Fyi; I experience the exact same thing since last week's upgrade of the php packages (to 5.3.2-2). '/usr/lib/php5/20090626+lfs/mhash.so' is simply missing. From what I read from a quick Google scan is that this lib is indeed depricated in newer php version, but still linked to from within php.
