Bug#920737: dhcp-option is ignored for tagged range

2019-01-28 Thread Daniel Huhardeaux

Package: dnsmasq
Version: 2.76-5+deb9u2

I have a setup with 3 interfaces, each being connected to vlan and
different IP range, router, dns-server and other options (lan, voip,
wireless guests).

When a guest computer is connecting, he get at first an IP from lan
range 192.168.10.x (interface lan) with some default option
(dns-servers, classless-static-route) and then from guests range
192.168.210.x (interface eth2). Problem is that dhcp-options from this
new range are ignored, only option 53,54 and 56 are sended (options we
didn't set).

When lease time is reached, the renewal make thinks working normally (eg
all options from guests network are sended), now everything is right.

I suspect the bad address being faulty (see log) as this computer should
connect on both networks and has a dhcp-host entry on the lan interface

dhcp-host=lan,90:48:9a:db:4b:51,00:13:3b:00:09:22,192.168.10.5,IMissLinux,96h,set:ordi

Bug#879518: ifupdown: fail to start with bridge_stp on and recursion detected in parent-lock with vlan after jessie upgrade

Downgrading to normal since this bug doesn't fit the definition of
critical:

“Makes unrelated software on the system (or the whole system) break, or
causes serious data loss, or introduces a security hole on systems where
you install the package.”

Well, for us the whole system was broken as every services running on
our network (firewall, routing, IPBX, mail, web server aso) are in VMs
on this machine which means all unusable until we found a solution.

This setup was perfectly running on Jessie. After upgrading to Stretch, all the
network stuff was down, doesn't matter if local, VMs or Internet.
In the interfaces file below we changed the bridge-stp to off to get rid from the
"set forward delay failed: Numerical result out of range" error.
After this, interface bone was going up as well as eth0 but then we had the
parent-lock error. We commented the pre-up bone[.1|.2] on each interface who
call them
and the system started with all interfaces up.

I see. Locking interfaces indeed prevents a VLAN interface from calling ifup on
its parent interface. It's actually with good reason; while it may have
worked on your bridge interface, it's not guaranteed to work correctly,
and it will break in situations where interface are created on demand
(like with tun/tap interfaces).

That said, it's of course necessary for the parent interface to be up
before you can bring up a VLAN interface. So I'll probably change
ifupdown to do that for you. That way, you won't need pre-up ifup
statements anymore.

Would be great. What would be nice is to show a warning during the
upgrade stage so we could adapt interfaces file before restarting the
new kernel.

Bug#879518: ifupdown: fail to start with bridge_stp on and recursion detected in parent-lock with vlan after jessie upgrade

2017-10-22 Thread Daniel Huhardeaux
I investigate further and discover that the the message "recursion
detected in parent-lock" appears in *ALL* vlan interfaces (.1 .2 .100
.1001 .1002), not only the 2 first one as I reported.
After having removed all pre-up bone and pre-up bone.vlan in interfaces
file, I was able to again set bridge_stp on without getting the "set
forward delay failed: Numerical result out of range" message.
This means that bridge_stp on error is a result from the pre-up bone and
bone.vlan behavior.

Bug#592303: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics: Dedicated vertical scroll areas not working and not configurable

Hi,

Bob Freemerbob.free...@gmail.com (09/08/2010):

Many touchpads (esp. Gateway and Dell) have dedicated vertical scroll
regions just to the right of the main touchpad area. The recent
updates to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics has broken this. Further, I
have attempted many different custom configurations of the driver to
recreate the vertical scroll features. The touchpad and all vertical
scrolling worked perfectly before the vertical scroll option was
yanked upstream.

The bug is even more serious in that not only is the vertical
scrollbar non-functional, but the mouse jumps across the screen when
reaching the right edge of the main touchpad area. This makes the
mouse nearly unusable.

is it better with 1.6.0 currently in unstable?

Sorry for the sloow response. Do you still have access to this
hardware? How do squeeze and sid kernels behave?

