Bug#956844: RM: stardict -- RoQA; Orphaned; Upstream Inactive; Affected by dependency removals
On Thu, Apr 16, 2020 at 10:23 AM atzlinux wrote: > 叹息下! > > https://github.com/huzheng001/stardict-3 > > > 在 2020/4/16 上午3:58, Boyuan Yang 写道: > > Package: ftp.debian.org > > Severity: normal > > User: ftp.debian@packages.debian.org > > Usertags: remove > > X-Debbugs-CC: debian-chinese...@lists.debian.org > stard...@packages.debian.org > > > > Dear Debian FTP Masters, > > > > It seems that package src:stardict became unsupportable given that its > > upstream has been inactive for several years and that it (build-)depends > on > > several obsolete tools and libraries, including gnome-doc-utils and > > enchant(1). Bug#911207: copyright review
Hello, after a walk through the tools/src directory and sometime to search the whole internet, I found these files are from third party which have no copyright disclaimer: DeKDic.exe, KSDrip.exe: binary without source, should be of course removed, upstream of stardict said they're useful and refused to remove. dictgen.php: cannot found the author. extractKangXi.py, makevietdict.py: the author is call wesnoth on ustc bbs [1] around 2007, without contact information now. sd2foldoc.cpp, libsd2foldoc.cpp, libsd2foldoc.h: the author is dazhiqian, the code is still downloadable via google code page [2], and the project page said it's New BSD License, so we are safe to assume it's 3-clause BSD. And there are several simple scripts which have no disclaimers, I don't think we should bother dealing with them, because they are too simple, both by lines(less than 10 lines) or functions (print some lines and replace some vars). for example: KangXiZiDian-djvu2tiff.py and stmerge.py. So, I'll repack the upstream source, remove *.exe, dictgen.php, extractKangXi.py, makevietdict.py, add disclaimer to sd2foldoc, and all should be OK. BTW, Po2Tab.zip is all clear, the copyright notice is there, the author is clear, it's a piece of tool to convert gettext .po file into stardict tab file, it's java source so been packed into an archive, for whoever interesting to open it :) [1] http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:UThieVUFQu0J:bbs.bo69.cn/cgi/bbscon%3Fbn%3DHanyu%26fn%3DM46C12B07%26num%3D111+=2 [2] https://code.google.com/archive/p/dazhiqian/, download source, found at /trunk/C/dictd-dabase -- Emfox Zhou GnuPG Public Key: 0x1DEB

Bug#460161: libpcmanx-core0: Dropping symbols without SONAME bump
Ming Hua [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Package: libpcmanx-core0 Version: 0.3.7-1 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 8.6 Hi Emfox, First thank you for the fast packaging of the new PCManX release. I feel almost sorry to report an RC bug against it, but this is a serious issue and I hope it gets addressed. I was looking through the symbol-based shlibs system [1] the other day, and found that libpcmanx-core0 0.3.7-1 is dropping symbols compared with 0.3.5-2 (the etch version, 0.3.5-5 should have the same symbols as 0.3.5-2) [2]. 1. http://wiki.debian.org/Projects/ImprovedDpkgShlibdeps 2. Any link to the symbol files on http://qa.debian.org/cgi-bin/mole/seedsymbols?pkgname=libpcmanx-core0 This means there is ABI breakage in the shared library libpcmanx-core0, and there should be an SONAME bump. And I can confirm it -- I downgraded pcmanx-gtk2 to 0.3.5-5 version and kept libpcmanx-core0 at 0.3.7-1, all dependencies are satisfied, however pcmanx-gtk2 crashes when I try to connect any BBS. I assume this crash is easily reproducible (I can provide backtraces if you can't reproduce it). The 0.3.7-1 version of pcmanx-gtk2 works fine. Yes, I could reproduce it. The only reverse dependencies of libpcmanx-core0 are pcmanx-gtk2 and mozilla-plugin-pcmanx, so the ABI integrity is not that important. I also realize this is an upstream issue. Nontheless I'd like to raise this issue and hope something can be done about it. The best solution would be teaching upstream to understand the SONAME issue and bump it. Or we can make it a private library (but I don't really know how). Or make very strict dependency between the applications and the library. It's up to the upsteam, strict dependency is the best solution now. Let me know what you think, According to my knowledge, the lib is just for sharing between pcmanx-gtk2 and mozilla-plugin-pcmanx, and upstream do not have plan to open the API for generic use, so I'd change the dependency. But it seems there is no good way to solve the current problem, that is, we cannot stop people from upgrading libpcmanx-core0 but keep pcmanx-gtk2, or if you have good suggestion, do please tell me. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#411627: comix: Installing with --no-mime still includes gnome-thumbnailer gconf entries
Alex Malinovich [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Package: comix Version: 3.6.2-2 Severity: normal The current installation of comicthumb installed gconf keys for a thumbnailer referring to comicthumb which is not included in the package. The Debian package currently uses the --no-mime option to install.py to get any necessary files for the package to be built. This causes comicthumb to be left out of the installation. While this may be a good thing since it prevents any potential Nautilus dependency, the comicbook.schemas file which is installed still includes the comicthumb references. Bug#401697: mplayer: build arch is not correct
Package: mplayer Version: 1.0~rc1-4.1 Severity: normal Today I'm testing a patch[1] which makes real codecs work on 64bit CPUs. So I should use --enable-real and --enable-win32 while building mplayer on my AMD64 box. After a short look into debian/rules, I inserted with_real_and_xanim = true and with_win32 = true lines under the line ifeq ($(arch),x86_64). I think it's a reasonable change, but it doesn't work, mplayer built without real and win32 a second time. Later I happened to come to find that the arch string on my box is amd64 instead of x86_64! that's the point. And I noticed that FIXME comment, I think you should take one minute to read DEBIAN/RULES section of manpage dpkg-architecture(1), it's worth the time :) -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.19 Locale: LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages mplayer depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2 1.5.8 Debian configuration management sy ii libaa1 1.4p5-30 ascii art library ii libartsc0 1.5.5-1 aRts sound system C support librar ii libasound2 1.0.13-1 ALSA library ii libatk1.0-01.12.3-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libaudio2 1.8-2 The Network Audio System (NAS). Bug#398871: pcmanx-gtk2: Please use monospace font as the default ASCII font

