gtkparasite/
License: MIT
Description: GTK+ debugging and development tool
Parasite is a debugging and development tool that runs inside your GTK+
application's process. It can inspect your application, giving you detailed
information on your UI, such as the hierarchy, X window IDs, widget
properties, and more. You can modify properties on the fly in order to
experiment with the look of your UI.
 .
But you can go further than that. You can actually modify your application
logic while the program is running! Parasite includes an embedded Python
shell that lets you write new code that directly interacts with your
application's UI, regardless of the language the application is written in.
Create new dialogs, attach temporary signal handlers to buttons, test out
new logic, and gather additional debug information.

This package had been packaged by Devid in 2009 [1] but was later removed
on request due to lack of upstream activity [2]. Lately upstream started to
support GTK3 so we should provide this package again.

AR3011 (with VID:PID as 0cf3:3002) is an Atheros bluetooth device,
however there
are two kinds of AR3011, one of them can be supported by the
ath3k/btusb provided
by the kernel, but the other cannot. As they cannot be distinguished solely by
their VID:PID, users who have the inoperative AR3011 has to install
this package.
 .
See the following two URLs for why it cannot be fixed in the kernel:
  http://launchpad.net/bugs/714862
  https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27402
 .
This driver should only be used if you find that your AR3011 bluetooth device
doesn't work out-of-the box using the ath3k/btusb driver provided by
the kernel.
 .
This package provides the dkms source code for btusb and a firmware loader.
Kernel source or headers are required to compile these modules.

Bug#516271: bsdmainutils: [colrm,cut] Doesn't support UTF-8 characters properly

2009-02-20 Thread Anthony Wong
Package: bsdmainutils
Version: 6.1.10
Severity: normal

The current 'colrm' and 'cut' commands don't treat a UTF-8 character
as a 'character' even under a UTF-8 locale, instead they treat a
'byte' as a 'character', this makes them unusable on UTF-8 text files.

I only checked these two commands for UTF-8 usability, but I guess
other text-processing commands in bsdmainutils may also have the same
problem.

The upstream commands in FreeBSD have already been fixed 4 years ago
to support multibyte characters, we should incorporate their changes
into Debian to make Debian truly universal.

The upstream FreeBSD versions I'm referring to are:
  http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/usr.bin/colrm/
  http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/usr.bin/cut/

For your reference, the following link shows the modification in
upstream to support multibyte chars:

http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/usr.bin/colrm/colrm.c.diff?r1=texttr1=1.11r2=texttr2=1.12

Thanks a lot.

Bug#506952: ITP: rifiuti2 -- A MS Windows recycle bin analysis tool

2008-11-26 Thread Anthony Wong
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Anthony Wong [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: rifiuti2
  Version : 0.5.1
  Upstream Author : Abel Cheung
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/rifiuti2
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: C
Description : A MS Windows recycle bin analysis tool

Rifiuti2 is a rewrite of rifiuti, a great tool from Foundstone folks
for analyzing Windows Recycle Bin INFO2 file. Analysis of Windows
Recycle Bin is usually carried out during Windows computer
forensics. Rifiuti2 can extract file deletion time, original path
and size of deleted files and whether the deleted files have been
moved out from the recycle bin since they are trashed. Rifiuti2
supports the INFO2 file format found in Windows up to Window XP
and the new file format found in Vista, and the program is fully
internationalized.

I'm one of the upstream developers of rifiuti2 (not the main
author) and I'm responsible for the maintenance of its debian package.

Rifiuti2 has all the functionalities of the existing rifiuti package,
thus obsoleting it.

There are two programs in this package, rifiuti and rifiuti-vista. As
the first program name conflicts with the one in the rifiuti package,
rifiuti and rifiuti2 can't co-exist. But if rifiuti2 is going to be
included into Debian, rifiuti can be removed from our ftp.

Thanks Christophe for your work on rifiuti package! If I noticed the
rifiuti's ITP earlier, we could avoid the duplication of work.

Bug#424003: DWN index page inconsistency

2007-05-15 Thread Anthony Wong

Package: www.debian.org
Severity: normal

The DWN 2007 index page (http://www.debian.org/News/weekly/2007/) says
Here are the back issues of Debian Weekly News for 2007., but
besides news from 2007, there are also news from 2006. Since the
content in this page is generated by
english/template/debian/weeklynews/index.wml, the perl script will
output news from the previous year if there are fewer than 10 news in
the current year. I think this script should be fixed to only show
news in the current year.

Hi!

The final solution for this bug:

1. fix Bug#355842 for zh-autoconvert
2. remove binary chinese/bin/autogb from webwml cvs tree
3. patch chines/Make.lang:

Because this bug report has not been closed since Jutta proposed a
solution, I have tried to abolish the use of autogb during the Chinese
webpages build process and use iconv instead. During to this switch, i
discovered some typos in the original Chinese pages. All the changes
can be found in the attached patch file. I've compared the generated
HTMLs of using autogb and iconv, and iconv does the job perfectly, it
will even terminate when there's something wrong during the encoding
conversion, while autogb does not. This helps translators to spot
what's wrong in their files.

Seems to work fine.

A question though: Which files can be removed from chinese/bin
after applying your patch?
Currently I have removed all these without seeing any problems:

R bin/autogb
R bin/b5togb
R bin/b5tou7
R bin/b5tou8
R bin/b5touni
R bin/gbtob5
R bin/gbtou7
R bin/gbtou8
R bin/gbtouni
R bin/u7tob5
R bin/u7togb
R bin/u7tou8
R bin/u7touni
R bin/u8tob5
R bin/u8togb
R bin/u8tou7
R bin/u8touni
R bin/unitou7
R bin/unitou8

Or are some of them still useful for something?

All of the files you mentioned are not used any more and can be removed.

Two strings are marked fuzzy in that file.

Hi Jutta,

According to what you describe, I think your change is fine and
shouldn't lead to any error. Can you paste the full screen output of the
building of the Chinese page after you have made the change to
Make.lang? Since I don't have access to a PPC machine that has wml
installed, I can't test it out myself.

And on a related note, can you try changing the B5TOGB value to the
following and tell us the result:

  B5TOGB = /usr/bin/iconv -f big5 -t gb2312

Because iconv is standard (in libc6) and so should lead to fewer
cross-platform issues.

As you mentioned that executing /usr/bin/autogb is okay, could you
1. print the exit code of autogb by typing echo $? after running autogb
2. will it be tocn.pl that is the culprit? because it is the third command between the two echo statements in Make.lang.

Anthony