If you can reproduce it with a recent 3.x.y kernel, we can try to get
help from upstream. If you can reproduce it with a 2.6.32.y kernel
and not 3.x.y, we can try to narrow down when the fix was introduced
and try applying the same fix to squeeze. And if you can't reproduce
it with 2.6.32.y, we can declare victory and get on with life. ;-)

I don't use anymore the USB key modem, I can't tell you more ;-) Please
declare victory and open a bottle of champagne :-D

Yes but only one of the two installed core.img matches the modules.

I don't quiet understand: I ran sudo dpkg-reconfigure everything
related to grub to be sure that everything is fine, this include
grub-pc as you point it. Nothing helped till I removed the graphical

I installed few other servers with Debian stable after this, always
removed the graphical terminal W/O reconfiguring grub related stuff and
all went smooth. So how can the core.img differe from one disk to the other?

Consider following scenario:
You install GRUB to both sda and sdb.
Then you do a sudo aptitude upgrade or equivalent. It finds a new GRUB
version and installs it, updating core.img on sda and modules. So
core.img from sda and modules are in sync. But the core.img on sdb isn't
updated and so it gets out of sync with modules.

This is OK: what I don't understand is that you told me to run
dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc to avoid this and that I did it (and more than
one) and it change nothing.

Another possible reason for such a failure is a mdraid array desync.
Yet, there was a similar report affecting some other users to warant
further investigation. Could you try to do in GRUB shell:
insmod gettext
lang=fr
and tell the result?

I will not be able to do anything as I don't get any grub cli ! Server
just hang after the bios stuff :-(

I mean, set GRUB_TERMINAL=console (a config that afaiu works) and try
executing these commands to see if it triggers the bug.

All servers are now in production, I will not be able to do any test.
Will wait the next one to come.

Anyway, as you seems to think that the problem is not grub related and
as I have found how to eliminate this behaviour, you can, from my side,

Bug#611537: grub-pc: In an mdadm RAID1 area GRUB2 fails to boot from second HDD (at, least in SATA environment) when graphical terminal activated

2011-01-30 Thread Daniel Huhardeaux

Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.98+20100804-14
Severity: important

I installed a fresh server in SATA environment using mdadm. All went
smooth even rebooting from one or the other disk after installation.

I used a net install SQUEEZE CD from around 08/2010.

After having removed the linux-image-2.6.32-5-trunk-amd64 image from
installation, I again tried my RAID setup and from here I'm unable to
boot from
HDD who whas sda during installation. Worth, when booting GRUB I see the
welcome message, than quickly appears some errors and the server is
going to reboot,
no GRUB Cli even in rescue mode :-(! Pressing SHIFT key during GRUB
start gives only a blanck screen, nothing usable.

With a camera I could get an image from the procedure and saw:

GRUB loading.
Welcome to GRUB!

error: no such device 83fe9f48-467b-43bc-bffa-0c0f09be70a5
error: no such disk
error: no suitable mode found

and server is rebooting

the above UUID device is the / partition wich is /dev/md2. Separate is
/boot being /dev/md0 partition.

Booting from other HDD or from entire RAID area is working well.

Now I enabled in /etc/default/grub
[...]
GRUB_TERMINAL=console

ran update-grub and try again my RAID area: booting from each HDD is
effective!

I checked my raid area with boot_info_script055.sh script, everything is
fine (output is filename RESULTS.txt below).

experimental has since 2.6.35, any chance to try it?

Can you install linux-image-2.6.34-1-amd64 from experimental, then
if/when the hang happens get the content of
/sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state? You might need to mount
debugfs first, with 'mount -t debugfs none /sys/kernel/debug'.

Also one thing to try would be to upgrade libgl1-mesa-{glx,dri} to the
version in experimental, assuming you're using the 7.7.1 version from
sid now.

Do you have the Recommends: of libvirt-bin installed? Can you attach the
complete log of libvirtd?

All needed packages are installed (see list given by reportbug). I can
start VMs without network.

Something seems messi with my network setup. I don't have any iface in
the 192.168.110.0/24 range, that's why the delete rule failed.

Usually -eg without libvirt- I start tap0 on IP 192.168.110.1 whenever
eth0 or wlan0 (net 192.168.0.0/24) are coming up (if-[up|down].d) and
create route. Then start kvm and everything is ok (vde).