The patch is against SVN trunk. sorry for the inconvenience taken to you of not working using the BTS system, that's because i am only not familiar with it, and i will try to improve it. Now a few comments about this patch. First, the conffile issue. Now /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/scim-pinyin is a conffile, how to deal with it later if we decide to give the user the choice of choosing between scim and xim for $GTK_IM_MODULE? I really want to do this because I prefer GTK_IM_MODULE=xim myself, and I do plan to add this feature soon, by a debconf question. If we apply this patch before the debconf stuff is in place, GTK_IM_MODULE will be hardcoded, and since im-switch is not really very flexible (see the second comment below), it's hard for the user to change this. Also when we eventually switch to debconf, we need all kinds of tests to deal with the old conffiles. yes, im-switch is not flexible. here is an example way from kinput, that is, after installed, there will be these file in /xinput.d: kinput2-canna kinput2-canna_canna kinput2-canna-wnn_canna kinput2-canna-wnn_wnn i think it may be useful probably to have different config files like scim-pinyin_xim scim-pinyin_scim, and thus im-switch itself could switch between them and no need to interactive with silly debconf. Second, as I've said in scim-user mailing list, im-switch breaks the setting in ~/.gnomerc. $XMODIFIERS and $GTK_IM_MODULE get overriden as long as im-switch is installed, even if the user doesn't want to use im-switch at all (im-switch set to none). And as im-switch classify by locale, the current patch means en_US.UTF-8 locale users have no way to get scim-pinyin working except removing im-switch. This is very bad, as one very good point for scim is its friendliness to non-native speakers. If scim-pinyin enforces a zh_CN locale, and breaks previously working configurations in ~/.gnomerc, I'm not going to let it happen. i'd think it's a normal bug of im-switch, with the lines in file /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90im-switch: for f in $HOME/.xinput.d/${lang_region} \ $HOME/.xinput.d/default \ /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/${lang_region} \ /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/default ; do [ -r $f ] . $f break done hey, so you see the two lines start with /etc/X11... should be get rid of, or at least should be optional. i think i may file a bug against it first, and started to work at changing the default way. So this patch still need a lot of work, but it's a very good start. Thanks for the work, Emfox. Ming 2005.10.23 -- GnuPG Public Key: 0xF7142EC2

Bug#304134: setting generated in ~/.xsession.d/30im-scim has a wrong order
Package: m17n-env Version: 0.0.3-5 I use m17n-env package the help setting SCIM imput method. After execute 'set-m17n-env' both under root and emfox, with all the items selected, a file call '30im-scim' was generated in /home/emfox/.xsession.d, the contents as below (the other comment lines was omitted): GDK_USE_XFT=1; export GDK_USE_XFT scim -d # GTK 2.0 default input as SCIM GTK_IM_MODULE=scim ; export GTK_IM_MODULE # GTK 2.0 default input as XIM #GTK_IM_MODULE=xim ; export GTK_IM_MODULE # For good old XIM applications XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM ; export XMODIFIERS the problem is, as correct setting, i think the line 'scim -d' should be put after XMODIFIERS setting, so that scim will work perfectly as XIM. My system is Debian Sarge, with kernel-image-2.6-686 installed. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
