Bug#1004844: games-finest: Consider adding endless-sky

2024-01-12 Thread Dave Vasilevsky
Hi again. It looks like endless-sky 0.10.2 has been in testing for awhile,
with no reported bugs. This version is quite new, updated in 2023. What do
you think about adding it to games-finest now?

Cheers,
vasi

Bug#1051914:

2023-09-14 Thread Dave Vasilevsky
(Sorry for filing the bug report on an Ubuntu box, my Debian machine is
currently under repair. But the bug really does apply to Debian.)

Note also that this feature relies on switcheroo-control, which should
probably be a Recommends now.

Bug#1051914: kio: Update kio to 5.109+

2023-09-14 Thread Dave Vasilevsky
Package: kio
Version: 5.107.0-1
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-Cc: d...@vasilevsky.ca

Version 5.110 of kio is out now. In 5.109, we added support in kio for
launching apps in KDE using hybrid GPUs, which significantly improves the
usability of games such as supertuxkart.

Bug#1004844: games-finest: Consider adding endless-sky

2022-02-02 Thread Dave Vasilevsky
Package: games-finest
Version: 4
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-Cc: d...@vasilevsky.ca

Hi,

Thanks for all your work maintaining debian-games.

It's been a few years since we've added anything new to games-finest, and I
think endless-sky would be a great choice. It's pretty polished, and runs
great in Debian even on basic GPUs. It has shown up on several
best-of-open-source lists, eg:

* https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/open-source-video-games/
* https://www.slant.co/topics/1933/~best-open-source-games
*
https://medium.com/swlh/free-open-source-linux-games-that-are-actually-good-6cb97177c6e6

There aren't many other games in debian main like it: I guess just naev and
oolite (oldstable), and none of those are in games-finest. Also, the popcon
numbers for endless-sky are already ahead of several other simulation games
in games-finest:

   253  bsdgames
   116  openttd
77  unknown-horizons
67  flightgear
47  pinball-data
43  foobillardplus
40  lincity-ng
40  micropolis
--> 38  endless-sky
36  bzflag-client
14  cultivation
14  searchandrescue

I hope I've made a good case! Thanks again.

Bug#622659: virtualbox-ose-fuse: vdfuse fails to mount images with extended partitions

2011-04-13 Thread Dave Vasilevsky
Package: virtualbox-ose-fuse
Version: 4.0.4-dfsg-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

When attempting to use vdfuse to mount a .vdi containing extended partitions,
it fails with Invalid EBR signature found on image.

To reproduce:
- Download attached overflow.vdi.xz, decompress with 'xz -d overflow.vdi.xz'
- Try to mount it: 'mkdir mnt; vdfuse -f overflow.vdi mnt'
- Error is printed and vdfuse fails

The error occurs because in vdfuse.c initialisePartitionTable() line 430, the
read is offset by EBR_START, but the struct EBRentry already contains padding
to take care of that. Also on line 444, uOffset should be the EBR offset in
bytes, but it is assigned ebr.chain.offset, which is expressed in sectors.

(Reported from Ubuntu, but the same bug occurs in Debian)

Bug#535075: bluez: Udev rules for hid2hci do not match any event

2009-06-29 Thread Dave Vasilevsky
Package: bluez
Version: 4.42-1
Severity: important

Subject: bluez: Udev rules for hid2hci do not match any event
Package: bluez
Version: 4.42-1
Severity: important

My MacBook4,1 has USB bluetooth with ID 05ac:1000, and requires hid2hci. The
corresponding rule in /lib/udev/rules.d/62-bluez-hid2hci.rules is:

ACTION==add, ENV{ID_VENDOR}==05ac, ENV{ID_MODEL}==1000
RUN+=/lib/udev/bluez --method csr -v $env{ID_VENDOR} -p $env{ID_MODEL} --mode
hci

However, EVN{ID_VENDOR} and ENV{ID_MODEL} do not seem to be set anywhere, so
the rule never matches anything. This is confirmed by running 'udevadm test
/sys/bus/usb/devices/3-1'. Instead, on my system there exist attributes
ATTR{idVendor} and ATTR{idProduct}. The following rule does match, and allows
bluetooth to work:

ACTION==add, ATTR{idVendor}==05ac, ATTR{idProduct}==1000,
RUN+=/lib/udev/bluez --method csr --mode hci -v $attr{idVendor} -p
$attr{idProduct}

Is it possible that we have different versions of the kernel or udev, and this
is causing us to see different udev properties?

PS: Just a nitpick, but your rule is also missing a comma before RUN. Adding
the comma doesn't fix this bug.