I made a test with tap0 started and ask virbr2 to take IP
192.168.110.10, network is starting. But my VMs can't access to the net,
even pinging the host adress 192.168.110.[1|10] fail.

Still searching. Thanks for your time and help.

Having the above wireless device, I always have problems with connection to AP

Yes. See

http://lists.debian.org/debian-kernel/2009/03/msg00123.html

and Bug #12880 on bugzilla.kernel.org

That's a different bug, reported as http://bugs.debian.org/518358,
which you said was fixed in version 2.6.29-2.

Was fixed, but appears again in 2.6.30. Reopening the old one would have
the same effect or would be merged to the new one.

I'm talking about the bug reported as http://bugs.debian.org/542917.

How are you invoking wpa_supplicant?

Started from /etc/netwok/interfaces and/or wpa_gui

Do you use a front-end such as

network-manager or wicd?

No

I've looked at where the message wlan0: deauthenticating by local
choice (reason=3) is generated, and it appears to mean that something
is setting the interface down. I have been using the same WLAN device
and the same kernel version as you with no such problems. So I think
this is an issue with wpa_supplicant or wpa_gui, or the way you have
configured them. I will reassign the bug accordingly.

Not sure that's the best to do: remember that rmmod/modprobe iwl3945
(one or few times in the raw) bring generally everything back to normal
till next failure.

It's only a frontend to keep easy the managing of wlans. I can close

More interesting is this from dmesg:

Bug#518358: linux-image-2.6.28: iwlwifi: iwl3945 failed after suspend and no roaming

2009-03-06 Thread Daniel Huhardeaux

[...]

It change something from 2.6.28: when I ifdown wlan0 I can get ifup
working correctly without rmmod/modprobe iwl3945 module.

Have to correct this: it's only working if I try to reconnect to the
_same_ AP. If I ifdown from one AP and try to ifup to another one, even
the new one being in BSS, it wont work: have to unload/reload iwl3945
module.

Bug#510844: wifi-radar doesn't allow wep key 2,3 or 4

2009-01-05 Thread Daniel Huhardeaux

Package: wifi-radar
Version: 1.9.9-1.1
Severity: normal

When connecting to WEP AP which is not using key #1, wifi-radar failed
to connect. To get it work, after having configured the profil, I have
to edit /etc/wifi-radar.conf and add manually [key number] in security
option, eg security = restricted [3]

Of course, this data will disappear when I modify this profil and have
to write it back.

Yes. So i decide to clean all java applications -it give me one reason
more to hate java ;-)- (jre14-mozilla, java-gcj-compat, ...) to stay
only with sun-java-6. Now it works again cleanly, without the

Hi Daniel

Ok, thanks. How do you connect with UltraVNC?

I need the information in order to be sure that I reproduce the same problem.

Hi Ola,

xtightvncviewer is in listen mode port 5500 of my notebook. This one is
connected to our server through an UDP VPN (openvpn). Customers are
downloading and executing UltraVNC which connect to the server through a
port above 3. This port is redirected to the 5500 port of the VPN
Host (my notebook)

Hi,

still trying to get WIFI working again on a 2.6.24 kernel, I discover

The card is associated to the AP, at least the kernel thinks it received

Agree

Dhclient is still not working.

What does the AP say?

Hmmh, how to check it? It's a Linksys WRT54G with WhiteRussian 0.9 OS.

I am noticing the same behavior on my system (using iwl3945 on a
Thinkpad T60p with the Intel 3945ABG card). That includes the 0
packets captured on the interface during DHCP request. However, I
noticed that if I run `ifconfig wlan0 up` before running `ifup wlan0`
it seems to resolve the problem and the computer receives a DHCP
response from my DHCP server with no problems. It may be related to
the fact that settings applied with iwconfig do not appear to stick
unless the interface is up.

I would be interested to hear if this makes a difference on any other
systems...

Hi Kevin,

I tested this on a 2-6-24-1 and on 2-6-24-trunk, no luck. :-( I also

Previous ipw3945 modules with 2.6.[..|22|23] kernel version are working perfectly.

