Bug#906189: linux-image-4.17.0-1-amd64: Laptop does not suspend in 4.17 - worked up to 4.16
Package: src:linux Version: 4.17.8-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I am using Debian Sid. Since the upgrade to linux-image-4.17.x I cannot suspend my Lenovo X230 laptop any more. I close the lid or run "systemctl suspend" to suspend the laptop but the laptop's power LED blinks and after a few seconds the laptop resumes automatically. This effect is easily reproducible. Booting into 4.16.0-2-amd64 works well. Linux kernel image 4.17.0-2 shows the mentioned problem. It appears the multiple people on the internet ran into this problem. Jari, thanks for your work. I have neglected this package a bit. Seems that a 2.0.0 version has been released a year ago but not by the original upstream author. I have sent out an email to get a clarification on the status of the software. There are also hints that weather.com has changed their API and I'd like to know if this package is becoming useless. One issue I see is that the pages on http://screenshots.debian.net seem to reference and give information about packages in Ubuntu (instead of Debian) which can be confusing for users. I'm aware that some packages may show that they are from Ubuntu while they in fact used in both distributions. The reason is that screenshots.debian.net was first created for Debian and then later added packages that were only available on Ubuntu. The algorithm that decides whether a package is shown as being in Ubuntu or Debian doesn't make sense nowadays and will thus get a serious makeover. It's just an ugly hack to support Ubuntu. Be assured that this will change. In the future there will be screenshots.debian.net that prefers Debian package information and screenshots.ubuntu.com that prefers Ubuntu package information. The new version will also support other kinds of Linux distributions like OpenSuSE and CentOS. IMHO Wheezy has been frozen yesterday. And a new package would have to be in testing for a couple of days before being included. I have upgraded Debian's zabbix package to the most recent upstream version in a private Squeeze repository. No problems. We have a 2.0 package ready that is just going through the final tests. We had the choice between packaging the recent 1.8.x version or 2.0. In the end our changes and tests took too long to make the 2.0 Debian package stable enough to be included in Wheezy. Besides: a stable 1.8 package is probably better than a fresh and unstable 2.0 version. The 2.0 package has undergone a lot of changes and simplifications and I'm not sure if it's worth the time to backport the 2.0 packaging work to 1.8. So it looks like 1.8.11 will be the Wheezy version. And I'll try to provide recent 2.x backports. Bug#674175: zabbix: please package newer upstream release

If I see correctly, it has been released yesterday and hasn't been uploaded to unstable, so I fear there won't be any 2.0 backports really soon. Please get in contact with the maintainers, and help get 2.0 packaged first. I'm currently working on a Debian package for Zabbix 2.0. But I probably won't offer an official backport. Maintaining properly tested Debian packages is time-consuming and I want to concentrate on up-to-date packages instead. Feel free to rebuild the package on Squeeze. I have done that for myself and it's just a matter of minor adjustments to the debian/rules file. -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 I have talked to the upstream developers and they are still evaluating (within their means) whether a decent backported patch for 1.8.2 can be provided. They have pointed me to using the newer version instead that has the security flaws fixed. And I have of course explained the Debian policy to them that doesn't allow it and they understand it but perhaps can't help here. I am still waiting for their feedback but don't have much hope. Meanwhile I have tried to determine the kind of patch they did to fix the bugs. But unfortunately those security bugs were fixed along with other patches in a big commit/patchset. Just wanted to point out that I have the same problem here. While the differently sized desktops worked well with X on Squeeze they don't after upgrading to Wheezy. If you move a window into the black spot of the smaller monitor then you have no chance to find it and draw it back. Also icons put there are hidden. I'm working with a Lenovo X201 laptop in a docking station with a larger external monitor. With Squeeze I could switch off the laptop's monitor and just use the external monitor. Now if I try that both monitors go dark and after a while the Gnome display settings dialog reappears as I didn't confirm the new settings. Bug#616451: RFA: driftnet -- Picks out and displays images from network traffic
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I request an adopter for the driftnet package. The software driftnet has not been actively maintained for 10 years. So either we remove it from Debian or someone with basic programming skills steps up and starts maintaining the package. Honestly I'm personally not interested in the software any more. The package description is: Inspired by EtherPEG, Driftnet is a program which listens to network traffic and picks out images from TCP streams it observes. It is interesting to run it on a host which sees a lot of web traffic. . (Obviously, this is an invasion of privacy of a fairly blatant sort. Also, if you are possessed of Victorian sensibilities, and share an unswitched network with others who are not, you should probably not use it.) -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.8 APT prefers oldstable APT policy: (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
