Bug#551387: xserver-xorg-video-intel: Very same issue as #551387

2010-02-26 Thread David Gauchard
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.9.1-2
Severity: important

X server randomly hangs (about three times a day)
Mouse icon still working
Host not hung (accessible through ssh)
Not doing anything unusual
Mainly using rxvt's and firefox, often hang using firefox.
Never switching to VT
Hangs a bit less often when using firefox inside a local vnc server (and local
vnc client)

Started to happen after upgrading from lenny to squeeze
Experimented with currently available squeeze debian kernel (686).
See Xorg.0.log.BUG below, it says:

[mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.

Thanks
david

Bug#456763: fixed with 2.6.23

2007-12-19 Thread David Gauchard

Hello back,

I have been told to try the lastest kernel from the ubuntu
guys, so I did.

Everything has unfailed with 2.6.23 built with the
debian-etch's 2.6.18 .config and this command-line:

make-kpkg --append-to-version -trial --initrd buildpackage --config
menuconfig

The kernel is now running without any special option (like
noacpi,...) and my keyboard has not anymore the symptoms
described above.

Concerning the stable distribution of Debian, I'm still opened
to suggestions or tests that the kernel maintainers wish to try
(e.g. 2.6.18's backport patches for 2.6.18 or whatever).

david