Have a look at http://wiki.debian.org/iwlwifi, it has some
instructions on how to switch from using ipw3945 to iwl3945.

This was already done, the module is well loaded, interface file
modified (changed eth2 to wlan0). The problem is when I run ifup wlan0:
module check for an dhcp server and finish with a no dhcp offer,
return in sleep mode

Bug#395383: kdeprint: Documents are mot printed

2006-11-01 Thread Daniel Huhardeaux

Modestas Vainius a écrit :

Hello,

- open a pdf file and print it with kdeprint: it's ok
- open an OpenOffice odt file and print it: it's ok
- open an OpenOffice *odg* file and print it: _printing failed_

The above investigation suggests that this bug is not kde specific. It should
be reassinged to cupsys (maybe you're using wrong driver for the printer. I
had a similar problem on sarge (gs using 100% cpu), when I used pcl6 but my
printer supported only pcl5), gs or openoffice.org

It's not a question of wrong driver (foo2zjs): I have this printer since
1 year and I always was able to print till this upgrade. Another laptop
under Ubuntu Dapper is using the printer with the same driver and it
works fine.

I think that the problem could be more related to gs but I still have no
idea on how to track it. In Kjobview, when I destroy the current print
out, it's removed from the list but still have gs PID and his companions
running. I have to kill manualy.

I am on the point that even with a fresh start of the computer printing
failed.

Bug#395383: kdeprint: Documents are mot printed

2006-10-27 Thread Daniel Huhardeaux

I went a step further. I restart the computer and:

- open a text file with konqueror and print it with kdeprint: it's ok
- open a pdf file and print it with kdeprint: it's ok
- open an OpenOffice odt file and print it: it's ok
- open an OpenOffice *odg* file and print it: _printing failed_

From this point, I can't now print anymore, even by killing all tasks
concerning the last launched print task which are still running. Another
strange thing is that printing a pdf file with kdeprint shows me the
name from txt file I printed before!

Kjobviewer (with faulty name) as well as cups displays the task as being
currently printed, nothing is going on. When I cancel the job (doesn't
matter Kjobview or Cups), he's removed from the list but I still have
pids running -see attached file sended with bug opening- and 'gs' taking
lots of CPU

I guess that kdeprint is not faulty (partly only?) and could be more a
gs problem. If you have some testing I could start to point out what
exactly happend, please let me know.

Bug#395383: kdeprint: Documents are mot printed

2006-10-26 Thread daniel huhardeaux
Package: kdeprint
Version: 4:3.5.5a-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After having faced bug #392052 I still can't print from KDE with cups. Printing
from OpenOffice is
working.

In cups I see that printing is on the way but nothing happend. In fact, 'top'
is showing that gs is
taking lots of CPU% ~50% Attached you will found a 'ps ax' output as well as
the 'top' output for gs.
The printing tasks stays and never finish if I don't kill them.

I don't know if it's a KDE Print System related problem or a gs one. The file I
try to print is a pdf
one.

Bug#392052: kdeprint: KDEprint and CUPS error localhost read failed(15)

2006-10-12 Thread Daniel Huhardeaux

Christopher Martin a écrit :

Hello,

Hi Christopher

If OpenOffice is having problems, then it probably isn't KDE to blame.
Are you using the OpenOffice KDE frontend?

No
That might account for the connection, I suppose. Best way to be sure
if it's a CUPS problem or a KDE problem would be to try to print from
a GNOME/GTK app, or anything totally non-KDE related.
- Open control panel - printers. Now (don't ask why), as a normal user,
I see list of printers. I ask to print test page and it worked!

- Open OpenOffice and print: it works.
- Open a text file with Konqueror and print: have the mentioned error.
- Open Kpdf and print a pdf file: have the mentioned error
- Open KGhostView and print a pdf file: have the mentioned error
- Open GV and print a pdf file (using Kprinter): it works
- Open control panel - printers, print test page: it works

Problem seems to lie with Konqueror, Kpdf and KGhostView (others?) when
they call kprinter.

