This bug is still valid in Debian Jessie. The documentation appears to
have moved from mirror.list to /usr/bin/apt-mirror itself.
Unfortunately, the manual page still refers to /etc/apt/mirror.list as
having all the comments. They do not exist there. There is command line
help, either. Typing "apt-mirror --help" gives the error:
"apt-mirror: invalid config file specified at /usr/bin/apt-mirror line
137."

That does not help a user who has never looked at any executable files.

Comments/Problems:

Before and after examination of the USB drive with gparted shows some
unusual partitioning. I copied the image following the installation
guide.

Gparted reports the following for my 8 GB USB drive:

Libparted Warning
The driver descriptor says the physical block size is
2048 bytes, but Linux says it is 512 bytes.

sdc1 = Unknown file system, 4 KiB
unallocated, 9.86 MiB
sdc2 = Fat16, 416 KiB, with 10 KiB unused
unallocated, 29.81 GiB

I can not partition the drive and use the empty space since this is an
8 MB USB drive.

Bug#612612: the sd_generic module interface breaks speech-dispatcher

2011-02-09 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Package: speech-dispatcher
Version: 0.7.1-0ubuntu3
Severity: normal

This bug has been reported on Ubuntu Launchpad as:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571956

The Lucid version of speech-dispatcher running the sd_generic module interface
currently breaks speech out from speechd.

Steps to reproduce

1. uncomment espeak generic from ~/.speech-dispatcher/speechd.conf
2. restart speech-dispatcher
3. run orca from the terminal and pick espeak generic from the voice engine
list.
4. note orca is now silent

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04
Package: speech-dispatcher 0.6.8~unofficial~rc2-0ubuntu3
Uname: Linux 2.6.32-21-generic i686
Architecture: i386

ProcEnviron:
 PATH=(cusUser Name, no user)
 LANG=en_GB.utf8
 SHELL=/bin/bash

I am able to reproduce this issue in Ubuntu 10.10. When espeak-generic is set
as the speech engine, Orca is silent. There is no sound output. When espeak is
set again, without restarting anything except Orca, speech is restored.

Bug#612622: Running speech-dispatcher with custom config file not reflected in orca TTS engine/voices list

2011-02-09 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Package: speech-dispatcher
Version: 0.7.1-0ubuntu3
Severity: normal

This bug has been reported on Ubuntu Launchpad as:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571959

When running speech-dispatcher with a custom config file with extra TTS engines
configures Orca does not list the engines from the custom speechd.conf rather
from the ~/.speech-dispatcher/conf directory copy. This is unexpected
behaviour. Historically this has worked.

To reproduce:
cp your speechd.conf to a new directiry
killall speech-dispatcher; speech-dispatcher -C ~/oath to moved config file
orca
Preferences - check engine voices list

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04
Package: speech-dispatcher 0.6.8~unofficial~rc2-0ubuntu3
Uname: Linux 2.6.32-21-generic i686
Architecture: i386
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=(cusUser Name, no user)
 LANG=en_GB.utf8
 SHELL=/bin/bash

I can also reproduce this issue by making changes directly to the /etc/speech-
dispatcher/speechd.conf file. Those changes are not acted on. They must instead
be made to ~/.speech-dispatcher/speechd.conf

Bug#578293: Info received (thunar: copy and paste with CTRL-c CTRL-v doesn't always work)

2010-05-14 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Well, I must apologize for taking your valuable time. I really messed
up the message. The real launchpad bug is found at:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374525

The reporter that reproduced could only make it fail with .jpg files.

Bug#578293: thunar: copy and paste with CTRL-c CTRL-v doesn't always work

2010-05-13 Thread Charlie Kravetz
This bug has been reported to Ubuntu Launchpad as:
https://launchpad.net/578293

Additional information to reproduce the bug:

It only seems to happen with IMAGE files (jpeg) when I copy/paste
within the SAME Thunar window. Pasting from one Thunar to another
Thunar works fine.

Pasting simple text files never seems to fail; that's why I was unable
to reproduce the bug!
