Bug#495444: [gthumb] saving cropped image overwrites original

2008-08-17 Thread David Andel
Package: gthumb
Version: 3:2.10.8-1
Severity: important

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Saving a cropped image does not ask for a filename, rather overwrites
the original without notice!
IMHO, this is a serious bug. It should never overwrite the original, and
if, only after user confirmation.

Yes, the same error occurs. So could you please reassign this bug to
xorg then (perhaps xserver-xorg-core)?

Thank you.

Yes, with lsb-base 3.2-8 I could remove exim4-daemon-light and install
postfix.
Thank you.

Isn't there a workaround until the bug will be resolved?

Bug#474504: [qingy] changing to a virtual console kills X-session

2008-04-06 Thread David Andel

Package: qingy
Version: 0.9.6-2
Severity: grave

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Since the last upgrade changing to a virtual console kills the running
X-session. Moreover, it changes everytime to the first virtual console,
no matter which one was chosen (like e.g. Ctrl-Alt-F6). It does not
depend on which getty (qingy or any getty) is running on the destination
console. Therefore, the problem seems clearly qingy only.

Riccardo Stagni wrote:

Well, it happens since a few days. I am upgrading every day.

X started/was launched from the first virtual console (tty1)?
X was started by qingy or by some other login manager? (xdm, wdm, etc)

It does not matter from which virtual console X was started. The only
thing which matters is that it is started from qingy. When changing to
any other virtual console, X gets killed and I end up in tty1, no matter
which one I have chosen to go to.

Are you using closed source X drivers? (eg, nvidia ones)

no

Bug#458712: depth should be possible to be used twice

2008-01-02 Thread David Andel

Package: xboard
Version: 4.2.7-7
Severity: wishlist

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

For better assessing the strength of chess engines it would be helpful
to be able to use the -depth option twice, for both engines separately.

This seems not to be the case.

Bug#458252: sort in players list wrong

2007-12-29 Thread David Andel

Package: qgo
Version: 1.5.4-r2-1

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

When sorting the players list from IGS according the numbers of won or
lost games the numbers are treated as strings. Therefore the sorting
does not make sense.

Bug#388362: I would like to adopt this package

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

Pablo Torralba expressed his wish to adopt this package in March 2007
but it still lacks a maintainer: http://packages.qa.debian.org/u/uligo.html

Even though I am not a DD yet, I am planning of becoming one since a
long time. This would be a good opportunity.

Bug#447413: 'Rcmdr' is not a valid package -- installed 2.0.0?

2007-10-20 Thread David Andel

Hi Dirk

Thanks for your quick answer.
/usr/lib/R/site-library/Rcmdr/Meta/ contains the same files as in your
case and they are the same size as well.

Unfortunately, purging and reinstalling didn't change anything.
I could install it directly from CRAN, and it seems to load then, but
doesn't work either, because it doesn't load a dependent package which
is installed as a Debian-Package...

see below...

Cheers,
David

Can you we run a few tests at your end as e.g. purge r-cran-rcmdr and reinstall
it; if that still fails, try install Rcdmr from CRAN (i.e. do

from inside R) ?

I am sure we can get to the bottom of this.

Bug#441961: installLocation has no properties error in nsExtensionManager.js during install/update of extensions

2007-09-12 Thread David Andel

Package: icedove
Version: 2.0.0.4.dfsg1-2
Severity: normal

I have got the same error in Icedove as is described in the bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/65609 except that the line of
the error now is 3940.
I did not try applying the patch reported there yet but I think it
should work.

In order to be able to install texlive, please remove xmltex.

I didn't check the arguments, but after removing xmltex it installed
seamlessly.

Bug#420559: texlive-base-bin: installation freezes system - uninstallable

2007-04-23 Thread David Andel

Package: texlive-base-bin
Version: 2007-5
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

The installation procedure starts mktexfmt which in turn starts etex and
pdfetex instances. They are being started until memory is full and the
system freezes. I have had over 800 instaces of etex. It also does'nt
recover with time. The first time I have waited 14 hours.
My work around so far has been to 'killall mktexfmt {,pdf}etex' twice
during installation, so it's left uninstalled.

Bug#406862: Version 1.5.0.10.dfsg1-2 still segfaults

2007-03-29 Thread David Andel

Alexander Sack wrote:

profile or changed that preference).

Since the last email I have started and stopped icedove several times
without a problem. But then I've compacted that first folder again, and
icedove crashed. And then it crashed after startup again. Removing the
.msf file again helped, but only until it finished recreating that first
folder, then it crashed again. Now I can strt it only by removing that
.msf file every time and then switching to another folder immediately
after startup.

Back to topic: Hope you have backed up the profile, so we can still
reproduce. How do you stop thunderbird? Do you stop thunderbird at all
or do you just log out/shutdown your system?

Yes, I have backed it up, but since the problem is still apparent, we
might not need it now.

I always stop all programs before logging out/shutting down.

2007-03-28 Thread David Andel

Alexander Sack - Debian Bugmail wrote:

Ok, after doing this on the first folder which is being opened after
startup, icedove crashed. But then I could start it for the first time
without the bypass over beagle-search.
But that worked only once. From the second start it crashed as reported
again, no matter how many other folders I compacted (starting again from
a mail displayed by beagle-search).

If that doesn't help, try to remove .msf for that mailbox in your
profile dir.

Well, that did the trick. I removed the .msf only for that first opened
folder. Now it starts fine and didn't crash so far.

Is it a good idea then to regularly remove all .msf files under
~/.mozilla-thunderbird ?

 right off your head?

Nothing particular. I am using kernel 2.6.18-4-686, Gnome 2.14.3.6 and
nothing really special.
As I wrote Mike already, both iceape and icedove work fine when I move
my big mailfolders out of the way. But older versions of both of them
worked with my mailfolders just fine, till the versions I have reported
the bugs.
What could help you is the following: I can use icedove when opening a
particular message from beagle-search. Then it crashes mostly when I
open a big mail folder after a small one. Or when I restricted to
unread and then change to all. But when I change in two steps, e.g.
changing first to last 5 days before changing to all, it works.
And it crashes *only* when opening big mail folders, opening small ones,
configuring, writing and sending emails is all no problem.

the way. But then, before version 1.0.7-2 it worked fine also with my
huge mailfolders, and it should.

And maybe this helps as well:

That was the problem, the directory did not exist on 130.60.xx.xx. Now
it works fine. Unfortunately I did not find anywhere that the directory
has to exist.

Bug#325689: electricsheep keeps opening X clients without closing the old ones

2005-08-30 Thread David Andel
Package: electricsheep
Version: 2.6.3-1
Severity: normal

I am running electricsheep in xscreensaver. It keeps opening new X clients
without closing the old ones. After one night xrestop shows 224 open
clients, the ones opened by electricsheep having PID '?' and Identifier
'unknown'. Eventually they reach the maximal number allowed (usually 255),
with the effect that no other X client can be opened, and the X server eating
up a big deal of system resources. To open a new X client one has to close
another one first or better restart the X server to get rid of all those
unknown clients.

IMHO, this makes the package unusable in this state.