Quoting daniel huhardeaux [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

Package: kdeprint
Version: 4:3.5.5-1
Followup-For: Bug #392052

When trying to print from an application, during initialisation of
printing system,
it stops, the list of printers is not showed and the message
(translated from french) appears:

A problem appears during requiring list of printers. Connection to
CUPS server failed. Check the
status of CUPS server and see if it's properly installed and
running. Error: localhost: read failed (15)

http://localhost:631 is working like a charm, printing of test pages
from cups to. If KDEprint is
runned with administrator rights, the printer list is shown.
Printing from openoffice is not working to.

The problem appears since the last update.

Since last upgrade to 2.0.4~rc2-2 all openoffice applications crashes with

So you installed kopete 3.5.4-2, restarted KDE (let's err on the side of
caution here) and kopete still doesn't work with ICQ? Can you confirm
that? Because KDE upstream claims to have fixed the problem...

See my last message, my bad: I didn't restart kopete so it was still the
previous version who was running. I stop it -no need to restart KDE- and
start it again: now it works.

I'm very confusing to not have pay more attention on what I did after
upgrade and have take your time. Apologize.

Thanks.

Daniel

Bug#361586: wpasupplicant: Variable VERBOSITY missing in ifupdown script

2006-04-09 Thread daniel huhardeaux
Package: wpasupplicant
Version: 0.4.8-2
Severity: minor

In the ifupdown script the VERBOSITY variable is not initialized.
A good feature would be to have a wpa-verbosity (0,no=default/1,yes) in
interfaces file to play with.

What is wrong with ifup --verbose ?

The --verbose option of ifupdown is what initialises VERBOSITY.

I would like to close this bug unless you do not agree with me.
I was mainly thinking about the verbose mode when ifup is running in
auto. Anyway, if this is the only mode for which it should work, ok for
closing the bug.

The embedded VERBOSITY echo's were designed to debug interfaces
stanza'a, nothing more.

Are you thinking of something like verbose logging to syslog of the
running wpa_supplicant daemon or so?
syslog or dmesg. Something like wpa-verbose yes in interfaces file
would allow to log in verbosity mode

This would be similar to the wish-list item described in bug #317180 ?

Yes, I think you can merge them. Thanks

Bug#361425: wpasupplicant: Works only if options are in an wpa-conf file

2006-04-08 Thread daniel huhardeaux
Package: wpasupplicant
Version: 0.4.8-2
Severity: normal

Using wpa-conf /path/to/wpasupplicant.conf in interfaces and having options
there is working. Putting each option in interfaces file failed for 3 of them.
Here are outputs from ifupdown.sh script in verbosity mode:

wpa_supplicant: ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
wpa_supplicant: /sbin/wpa_supplicant -B -P /var/run/wpa_supplicant.wlan0.pid -i
wlan0 -C /var/run/wpa_supplicant -D ndiswrapper
wpa_supplicant: ctrl_interface socket located at /var/run/wpa_supplicant/wlan0
wpa_supplicant: wpa-eapol-version : Unknown command 'eapol_version'
wpa_supplicant: wpa-ap-scan : Unknown command 'ap_scan'
wpa_supplicant: wpa-fast-reauth : Unknown command 'fast_reauth'
wpa_supplicant: configuring new network block, guessing network_id of 0? : 0
wpa_supplicant: wpa-ssid : OK
wpa_supplicant: wpa-psk : OK
wpa_supplicant: wpa-pairwise : OK
wpa_supplicant: wpa-key-mgmt : OK
wpa_supplicant: wpa-proto : OK
wpa_supplicant: enabling network 0 : OK

DHCP offer is not founded, no network. Same option in a conf file (previous
wpa_supplicant behaviour) is ok.

Package is not present at incoming. Will wait till it appears in unstable.

Bug#338309: ndiswrapper-source: oops in update_wireless_stats

2005-12-16 Thread Daniel Huhardeaux

Adrian, thanks for the patch. Works great. :-)

Claudio, I retried the 1.5 with 2.16.11: no problem, so *it's* a kernel
upgrade matter or, if you prefer, call it as an incompatibility between
1.5 sources and 2.6.14 kernel ;-)

BTW, is there any reason to not have the latest (1.6 1.7) sources +
utils in SID?
