Just one more note about this... guys, if you hit a problem like this again,

This bug has been, well, bugging me for an awfully long time now.
Fortunately for me it doesn't prevent cdrdao from working, but it
does mean that gcdmaster - a program I use quite a lot - takes
nearly a minute to start while it repeatedly

Just to say, I've downgraded to 0.93 (compiled from source) because
as well as the bug reported above I started getting segfaults and
all sorts of other nastiness. All in all I've found 0.93 to be stable
