Bug#637749: h5cc missing from hdf5-tools and libhdf5-dev

2011-08-13 Thread Chun-Chung Chen
Package: hdf5
Version: 1.8.7-2~exp6
Severity: normal

The update from exp5 to exp6 left out some files in /usr/bin
originally included by hdf5-tools. Among those, h5cc is typically used
to compile programs with HDF5 or to detect the HDF5 library in a
configuration script. As pointed out in Bug #629157 , this file (and
other similar wrappers) might be better suitable for libhdf5-dev
package. But, it is currently missing from all the packages built from exp6.

Best regards,

Chun-Chung Chen

Bug#537414: [DebianGIS-dev] Bug#537414: please default to 1.8 interface for hdf5-1.8.x

over-simplified in its approach.

The old API will eventually be deprecated and disappear. The
compatibility mode allows time for the developers to migrate to the
newer API: They could use H5_USE_16_API_DEFAULT to defer the migration.
If they don't want to migrate at all, why bother upgrading the hdf5
package? The current approach burdens the adoption of new API and pushs
the migration problems to the future.

There probably should be libhdf5-*-1.6-dev packages for the people
wanting the old API. Or, if it is really desired to have libhdf5-*-dev
meant for 1.6, there should at least be libhdf5-*-1.8-dev packages that
provide a way to use the 1.8 API by default.

backcompatibility. Exactly the result of the approach adopted.

Different sonames and libraries where needed when changing from
hdf5-1.6.* to hdf5-1.8.* .

There is no need for different sonames or libraries for the same ABI.
And, the API do not even need to coexist. Just make the
libhdf5-*-1.8-dev conflict with the libhdf5-*-dev packages. This permits
the migration work to start now instead of when the old API is
deprecated or the ABI for old functions are no longer available.

Bug#577618: gogoc hang blocks boot process

It works for command line after I changed the server to

It seems that the gogoc requires network connection to continue which I
don't have during boot. Without the -b option, it renders the system
unbootable. Even with -b there is long pause before it gives up.

Bug#577618: gogoc hang blocks boot process

2010-04-21 Thread Chun-Chung Chen

Hi Craig,

Adding -b does abort the process and allows booting to continue. Please
see the attached log file. The gogoc.conf used is the default.

Best wishes,

Hello,
Adding a -b flag should at least fix your boot process problem as it
will abort on error.

Can you increase the logging level and send me the results?
You will find those options in /etc/gogoc/gogoc.conf

If you have to login to the server please remove your username and
password information from the log before you send it.

Bug#484052: tesseract segmentation fault on specific page image

2008-06-07 Thread Chun-Chung Chen

Jeffrey Ratcliffe wrote:

Strange. If I remove just the --as-needed, I still get the segfault.

Is that the only thing you changed?

OK, I see that I do get the same segfault on linux-2.6.24-1-686 running
testing which uses gcc-4.2.4. But, the segfault is gone on
linux-2.6.25-2-amd64 running unstable which uses gcc-4.3.1 if
--as-needed is left out. I am not sure if it's the gcc version or it's
the architecture that made the difference.

Bug#484052: tesseract segmentation fault on specific page image

2008-06-02 Thread Chun-Chung Chen
Ah. I was using 2.03 but compile it with just ./configure --perfix=/usr
--datadir=/usr/share/tesseract-ocr; make. I found that if I remove
--as-needed from the configure script options in debian/rules, I can
get rid of the segmentation fault.

I am seeing this with your test page too. However, I also see the
segfault from the vanilla 2.03 release, unpatched, etc.

What version of tesseract did you compile?

What version of g++ are you using?

 Regards

 Jeff

Bug#336409: can not clean up the kernel source tree

2005-10-29 Thread Chun-Chung Chen
Package: kernel-package
Version: 10.002
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

When trying to clean up the kernel source tree, I get the following error:

 # make-kpkg clean
 real_stamp_clean
 make: real_stamp_clean: Command not found
 make: *** [clean] Error 127

It seems that run_command is not defined in the line:

 $(run_command) real_stamp_clean

of the file debian/ruleset/local.mk in the kernel source tree.

A simple fix is to switch the following two lines in the command section
of target clean of the file
kernel-package-10.002/kernel/ruleset/local.mk.

 ifeq ($(strip $(int_am_root)),)
 $(eval $(deb_rule))

Bug#328474: sysvinit: selinux error message at boot time

2005-09-15 Thread Chun-Chung Chen
sysvinit should probably keep quiet when selinux is not supported by
the kernel or when the mount point does not exist. However, you can get
around the error message by passing SELINUX_INIT=NO as a booting
parameter to the kernel. It will be passed on as an environment
variable to the init and quell this error message.

Bug#286672: mail-notification: Can't use SSL/TLS

2005-08-15 Thread Chun-Chung Chen
Since the author explicitly expressed that the program can be
distributed with dynamically linked OpenSSL. Why not just use the email
from the author as a permission statement and include it in the
documentation?
